Brickwork Lounge in Derry

First of all.. vibes immaculate on our first night here. Cheap drink and good music was what we were met with upon arrival. Only place in the area that didn't seem to be 23+ to get in. Ended up getting ourselves sorted with a drink and got sitting down to hear an absolute angel on the mic. Not only was she fantastic at singing and was singing mostly for the people at the back making sure EVERYONE could hear but she was real eager to get people to sing along and the crowd was helpful when she forgot the words. I'd pay top dollar to hear the lungs of that doll again but one can only dream. Up close acrobatics as entertainment and was impressed at the flexibility of the guests to this establishment. Did someone order a banana split? Establishment welcome to PDA. If you just canny wait to be in the comfort of your own home, you'll be sorted here. Don't worry about trying to hide your love. We were really dying to get back here the next night. TOTALLY different night did we no have. Went in to the place and it was deed. Pure hints of quiz clothing store was terrible. Pure neon pink, get away back to 2008. Bar woman screwed her bake up at me for asking for a regular drink at any other part of the country. Took it on the chin since the drink price was cheap. Paper bendy straws was also something I could get behind. Sat down and was stared at by a creeper skallywag. Lone wolf giving daggers like we'd be interested. Dahmer would come to mind. Went to the bathroom and had to lift my arms to high heavens to get my hands washed. Had to parkour up the stairs to get away from the men that wandered the stairwell. Overall unreal, best craic we had in Derry particularly the first night! Hire thon mic snatcher for that was Grammy worthy.

Just stumbled across this gem. Bar staff were lovely, cocktails and pints were spot on and just a great vibe. Bar lady with the black hair was the highlight, friendliness person you could meet.

A great character, cosy bar. Reasonably prices for cocktails and drinks Great decor and also LGBTQ friendly! Live music and the general vibes of the bar and staff is very friendly

Don't serve food here not wheelchair friendly

I went here for Christmas lunch. I'm not convinced the side dishes like potatoes were actually vegan. The food was ok.. the waiting staff were amazing helpful and couldn't do enough to be helpful. Down side was a womyn wondering around with her cardigan hanging off one shoulder, just totally confusing the waiting staff and having no idea how to talk to customers discreetly.

Good music, young crowd, bar is central in the city and has a pool table and upstairs function room. All round it ticks the right boxs

The Brickwork Bar has a casual, friendly and welcoming atmosphere. While visiting the city I found it and decided to try. The food was tasty, well prepared and the place was very clean. The service was friendly and sharp. Good vibe. The staff made me feel very welcomed. 👍👍

Quality food at a quality price. Sunday 3 courses for £22. Really tasty and fresh and home made. Would definitely recommend

We were told by the host they do not serve food. They should update their Google listing to reflect such to avoid disappointment.

Went for a quiet drink early afternoon Friday. Service was fantastic and range of drinks was impressive . We returned after dinner that night for a bit of live music. Great evening and there was a good atmosphere . The guy singing /playing was very good. They have drinks promotions too so ask the guys at the bar they are all very approachable. Brilliant.

I was just in with my mum for Sunday dinner and the service was fantastic! The food was unbelievable too, exactly what you need on a quiet Sunday!

Not technically a gay bar - but adorned with a rainbow mural and flags inside. Had fun live music. Felt comfortable as a same sex couple in a way that we did not at other places. Highly recommend!

Great nights craic, we love to come to Brickwork when we visit Derry, always good entertainment and friendly staff.

We looked at various pubs in the area, each one has its own characteristic but this pub seemed more welcoming with plenty of space, music and good local and foreign beer.. I recommend it

Spent a great evening in the brickwork lounge listening to live music. Great table service. All staff really pleasant and efficient.

I love Brickwork Lounge, the food is delicious and the staff have that famous derry warmth and friendliness and are very good with recommending dishes and making sure your visit is a good one. Love this place, visit it every time I come to derry without fail!

It's a grand bar. Nice outside seating. Friendly staff. Service can be slow but that's understandable. Beer list is limited but so are most.

One of my favourite bars in Derry. The service is amazing, will always try and accommodate you and a great wee spot by Castle Gate with seats outside to people watch (best thing about Derry is the people). Can’t thank the staff and guests at this bar enough for such a warm and friendly welcome!

Have eaten here a few times and the food is always very good, great staff and a cool atmosphere and just great for families. Tried the burger yesterday and it wast the best I had in years. I'm normally used to a hard, dry beef patty but the Brickwork version was moist, tender and just delicious. Full of flavour. Im back in town in a few week and will be back for sure.

We were very impressed for lunch... perfect setting and experience. Food was perfect and plentiful.

Food was fantastic and arrived promptly, also arrived in a take away box. Even though it arrived like this it was set like a meal that you could take with you if you couldn't finish it. Service was brilliant aswell.

Asian inspired menu makes for great pub cuisine with extremely friendly service from the entire staff. I was told the chef's speciality is fish and the seabass did not disappoint!

Quite a surprise, since all kinds of Asian food was on the menu. The bao burgers were good, but the kimchi they had on the menu for them was non-existent.

The menu had us wowed, but the food didn't quite live up to our expectations. Wasn't bad at all, but perhaps we had hyped it up in our heads as we planned our shared orders. Very small portions (2 of each item on the shared menu - a bit small even for tapas). Several of the tapas items could've/should've been served with a sauce as they were a bit dry. However - the kimchi chicken skewers were fantastic and very saucy (and spicy). If you're into heat, order these!

English food pretending to be Asian, if you’re into that sort of thing. I’m not sure which Asian country serves chips and peas with their mains. And it’s not even that good.

Waited a little over an hour and my fishcakes for starters where great.Pork was great but 3 of our group got sirloin and it was more like frying steak. Seemed a nice place but im happy i didn't get steak.

I've always just had 'ok' food here. Had the noodles and they were a bit bland like they should have thickened the sauce more. Very nice staff.

Walked into the restaurant and we were greeted in a warm manner and ushered to our seats. The ambiance is great. Food is very tasty and quite affordable and they have got varieties and dishes for vegan and low-fat they are patient with their customers. It’s literally Brickwork all over. From the walls to the menu and to the seating area. They had wonderful portraits too on the wall and they always have a special chef order for the day which is what we had and yes, the sirloin steak and onion rings was worth it and yes we are going back there again. Oh sorry that’s my man, he isn’t on the menu list. You are welcome

Very kind and friendly staff, and great food! I highly recommend the calamari (squid) as an appetizer and the fried onions (onion rings) with their barbecue sauce, it was really good and slightly spicy. For dessert I chose toffee pudding with ice cream, a treat!

I'm so thankful with the service, specially with one waitress ( forget to ask her name but she have a kids too). We have a beautiful baby girl of 19 month every parent knows how hard it is to have any meal in a restaurant without losing our mind in the process, well the staff try to do help us in every way, they were beyond their service. Thank you thank you for everything, there are not enough words to express how grateful we are as a family, continue with your amazing job . Otherwise the food was excellent, really tasty and delicious.

First time in here. Busy day but someone there straight away to get served and great staff, very clean and the food is one of the best youll get in Derry at a very reasonable price. Highly recommend to anyone!

Never been so offended or embarrased in my life. To see the way a member of staff (who claimed to be the manager on site for the day) refuse to serve someone because they had been barred. Would have been fair enough except for how she had already been served and had eaten in the restaurant without issue. Then, when the girl asked what she had done to get barred, the story changed every few seconds. And the way the member of staff spoke to this person was disgusting. She was so rude and disrespectful. If this person is supposed to be a manager I’d hate to see how a normal member of staff would speak to patrons. So unprofessional and overhearing this exchange is enough to put me off going back.

Me and a group of friends went to Brickwork and got a drink, we then went for food (which was fantastic) afterwards we went for another drink in the bar to then be told by the “Manager” I use this word very loosely that one of us was barred but when questioned changed her story several times as to why this was. When I questioned the “Manager” they could not provide even the slightest reason as to why this was. The actual reason was because someone known to the “Manager” who was drinking for free may I add, has a personal issue with the apparent barred individual. I’m failing to understand why a personal issue, a very silly one at that, would add to a reason why PAYING customers had to leave the bar. There was a group of 12 and the “Managers” attitude was disgusting. Whilst the “Manager” is working I will not be back. All other staff are amazing and attentive but that one person ruined my opinion on the whole place

Such a friendly place and superb staff. They all go out of their way to help and the food was top drawer, even though place was packed to the gills. They even posted my glasses after I'd left them behind. Highly recommended.

Every weekend I have been have had great music and good choice of drink. Always a good night

Had a good meal here and reasonably priced. Staff very attentive. Recommended

Ambience and decor a fun plus. The food wasn't bad, but not great either. The cheeseburger had a processed cheese slices as opposed to cheddar. My daughter had the sausage and mashed--she said ok but not great. Prices weren't bad though, the family of five at for 43 Sterling. In all, it was a fine stop, and we'd go back if someone said, hey let's go to Brickwork. But, we would not choose to go back again with all the other choices available.

Booked a table four weeks in advance. Got there and the table wasn't ready. The starters were stalled and cold or had been microwaved. Everyone who ordered turkey and ham, was served it cold and had to send it back. The steak was cooked beautifully and the waiting staff were lovely and so apologetic. Seems to be a kitchen based issue. Wouldn't recommend.
