Beutiful staff and cozy fire thanks!

Location is good, but inside the venue it was cold. The Budda Bowel did not have any grains with it, which is the base for this dish, so disappointing for £13.50 - so it would be like serving a curry without rice, or a roast dinner without potatoes.

Excellent Beer and Whiskey pairing evening. Our host was excellent and clearly knew and lot about the subject. Food left us slightly hungry still but still well worth the visit.

Fantastic Christmas day lunch. Fantastic day from start to finish. We arrived about 2.30 for 3oclock table. Lovely cosy area were we sat ande had drinks,our table was ready on time. We were sat in front of the bar all 7 sat together. We had different starts which were all lovely. I had the pot belly it was so tasty. We all had turkey roast. With all the trimmings. Plenty of gravy.. One small thing was the pigs in blankets could of done with extra cooking, but we wasn't to bothered. Then a selection of desserts which were very nice. We wasn't rushed at all, and even had time for an extra drink at the bar, whilst we let our food go down, and wait for taxis. It was such good value, £70 for 3 courses on Xmas day, excellent in my book. Worth not having to do your own dishes. Will certainly go again. Thank you to all the staff that worked so hard to make our Xmas special.

I visited here with work colleagues before the Christmas break. Food was tasty and arrived quickly. My only issue is the lack of actual vegetarian food that isn’t vegan! Lots of places are doing this now- replacing decent vegetarian food with vegan options, as a vegetarian I like vegetarian food.

Service was five star everything was great but even though the dinner was tasty there's not enough of it . Sunday dinners was being carried past us with massive Yorkshire pudding . Was almost disappointed. Sorry guys.

Only been here for drinks and enjoyed it each time. Vegan wines available and mentioned in the menu. Nice vibe.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch here, the food was excellent, especially the roast beef and the staff were friendly and helpful. Service was a little slow for dessert but the place was very busy and we had plenty to chat about so no problems at all really.

4 of us came for the whisky and beer pairing experience last night. Our host was Anya was very knowledgeable and polite and friendly. We tried 5 whiskys and 5 beers. There was no rush and we were able to ask questions which were answered expertly by our host. All were of an excellent standard. After the tasting were were given a small menu to choose a main course from. All of us agreed the food was of a very high standard. Would highly recommended this experience. Will be back again to try their full menu and also their excellent home brewed ales.

Went to the brew house and kitchen in Cardiff for a birthday meal with the family the food was amazing the service and staff I can’t praise enough will most definitely be going there again

Three of us went for Sunday lunch. The staff were great, but the food was terrible. Two of us had pork, which was over cooked and the veg and gravy were extremely bland. The Yorkshire pudding was like eating cardboard .

Ami was brilliant as well as all the other staff. We had a group of over 30 after conference and experienced Hoppy hour! Their brews are amongst the best I’ve tasted and the session IPA was awesome. Everyone had a thoroughly good time. Will be back soon 🍻👍🏻

We enjoyed a brilliant Gin tasting masterclass hosted by the wonderful Matilda. She described the different gins and the pairings very well. Thank Matilda for making our experience very enjoyable

WOW, what a great experience! We had a gin tasting and food with Matilda. Im writing this at the table post experience, so.any typos are purely down to the 5 gins we tasted! She is very knowledgable and easy going. She answered our questions well and also.mentioned the other tasting sessions .... whisky and beer pairing experience sounds amazing! Overall, we loved the company on our table, Matilda was awesome and the venue.was busy but not packed so a Saturday afternoon. Oh, and I'd best mention that the fish & triple.cooked chips were great, but not as great as the 5 guns we tried. Highly recommended and adk for Matilda. Well done Team x

Great beer and Octoberfest Wursts

We came with big group of us and was welcomed warmly by Charlie. She was a wonderful server, lovely to talk to and very patient with our group. I felt very looked after. The food was delicious and cooked very well. The atmosphere was very cozy and comfortable. Would definitely recommend to anyone asking in the future.

Amy welcomed us and took our drinks and food orders promptly and efficiently, she was friendly and cheerful. Triple cooked chips were very good and the rest of the food was great. Would definitely come back when visiting our son at Uni.

Absolute life -savers. We’d been on a coach back from Nottingham after trying (and failing) to watch some cricket. Arrived 10 minutes before they stopped serving food. Food was hot and tasty, and very welcome after a long wet day.

Matilda made our family meal really special. She reminded us what great service feels like.

We came here on Saturday lunch! I’ve got to say it was fantastic, food was amazing and staff were really friendly. It was quite busy with boxing across the road so a little wait on food but we were told when we came in! It was worth the wait! Matilda was great 😌

Great stout & nice reds. Food was initially unsatisfactory however that was soon remedied by a very polite member of staff. Replacement meals and complementary drinks provided promptly. Tasty steak frites and fish & chips. Definitely recommend a visit.

We were a group of 3 who visited this restaurant last night for the first time. It had been recommended to us by our son. It was brilliant. Food, atmosphere and Keisha who served us were excellent. We will definitely be back. Loved it !!!!

I had my engagement party here recently and it was a perfect venue. Staff were so friendly and happy to accommodate all of our hopes for the night. Food was delicious. We had the restaurant area and part of the outside space and it was perfect for the occasion. Would definitely recommend booking for events.

The service we received at this pub today was awful . Went there for lunch with my older children and grandchildren after hiring bikes in pontcanna ! The barman /waiter was rude ignorant and not very pleasant at all ! We finished our meals and waited for the tables to be cleared of empty glasses and plates but nobody came ?I then asked for the children’s ice cream that came with the child’s meal for him to try and charge us ! I explained that they were free with the child’s meal for him to Rudely tell me we should have had them earlier ? I explained we clearly have not had them and the table hadn’t been cleared ! He huffed and puffed and eventually brought out 2 ice creams we needed 4 ? No spoons and the table still full of dirty plates ! Asked for his name he kept ignoring me even when I asked for the other 2 ice creams ! Children had to eat their ice cream over dirty plates why bar staff and waitresses standing in a circle talking ? We also googled that kids eat for a £1 with every paying adult which did help us to go there as there was a lot of us for them not to honour it ! Will never go there again. The food was sort of ok .

Outstanding food. The best Sunday Roast in Cardiff. The beef roast is simply sensational. Lovely atmosphere. I definitely recommend it.

Pleasant staff who helped me choose a couple of very tasty beers. Didn't eat this time, but the menu choices looked good.

We had our beer master class with Matilda. She was brilliant at explaining the history of the different types of beers and lagers. My wife and I both have different tastes in beers. Only 1 star for food as we didn't have any.

Disappointed this time round. Have been before and was impressed. One member of staff was friendly and helpful but another was the opposite. We had a beer and coffee to start. All good. Ordered two Caesar Salads and had to go and tell a member of staff that there was no hard italian cheese. ( just a bowl with lettuce , 4 croutons and the smallest boiled egg we have ever seen!) I understand that there are few ingredients in a Caesar Salad, but without the cheese, it is quite a sad dish. I was told that the chef said they were out of hard cheese. So I explained politely that this should have been explained on ordering or before it came out or that the dish should not have been offered. I find that £11 for lettuce and an egg is unreasonable. The girl was not helpful and disagreed when I suggested we should have money off. Eventually we agreed on getting a small portion of cheddar cheese to lift the salad. I did not mention later that the four croutons each we had were completely stale. I was disapoointed with the lack of concern/care. I have found the welcome and food better on a previous visit. I also felt that the staff had little interest in clearing/cleaning tables as there were lots of tables with empty dishes despite it being around 2:30 and quite empty. I had spoken highly of the place to my husband and brought him there to see for himself. However, it was a negative experience this time.

Came here last Friday and had the pleasure of being served by Charlie. They recommended a great beer that was made on site. Even accommodating my dietary requirements! Then to top it off they even had live music to listen to whilst I was drinking it! Next time I’m bring a bigger group of mates!

Sat in rear garden as we were eating Sunday lunch. All the tables were very dirty and the ground was covered in leaves, tissues and plastic beer glasses. All the ashtrays were overflowing from the night before. It felt very neglected and had clearly not been swept or wiped down for possibly weeks. The toilet seats were slipping sideways and two of the sinks were blocked. I mentioned the untidy state to a member of staff but no apology was offered or any attempt made to clean what could be a lovely outside space. The lunch was ok but a bit metallic tasting with minimal "seasonal greens"

Great pub, clean, lots of beers to choose from and pretty reasonable. Only down side is the floor in mens toilets is full of urine, so take flippers.

Major props to Ollie Marlow knowledge of beer was uncanny recommended enough beers to give me congestive heart failure and he only went and performed open heart surgery in the smoking area unreal bloke deserves a raise

Best place to go on a sunny day. Lovely outside seating area. What made my experience special was the bartender Ollie he knew everything about the beers and helped my make an informed decision. Was a lovely beer thanks Ollie your the best.

Really lovely food and good service. The waiters were approachable. The service by Matilda and Zak was prompt.

Food was really nice, my only gripe is the chicken was on the bone and not a breast but this wasn't clarified on the menu. I would've gone for the chicken burger had I known this.

A very quiet evening, and I sat outside. The tables were clean and tidy but there were a lot of leaves and seeds everywhere. Service was very quick and efficient which reflects how quiet it was. The food was lovely, I had a great chicken schnitzel. We both remarked on the good quality sound system and the pleasant music.

Overcharged for drinks and when this was questioned the barman was very rude and arrogant. Did refund some of the overcharged amount but not it all.

An alright place. Food was good, but service was a little sparse. Would have preferred to use the app to order and pay the bill (it didn't work) rather than wait for someone to be available. Ended up paying at the bar as we'd waited ages for anyone to even clear our plates.

Booked a table for 6.30 when we arrived at 6.20 we found our table had been given to someone else and put on another , drinks were served and good. starter of pork belly was ok but overcooked, we then waited 50 mins to be told mains were on their way 10 more mins passed at which time we had to say we had to leave for a concert so we had to leave without a meal. Won’t be returning.

Great for a pre-show dinner during the open air theatre season. Veggie friendly without fake meat, great range of beers. Keisha looked after us well, without being OTT. Food was hot and served promptly. Good start to the evening!

Good food, great atmosphere. Same can not be said about the service. You have to take your own cutlery, bottle of nearly empty sauce, and have to bring your own napkins so it seems. When we asked someone to clean our very dirty table, it seemed like we were asking a lot. Not a fun dining experience.

We had their Sunday Roast today, and it was incredible! Then Josh recommended the Legendary Beer Legend, which is one of their special crafted beer. Had a great day today.

Shockingly small portions and very poor value for money, we told the staff who agreed with us but apparently management doesn't want to fix this. Greedy owners! Avoid if you can!!

My friend & I ate there before a show. We had 'the best' waiter, Ollie. He hadn't been working there long but we thought he was excellent. We didn't know what lager we would like so he brought us some samples in order to choose. He checked up on us regularly, he was friendly, attentive & went above & beyond. He is an assett to your pub. The food was great, good portions & very tasty. Overall a really nice experience.

What made me give such a good rating? The DJ in the caravan made the night! He played a great mix of songs last Friday night from the 'beer caravan'. Everybody's heads were bopping whilst drinking in the sun with their friends. It was just a shame the back seating area was playing different music as it would have created a brilliant atmosphere in an enclosed area. I'd go again if he was on!

We had a brilliant large family reunion here with family from all 4 corners of the UK and were really impressed. The food, service, location and helpfulness of the staff was spot on.

Absolutely brilliant. We used a voucher from Red Letter Days for here when on holiday in Cardiff and I’ve got to say, we were so impressed. Staff (especially the manager) were excellent, food was delicious and the selection of beers was top notch. Will definitely be back next time we’re in Cardiff!

We had a gin tasting experience with matilda and it was brilliant! She was lovely and knowledgeable and picked great gins! would highly recommend!

We did the gin masterclass by Matilda, it was her first session and she did so fabulous and was warm, friendly and so open to questions. She made us feel so comfortable with her as well as the others we shared the table with. Very good class, would definitely recommend and do it again!

Great pub! Good music, great staff, and the food was amazing!

The food is nice, the staff are really friendly and helpful and the pub is really charming. The issue that I have is with the automatic addition of a 10% service charge. We were there this weekend as a family and my sons wanted to pay for father's day, the bill arrived so they went off to pay. It was only after they had paid that I saw the bill and the extra charge. I would have left a tip on the table, due to the service, but it shouldn't be an automatic addition. Becoming more Americanised by the day!

A nice setting and an interesting building, but it's very noisy with blaring music. Not a place to relax unless the weather is good and you can sit outside (but you can't escape the music even there)

Very busy Sunday lunchtime, and interior can be a bit cramped under such circumstances. Bit of a wait for food but to be fair there were lots of tables so forgivable. Food however was astoundingly good. Chicken roast one of the best.

Great beers. I love my IPAs and you have so many. My hubby is tee total and staff were very helpful in finding him a zero alcohol drink to suit him. We sat outside in the sun and enjoyed seeing the world go by. A lovely experience

I've visited this pub on several occasions as unfortunately it is the closest pub to my home, and I am now convinced that it is the worst pub in Cardiff. It has so much promise; it's a beautiful building, the interior is well decorated, even if the tables are a little cramped. It has its own micro brewery on site. The outdoor areas must be one of the best in the city, lots of space, lots of different style areas to choose from, and a lovely rustic feel. So i don't understand how the management could have gotten it so utterly wrong? The service is a disaster, the bar staff and servers stretched so thin that you're regularly waiting 5 - 10 minutes for a drink, and dirty glasses and crockery pile up on tables I know prices are going up everywhere but I dont think there's anywhere in Cardiff as expensive as here. I would feel bad for the staff for having to work there, but it seems that most staff choose to leave the first chance they get, meaning that chronic understaffing persists not just on busy event days but also during quiet weekday afternoons. I expect that offering poverty wages and expecting young servers to do the jobs of 3 people will lead to poor attrition.
