Breadys Delights Jamaican Restaurant in Eastbourne

starting from customer service it was the best so far, the food I can’t find the best words to explain it was delicious and highly recommended to everyone.

If the food is the pearly gates, the staff are heaven

20 pounds for curry goat rice and a drink, I ordered a large and there was nothing large about it, plantain was like cardboard, and rice was awful, so not worth the money, I feel ripped off

Didn't have the Jerk chicken I wanted, but the chicken curry along with the coleslaw was good and a decent size- could have done with a bit more plantain. Overall food was good and will be getting that again.. need to try their herk chicken.

Tiny portion for £14 , distinct lack of flavour and definitely on the turn. Not good, avoid. Money better in your pocket than theirs. So sad, £14 for one 400gram container of food, 5 small pieces of meat. Jokers.

Got two chicken patties that came up to 10.98 ! He asked if I wanted it warm up and I told him no need . When I opened the plastic bag once home I found he gave me two FROZEN patties cold hard frozen patties , I was instantly put off and threw them away . I have never been given frozen food by a restaurant/ takeaway in my life ! I won’t be going here again

Hello, I wanted to try this Caribbean van for a while now and walking my dog spotted it across the street so why not! Got myself some jerk chicken with rice, plantain. I didn't see or ask for some coleslaw but I shall keep my eye out for some next time I was lucky enough not to have any que so got myself an extra portion just of the jerk chicken to top the experience off, normal portion with rice etc is £10 and the extra chicken was £5. Very friendly service from the lady and those there, really hit the jerk withdrawal spot for me this evening. They never asked or mentioned leaving a review etc, just thought I'd add as noticed there isn't as many on TripAdvisor. Have a great day/evening whoever you are reading right now

Hate to do this but food was baddddddd the only thing the group ate together after couple mouthfuls we knew something wasn’t right jerk tasted like vinegar the next day we on the toilet one after the other ruined our weekend didn’t even go to the event we drove down for because we couldn’t leave the bathroom

I was looking for an excuse, other than the warm weather, to travel from London to Brighton today. I googled “Caribbean food in Brighton” and looked for the food joint with the highest stars and best reviews. After reading the 5 star reviews and seeing the pics we headed for Brighton, first stop Bready’s Delights. It was an honoured and privledged experience to meet the very welcoming owner and share his passion for Jamaica and discuss the genuine Jamaican ingredients he uses to give his dishes that original home cooked authenticity. Shortly my partner and I headed the short distance to Brighton’s pebbled beach to indulge in the most delicious Jamaican takeaway ever - I have genuinely only ever tasted Jamaican food this authentic when cooked by my Jamaican mother and when I traveled to Jamaica to do the Reggae Reggae Marathon in Negril. I bought the curry goat meal including rice and peas, plantain and purple slaw. My partner had a jerk chicken meal including rice and peas, plantain and purple slaw. Both portion sizes were very very generous and containers, cutlery and presentation etc were excellent. We also purchased a slice of real Banana cake which was the best banana cake we have ever had - my partner makes it at home and even she said she wants to know how he made it so fluffy and and tasty. Regretted that we only bought one slice of the Banana cake. The weather in Brighton today was beautiful, the blue skies and sea breeze was therapeutic, but seriously it is worth travelling from London to Brighton just to eat at Bready’s Delights. We cannot rate the excellent friendly service and mouthwatering food highly enough. We will visit again ASAP.

I found this authentic street food outlet on Google as I was staying locally and was delighted with what we chose - Jerk chicken with rice & peas, plantain and purple slaw. And the Sam again with goat curry. WOW it was so delicious. Highly recommend it.

I cannot tell you how good the food is because we didn’t get to taste it. We went for a meal on a Tuesday, when it was supposed to be open between 12pm and 9.30pm. When we reach at 6pm, we find that the clock on the window showed that they should have been back at 5.30pm, but no one was there.Even by Jamaican standards this kind of inconsistency is not good for business. How can you run a business like this, especially as it advertises Uber Eats, and Just Eat as an option??? We won’t be bothering again....

Al momento de hacer la reserva, mencioné que mi esposa es celiaca, lo que significa que los alimentos debían ser sin gluten, y se me informó que habría opciones disponibles para comer.Nos recibió una señora muy amable, y pensé que cuando ordenáramos nuestros entrantes debería recordarle los requisitos de mi esposa. Esta fue una buena idea, ya que nuestros entrantes estaban adaptados, no para estar cubiertos de harina, sino que tenían muchas especias y estaban deliciosos.Para nuestros platos principales, tuve el curry de cabra, y mi esposa tenía el tradicional pollo jamaicano Jerk, y ambos platos eran muy sabrosos, bien presentados y muy generosas porciones.Como nos sentimos llenos, recibimos un buen servicio y una buena relación calidad-precio, y mi esposa está en casa sin ningún problema, ¡sin duda volveremos!

Tuvimos una buena comida anoche en Breadys. Estábamos visitando Eastbourne por 2 días y queríamos probar algo un poco diferente. ¡La comida estaba increible! Teníamos el curry de cabra y jerk pollo para platos principales y algunos entrantes maravillosos. ¡Qué pena que estuviera demasiado lleno para probar los pudines! Todos los que dejaron el restaurante dijeron cosas bonitas sobre la comida. ¡Ojalá viviéramos cerca para probar su cena del domingo! El personal fue muy amable y nos hizo sentir muy bienvenidos y está claro que también se lo devuelven a su comunidad local. El negocio merece ser un gran éxito. Volveremos en nuestro próximo viaje a Eastbourne.

Habíamos estado esperando un restaurante jamaicano a nivel local, así que nos despedimos para darle un giro a esto. Pasamos 10 minutos después de la llegada, estábamos en el interior esperando a alguien sin nadie alrededor. Una vez sentado, queda claro lo básico que es el interior, pero las bebidas eran fabulosas y el servicio agradable. Fue cómicamente cuesta abajo desde allí. Decidimos probar una variedad del menú solo para descubrir que, literalmente, no tenían nada de eso, así que pedimos tener todo lo que realmente tenían. La comida fue realmente decepcionante, claramente descongelada y cocinada en el microondas, esperamos mucho tiempo entre los cursos, nunca nos explicaron lo que en realidad nos estaban sirviendo, así que era un misterio, tuvimos que esperar una edad para obtener otra bebida. Principalmente estábamos solos sin servidor alrededor. Uno de los servidores estaba claramente también preparando preguntas sobre los estándares de higiene. Si bien las torres eran tan defectuosas que nos reímos, en realidad fue una decepción y no el dinero bien gastado. Si desea una comida agradable en un entorno agradable donde habrá alguien presente en el restaurante para servirle y una selección de comida para elegir I. e. un menú real que es una selección de comida para elegir, y luego ir a otro lugar.

Just like "whomewhy", I made the pilgrimage to eat at Bready's today, Tuesday April 17th to find it closed at 13.45, without reason or apology on the door or window.

Away for the weekend we stumbled across Breadys and have to say so glad we did. Great staff (Betina was lovely), amazing food and brilliant atmosphere! We will definitely be making a trip back just to visit Breadys again!

What a great place, totally different dining experience. Great atmosphere, fun staff and excellent food. Had the jerk chicken which was just stunning. Large portions and discovered I love plantain! Also serve red stripe 👍 can't wait to go back and try something else!

Wow. What can I say, never left a bad review on Tripadvisor but this place deserves it. We came really looking forward to trying some nice Jamaican food absolutely starving too. We sat there waiting for some menus right in front of the bar and the lady working who didn’t even acknowledge us once. We finally got our own menus looked at what we wanted and waited. More time passed and again not even one glance from the lady working there. Time kept passing and finally after 15-20 mins of being ignored we asked what was going on and she finally decided to come to us. By this time we had enough and walked out. Lost out of good customers and money tonight big shame. Maybe a one off but even so, never again.

This restaurant is a little gem newly discovered . We had Jamaican curry goat rice with all the trimmings . it was truely delicious .It was as if you cooked it yourself at home .I have to admit being a very fussy eater but this meal gets 5 stars from me.Thank you Mr Bready . I highly recommend this restaurant .Not fancy just good honest wholesome proper food .

Have wanted to eat here for a while and finally got the chance to do so today, checked the website which takes you to a Facebook page which said it was open at 12 noon today. Arrived for lunch at 12.40 to find it closed. A young girl was outside, who said she was a member of staff and had been shopping for items for a Christmas do for the restaurant but had forgotten her key for this place and the man who should be there working had not turned up and she was trying to phone people to get someone to come and open it up but couldn't get hold of anyone!

The customer service was great, we felt very welcomed there. The food was quiet tasty but a little pricey compared to the London prices, oh yeah the drinks menu looked as it's the only caribean restuarant it's probably ok. Will visit again if in the area

Having visited the Hippodrome theatre in Eastbourne we were on the lookout for dinner having noticed this Restaurant the month before after we had eaten we were keen to try it. We were quite late into the Restaurant on a midweek night! There were no scowls of disappointment or shouts of we are closed! Instead a warm welcome and we were assured there was no rush ......we looked at the menu and ordered one main course each as we did not want to keep them as we have worked in the industry ourselves. The food was amazing! Being of Jamaican heritage myself I have to admit to my chagrin that it is better than any I have tasted in my 51 years of life including my own cooking! If you don’t go there you are truly missing without a doubt. Amazing authentic food, great surroundings, friendly staff and best welcome from the owner and creator. There is a takeaway menu available too. Red Stripe was a nice surprise too.

It's really great to see new restaurants opening in Eastbourne especially when they are different! We went last night for the first time and we had a great evening. Lovely staff and the food was impeccable. Loved the jerk chicken, It wasnt toooooo hot, but it defo had a kick to it. Absolutely loved it!

We dined at this restaurant in the first week of opening. We ordered four different items from the menu. The food was well cooked and served by friendly and helpful staff. My favourite dish was the Jerk Pork - a delight. Our grandson found the fish a bit of a surprise being cooked in the Jamaican manner. An enjoyable meal at a restaurant which we would recommend.

What a wonderful surprise to find such great Jamaican food in Eastbourne. The fish I ordered was clearly fresh, it was moist tasty and succulent. A good selection of dishes which are advertised as being freshly prepared and indeed lived up to the claim. The dumplings which can often be hard and dry were beautifully light and fluffy. This is not a fast food restaurant. Good food takes time to prepare and serve. Be patient it’s worth the wait. Enjoy a cocktail, juice or glass of wine...HIGHLY RECOMMEND

We went here expecting to find a little Italian we knew, since closed down, and in its place was Bready's. We enjoyed a wonderful Caribbean meal, the banter with the very genial host, jerk pork and the "Dunnes river falls" cocktails, which reminded us of a trip to Jamaica many moons ago. This new little restaurant is lovely, with great music and authentic decor. The local MP was there that night with a party, i overheard him saying he would spread the word. Bready's Delights has a great vibe and deserves to do well. Sadly each time we holiday in Eastbourne more and more places we know have closed, so many boarded up premises in town, sad to see.

After moving to Eastbourne 7 years ago, there was 1 thing missing, that was any Jamaican food!!!!! Then a year or so ago, Bready Delights started coming to our twice a week market. Now, even better, they have opened a restaurant so it is 7 days a week!!!! Staff are so friendly and helpful, food is out of this world, Deffo give them a try for something other than the usual seaside norm of fish and chips!!!!!!!!!! Highly recommended .

Enjoyed my jerk dinner so much I had to come back the next day. The food is excellent!!! The restaurant is very clean and service was fast. I have dined in and done take away, both times the food was consistent. Will be dining here regularly while staying in Eastbourne.

Had a great meal here , great back room for private dining , great food and good selection of drinks . It didn’t have that Jamaican vibe I was hoping for . But it’s a new restaurant and will do very well . The food was amazing and we all enjoyed our meal . If you haven’t tried this place already I would highly recommend you do . It’s nice to see something new in Eastbourne .

Caught a glance of the restaurant last night and had to give it a go. Excellent service, friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. All this and then the food!! Superb. Had the stew beef, fell apart on the plate and such a rich taste. Had to then have the ginger cake which was just ‘wow’. We’re back in town next week and will be visiting again. Thanks you

I had curry goat , Mrs had jerk chicken . Eastbourne has been crying out for this little gem , we travel from London to visit Eastbourne and this new restaurant is well worth a visit , rum punch knocks your socks off , well done you've got this right , delicious grub and great atmosphere.

As we were walking along Seaside Road on the evening of 12th September 2018, I glanced across the road and was pleasantly surprised when I saw the Jamaican flag colours on the Breadys Delights sign.

Understand that this is the authentic experience. Don't come here in a rush. That's not the Caribbean way. Drink a couple Red Stripes while you wait; try the rum punch. Soak up the atmosphere (aka reggae and laughter). Having grown up in the Caribbean, the whole experience took me right back to my childhood. The food was excellent. The staff were super friendly. And if you're a true Guinness fan, you'll know that anywhere serving the Foreign Extra Stout [7.5%] is worth going to - even if only for a drink (although I would definitely recommend trying the food). Knew these guys before from their food van, so when I saw they had a restaurant I just knew I had to go in. Really authentic menu. No nonsense stuff. Totally laid back. Good times. Cool runnings.

I was very excited to see a Jamaican Restaurant open in Eastbourne so I dragged the family along the same day.

Came to Bready delights for a bithday meal for my dad. 2 gus who greated us were verry friendly and the Starter of fried mango chicken was delicious sorry didnt get a picture couldn't wait to tuck in as smelt to good and wished there was more as it tasted so good... curryed goat was beyond tasty best meal iv had in quite a while. All in all a 5 star service and food. Thankyou bready delights

My partner and I went during the week and food was great. He loves hot food and I not so much.. but we both enjoyed the food. Added bonus; the waitress was super friendly and very happy to answer my questions about the different foods.

My partner and I were out and I was hoping to get something to eat at this newly opened restaurant. We rocked up at the front door and to my disappointment they had just closed because the weather was so foul!

We visited as a family for my birthday meal after visiting their food van in Eastbourne. 5 out of 5 stars for both food and service as it was both incredible. This restaurant was supposed to be open 12-3 today but it was closed with a note on the door saying back at 2. By 2.10 pm it was still not open-disappointing.

My partner and I visited the restaurant and had a lovely meal. the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant had a nice homely feel to it. The food was out of this world, the flavours were beautiful and the meat was so tender. I would highly recommend this restaurant. We will be returning regularly. :)

Bready delights is exactly that, a delight! The people, the food, the atmosphere, all 5 star. I will regularly be attending this restaurant, to try all the dishes. So far I can recommend the jerk chicken, curry goat and the oxtail... along with the coconut callaloo and dumplings/festival. Always a warm welcome here.
