BRB at the Gate in Haringey

We had delicious sharer platters for our Sunday roast. Huge portion and well priced for a good roast! Clement was a brilliant server, giving good suggestions when we asked for guidance and giving us good attention and making us feel welcome. We’ll be back!

Really great place to go, bar staff so lovely, let us in from the rain! Food was super and service was great, was going to a gig at ally pally and stopped her for lunch, will definitely return!

We really had a great experience in Starting Gate on many occasions. Their food is so good and the service is always on spot. We were served by amazing waitress Magy that was lovely and she offered us many good suggestions from drink selection and vegetarian options. We like to come back every time.

I came for a quiet meal and found the staff to be friendly, which was a positive start. However, the food did not meet expectations. The lamb rump was very small, and the potatoes and vegetables were cold. It's a shame, as I was really looking forward to enjoying my meal.

The portion was generous and really tasty. The staff (particularly Aytun) were attentive, kind and helpful. It’s been a while since I’ve eaten at The Starting Gate but I will be coming back much more often now. The fish and chips were exactly as I like them.

We took my son and his girlfriend here for a drink on Saturday 17/2.We bought our drinks at the bar and ordered 2 bowls of chips at the bar (£5 ea). We carried our drinks to the table. The chips took a long time to arrive and the bowls were small and not full, poor considering the price! One bowl of chips was just warm. The drinks were expensive even by London standards- £6.40 for a pint of London Pride (usually £5.20ish). The G & T was £12.25. Plus on top of this we were charged £4.27 service charge. Our total bill was £46.97 for 2 pints of beer, 1 pint of cider and 1 G & T.plus two small bowls of chips! Shame, we used to pop in regularly but will go elsewhere now. It’s a nice pub inside except for the loos which definitely need a good clean and refresh. Disappointing as this pub has so much potential.

A very nice looking pub with good beer and food. Unfortunately let down by poorly train staff and gross toilets that need a clean and an upgrade. The pub was busy due to an event at ally pally and so there were a lot of bar staff. However it still took ages to get served as they were all stood around chatting. The lady with the red hair was good but the rest need to get focused.

We had a lovely meal and drinks with very friendly staff however my only criticism would be how very cold it was inside the pub even though the radiators were on we were still chilly and kept our coats on. But when the weather is warmer I expect it’s a perfect little pub to have drinks and food.

Food was very nice and good selection of drinks. Deducted one star for service as it was a bit difficult getting the attention of staff (even though they were not busy) and stock levels, which they blamed on a busy lunch period due to the Masters Snooker taking place nearby at Alexandra Palace.
