Brasserie Blanc in Winchester

Very good value on a Monday evening with rump steaks cooked perfectly. Service was excellent and house wine very acceptable.

Great service, food and atmosphere. We enjoyed all of the above on a Saturday lunchtime. Good for carnivores, not so many vegetarian choices. Delicious fayre.

We visited today for Sunday lunch. We have always enjoyed the ambience, friendly staff and food. Today however surpassed every previous visit. The crab bon bons with brown crab mayonnaise, delicious roast beef which was exceptional. A chocolate feuillitine to share. The piece de resistance was the total surprise to have the singing talents of Muriele. We had no idea that on the first Sunday of the month Muriele is there doing some sets. As well as the delightful restaurant experience, we were uplifted by Murielés renditions of La Vie en Rose snd Sous le ciel de Paris. Brasserie Blanc provided such a special visit today. Thank you

Needed to eat before a ‘night out’ in town and had no problem booking a table for two at short notice. Great bistro menu and decor to match. Friendly service, good food all round and fantastic bottle of viognier to wash it all down. Highly recommend.

The onion soup and the venison main course were both delicious, followed by a beautifully composed dessert. As a bonus the coffee, a disappointment in many restaurants, was as always excellent. Fast and friendly service as usual.

14 of us had a lovely evening for my retirement party. The food was excellent and nothing was too much trouble for the staff who had given us our own area. Will be going back again for certain!

We are lucky enough to have Brasserie Blanc Winchester at the top of our road! Booked an early dinner at short notice with the express intention of trying the prix fixe menu, although neither of us found it very exciting. Great to be proved wrong - we both had the pork rillettes starter and the steak frites main and both were delicious, with generous portions of frites and steak. (I do agree with reviews elsewhere that BB could be a bit more generous with the bread though...) My husband was very happy with the travel sponge. Great service as always - we eat here often over many years and have never had anything less.

Disappointed Steak lacking flavour and succulence. Processed French Fries dry and lacking in taste. Dessert good but main very poor. Hence don’t feel inclined to return any time soon

Lovely meal - excellent service - super food! Had the hake and it was a divine experience, the way they cooked the fish was a creative experience as all the elements combined perfectly together. The pistachio soufflé was another recommendation that complement the meal perfectly. Can’t begin to say how amazing the service was, having tried most restaurants in Winchester they definitely set the bar very high. Thanks for a night we will remember and you will see us again.

We have visited quite a few Brasserie Blanc including the restaurants in Portsmouth and Chichester. Today we were in Winchester so of course we came here. We usually order the chateaubriand which was really tasty & tender & as it was steak night we enjoyed a complimentary bottle of house wine with our meal. Also there was a special desert of raspberry soufflé which I really enjoyed. Gabrielle was our server & she was super friendly & efficient. She was always on hand when we needed something & always had a smile. We had a really happy evening & would not hesitate to return. Thank you.

We are regulars and the food and service were excellent as usual. In addition prices are always reasonable and standards are consistently good.

We enjoyed a 3 course meal here with a bottle of Malbec and also ordered the chateaubriand. Every thing was perfect and the waiter was also cheerful and polite. I would say the restaurant could do with a little update in the interior, the table looked worn and the plastic green foliage on the ceiling looks a bit dated now. Apart from that we would return.

We had a group of 16, and therefore pre-ordered from a list of 2-3 options for starter, main and dessert. Cheese souffle was lovely, steak was tasty and done as ordered, dessert was delicious. Service was good.

Took our son and friends for an 18th Birthday dinner; it was really easy to book and set up (party of 14); the staff were exceptionally helpful; allowed us to come early and decorate; bring our own cake. They were knowledgable and attentive without being on top of us, bringing water as it was needed for the 18 year-olds enjoying their wine! The mediterranean fish soup was delicious, as was the duck confit. The boys loved their steaks!! It was a lovely atmosphere and I would highly recommend. I went with friends for dinner after booking online just the day before. I live in Winchester since 10 years, but went to Brasserie Blanc for the first time last night and was pleasantly surprised with the quality and variety of food (between us, we had the trout, pork, steak and king prawn main dishes), excellent service and nice atmosphere. Contrary to more popular restaurants in Winchester, we were not rushed to leave the table in 2 hours (we actually booked for 6:30 pm and left at 9:40pm) and the included service charge was 10% rather than 12.50% practised by other places around. Totally recommend!

We celebrated a special birthday for a very large group (20 people) It was perfect from the moment I enquired about the restaurant hosting our dinner to us leaving the restaurant. Joana who one of the senior managers was amazing. Helpful and kind. The food was beautiful and the service was outstanding. The staff were friendly and helpful the entire evening and when you are serving a massive table it can be really hard work and they were brilliant! Fantastic food and service. First time we've visitied. From the moment you walk in the door you are made to feel very welcome and nothing is too much trouble. My daughter orderd the burger and althoguh it was cooked, it wasn't quite to my her liking. I asked if it could be grilled for a little longer - this was no problem for them at all and they provided a whole new dish. Fantastic food, fantastic service. We will defintley be back.

Went there for my daughters birthday, she had been there once before and enjoyed the food. My daughter had the sausage and mash. The sausages were tasty however there was probaly 3 tablespoonfuls of mash, underneath was supposidly cripy onions, not, and all covered in the gravy. Why they do this I dont know. My son and his wife had the steak, which they enjoyed but the peppercorn sauce was awful, watery and tastless. I had the beef bourguignon, I had seen this posted on you tube, by brasserie blanc. We've eaten here twice in the last couple of weeks, the first was Friday lunch with special friends, one of whom suffers from dementia. The wonderful Georgiana handled this with such tact and diplomacy, for which we were so grateful. The second time was yesterday early evening, just us two, a starter and a burger each. We loved the new spring starters (the chalkstream trout tartar beautifully presented and tasty, the baked cheese outstanding). Great atmosphere, excellent service and very welcoming.

It was our first time to the Winchester restaurant and we went for a pre-theatre meal. It was nicely busy, with a lovely buzzy vibe, and the service was attentive and very helpful in terms of advice for my gluten free husband. The food was tasty and nicely presented. A lovely evening all round.

Very nice meal. I had cheese soufflé to start which was a bit too much for me in terms of amount but was still really good. We also had the baked chestnut mushrooms with duxelle which was average and not worth it tbh. For mains we had the herb crusted lamb roulade which was decent but the dauphinois potatoes lacked flavour and the jus was quite thin. We also had the confit duck which was nice, I have nothing to complain about there. Overall it was a good meal, good service and they always have some sort of offer or a discount you can get so I’d definitely go again.

Visited for Christmas Day dinner, the food was lovely although it was very busy the food came out hot and was beautiful, I don’t like to be rushed and finish a course then have another course put in front of me so it was nice to have a little break in between courses. Awful experience from start to finish. Waited for our table for over an hour! We were told continuously just another 5 minutes. . When we eventually sat at our table the service was slow and the main course was cold. Most definitely will not be going again.

The atmosphere and décor were really lovely and created a private space in what was a very busy restaurant. For us the huge plus was how wheelchair accessible the venue was. Having been let down by another local venue the support and service at BB was brilliant. Service was little slow in places but it was Christmas and they were busy so no real problem at all. Will certainly consider the venue again for work parties.

We came to brassiere blanc today for an impromptu lunch and it was so good. The menu had so much to choose from it was hard to decide what to have. We chose, the moules marinaire, cheese soufflé with bread and garlic and herb stuffed mushrooms everybody said it was all delicious, for mains we had the pork with dauphinois potatoes which came with a delicious jus and braised cabbage and coleslaw , the pork was so tender it melted in your mouth, my friends steak was also perfect with salad peas and sauce and chips. We’re we too full for dessert? Yes, but it’s Christmas so 2 had the most delicious toffee sponge with creamy sauce and biscuit it was absolutely yumcious and the other friend had soufflé with ice cream and friut and again it was fabulous. The service was just right, attentive but not in your face. We didn’t feel rushed so had time to chat, laugh and enjoy the meal was very reasonably priced and would def recommend. We met a small group of friends for lunch. Everyone chose from the autumn menu and all the meals and courses were throughly enjoyed. Service was efficient, friendly and polite. Our only slight criticism would be that the ambient noise level was very loud making conversation on a long table a little difficult. Overall a very good lunch enjoyed by all.

Unfortunately this was an awful meal . We have never had a bad meal at this BB Winchester . It was our anniversary so we decided to have a Sunday roast at BB . The service and the starters we as always excellent . Then the roast arrived ,the roast potatoes were grey hard and cold ,the carrots and parsnips were also cold . The replacement veg and roast potatoes were hot ,but the potatoes were still grey and inedible . The manager took our mains off the bill and were very apologetic . This was all very disappointing as we have been going to BB Winchester for many years and is our favourite restaurant in Winchester ,the service and food in the past has always been excellent

I visited here with my mum for an early evening meal whilst visiting Winchester Christmas market. On arrival we were quickly shown to our table and offered water for the table and given menus. We opted for the Christmas Party Menu. I chose the pork terrine to start which was delicious, and my mum enjoyed the cod croquettes. For mains we both had the turkey. Whilst the meal tasted good, my food was not very warm (and I randomly had far fewer vegetables than my mum had!). When the waitress asked how the food was, I mentioned the temperature, but as I was hungry, I was happy to eat it (and I didn't fancy reheated turkey). The waitress obviously informed the manager who came and again offered to redo the plate, but my mum was nearly finished and I didn't fancy eating alone. Completely unprompted, the manager offered to only charge us for a 2-course set menu, rather than the 3 courses we had (so £5 off each meal). We both had the creme brulee for dessert which was really good, followed by tea and mince pies which was a nice way to end the meal. The restaurant was busy, and I believe there was also a large party in, which impacted the kitchen. I have no issues recommending this restaurant as the customer service was 100%. My meal may not have been perfect but the staff were very keen to make amends. Restaurants can't be perfect all of the time, but the way they deal with issues when they arise speaks volumes. I look forward to my next meal at Brasserie Blanc when I'm next in Winchester!

We booked into the Brasserie Blanc based in the TripAdvisor comments. We were blown away by the excellent food and service. The menu has plenty if choice that will accommodate most dietary needs. The service was attentive without being pushy Last and just as important, the price was lower than expected. Highly recommended.

Visiting my sister from N Yorkshire & was treated to Sunday lunch on 3rd. The place was packed & buzzing. Having spent many years in the business I was impressed with the air of calm among the busy busy staff. My beef was rare & melt in the mouth!! Portions were very good & the food was hot. Apple & goosegog crumble really yummy & the “house” whites & reds we chose were really good quality and value. Our servers were attentive friendly & & actually smiled!!! There has to be one negative- either the kitchen ran out of proper Roastie potatoes or they can’t cook ‘em. Mine were pallid & oily. I’m sure the Head Chef will have words. Overall a really enjoyable lunch & in todays ripoff prices exceedingly good value.

The occasion was a family birthday lunch and Brasserie Blanc provided an exceptionally good experience. Friendly and helpful service, fantastic food and a great atmosphere. All of us said that we should plan to come back soon as some of our family were missing and would love this experience. Well done to the whole team at BB.

We were hassled away from our table after 90 minutes where the website clearly states two hours. We had a table at 12pm on 2/12 and at 1.20 were told the next party were in the bar and if we wanted coffee, we would have to move to the bar, then the staff literally stood over us while we got ready to leave. They apologised but it’s not good enough. Greedy management. We won’t be back.

A really nice experience, the restaurant was welcoming and busy for early evening. We shared a starter of Crab Bon Bons and had mains of pork and sea bass, both were excellent. Again we shared a pistachio soufflé which was superb. The bill was very reasonable. A real big shout out to our waitress Gabriella who was very professional, engaging and a lovely young woman.
