No accessible toilets is a real drawback

Absolute woke nonsense can’t believe what they have turned such a good pub into. Jessie Mays will be well missed and they have replaced it with that absolute rubbish. Disgusted. Not even worth staying for a pint.

What a gem! We often walk past thinking we should try it -and we finally did and loved it. All thanks to Abby who was really welcoming, warm, absolutely lovely and friendly. Perfect! Looking forward to our next visit, hopefully for food this time

Changed to the Brass Monkey middle of 2022 and a good place for burger and chips. All I've tried so far and can't fault it. Good staff and not a bad pint of Tennents if a little steep price wise for the area. Student discount available which will sort that out for many. Will be back! 👍

Well decorated modern bar, with a good choice of beers and spirits. Some quirky decor and furnishings too, like a repurposed bus seat!

Brass Monkey Grange is fantastic, the range of draught beers is excellent, but the best thing is the staff:- all are great, but Annabell (sp) is superb - she remembers my name, what I drink and is always happy and chatty. Well done BMG!

Rude and dismissive. Refused to serve based on lack of ID despite me being the oldest-looking in our group (late 20s, early 30s) while managing to completely avoid eye contact with me. Nice ambiance though. Very quaint.

This place has a good vibe, and it made a good burger so all good really.

I sometimes go to Dr Paul's pub quiz here. It's the highlight of my week. The interior is very nice and the seating layout is very effective - they fit in a lot of people without making it too cramped. Drinks are a fair price for the location. Student discount available. Food is very nice although usually too expensive for me. Good range of beers and ciders on tap. The toilets are extremely clean and consistently kept in excellent condition - I cannot overstate how much I appreciate this. Accessible entrance at the back. Only one very minor issue: Whenever I order a glass of water with other drinks/food, the water is often forgotten. This has happened a few times. Hydration is good for you. Please remember my water.

Very nice and upscale pub, perfect for a refreshing pint after a day of working at the Liberal Democrats campaign office across the street. Highly recommend a glass of tempranillo while enjoying the Thursday pub quiz.

We love this place. Came from Bristol and everyone is so nice. Food is tasty and not super expensive. Staff is helpful and nice even though it gets busy. Absolute recommendation. Love it here.

The best Philly cheesesteak sandwich and fries with best drinks I’ve ever had in UK. we also got burger that was nice too, but the Philly cheesesteak made me wish to live in Edinburgh 🥲

Me and 2 friends came into the establishment, sat down and the manager without reason refused to serve us and was very rude! Do not go here early in the day because you might catch the manager in a bad mood because that would be the only explanation for it!

Will definitely be back. Now our favorite pub in this part of Edinburgh so far after several visits over the past year. Reasonably priced drinks and food. Loved the food we had ans what we saw going to other tables. Can recommend the nachos and loaded fries and burgers. Friendly and helpful staff.

We’ve been coming every week for the pub quiz for about a year now and couldn’t recommend Brass Monkey enough. From the food to the atmosphere, everything is fantastic. Most of all, the staff - always friendly and welcoming, even when they’re slammed. Favourite pub in Edinburgh.

Was here last night with my family visiting from America. They were able to accommodate a table of 7 with multiple kids and a dog last minute and the food was awesome! I liked the haggis Bon bons and Philly cheesesteak.

Lovely little pub. Despite being upfront about it not being a good day, the staff were courteous and helpful, even taking moments to chat us up a bit. They made good recommendations from the menu and for local beverages. Cozy pub and not overly crowded on any of the nights we walked by, making it fairly easy to get a table without a reservation. More unique food offered here than the nearby pubs that makes it stand out. Whether this a good thing or not i leave to your personal judgement! My wife and I certainly enjoyed it though.

Went for meal on Saturday. Staff very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Simple menu but enough options for a variety of preferences. Fish'n'chips very good. Welcoming restaurant for wide range of customers and great for going in groups. Warm and relaxing decor. Also had board games.

We had dinner last night and it was fantastic. The choice is great, quality and presentation amazing, the staff are super friendly, warm and helpful and the overall vibe is just right for us, like hanging out at your pals house. We are definitely going to be back regularly.

Booked the area at the back for an afternoon gathering after my mother's funeral last month. Staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Hot and cold snacks were delicious (and they quietly brought out more for the people arriving later which was very much appreciated.) A big thank you to Rose and her colleagues for looking after us so well.

Started going here on Mondays on the way home from football after spotting the £12 burger and beer deal. A nice place to sit, comfortable with decent background music and a couple of good local beers on tap. I’ve found the burgers and chips to be very good - one night there was an issue having to wait a long time for the food, perhaps because it was busier than usual - but the staff, who were excellent, made it up to me.

Fantastic bar, had a great evening with friends after work. Highly recommend especially on quiz nights!

Good recently refurbished pub in Newington. Decor is funky and welcoming, choose a booth or a bar stool for a range of beers and lagers or wine and cocktails. Student deals as well as £12 for a beer and burger on Monday. Menu is burgers and pub favourites, looked good. Staff were very welcoming.

Nice decor, really good atmosphere, good beer selection, tasty food and kids friendly. Enjoyed ourselves very much and will defo be back soon. Highly recommended.

Cozy and friendly staff, gave this place a slot as our usual choice was full due to the Fringe. We were expecting standard pub burgers but were pleasantly surprised by the food, the burger (we both had the blue cheese & bacon one) was incredibly fresh and very much more restaurant quality at pub prices and the fries weren't just an afterthought like in most places but actually very tasty. We'll have to come back here more often!

It has just reopened after refurbishment so it seems to have some teething problems. I will visit it again in the near future.
