Lovely breakfast so welcoming, definitely worth a visit as Four in a Bed winner. Matt and his team were lovely.

Had a meal in here on Saturday evening, was a little concerned as we were the only ones in there, but service was good, food was good but a little expensive, dining area looked a bit tired, would eat here again

Really impressed with the food ..huge portions, piping hot and beautifully presented .Friendly staff and lovely surroundings .Good value for money .

Lovely food on the hottest day of the year so far, so we opted for a couple of Pimms with ginger ale rather than wine; and shared our starters as well as the one main course between us - the portion size being so generous. The finely chopped salad added a really nice touch.

My husband & I have eaten at the Brandon House a few times and have always enjoyed the food. We are very lucky to be 3 mins up the road from it. Last night we decided to eat out and I am so glad we did; the food was particularly delicious. I had the Steak & Ale pie for main, Roasted Red Pepper soup to start and it was all gorgeous. Rich, hearty, tasty and generous. My husband had the Steak & Rib Combo as main and the Chicken Wings to start. Clean plates all round. Service, as always, was efficient, friendly and I feel the staff believe in what they deliver; excellent local food and service. Thank you, Jaz & Pat.

This restuarant was recommended to us by the hotel staff and was nice and close to where we stayed. The food was beautifully cooked and presented and despite being in quite luxurious surroundings, we were very pleased withthe overall cost of the food and drinks. Highly recommend it.

Room 204. Breakfasts good. Tv fine. Room warm & clean. Staff friendly & helpful. Close to town & station & local walk. Negatives - shower was a bit useless & bathroom blind ended about 9" from the bottom of the window making me feel like i was exposing my 'bits' to the world including while using the loo. Furniture dated & adapted/repaired. Overall could have been better but not a bad stay. Would book at this hotel again.

They have a pleasant restaurant as well as the ioption to eat in the bar. Menu is classic British pub type food and reasonable prices. I didn't know what the cooking was like so played it safe with ribs/ steak combo. Good sized portion, well cooked. Service friendly and quick.

Nice quiet restaurant with a decent selection. Daily specials were quite enjoyable and at reasonable prices.

I enjoyed the chunky chips. I came here a about 3 times. Twice for food and once for drinks. The first time I came here I had a burger. The burger was average. The second time I came here I remember 3 of us wanting steaks but they only had a 2. I was one of the lucky...ones who had the steak, which was average but was rescued by some nice chips. When I came here for drinks I asked the waitress to tell me the specials and she told me to read the board myself. I'm not in the service industry but I'm pretty sure that isn't actual service. Most of the people who come seemed like out-of-towners. I could tell this from the number of fingers on their hands and use of actual words.I may come here again but I won't have my hopes up for fine dining.

This excellent restaurant has a reasonably priced menu and good sized portions. The food was hot and tasty (Steak and Ribs) yummy. The staff were attentive and friendly. A good meal and reasonable prices make this a must visit.

We very much enjoyed the ribs and steak combo we both had for our main course, the portions were large, the meat was tender and tasty and cooked according to our different preferences. Despite there only being one one waitress serving, we received our food promptly and she kindly replaced a glass of wine, which didn’t seem quite right, without a fuss, even though I’d drunk a fair bit.

For starters the soup was excellent followed by as equally excellent main course.Also i must mention the top class staff.

Food here is all freshly cooked, main menu is not complicated and plenty of 'Specials', the food is piping hot and of great quality. Prices are more than reasonable and service is attentive but not 'in your face' Highly recommended. Give it a try!

Went to a party lovely clean place and the party food was fresh and very tasty and very plentiful . Staff were very friendly gardens all well kept .

We visited this restaurant as an alternative to the food at Centre Parcs 4 miles away. On our arrival we were surprised to see very few cars in the car park, especially as the pub opposite was absolutely packed.The welcome was very pleasant and we were shown to our table. The fact that we were the only people there worried us. There were a small group in the bar but that was it !!The restaurant was nicely decorated, clean, warm and the service very good and friendly. There was a reasonably good choice on the menu plus a good 'specials' board.Having selected drinks and food we then waited, probably longer than you might normally expect. Our group of 5 began getting twitchy .... I was thinking what have I done lol.However when the food arrived WOW !! We all had something different and by completion we all sang the chefs praises without fail. Personally I had Chicken Kiev from the specials board and it was delicious, never had one that nice. My whole family had similar things to say about their own dishes.We asked our waitress why it was so quiet and she said it was much busier during the week due to movement of trades and workers returning home at weekends.She also said that the food is genuinely home cooked and that didn't surprise us. Very nice.So people of Brandon and the surrounding areas, YOU ARE MISSING a trick here OR you know somewhere even better (if you do I would love to know). This restaurant is a bit of a hidden jewel give it a try, its not even expensive £75 for 5 adults including drinks and two of my lot had a sweet too.Recommended !!

We came to Brandon for a family funeral and arrived here for dinner with elderly parents and had a warm welcome. The food was very tasty and home made. We all had something different and all dishes came at the same time and all were hot. The wine list was small but the bottle of merlot we had was nice. All at a very reasonable price. Would definite recommend.

My work colleagues and I were staying in the hotel and popped by for dinner before bed one night. The staff were friendly and accomodating, even for our colleague with nut allergies, and served us quickly with extremely large portions of delicious food. I had the scampi which came with enormous chips and my colleagues the curry which I was very envious of.

As Residents at the Hotel we eat here during each night of our stay. Menu was varied with. Some interesting choices. VERY generous portions, too much for our limited appetites.

Just stayed here had a lovely time great staff and so helpful.We had an annex and it was like a small apartment lovely stay recommend

The first reason to eat here would be if you, like us, were staying in the hotel. The second reason would be a very limited choice of alternatives. The third would be that is reasonably priced, offers decent food and enough choice for at least one visit. It wasn't fabulous but was ok and we would eat here again if we were staying more than one night in Brandon.

Large portions, well cooked and speedy service despite a technical hitch with the ovens. Good variety to chose from and nice to eat where you staying.

The food at Brandon House Hotel was excellent, with a wide choice. We were particularly impressed by the number of vegetarian options. Value for money.

We ate here as before and on arrival was kept waiting at reception rang the bell twice as no one there, , service some what slow, but the food was amazing. Definitely wouldn't stay here in the hotel, we stayed at the bridge hotel across the way, fantastic. Soup was scrumptious, and we had the chicken korma plenty of it.. See from other comments people felt over priced, but we thought for what we had it was a fair price... Please do improve your staff waitresses dress code they looked liked they had just come to work in glad rags, beautiful dining room, beautiful decor & lovely food..

Enough choice to suit anyone's tastes and pocket!Go hungry though, as the portion sizes are large. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff in making sure your experience is a good one. Extremely good value for money for Dinner!

Good tasty food, well priced however the portion sizes were overwhelming. None of the party were able to finish their main courses. Even the pudding g servings were on the large size. Not a criticism but less is more.

Great food just as good as my steak in America last year would eat there tomorrow beautiful 1st class fantastic size portions and what a flavour the rib eye was cooked just right and omg my Eton mess was so so big best I've ever had and we stayed there for 2 nights and the breakfast was 1st class to I even told the chef ....

A Brandon institution and always a friendly welcome and I am pleased to say it is improving after a shaky few years. The quality appears to be back. Still away behind the ASHGAR but getting closer.

Service rather slow, possibly a new member! On asking whatvwas the soup of the day, she had no idea, I then asked if she could go and find out for us.... However the food was very tasty, Lovely soup and the portions were more than enough. We had the steak and ale pie which was absolutely yummy. Have to say definitely good value for money. Our only niggle was as there was just the 2 of us, we were at times forgotten, wherevas the table behind us of about 6 seemed to be getting served and things centered around them, leaving the rest of us just waiting. . Seemed it was the same guy having to try and do it all.. But friendly when serving us..

I stayed at the hotel, I had my evening meal and Breakfast in the restaurant, I have to say that both were excellent. The evening meal was cooked to perfection, the taste and flavours were outstanding. The price was comparable with any good restaurant not excessive. The normal thinng is good evening food which you pay for and breakfast being poor as it is included in the price. Not here breakfast was outstanding with more than enough food to last you the day. Well done Brandon House

We dined twice at the Brandon House Hotel while staying at The Bridge Hotel. The hotel has a good menu at reasonable prices and the service was good, particularly on our second visit. One member of our party could not make it to the hotel for dinner one evening and we asked for food to be prepared for taking away at the end of our meal. The staff were extremely helpful, making sure that the take-away food was not prepared until we were about to leave. No hesitations about recommending this restaurant. Tip: we did not make a reservation for either of our visits and they seemed surprised by our arrival on both occasions so perhaps a reservation would help.

We were staying at another hotel nearby and it was recommended to give this restaurant a try. We were pleasantly surprised. Although the restaurant was small, the staff were friendly and attentative and the food was excellent - great value for money. We can highly recommend the steak & ale pie, good portions and not at silly prices. Wholesome home cooked food by an excellent chef.

Worked with us from start to finish for a fabulous Christmas party! Everything from a specialized menu to a private dining room the staff were excellent in accommodating our needs.

Food was really good and got really big portions to big as I had to leave nearly half of mine. But was very expensive and so was drinks. Would recommend as a treat or special occasion but expensive for just a meal out.

Called in for a Sunday carvery with my family only to find they no longer do them.One very disappointed family!

All was good - very warm welcome, being refurbished but that didn't affect us. Bedrooms lovely and clean. breakfast was lovely. We went for a concert in Thetford Forest which was great, appears to be lots to do but we were only there for an overnight stay

Had to put pen to paper...or rather finger to key about this place...went there for a Sunday lunch recently and the level of service was outstanding...a short but well defined menu with something for most tastes and reasonably priced... food was good but sometimes you have to recognise the folks that make these places tick and I have nothing but the highest regard for the friendliness and hospitality received from start to finish.

Very nice for Christmas Parties been twice now with the company I work for,first as a sit down then 2013 as a buffet enjoyed the buffet better, aso been therejust for a meal nice and pleasent and very clean.

When we last visited, we called up during late morning to book a table for early afternoon- yep that's fine they say... We got there and we que up for Carvery- veg and puddings running low- so My dad asks if there's any more(by the time it got to him the rest of out party, 5 others, there wasn't much left) to be told oh no sorry what you see Is all that's left we have has a gas/electric issue and won't be cooking anymore!!! My dad was fuming as they were ok to take our booking some60-70 mins earlier! After talking to another member of staff she had said it was off since 10am do they knew fully well when we booked but chose to say nothing!! It was very disappointing and I have never been back since an I have lived in Brandon all my life. I'm yet to go back! Would need to be a lot better!!

The restaurant was very clean had a good ambience,and the food was varied and excellent value. The staff were attentive without being overbearing. Would definitely eat here again and would not hesitate to recommend to friends and family.

We used the restaurant as part of our stay at the hotel. The food we found to be excellent but very large portions. Its worth trying the Brandon pie which is different each day. After each evening meal we needed a walk to let the food go down and when we mentioned this to the staff the chef suggested we have a starter and a desert rather than a main course. This made quite a bit of difference to our meals. Overall as the title says "local sourced food well cooked" but you need a very good appetite to enjoy the menu properly. Would certainly eat there again.

Our walking group of fourteen people turned up at 2pm on a Sunday without a reservation. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful, and quickly laid a large table in a separate function room. The food from the carvery was cooked well and represented very good value. The service was excellent: the restaurant was busy during the lunch service but the staff were cheerful and stepped up a gear when we turned up. Well done!

We called in at the hotel for their Sunday Carvery. It was not a planned visit and we'd rejected somewhere else locally as not being our kind of place. We made up our minds to go in on the basis of the menu displayed outside. Two of the waitresses greeted us as we entered the hotel. We were shown to a choice of tables in the Tap Room.The menu choices are not huge but we picked the prawn cocktail to start with. It was well presented on a piece of slate and tasted good. There was a choice of beef, turkey and ham from the carvery. We opted for the beef which was cooked to perfection. There were plain steamed vegetables and the hotel's special cabbage with dairy-free cream and wholegrain mustard. The staff helped us to load our plates and take them to our table as we both have mobility difficulties.The staff are friendly, check throughout the meal that everything is all right and change anything that isn't - an orange and soda water that should have been fresh orange.There were several tables booked and the restaurant seems to be a regular haunt for some. The lounge looked welcoming with its log fire.Brandon House Hotel is a 40 minute drive from our house but it's worth it for a Sunday lunch. We'll be back!

oh dear what a huge dissapointment. Visited for a Sunday Carvery and usually when you have a Carvery there is always something that is not to your liking. However not one thing was tasty.The Beef was tasteless,together with the turkey dry and the veg were the worst I we have ever tasted and the yorkshire puds,cold,hard and tastleless. The room we sat is was so hot we could not wait to get out of there. On a plus note the staff were lovely but food was the worst meal out we have had in a long,long time.

This is a really good place to stop if you are going to Thetford Forest. The parking is on 70p for the whole day. Wonderful and quiet when we were there.

We had the Sunday Carvery with friends in the restaurant. The place was very busy, with lots of returning customers. Service was excellent, and the food delicious. It was very good value with one, two and three course options. A choice of three roast meets, roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings and a choice of seasonal vegetables. A lovely way to spend a Sunday with family or friends. Tip: book for the carvery as they were fully booked the day we visited, and they could not accommodate 'walki-ins'.

We visited the Brandon House Restaurant for the Sunday Carvery and have to say that it was a really excellent lunch. The setting was spacious and comfortable with well laid tables and attentive and friendly staff. They served a fine selection of perfectly cooked meat and vegetables which were fresh and hot, we even delved into the desserts which were a delight (sticky toffee pudding with home made custard with real vanilla!! - yumm) A good quality carvery is difficult to come by and we often feel let down by them (especially the budget ones) but by paying a pound or two more we have found a cracking place.

Judging by previous reviews this hotel is popular for Sunday carvery lunches, however, on a Monday in November 2012, we were the only diners. The restaurant was a little on the chilly side, and we had to ask for the music to be turned down because it was so loud. The food was excellent (sea bass), and the cheese platter only lacked enough crackers for the amount of cheese included. The waitress was a little too attentive, and took my main course plate away before my partner had finished eating. On the whole, quite good, and I'd certainly return.

When you suddenly get a craving on a Sunday lunchtime for a carvery then this venue should be high up on your list. Brandon House is a lovely old imposing building set back from the road with plenty of parking space and I was immensely impressed with the quality, size and value of their carvery offering. Rarely have I had such a satisfying and filling meal that ticks all of the boxes and the service was outstanding and friendly..very impressed and well worth a visit!

Warning to other travelers the menu on the Brandon House website for the Garden Room restaurant is totally inaccurate.My wife and myself were visiting Brandon on the evening of the 12th July 2012 and after reading the great description on the Brandon House website detailing the wonderful menu Steve the chef had created for the Garden Room restaurant we arrived at the hotel looking forward to a great meal as described on the website, only to find the website is totally inaccurate, the menu in reality is now just a cheap Harvester/ McDonald's burger chain menu, the staff when asked about the website menu just moaned the website was out of date and walked off ,and I presume Steve the chef was the unshaven guy wearing a tatty chefs outfit propping up the bar.Misleading the public with false information on the website is criminal.

Terrible service, appalling expensive food, they seem to forget they are one of many restaurants in a small area and need to be competitive both on price and quality. Would not go here again

all we ever want on a sunday is a good sunday roast call in at the brandon house hotel for sunday carvery was a proper sunday carvery all the triming an an excelent product they have produced to the highest standard i have ever seen none of this £2.99 crap we all dread best in suffolk an norfolk by far thanks where comming back soon x 5 star

Worst veggie food I have eaten in years and quite a wait for the food. First night risotto was bland and mushy. 2nd night Thai vegetable curry was awful. Tasted burnt and no flavour despite asking specifically for it to be made extra spicy. Rubbish! But my friend is a meat eater and she said the meat was very good both nights. Nice hotel but if you are veggie don't have eve meals there. Breakfast had good selection of cereals, yoghurt, fruit and juices but cooked breakfast did not offer any vegetarian substitute for the meat equivalents and the portion size was not adjusted for the missing items...we were only given 1 hash brown and half a greasy fried mushroom and 1 poached egg when my meat eating friend was tucking into a plate full of meat.

Beautifully done and great food, it's a nice place to go for Sunday roast. Breakfast was very good too.

We eat here rather often and are never disappointed! The regular menu is delicious and their Sunday carvery is too! Great prices and very convenient for us. Lots of parking in the car park! Family friendly place for sure. Dine outside in the summer for a lovely experience as well.

We both had roast pork and were more than happy. Attentive but not intrusive service; reasonable portions; fresh vegetables.

We decided to use this restaurant as a Fathers Day treat for my father-in-law. We should have taken the fact that the restaurant wasn't busy as a sign.After choosing a table, a waitress took our drinks order, two soft drinks and two half lager shandies. As we were waiting for our drinks I cleaned the watermarks off the cutlery. A different waiter returned with the drinks, two soft drinks, a pint of bitter and a bitter shandy. After we pointed this mistake out to the chap, the drinks were replaced.We then ordered our meals and, as you can order items not on the menu, my father-in-law ordered gammon. About ten minutes later, the waitress (who had also taken the drinks order) returned to ask how I wanted my tuna steak and then to inform us that the chef was not happy with the gammon going out, could we order something else. My father-in-law then ordered a beef sandwich. The waitress left again and when she returned with three of our meals, informed us that there was no beef, chicken or pork for the sandwiches and could we order something else. My father-in-law ordered the chicken and bacon burger. Twenty five minutes later, after two of us had finished our meals, the waitress returned with the final meal. We were told by one of the male members of staff that because of the mix up, he would sort us out with extra drinks. These never arrived. At no point were we offered any salad dressings or sauces nor did anyone come over to ask if everything was to our satisfaction.My wife spoke to a member of staff who looked managerial and passed her email address on. She was told that someone would contact her to 'sort something out'. We never received an email.After we finished our meal, the waitress who had taken our orders presented us with the bill. Also wrong, they had tried to charge us for the bitter and bitter shandy that we didn't order.All in all, an eventful but not particularly satisfactory dining experience.
