A beautiful walled garden to have a wander and enjoy the setting. Lovely little shop units too. We met Lee who works in the garden and had a very friendly chat about the plants, he was very informative and helpful. Then we had tea and the best scone with jam and cream that we've had for a long time!

I love Bradley Gardens I have visited previously and enjoyed the beautiful location. I live in Toronto and have family who live in Wylam. I was visiting in March and suggested meeting my brother for coffee at Bradley Gardens. We arrived at 11.20 am and asked for a table for two. The receptionist asked if we had booked. As we looked around the cafe was nearly empty. The receptionist said there would be an hour wait unless someone left. I had to use the washroom and as I was returning two individuals left. I asked the receptionist if they now had a table free and she informed us that no every table was booked. She said we could sit outside. We sat at an outside table but it was cold and starting to rain. We felt like second class citizens sitting outside in the rain looking in on a more than half empty cafe. On our walk back on hour later the cafe was still less than half full. I will never go back to Bradley Gardens. The reception we received was cold and just didn’t make any sense. I spoke to my sister afterwards and discovered that Bradley Gardens has a shortage of waiting Staff, the service is slow so often the staff just refuse to take anyone who drops by. Delightful as this place is I would give a wide birth unless you book in advance and don’t mind poor service.

I'd heard really good things about this place so really wanted to visit. Unfortunately it didn't live up to expectations. The service wasn't great, it took a while to order as only certain staff can take orders. Food was overpriced for what it was. As other people have had better experiences, I would probably give it another chance but unfortunately won't be rushing back.

It’s such a lovely spot for lunch but to be honest when you are paying £11 for a GF sandwich and when it arrives it is warburtons gluten free very thin bread it is a little disappointing compared to the regular offering, tiny side salad alongside. Not worth it for the price. £9 for a meringue dessert seems very over the top for what is essentially a cafe, yes it’s a lovely setting but nothing amazing for what you pay.

We've been here lots of times and it is always very nice but this time I went with my brother for breakfast. My brother is vegan. Unfortunately there were no vegan options for breakfast apart from a fruit salad. No vegan sausage alternatives, nothing and so we had to leave. They did offer to do some form of breakfast basically mushrooms, beans and tomato but not what I would have expected from a high quality place like this in a day and age where the vegan lifestyle is more popular than ever. Such a shame, for non vegan people it's still lovely but such a shame.

Ridiculous way to run a hospitality venue.Rang to book a table to be told they were fully booked but outdoor seating could not be booked in advance so come along and chance your luck. Drive half an hour to get there and we were lucky enough to find a table outside ( indoors was virtually empty due to warm weather) and there were one or two other tables empty outside too. I was then told they were fully booked and the kitchen was closed it was 12.50 on a Friday lunchtime. I told the lady I spoke to who was the same person I spoke to earlier on the phone that she had encouraged me to come a sit outside at an unbookable table and she basically said touch were fully booked. Would never recommend it ever visit again no way to treat customers 😡

We arrived for lunch at 12.30 having booked, we were sat at the table and advised that someone would be along to take our order, at 1.15 we asked a waitress who was clearing a table next to us if we could order to be told that they were busy and someone would be along shortly, another wait for us again to request an order to be taken, then to be told by the gentleman who eventually arrived that we had been forgotten about, no apology, gave the order and food and drinks arrived, food very tasty, but occasion marred by lack of customer service, also noted that they refused to serve one lady who sat outside stating that they were fully booked despite there being at least ten table unoccupied outside and more unoccupied tables inside, on asking for the bill and asked if everything had been ok, we did state that the food was lovely but the delay had not been the best, the waitress then apologized. A little communication is required here I think, perhaps if the kitchen is unandated with orders maybe offering a drink service while people wait might make a bad situation less so.

After reading an article in the Look north magazine i came upon this small but perfectly formed garden centre, restaurant and specialist shop emporium. Located 9 miles outside Newcastle in the small town of Wylam, this very impressive venue had us hooked from the very moment we arrived. The only Critism is waze and google maps had a hard time finding the main entrance but apart from that we finally found our way in. There is plenty of parking with an additional overflow car park. This place gets very busy before during and after lunch from our experience and i would advise to book the restaurant if you want to guarantee a seat. The menu is traditional with limited seasonal produce but the quality and the cooking is sublime. I can see why this venue is very popular and hence why we returned again to enjoy this wonderful scenic location. Prices are reasonable and the staff are hospitable and accommodating. If your looking for a wonderful day out head over to this lovely scenic part of the north east.

Bradley Gardens itself is absolutely beautiful. We popped in on a Thursday afternoon hoping to grab a tea/coffee and a late, light lunch. Staff were welcoming and friendly and seated us outside. We were given menus and the waitress said she’d be back soon. The setting and the staff are what I’m giving the three stars for. However, although the food on the menu sounded amazing, the prices were extremely high. We honestly don’t mind paying for quality, locally sourced food, but we decided that £10.50 for a ham and pease pudding sandwich, or £17 for a Ploughman’s was pushing it a bit! Yes, we could’ve treated ourselves, but to me, these prices were extortionate. We are realistic people. We know that prices in restaurants have had to reflect rising produce prices and the need to pay staff a decent wage. However, having recently been on holiday to Devon and not experiencing prices like that even in the most beautiful places to eat, we feel that Bradley Gardens are asking too much. Maybe they’re just trying to keep away ‘riff raff’ like us!

Bradley Gardens’ website states that ‘we look forward to welcoming you’. Somebody should tell that to the dreadfully bumptious manager (Beryl Fawlty?) who wouldn’t accept ‘walk ins’ for a coffee even though there were lots of tables free outside (the lovely waitress was happy to accommodate but was rudely overruled). Suggest Bradley Gardens either change the wording on their website, or better still change their manager for one who understands basic customer service.

Staff were friendly and Accommodating as we hadn’t booked (it was 10.30am) and all tables had reserved signs on them. Ordered poached eggs on toast x2 with coffees. It was nice but nothing extraordinary other than the price (£21.70) and actually the food was just like warm which is my pet hate. Toilets…there appeared to be only two…one for men one for women which on a busy day must be horrendous . Also the toilet was dirty which isn’t great. I probably wouldn’t return again due to the prices. I’m far from tight and don’t mind spending money on good quality food but didn’t feel this was.

The food and drinks here are faultless. Plus a nice surrounding and some normality after covid. However, the service was so terrible it puts me off going back. We got told to take a seat anywhere we wanted, then got ignored for ages watching people come in after us getting order taken. We didn't even get given a menu so had to look online. When I finally managed to get someone's attention I got an attitude asking us if we waited in the queue to come in (yes we did). Apologies were given, but the general attentiveness was terrible. An elderly couple stormed off because they were ignored for so long. Then we witnessed a male member of staff (possibly manager) talking to someone else like a piece of dirt for a mistake he had made. No wonder the staff are super miserable here!! It's a good job the food and drinks were good but staff were really all over the place and didn't seem to know right from left.

That said although a wee bit disappointed the Staff were lovely and the place is really beautiful & totally covid secure. Had a little wander round the shops there, some really beautiful stuff..i picked a couple of pressys up along the way. The lady in the gift shop was really lovely and also told me to help myself to the windfall bramley apples which i took home and made a lovely pie with on the Monday! Would i visit again? My parents were bought vouchers for afternoon tea as part of their 90th birthdays and my sister, my husband and I went with them. It is a bit of a pull up from the car park to the gardens for the elderly but my father who at 91 walks with a stroller managed it and the way back down was easier. The afternoon tea was delicious, we had been asked prior to attending about any dietry requirements. Most of the party does not eat mustard and this was left off the ham sandwiches. My sister does not eat mayonaise and she was given an alternative sandwich to the egg mayo. The other two sandwiches served were a cucumber and a smoked salmon. There was a lovely light fresh plain scone with blackcurrent jam and cream. There were three gorgeous sweet treats, a meringue, a shoe pastry bun and a berry tart. We all commented how well proportioned the afternoon tea was with enough to eat. I was very good value for money at £15.00 per head and we all commented how we thought it was the nicest afternoon tea we had all had.

After our drink order we ordered 4 roast beef 1 roast pork and a vegetarian rissotto for my grandaughter. The lunch menu was limited but the food was superb. Two steak thick slices of tender roast beef ditto the pork, 5 roast potatoes each roasted carrot, yorkshire pudding, a bowl of cabbage broccolli and peas, plus a bowl of red cabbage. The plates were nice and hot and delicious home made? horseradish sauce, apple sauce for the pork. Dijon mustard and sachet condiments due to virus precautions. We have been regular visitors to this venue before covid-19 and love it! Today we called in for coffee and cake to support them after being closed for so long. It was very busy which we expected but what we didn't expect was being ignored. We had checked with a member of staff that it was still table service and sat down to wait our turn. After over 30 mins we left as no-one came to take our order. People at the table next to us were served and to add insult to injury, as we were leaving, we saw orders being taken for customers who had literally just arrived. As it is likely to remain busy, especially on sunny days we would request that those in charge design some kind of system so people can be served close to the order in which they arrive. I would normally rate this venue with 5 stars but today's experience can only warrant 1 star.

It was so good to be back visiting Bradley Gardens since lock down, food was amazing as ever we so have missed this place along with the friendly staff, its the old place we would visit as they also have excellent standards with hand sanitisers are every point all the café staff and shop staff have face masks and excellent social distancing being observed so we will be back next week for Sunday lunch !

Have eaten at Bradley Gardens a few times and delighted to see it open again. The whole venue lends itself to social distancing with well spaced tables and lots of outdoor seating as well. All in the most beautiful garden surroundings. The staff, as always are polite and helpful and it is clear that a lot of thought and care has gone into making a safe environment whilst making sure that the atmosphere and character of this unique restaurant is retained. The cheese soufflé never disappoints and the beef main course was beautifully cooked. Finished off lunch with the pink grapefruit posset which was a real treat.A walk round the beautifully manicured gardens and the well appointed shops made for a lovely afternoon - the new garden shop looks amazing with a great selection of plants and garden ware. An amazing place to visit - out of the city with on site parking and a real tranquil in these strange times

First time venturing out for lunch after lockdown, couldn't have picked anywhere better, hand sanitisers as you go into the garden and at entrance of cafe and each shop, food was excellent as usual, staff placed tray on table for you to remove items and place on the table yourself, which meant they were very good at keeping their distance, all wearing masks and very helpful, social distancing in cafe and shops very good, one way system in operation and people being advised by staff if going in wrong direction. Will not hesitate to come back for a meal in these trying times

Visited here for breakfast on a pleasant summer Sunday morning. I was pleasantly surprised by the gardens and areas surrounding the restaurant. We enjoyed a tasty and ample breakfast Whilst looking out onto the beautiful gardens. Not the cheapest place but you get what you pay for. The interior design shop is well worth a visit on the way out for a quirky ornament or two.

Have had Sunday lunch here many times before, and enjoyed it, but today it was poor. The food lacked seasoning, and although the plates were hot ( except the vegetable dish which was cold ! ) the food was only lukewarm, and by the time I had finished it was cold .The potatoes advertised as roast, were unpeeled new potatoes, probably cooked in fat in the oven, but not crisp, if fact quite soft.We decided to try a brown sugar meringue to share for desert . I was in fear for my fillings as it was so chewy the majority of it clung relentlessly to the plate and would not be dislodged.A mean amount of cream and a few berries atop of this , covered with an over sweet pink sauce, which took the sweetness factor up another few notches. Not good. We left most of the meringue, but no questions when it was removed.Sadly, I will now have to cross this pretty place off my list for Sunday lunch.

Visited many times and have never been disappointed with the food however the service is somewhat lacking. The staff while friendly appear to lack direction and never come and ask if everything is ok or if you need anything else (missing opportunities to up sell ie. more drinks). It’s a shame because the setting and food are great. Staff need proper training though. We will be back but please sort out your customer service!

We visited today for my gran's birthday. We pre booked and pre ordered the afternoon tea. 4 of us had the afternoon tea, my daughter ordered off the children's menu and my sister ordered a salad (this was not on the menu but the staff were very happy to accommodate) the afternoon tea was amazing and so fresh! The scones are to die for. The salad was also beautiful and fresh with a lovely dressing. The waiter (I think possibly the manager) was very helpful for a fussy gran, and couldn't do enough to help! This gentleman was especially helpful however all the other staff were also very polite, attentive and helpful. Would definitely return and highly recommend

Friendly staff, possibly the best fruit scone I’ve ever eaten and lovely coffee all around wrapped up in a lovely surrounding. The cafe and shops a small walk from the car park up an incline. I managed in my powered wheelchair to access all areas apart from the gift shop but the staff offered to bring me anything i wanted to look at.We felt very welcome here and we can’t wait to come back soon and especially on a warm day to enjoy the gardens with a drink.

My family and I had tea and coffee for four here today plus three pieces (would have just ordered two had we realised how big they were) of walnut cake and the bill came to £25. Although the surroundings are lovely and the staff very helpful, we felt this was overpriced.

My second visit to Bradley Gardens. The first was for a business lunch in the summer when we sat outside and enjoyed a lovely lunch. This time a birthday celebration for my Wife and it was an amazing experience - great menu, great service, great food and I’m looking forward to the next time! Oh, the Chocolate Pecan & Banana Sundae was amazing

My wife and I saw this place many years ago when it was just a walled garden and so we decided to see what it was like now. The garden is delightful and the "Glasshouse Cafe" is well positioned but that is where the positives end. As we entered there was an advert for an upcoming event with a 3 course meal costing £ 37:50 per person, now if it was in a restaurant I could understand but in a cafe is another matter.

I'd not heard about this place previously and don't know why! Lovely little garden with lots of plants, trees, water features and a duck/swan pond down from the car park. A couple of nice shops with homewear, jewellery, scarves etc. and a plant centre with pots and accessories also. Lovely big greenhouse cafe and outside seating. Previous posts said no shade but there are umbrellas outside now. Nice food and cakes too. Only encountered friendly staff, will definitely return.

The girls and I visited for lunch for the first time in a few months, after reading about a few trips about the new outside seating we all agreed we didn't understand what the problem was the owners have obviously decided to invest in beautiful outdoor seating across the front of the glasshouses and it was perfectly comfortable and no different to what most of us have a home. The service and food as our previous visits was five star and the gardens at this time of the year look beautiful and a credit to the gardeners

Was at Gateshead College for a meeting & popped into Greenhouse for lunch. Got a fabulous spiced lentil takeaway soup, complete with warm crusty roll, butter, knife and spoon all for £2.50. The soup portion size was excellent value. It was piping hot and super tasty & the warm roll was a fabulous touch, well done. More than I expected for a takeaway soup option. Highly recommend it. 🙂

A lovely evening with friends in the Bay Horse. Warm and cosy atmosphere, excellent service thanks to Traci who looked after us so well. We ordered a variety of small plates and flatbread. All was fresh, tasty and very reasonably priced given the large portions. Highlight was definitely the hot halloumi flatbread. Looking forward to our next visit.
