When I ask for my steak rare I don’t expect it turn up chewier than the belt I’m wearing, there is either a major supply chain issue or a drunken chef. Do not eat here and expect a good meal.

Good quality breakfast at a reasonable price for an airport. Service was on the slow side but that’s expected - just make sure you leave enough time to eat before your flight!

We went to the Chelmsford Bourgee and I would recommend it to anyone. The food was fantastic and arrived promptly without feeling rushed, the staff were lovely and very accommodating.

Decided to have a bite to eat before our flight to Faro. The Bourgee offered a more upmarket choice of food and drinks then the other restaurant/bars in the airport and the prices reflect this. Yes there is a good choice of drinks a cocktail list and fair amount of food choices but there was only one member of staff on hand at the time and being very busy it was slow service for us. The gin martini I had was good and the Eggs Benedict was fine. Personally if there was more staff and quicker service it would be worth choosing here over the other restaurant.

This review is for the Southend airport Bourgee, we were flying out fairly early yesterday and had travelled for about 5 hours, so went to order 3 "Bourgee breakfasts " No one serving behind the counter and looked like only 2 customers, the one who was sat at a table with a lap top turned out to be the waitress, who saw me standing at the counter and eventually left her laptop to serve me. I placed our order, and to say i was greeted with the most sullen expression and demeanour from this girl was an understatement. She processed our order and returned to her laptop. The food arrived and was as described, although it was crammed onto far too small a plate,so food constantly fell off onto the table. All the while our waitress, who had now put the lap top away( damn those customers !! ) was now on her mobile phone, constantly!! She and another chap put on hi viz jackets and left the area for about 15 minutes, on their return , both on phones still, she then went to the toilets, another 15 to 20 minutes, with her phone. No customer service at all, didn't ask if we were ok, if we needed anything , kept disappearing, on her phone almost all the time. For the time we were there our plates were left on the table, didn't clear them. By this time only us in the eating area. I don't blame her in a way, I blame the people who hired her. She clearly cannot be left seemingly unsupervised , and as I read some other reviews about the Bourgee chain, it's little wonder they have restaurants closing. We aren't likely to fly from Southend, it was a one off this time, but if we did, never , ever again would we eat here , in fact I would be surprised if the place is still open in 6 months time, so bad was the service. Shame as the food was nice, but everything else was awful.

Came here for some food before our flight. Fairly expensive but not too bad, there is a fee members of staff who were polite however not very attentive as we didn’t really know where to order or if we would be assigned a table etc. Food was ok nothing to special.

My son and myself had breakfast at Bourgee at Southend Airport prior to a morning flight. The Bourgee Breakfast breakfast was typical for a full english but at £12.50 each I would have expected at least a tea or coffee to be included in the price. We had planned to eat at The Navigator at the airport which is next to Bourgee in the Departure area, but they claimed they could not guarantee to serve us in time to board our flight. So we decided on Bourgee instead, which was probably a better choice. The strange thing was all the food seemed to come from the same kitchen area! Bourgee is slightly quieter and calmer that The Navigator which was much noisier. We would probably eat a breakfast here again, although in hindsight to save money we could had a McDonald’s breakfast as the McDonald’s is less than 10 minutes walk from the terminal and you pass it as you enter the airport.

We have visited here quite a few times, but recently the last two visits were in two weeks of each other and both were very very disappointing. There were 5 flights departing around the same time as ours and on both occasions there was just 1 member of staff serving. We were queuing to be served for 20 minutes and the lady serving could just not get the drinks and food out quick enough, and did not acknowledge you at all and was very miserable (I would be too if I was her with no-one to help at all). On our second visit we ordered two bottles of champagne as there was a big group of us and we were told a different price that what appeared on the menu! She then tried to make us pay the till price which was £5 more per bottle than advertised and was not happy at all that we refused. The service is absolutely terrible here. Some of our party ordered breakfast and it took so long they could not finish it before we had to board. We were pretty much first in departures as we had fast track security etc and only hand-luggage. The food is not great quality, items in the glass display look wan and unappealing and no-one clears any of the tables, it's a mess. Bourgee promotes a 'luxurious setting and a team of talented chefs' this couldn't be further from the truth! Better option is to queue for coffee and a bacon roll at Costa right opposite as they know how to manage a queue of hungry people.

We visited in December one lunchtime there was around 6 of us and we were the only people in here however not sure if lunchtime is a really busy time for them. Food was really nice and from what I can remember wasn't all that fast but not slow either, it was nice to have a cooked meal made for you as no doubt we all had something different from the menu - which wasn't set for Christmas which was nice for this time of year.

Me and my Friend got a takeaway as it was his birthday. We ordered the twin deal. When the food arrived we both noticed that the mozzarella dippers were cold and they were not cooked. The BBQ wings had no BBQ sauce on them and they were tiny and over cooked. The stuff crust hot dog was only half a hot dog and was disgusting, dry, burnt edges. I understand that pizza gogo is cheaper, but I will never use them again after such a disappointing take away. I would had complained and sent it back but I didn't want to moan and ruin my friends birthday any more than gogo had already ruined the evening.

This Papa Johns always gives me the wrong dip, they always give me the garlic and herb dip instead of the special garlic dip

I would just like to highlight the value of a member of your staff..’BARRY’. I attended the store today in Hockley on my way to work wearing my work uniform (paramedic) and a member of staff ‘BARRY’ insisted on paying for my pizzas, as a thank you for my service. This kind gesture touched me and really made my day…. and it will not be forgotten. What a wonder kind person you are THANK YOU BARRY… Rebecca
