The Bothy Tea Room were an unexpected but pleasant surprise. Situated at the Colby Woodland Gardens, what set the tearooms apart from typical cafés at National Trust grounds was the array of loose leaf teas on the menu. There were some delightful-sounding herbal brews, of which we only time to try one, in addition to their black tea house blend. All teas and cakes were served in bone china, which made the tea-drinking experience truly decadent. There was a good freshly-baked cake selection too, which perfectly complemented their teas. For a tea and cake-focussed room, they had some surprisingly inventive bread rolls and baguettes, too. Service was polite and helpful, and the staff managed well during the busy time we visited. Located at the Colby Woodland Gardens, the location was perfect for lunch during the middle or at the end of a walk. It does become very busy during the middle of the day, though. There is a little indoor seating, with many more benches outside. We were delighted to have lunch and tea here, and would fully recommend it!

A beautiful cafe with gorgeous gardens. The white chocolate and raspberrry Cake was delicious, and nothing like I have tried before. The only reason I cannot give 5 star is due to the expense. I paid £8 for a slice of cake and a very weak coffee.

The most amazing salad I've ever eaten!!! Local produce and just so tasty and good value for well made food. This place is a real hidden treasure. Cakes for days, a decent coffee and even dog ice cream. It's setting is beautiful and on a warm day just glorious to sit after your walk up through the leafy Glen. Great facilities and dog friendly. Don't forget to visit the amazing gallery upstairs too, so many amazing local artist and makers and the most beautifully made jewellery. Well worth the visit.

Absolutely first class generous crab sandwiches with a delicious lemony mayonnaise (homemade) and some superb salads, one of which was a small amount of a delightful green vegetable in a sesame dressing. I wish I'd asked what it was. Thank you, so lovely to find such inspired food and in a great setting. Cecilia

You may think it sounds mad to be absolutely blown away by a salad, but I have had so many lack-lustre salads presented to me over the years in other places!! The Bothy scores so highly on so many levels - smiley and very efficient staff, a varied menu and, as we were to find, truly delicious food. I had the Smoked Salmon and Pickled Courgette Salad Bowl (as mentioned above, but I say again IT BLEW ME AWAY! Delicious salmon, fresh and imaginative salad with edible flowers…) and my husband had a bacon and egg roll, generously filled. The attention to detail, quality of produce and presentation were all of such a high standard. Our thanks to the team, visiting Colby again for the first time in a few years was good but you made a good day memorable….

We loved this little cafe so much we visited 3 times during our weeks stay in Amroth. We were able to sit outside on each occasion and tried a variety of food. The couscous and salad sides that accompanied the well filled baguettes were so very tasty and the cakes were delicious. The food is quite pricy but the quality of the ingredients was excellent so we didn’t mind! The staff were incredibly polite, helpful and friendly and did a great job during very busy services. There is plenty of space to walk off your lunch in the large grounds afterwards! We are not dog lovers and it was disappointing that some owners didn’t get their animals to behave better around the cafe but certainly isn’t the cafe’s fault!

I visited this wonderful Tearoom today for the first time, under new Family management, after enjoying a trail run with my friends. We were greeted with a very warm welcome and served with a friendly smile. The array of Homemade, professional cakes were incredible and tasted divine. The service was impeccable with hot drinks served in quality cups and vintage small plates /cake forks were just my cup of tea. I chatted happily to the new owners about their new venture and will spread the word about this wonderful tearoom in picturesque surroundings. Thank You

Called in after a lovely walk through the woods at Colby Woodland. I chose the Gardeners Salad and it was lovely and different. The salads were gorgeous. Then had to decide on the cake. Everything looked lovely but settled on the date and apple crumble. I don't often review on TripAdvisor but thought this place was definitely worth a 5 star. Thanks for a lovely snack.

In early September 2023, we stumbled upon this fantastic tearoom. The lunch bread rolls stood out, easily being some of thebest we've tasted, with a delicious homemade apple pickle on one of them. The selection of cakes was awe-inspiring. Both the Oreo blondie and summer fruits lemon cake tasted heavenly. It's remarkable to learn that there's a repertoire of about 40 different cakes on rotation in this family-run café. Its location is an added bonus, nestled amidst beautiful woodlands and gardens, with the serene Amroth beach nearby. We also enjoyed browsing through the gallery and the second-hand bookshop adjacent to the café.

Fantastic tea room in a wonderful setting. The coffee is great, the lunches fantastic, and the homemade cakes superb. Staying in nearby Summerhill for a week, we visited Colby and the tearoom a number times, and it was excellent on every occasion. The rustic rolls were tasty and filling. The fruity flapjack is the best I’ve ever tasted (the Polish cake and apple cake were also delicious). The staff were very friendly and ran a slick operation (even the Saturday Parkrun crowd didn’t phase them).

After walking round the woodland garden for an hour, we opted for lunch at the Bothy Tea Room. My wife and I both chose the Chicken and Bacon Caesar Salad. We picked a table and our meal was brought to us within a few minutes. To say that it was superb is an understatement- all the varied salad ingredients were lovely and fresh and the chicken and bacon elements were plentiful. I have a good appetite but struggled to finish it, owing to the generous helping of food. (But I persevered!). I would have loved to try the cakes, of which there was a varied and mouth watering selection, but I had no room left. Must go back. Staff were lovely and friendly.

The tearooms are set in the midst of this lovely National Trust gardens, but no need to pay for parking if your car owner is a NT member. Food was absolutely fine, with a fairly wide choice including veggie and vegan options. We were a bit confused by the whole queueing/ordering/seating system, where one of you has to wait inside for any prepared food (including sandwiches), while the others occupy a table. I can see it gives better value than table service, but it is confusing, and a solo traveller might find themselves having to ask around for a spare chair. Food was a little pricey, though few places in this area are cheap

We visited while going around the Woodland Gardens and were hoping for some lunch. The boards outside suggested that lunch was served until 1430hrs and so we didn't expect any trouble ordering at 1410hrs. However, after asking for some lunch rolls we were informed that we couldn't order as the kitchen was too busy with some five orders in front of us. This meant we had to settle for cakes and coffee. That would be ridiculous in itself but as we sat outside we noted that customers that were behind us in the queue had been happily served with their lunch. Maybe it was our English accents or the fact that we were not wearing masks (although of course it is not the law) but it was obvious we were being discriminated against. To round this all off, the cakes were dry and tasteless. I would imagine they were not particularly fresh.

We had our first visit to Wales since September 2019 and one of our first trips was to Colby Woods and the Bothy Tea Room. We've visited many times and we were delighted that the tea room is as good as ever. Delicious rolls, salads, quiches and cakes. All wonderful. I'm not a fan of a lettuce / tomato salad - however I always order the salad bowls as they are amazing. So many wonderful flavours and items in the salad, you feel you've eaten a bowl of goodness. A lovely choice of food for vegetarians and vegans, plus ice cream for my dog! The tables are mainly outside in normal circumstances, however more umbrellas have been added over the tables, there is a clearly marked area to queue, one person in the cafe at a time with a 1 way system, and the tables are disinfected after each use. Very clean and safe. My favourite tea room in a Nat Trust property.

I had just completed the three lap course that I can best describe as a hilly trail route in a tad under 37 minutes, so being completely worn out, it was lovely to take only five more steps after the finishing line to land in the Colby Woodland Gardens Tea Room. Well on such a stunning morning, it was more like landing outside than 'landing in'. Spacious and well presented tables and chairs, each and everyone with their own sun shade and lovely views of the flowers, the wall of the 'walled garden' and the nicely presented tea rooms itself. Wifey treated me to a cappuccino and a cake while she went for a latte. It was a tad pricey, but hey ho, you are out in the wilds, in a beautiful surroundings, and the owners have to survive don't they? I mean, eight pound something is a lot, but pails to insignificance compared to the £30 that I spent in a cafe last year for three of us somewhere in the Balkans. My homemade on the premises cake was stunning. TIPS: (1) don't visit Saundersfoot and/or Tenby without visiting Colby Woodland Gardens near Amroth, (2) don't visit Colby Woodland Gardens without visiting the tea rooms, (3) if you want it, ask for a glass of water and you will get it, and (4) the insides (yes there are two sections) are very well presented and laid out
