Botafogo Brazilian Grill in Kirklees

Went for my birthday, been to this kind of place a couple of times in Leeds, thought we’d try somewhere more local. And it didn’t disappoint. Walked in just after opening to not find anyone there. However meant we got pick of tables and attentive staff. The salad bar had everything you’d want to accompany the meat, including a few things I wasn’t expecting. Despite being first in, meat was already prepared and brought out once we’d returned to our seats. Was well paced, a good selection and as you’d expect, incredibly tasty. Managed to make it round the selection nearly twice, the house rump and the lamb being particularly tasty. If I had a slight criticism is that I didn’t want chips. I understand why they have it as part of the meal, but if the customer is clear they don’t want, it seems uncomfortable to force it. However that’s a small criticism, and will definitely be back once I’ve made some extra holes on my belt!!

So expensive! £80 for 2 people! Yes lovely food but wow so expensive! Don’t think I’ll go back. Food was very tasty so i suppose makes up something? Don’t go unless your loaded

Great, ate so much i was stuffed, the only downside is the bill but considering the quality i didnt mind. the honey glazed ham is to die for and my card remained at green must of the night and a couple of trips to the salad bar too. excellente.

Celino was a master carver. Never been before and wondered if it was all you can eat. It was unbelievable I had to say no loads as I simply could not keep up with the amazing food. The finest meat well cooked superbly delivered and lush salads it really is worth every penny. All staff including barmaid were intensive and could not do enough. I'm going to be back everytime. Seriously try it. I have to go I have a cow to eat. Five stars. Finally serious shout to Celino who treats you as a five star diner. He is a professional.

We went at a really quiet time (midweek) just as it opened so we were the only ones in the restaurant. Staff were really attentive and the meat was cooked well, came out sizzling and nicely seasoned. The salad bar was a bit small so can imagine it being packed on a busy evening, but the selection was good. The price was fair considering it's more of a buffet experience so you can fill up on meat with salad in between.

This place was a fantastic dining experience multiple meats brought and carved at the table all tasting absolutely beautiful. The salad bar had a great selection of sides and fries brought to the table which were also fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed the restaurant from the minute of entering to the minute I left would 100% recommend to anyone.

As a long-time customer of Botafogo, I have had the pleasure of visiting this establishment numerous times over the last few years. In the past, it was my go-to place for an authentic Brazilian churrascaria experience, and I had many memorable dining moments. However, my recent visits, spanning the last three to four times, have left me thoroughly disappointed. It pains me to admit that Botafogo has experienced a regrettable decline in quality. What was once a reliable and outstanding dining destination has become frustrating. On my most recent visits, the service could have been much faster, detracting from the overall enjoyment of the meal. This starkly contrasted to the efficient and attentive service I had grown accustomed to. Additionally, on my latest visits, I encountered difficulties with communication, particularly when ordering drinks. The language barrier made it challenging to convey my preferences accurately, leading to mistakes in my order and further adding to my dissatisfaction. Moreover, the hallmark of any great churrascaria lies in the quality of its meats. While I fondly remember the delectable cuts I indulged in, the recent meats have all been rushed and overcooked. As someone who prefers their meat medium-rare, it was disheartening to find that every piece I tried was overdone, robbing it of its natural flavours and tenderness. The declining trend in my experiences at Botafogo is profoundly disheartening. Based on my previous positive encounters, I had always spoken highly of this restaurant, recommending it to friends and family. However, the recent letdowns have made it increasingly difficult to uphold that praise. Despite my history with Botafogo, I must recognise the consistent disappointments I have faced during my last few visits. I sincerely hope that the management takes notice of these shortcomings and works towards restoring the former glory of this once beloved churrascaria. In conclusion, while I have been a loyal patron of Botafogo for years, my most recent experiences have been dishearteningly disappointing. The decline in service efficiency, communication barriers, and subpar meat preparation have tarnished what was once a standout dining destination. Until significant improvements are made, I find it hard to recommend Botafogo to others.

I have always been a fan of grilled meat and when I figured out this restaurant, it is one of my favourite places in Huddersfield. The menu includes a variety of meat to choose from such as Picanha, Beef Shoulder, Sirloin, Garlic Beef, Chili Beef, Chicken Thighs, Honey Glazed Pork, Gammon, Grilled, Grilled Pineapple, Pork Sausages and Lamb. I love all the dishes here, but Chilli & Garlic Beef, Chicken Thighs, Honey Glazed Pork, and Grilled Pineapple are in my Top 5. These meats are amazing as they are marinated with spices, grilled in standardised heat, and served professionally at the table. Besides the meat, they also offer Non-Meat Options that will be cooked specially within requests. Not only delicious main course, but there are also varied drinks and yummy desserts to choose from. One thing I love about this restaurant is that the chef and the staff are super friendly, professional, and warm-welcome to all customers! Just love it!

Had high expectations from our visit today. I had been to a similar elsewhere and enjoyed immensely, but was sadly let down. Service of meats extremely slow, often 10 -15 minutes wait between meagre meat portions being carved to plate,sliver of beef or a peice of chicken. Bill with one round of drinks, including wine and a portion of chips just short of £155 for 4. Service charge charged to bill, which I find wrong, no way where we serviced to £15 as per bill. It's just not worth the cost. Will not return.

Best steak and pork I've ever eaten. Cocktails are also a highlight. Food was brought out very quickly with friendly staff. Will definitely come back again!

Visited with my other half today. Hadn’t visited for a couple of years and hoped it would be as amazing as I remembered… everything was perfect! Delicious food, friendly and welcoming staff and a chilled out atmosphere. Thank you so much to each and every member of staff! We will certainly be back!

In the past I had really liked coming here for Brazilian food, especially meat lets be honest. Now everything is worse, can't really endorse it now.

IMO worst Brazilian bbq I have been to. Some of the meats were RAW and I mean RAW koz I’m a rare meat kind of gal but the middle was cold. It was bland, lacked seasoning and even the selection of sides was a bit saddening. It was a big disappointment from what we were expecting. The only upside was the service. Personally I wouldn’t return unless there was a significant improvement.

Booked last minute for a date night with my partner and this place certainly didn’t disappointment. Authentic Brazilian feel and friendly faced and attentive staff. Cocktail menu was simply awesome and the food I couldn’t get enough of. Great cuts of meat with a great variety - tasting delicious and cooked to perfection. We’re not long waits / intervals to be served and I thoroughly enjoyed the grilled pineapple I have never tried before - one of the chefs so kindly bought more out upon my request. Total value for money and will be making sure I visit again. If your a meat lover you will love this place, great service great food and not one bit did we feel rushed to get out. Will definitely be here again and recommending to all family and friends

What a really great meal. We arrived at 16.10 and food was already on the go to be served. After about 10 mins the meat started to come out. It was amazing, so delicious and worth every penny. Definitely come back again when in area.

Very disappointed. We were served raw gammon. The staff did not have a clue what they were doing . The service was very slow.we had been there 30 minutes and one of our party who did not want thier meat served medium rare had had no meat. The managers excuse was that the server was training. We paid for our drinks and left. They didn't even give us our drinks as a sorry. We won't be rushing back. We font fancy getting food poisoning.

Came here on Sunday night. The service was impeccable. Although it was quite late we were made to feel entirely welcome. On top of that the food was sensational. We all left in a food coma. And don’t even start me on the cocktails. A fantastic evening.

Visited here last week as a part of the EOTHO Scheme.Food as usual was lovely. Salad bar has now gone and replaced with a side order menu which you order from and it is brought to your table.Staff were all very friendly and the meats were excellent. Went for the first time today and wish I would of known about this place before. Huddersfield centre lacks great food restaurants but it needs more places like Botafogo, the meats have excellent flavours and great service, we will be back soon thank you.

Locale carino, formula tipica da churrascheria (il cameriere si avvicina al tavolo con la carne cotta allo spiedo e te la taglia con il coltello direttamente nel piatto, puoi mangiarne a ripetizione quanta ne vuoi). Qualità della carne buona e cottura ottimale. Un po' misero il buffet dei contorni e non di eccezionale qualità. Tavoli un po' piccoli e non molto comodi. Tutto sommato una buona cena.

Where do I start .there was 16 of us so we had an extended table with another one along side in a long narrow room. No room to swing a cat.the salad bar was at the top of the room so we had to struggle passed people to get there.it was like scene from Olive TWIST.we had long waits between the servings nd the waiters seemed to be there just to serve no interaction and very little conversation ...the salad was basic to say the leave and the chips were not much bigger then shoe laces .must admit the meat was beautiful.would I go again ,,NO

Went for a Birthday meal on Saturday night. Extremely busy but been before so knew it would be, and seated pretty quickly. However once seated we waited 20mins before a waitress even came near our table. After eventually getting drinks we waited another 10mins for the meats to be brought to our table. Waiters were going round the restaurant but mostly not even looking our table in the corner. It wasn’t until the man who we presumed was the Manager came over and we explained the problem that we started to be brought more meats and could start enjoying our meal. The food is great, hence this was our fourth visit over the last couple of years, but the service on this occasion really put us off.

2 stars because three is average and McDonald’s is average. This was one of the food experiences I would rather to forget. Food was mediocre. Actually in Brazilian grill restaurant the pineapple was a highlight of the evening. Poor salad bar -tbh just ridiculous. Not even comparable to one from Pizza Hut, and it’s not chain. Well I did not expected much for twenty-something quid but it’s been a while since I’ve eaten in such a chaotic place like this one. Thank good they make up with the quantity, forget the quality.

Excellent evening. Meat was incredible service was quick and very friendly. Often at these types of restaurants there can be big gaps between cuts of meat however this was not the case!!! Highly recommend.

Our first time at Botafogo, and our first experience of Brazilian food. My wife booked the table as a treat for my birthday and what a treat it was. I won't ruin the surprise for others but the unusual way of serving and the quality of the food was top of the pops and we will certainly be back.

Can’t wait to return. My husband is a pain and eats well done steak after 10 years he finally tried medium thanks to the chef. Amazing food and great prices

After loving a trip to Fazenda in Manchester with my boyfriend, one of our mates recommended here as being the same thing but loads cheaper plus more local! What can I say, it was really good! Meat is well cooked as much as you want, staff are friendly and will just ask which meats are your favourite too! It's much more of a personal experience than Fazenda and I would recommend it! We'll go back!

I’m undecided about this place, you get a drink then a plate to fill with salads and similar, plus a serving of fries then they being the meats round.They have two dining areas, the front where they put couples and mixed groups, so they can be seen through the windows, then the groups (predominantly male) in the back, where we were. I’m not a big fan of outside pieces of meat on joints but constantly got them, might just have been unlucky. They serve until you can’t eat any more, not sure about that as a conceptVegetarians and vegans are well advised to avoid as it’s meat and more meatCouldn’t manage a pudding....

Unreal food. Lots of different meats, cosy intimate vibe, friendly staff. One of my favourite restaurants. Highly recommend.

Had a great birthday gathering of 16 people for my husbands 40th last weekend. The food was delicious and plentiful, catered to everyone’s preferences and nothin was too much trouble. The caipirinhas were delicious (and strong!!!) highly recommend this restaurant

We visited here last night just before closing time as a table of 8. We called ahead before we arrived to check they would still serve us and they said it was no problem. When we arrived we were seated quickly and soon after the food came out and just kept coming and coming. The food was lovely and the service was amazing.They stayed past closing time to accommodate us, and nothing was too much trouble. We really appreciate everything they did for us.

Omg the food in this place is out of the world and very reasonably priced. Definitely worth a visit. Staff is friendly as well. Loved it and would come again.

Four of us visited on the 13th July 2019, we were seated straight away and drinks etc came really fast. We have had multiple visits here in the past and its always been pretty amazing, the only reason for not full stars are they seemed to circulate the sausages and chicken about 4/5 times (and a little less of the cooked meats) and there was no belly pork circulating, so i really hope the restaurant isn't going down-hill as we love eating at Botafogo.

Brilliant ending to a fabulous Graduation Day at Hudds Uni for our son. Close family meal for 7. The whole experience was great. Endless supply of meat and extra effort made to please the ones that wanted it more cooked. Super efficient waitressing, already planning to return in September for a friends birthday and already spreading the word for a ‘Must Try’ to many friends. Well deserved 5 Star Review.

We had a last minute meal here and it was delicious. Plenty of meat and sides for £20 which is a great deal as a lot of the meat is the different cuts of Steak! We also had Minted Lamb, Gammon and Pineapple, Honey Belly Pork and Chicken Wings

This was well worth the money,absolutely great staff and food, my wife loved it! Botafogo felt very homely and everyone was so attentive to your wants, even when you just wanted a chat, the cheapest wine was 2017 finca Valero and was absolutely delicious! Definitely going back!

Took my boyfriend here for a surprise birthday meal having come here myself several years ago whilst a student at uni. We have something similar in Manchester called Bem Brazil but nothing to the standard of this little place, so it was worth the hour drive. Staff were super friendly, waitress explained the way the place works and all the options and the tables were very big! The food is beautiful (try the cheeses bread balls), and the meats cooked perfectly! They even brought out a little cake for my boyfriends birthday without even asking! Thank you for making the day special! Defiantly worth a try!

Really nice restaurant situated in Huddersfield town centre, very friendly and helpful staff and the food is delicious. The waiter Gill was really nice and although some of our table like medium steak and other well done he made sure the food was to all our liking. He was really friendly and we was really impressed with the service he provided. The chips have improved amazingly since we last visited and are now French fries. The value for money is fantastic as you really do get what you pay for, offering a selection of meats from chicken thighs, pork (honey glazed belly pork and gammon), beef (Sirlion & rump steaks) sausages etc and it just keeps coming until you’ve had enough. It works on a traffic light system so when you have had enough you turn your place card to red but when you want meat you turn it to green. The French fries, rice and beans are also unlimited and there is a salad bar which is also unlimited therefore you can just help yourself. They also offer a good selection of wine. It does get busy so it’s always recommended to book a table to prevent being disappointed. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be visiting again when I am next in Huddersfield.

I've been here many times before and I always have a good experience, a large choice of meats, the chicken thighs are very nice, flavoursome sausages, lamb, beef, pork. I like my beef rare which is how it comes, if you dont like it rare, you will have a limited choice as the joints are quite thick so it's only the . A couple of things I noticed this time was the beef and lamb was salty, I like salt on my meat but this was a little too salty. The slices of meat were also very thin, thinner than previous visits, maybe they are tryng to make it last longer.

I’ve visited Brazilian BBQ restaurants in Brazil and Brum, and whilst Botafogo isn’t as good, it isn’t that bad either. The salad bar is quite small, but okay. There weren’t as many meats on offer, but they happily produced a more well-done skewer for my son when asked, and the hot side dishes were excellent. There was plenty to eat for all, and I’d happily visit again.

Visiting a friend in Huddersfield he took me to this restaurant and it was our best nigth out... I think I gain 5 kilos delicious.

I continue to have the same opinion this is the best steak restaurant I have ever been to. I have been following the evolutions and it is getting better and better. this time I decided to take my family to try it and it was fantastic. we were surprised by something new, Sangria! I can tell you that it was the best sangria I tasted until today, I was afraid to try something different but thanks to the sympathy of the lord who served us and his suggestion we tried the Sangria of white wine and it was a spectacle. Obviously we did not drinking just one jar, it was too good that we could not stop and it blends very well with the meat. I recommend. excellent service, friendliness and very professionalism above all. definitely will be back

After a family visit to Botafogo I must say this was the worst experience of dining I have ever experienced and we have attended many places like this establishment. Firstly all the meat was rare and I prefer mine well done. This was stated at the outset. The server always seemed to come to our table last when bringing out the meats, so if you like it well done you had to wait ages. Not only that but as our table was served last there was very little left on the skewer. Secondly the quality of the meat produce was shocking, mine must have been put back in the oven/grill and was ropey. Salad choice was small and limited and side dishes were luke warm. After we had complained to the waitress they offered a lousy 20% discount which is shocking as the meal was very disappointing. If they want to keep customers they really need to up their game as Estabulo Wakefield and Barnsley really know do know how to run a business and keep customers happy. Your response to to my wife on trip advisor was sarcastic and inaccurate! Clearly criticism is not well received!

Went there last Saturday for the first time and we all enjoyed very much. Excellent meat selection and a small salad bar but enough, we was more into the meat anyway. Excellent and fast service from a very friendly staff.

Having visited many times before unfortunately we won't be returning. The quality of the meats served were lovely, however the waiting time between receiving each different meat were, quite honestly, atrocious. The choice of meats were limited at best. Restaurants of this type advertise their 'meats', however all Botofogo seem to want you to do is fill up on the 'included' fries and quite limited salad that is available.

It did not get off to a good start as the salad cart was mostly empty. So we sat down and awaited the first meat to be served . The rump steak was absolutely great and the sausage was tasty, but the sirloin was tough and the lamb tasteless.

The restaurant was very crowded on a Saturday evening, but we only waited a few minutes for our pre-booked table. The waiting area was comfortable, with cinema style seats, and we ordered drinks whilst waiting.

Loved this restaurant - husbands likes meat well done, I like my beef rare - no problem - all meat was cooked to perfection. Loved the beef, pork, chicken, lamb and those sausages were rather spicy and interesting to say the least! Didn't try the grilled pineapple - just concentrated on the meat and the sides, which were delicious. Wish there was a restaurant in the town in which we live - we'd be there all the time!

We recently visited Botofogo and really enjoyed our meal, the food was great value for money, the rump steak was a particular favourite. The only reason I gave marked it down to 4/5 is because when we arrived the restaurant was full (we had booked online - easily done through their website) but we were seated so close to another couple it was as if we were sitting on the same table! Maybe a couple too many tables crammed in to the space but food wise we really enjoyed what we ate. Would visit again.

We absolutely love it here! Cheaper than Fazenda and Bembrazil, just as good quality meat selection! Much less to choose from on the salad bar front, but that's unimportant to me. I'd like there to be some different steak sauce options though; blue cheese, peppercorn etc. but that's just something which would further improve the already good offering.

Fantastic food and great service

My fiance and I had dinner there a couple of days ago and it was amazing. Such friendly and helpful members of staff, love the fact there is a buffet salad bar too. All the meat was so tender and flavorsome, and there was no waiting for the food either, it was coming very steadily at us. I knew i was full, but i just couldn't stop! We particularly enjoyed the minted lamb which is a new-ish addition. Already planned another trip at the end of the month! Thank you for a wonderful dining experience.

We tried this place as a walk in on a Saturday night after trying elsewhere and being told there was a 2 hour wait.

Warm friendly welcome, was packed for mid January, good value, all meat replenished when eaten, and staff regularly on the rounds of tables ensuring everyone had food to eat, and filling your plate up

love this place, be warned, although its all you can eat you only have the table for a set amount of time. id recommend not filling up on the free sides or cheap meat options, the good stuff is sooo good. its comes on the rare side but that the way we like it. if you like it more well done just let them know and they will vook some more just for you. friendly helpful staff and a good meal out. especially good if you are doing dukan, keto or atkins type diets!

Went here with my partner. We both like our meat. Had good reviews and for a decent price.- good- sides such as rice and fries came to you table. Cheap drinks. Bad- service wasn’t good. Once you’ve been there 20 mins, your no longer served meat. Only gammon or pineapple. The meat never actually came around. We was actually there 2 hours, and only had 3 pieces of red meat. Really wouldn’t recommend. We was very disappointed with the service, quantity of food and also when paying bill they add on £5 tip without telling you. Not impressed. Would actually like my money back.

Visited New Years Eve as we were looking for somewhere we could just eat and not have to pay for a 3 course party meal thing!

Me and my wife came here years ago when it first opened food was brilliant as was the service. We decided to go back for my birthday and sadly the quality of the food has gone downhill massively!!! I generally leave a small tip when paying if I felt it was worth it. But when u go to pay prepare urself for a 10% service charge on ur bill. I feel as a customer u should have the right to choose if u want to give a tip if the service and food wasn't to standard then in my opinion no tip if it is then no problem

Visiting Huddersfield on business, I discovered this place through TripAdvisor and it was just around the corner from my hotel.

Table was all ready booked for 7 5 of us not our normal place to eat but our friends said we’ll go there really didn’t no what to expect lovely relaxed feel to the place nice big table bye the windows food was really nice not rushed the place gets busy we also had a couple of deserts 3 coffees well worth the money we also did the service charge as the staff are really lovely will definitely be going again see you soon

I've been to Botafogo a couple of times recently and I really enjoyed it. It's a great format whereby you're presented with a different cut/type of meat and if you like the look of it, the waiter keeps cutting slices/pieces for you until you're happy. If you miss that round, don't worry, they'll be back again with something else! All the meats were delicious, particularly the honey-pork. If you like meat, it's impossible to leave here hungry. The salad bar is a nice touch and although fairly small, has a nice selection with a few more unusual things (pork scratchings!). This might be stating the bleeding obvious, but vegetarians are extremely limited to the salad bar and the sides of chips, rice and tiny pastries, but could probably still leave feeling fairly satisfied. It's a good place to have an informal meal and chat with friends, and it never feels like it has degenerated to a typical buffet-type restaurant - it's definitely a cut above that kind of place.

Had a lovely meal with my best mate here. The service was spot on and the quality of the meat was impressive. The beef was served rare and was extremely tender. The sides were also delicious. Not the cheapest place to eat but you get what you pay for and this place is top notch!

It’s very difficult to review a Brazillian restaurant and not compare it to Fazendas in Leeds, Machester and Liverpool

Wow. Mid week date night and what an evening. Pleasant surroundings with the nicest service from all. The food is to die for, meat so succulent it melts in your mouth, so flavoursome as it should be. Nothing fancy needed here, the food speaks for itself.

Was slightly taken aback when I saw the £10/10% service charge, albeit optional. Then I remembered the friendly smiling hard working servers and thought they well deserved their tenner. In terms of the food thought the salad and chips were very average. However their main attraction the meat was very good and plentiful . Really enjoyed the beef and gammon meats. Lean and nicely cooked. Never been before to this type of food concept but would defo consider coming here again

An excellent experience. A variety of meat cooked to perfection, excellent service and great atmosphere in the restaurant.

First visit here last night and definitely won’t be our last, salad bar fresh and varied, fries lovely and, oh my gosh.. the meat! Asked how we liked it ( rare ) and it was cooked to perfection, service great, didn’t catch the name of our waitress but very attentive without being too much, can’t believe this place has been going so long and I’ve never bothered to go before now. The food here is excellent. The meats that are brought to your table are cooked perfectly.. and the side dishes are good. I liked the bean casserole which is tasty. The salad bar was good. We will be back again.

I have been twice so far and am planning my third trip, cannot fault it good service , good food, good price

I went to Botafogo an Thursday with my 14 year old son. We got there around 6.45 and it was very quite, 30 minutes later it soon got busy. A nice salad bar (with pork scratchings), meat on offer, Rump/sirloin steak, chicken, gammon, sausage, belly pork and lamb. It was all very nicely cooked and it just keeps coming. Great service and food as always. One thing I don't like is the 10% suggested service charge. 10% is suggested and you then feel uncomfortable if you want to give less.

Great place to eat. Meat is so tasty. Rice and chips and a salad bar. I was so full at the end. Everyone in the group really enjoyed it. We will definitely return to this gem. Staff also lovely and very quick service
