Held my 50th birthday party in the function room there (May 2019). Was well looked after in the planning and organising. Dietary requirements of guests were very well dealt with, dedicated bar staff - nothing was too much hassle. The food was well liked by all who attended and was good value for money.

My baby shower was held here on Sunday 1st March, we had the entire upstairs to ourselves along with a bar. My friends were able to go in early to set up and prep everything before the event started, they didn't charge to hire the room which was ideal and we paid for food for both adults and kids. They gave us access to a bar and had a waitress bring the food up, we opted for a 10 item buffet at £12 per head. The food was nice, although we had to pay £6 each extra for the kids although we were quoted kids can eat free, considering they don't eat a lot anyway, £6 per head is pricy as they just had a small piece of sandwich and there wasn't any difference between the food they were served juice as an extra, we were all served the same food which if they are paying extra I might have expected a separate menu to theirs. If we were being picky, they brought up a slow cooker which had the ingredients baked to the side of the pan and was super greasy/oily, there was plenty to go around but it was dripping onto the floor, we cleaned this up, the tuna sandwiches didn't have a lot of filling. For the price especially, as we picked the most expensive option I thought there might have been a little more, but never the less the food was good and we were able to take the leftovers home. The bar seemed to close quickly which left guests having to go downstairs for drinks, again not an issue but might be worth mentioning so we are aware. I did enjoy it and my guests enjoyed it too! The only reason I didn't give 5 * was based on the reasons above, would I visit again, yes 100% would I host another event, yes 100% I just think a couple of things can be improved Thank you!

First time visiting and probably be last. Place was clean but apart from that nothing special. There was 5 of us and we asked for food to be told only sandwich’s were available which was a disappointment then we decided to stay for just a drink and get food elsewhere and may as well just left as the drinks took ages to turn up and didn’t think it was good that the girl behind the bar was on her phone

On any visit to Huddersfield this is a must visit pub where you can enjoy superbly well-kept real ales and ciders but also a good selection of craft ales. This bar is not just about beers as there is a great selection of other spirits and wines with some very good gins. The bar has gained an excellent reputation for its excellent selection of fresh food cooked daily with a wide range which also caters for vegetarians and vegans. Some of the stews and casseroles created are a blend of the homely and exotic and I would recommend signing up to their facebook page to be kept up to date with the menu changes. There is also a good selection of sandwiches and a fresh soup every day and they have just started a Sunday carvery which is exceptional value. The bar acts as a brewery tap for Mallinsons to showcase their excellent beers but there are always good and unusual guest beers and a good bottle selection. The best part is the welcome you recieve at this pub as it is always warm and friendly and this comes from the Manager/Landlady Sam, who is renowned for the quality of the pubs and bars she has run. Don't miss this hidden away treat on a trip to Huddersfield , however it can be a bit busy on a Saturday if Huddersfield Town are at home !

An excellent place to dine out, or just simply have a nice pint of beer, or a glass of wine. The staff and management team are always so welcoming, and can't do enough for you. If you were to ask anything bad about the place, I couldn't think of anything. The food that Sam put's on is always delicious and full of flavour. The special food nights are also a treat, and the quality of the food is fantastic, and very reasonably priced. In addition in the bar area, you can enjoy food, and take your 4 legged friend along with you, where they too will make friends with other 4 legged friends!

A word of warning, don’t even think about complaining about the food here unless you want a torrent of abuse from the landlady and bar man, to be repeatedly shouted at, when we’d simply asked for a refund as the food was inedible. We ordered two sandwiches and a portion of curly fries which appeared nearly an hour after ordering them (the bar wasn’t busy and very few people were eating). To say the fries and one of the sandwiches were inedible is an understatement but apparently curly fries are meant to be the soggy mess that we were presented with, as, in the land lady’s own words, “they’re curly fries, they haven’t been fried” which was her explanation for the bowl of soggy, mushy mess we were given. The cheese sandwich was also incredibly soggy but apparently all cheese melts are a pile of soggy, indigestible gloop. When we asked for our money back as the food was inedible, we were repeatedly shouted at by both the landlady and the bar man, told that there was no way they would return our money and that other people ate the food without complaining. They were so incredibly rude and unprofessional and I’m still in shock at the way we were spoken to and treated by these people, but this is nothing compared to the vitriolic outpouring and blatant lies the landlady has posted on Facebook, and the aggressive and incredibly demeaning comments her friends have posted about a situation they know nothing about - a very concerned mutual friend notified me of this. My husband and I have been called every name imaginable, told we need kicking down the stairs, threatened to send people round to sort us out and ‘terror’ us. Apparently we do this for a living and they should have taken our photos to shame us...all because we asked for a refund for food that was inedible. I can’t begin to explain how shaken and upset this has left my husband and I.

So many options here at the corner. Staff walked me through my vegan options with knowledge and were happy to add and remove stuff to certain dishes so you know it’s all home cooked goodness. Beer is spot on, as is their spirit collection. You can tell that the owners care about serving quality drinks. Music set the atmosphere and the plants everywhere are lovely. So much care has gone into this little gem and you can tell. Thanks so much to all the friendly staff that made my time here enjoyable!

I've dropped into this bar on two visits to Huddersfield, as I'm a sucker for a craft ale bar, and this one is set up with some great beers. Both times--late afternoon and fairly empty--I found it a soulless, uncomfortable place to drink in on your own. This is all very subjective, I know, and I'm still going to rate the bar well--all credit to the owners for running this type of place in Huddersfield. But the large, high-ceilinged, brightly lit, pale-painted, square, near-windowless bar room, with its tables set out as in a works canteen or hospital dining room feels to me the opposite of cosy. I'm sure it would be different with more people in, or if I was drinking alongside people less locked into their own thoughts. I suppose you could say the vibe is intentionally cool and modern, but then they were playing George Formby on the sound system, which ground on my nerves--if that's an ironic touch, it didn't work for me. But I'll try again next time I'm in town.

We had problems finding this as the passageway is not visible from the Market Cross. Once in it is buzzing and with a nice crpss-section of drinkers of all ages. Visited on Saturday night and sat in the first floor bar where the music was loudish but tolerable. Top floor had live music. Great range of local beers and prices fair for a town centre site. Food not on so only drinks reviewable. Beer is well kept (high turnover) and bar staff were efficient and alert to customers. Lively place to drink good beer.

You have to know where this is - but it's well worth finding, tucked away literally in a corner of a small but centrally located arcade. It is upstairs and loos are also upstairs again but I have to say, unlike other places, the staircases are securely hand railed, well lit and clearly yellow edge marked (a consideration as you get older). The main area is not large, but it is airy and very pleasantly furnished and presented in a contemporary style, you get the distinct feeling that quality thought has gone into everything. There are carefully crafted menus but very reasonably priced, together with a selection of daily changing specials which are oh so tempting. There's hot sandwiches and tapas, we once had a cheeseboard here and it was superb quality - excellent when supping the great range of real ales they have, clearly marked up on the blackboard. There is a lovely looking upstairs function room also. I'm glad personally that this doesn't have a high street frontage as it doesn't attract any riff-raff, noisy, bad language etc - I'm really happy I found it - but I wouldn't have unless it had been introduced to me! This is really a very good place.

We have meant to give The Corner a go for some time and finally did on Sunday Afternoon. I like that its tucked away, down a side street. On first impressions it was light and airy with a friendly atmosphere. There are a good range of Ales and other drinks. We weren't going to eat but the Yorkshire Roll filled with Beef Brisket sounded tasty so we gave it a go. It did not disappoint! I was served a huge Wrap-like flat Yorkshire pudding filled with loads of tasty beef, roast potatoes, a big pot of fab gravy and a pot of Caramelised red onions. All the best bits of a Sunday Roast and for £7, I didn't think it was bad value. The Tapas menu, not served at the weekend, sounds really good so we will definitely come back and give it a go. One slight comment is that the decor/layout does make The Corner feel a little sterile, not somewhere you would probably come for a romantic meal, but that probably wasn't the intention. All-in-all a great addition to the growing, Huddersfield craft Ale/independent pub scene. We will definitely be back soon.
