Very disappointing for a booths cafe, tables were not adequately cleaned, had to ask for cutlery to be changed as there was dried food on the first lot. Steak pie was over cooked and dry. Chips were ok and plentiful. The tea and coffee were very nice, and although the cakes looked nice we were put off by the serving staff standing next to them with a cough, he did cover his mouth most but not every time. Had I used the toilets before eating we would not have stayed. The floor was strewn with dirty tissue and other items. Not your usual standards Booths - we’ve previously been to Kirby Lonsdale, Windermere and Kendal and regularly go to the cafe at Booths Garstang and have always been delighted with the hygiene and food, we won’t be returning to Clitheroe Booths.

Cafe - 65 minute wait for food is pretty ridiculous. Ordered food at 14:20, I had to approach staff for an update 40mins later. Promised our food was next. Another 15 mins go by to be told they no longer had what we ordered. Food then brought out at different times. But it was delicious. Although the food was lovely, no way am I ever going back! Staff should have made the decision to stop taking orders or should have warned us about wait time.

Gave the cafe a try and the menu is fairly limited but some nice cold/hot options. What let it down if being totally honest was time waiting for tables which was a little unnecessary as tables had been vacated but were slow to be cleaned. Waiting for a table at the door, found that they need to acknowledge you are there and not feel ignored. The cafe is nice, clean and attractive decor but the service found to be quite disorganised and slow. For the standard they seem to be wanting to aim for, found it be a fairly poor. Waited a good hour from ordering to receive steak and ale pie and no acknowledgement of delay or apology at all from staff. Approached the counter after waiting at least 50 minutes and although polite, no apology made. Where it is known that the waiting time for food is significant, maybe this could be advised at the counter when taking orders to better manage expectations and in my opinion a better service. I decided to visit with my mother with Alzheimer’s which as you can imagine a long wait with nothing said/acknowledged by staff is not easy and doesn’t make for an enjoyable experience. I would only return possibly to take a coffee and not a meal as being perfectly honest Clitheroe has some great cafes with a better service than sadly experienced today at Cafe 1847. The cafe has the potential to be fantastic so really hope that some changes are made to the service to add another nice cafe in Clitheroe to others have visited on several occasions. Payment is taken at point of ordering which was the only reason we had not left after waiting so long for essentially a basic meal. In other cafes in Clitheroe I have either chosen to pay on ordering but always had the option without problem to pay afterwards and leave bill open for possible desserts or coffee etc…just felt a little poor in relation to enjoyable experiences elsewhere in the town.

This was our second visit, the first one being very good, the coffee is lovely. Unfortunately our second visit was not so good. It was around 4 pm and not very busy but it seemed to take an age for someone to show us to a table. We ordered coffee and cakes. Both the cakes were dry and mine was so dry I could not get a fork into it. I took it back to the counter where I was given another type of cake which was just as dry and not very appetising and I left most of it. The other thing I dislike is the fact that you have to pay up front - I am not going to tip staff before I have had any service. All in all a disappointing experience.

We had waited a while to try your new cafe, so today was the day. It's a cafe in a supermarket, there were four or five empty tables so we waited and eventually were asked were we would like to sit. We pointed one out and were told we couldn't sit there because it hadn't been cleaned and we're not allowed to sit there, so we waited for the table to be cleaned by now 15 mins had gone by, the lady in front of us was simalarly fed up of having to wait at the entrance for the man to seat her at an empty table ! It's a cafe for goodness sake, we left as we couldn't wait longer.

This is my second visit first was for breakfast which was really enjoyable so decided to bring a few friends along for lunch . Maybe it is a victim of its own success or the team is new but was a little chaotic staff not sure of what they are doing and lacking direction. Waited about 10 min to be seated although there was tables available but the sign says wait to be seated which we did . Tried to order some food from the menu but was told they had run out of items so we couldn’t order that, eventually we settled on what was available and I decided to have the afternoon tea . Which was really nice but they really need to up their game with the minuscule squares they give you and say they are sandwiches they are tiny even charge a couple more pounds for it and a bit of salad for decoration might make it look a bit more than it actually is . I can’t knock the food it was delicious and my friends really enjoyed there’s . Like I say I’m sure it is just teething problems and a little lack of direction at the moment but it was good food and staff nice and friendly . Will definitely be going again

We booked specially for the Sunday Roast and we weren’t disappointed! We were given five star treatment and the meal was delicious. We were also tempted by a starter and a pudding to follow, both great. Our experience was so good we went back for lunch on the following day, two hot sandwiches, one with soup, one with chips, perfect combo. The major refurb, helpful friendly staff and value for money means the whole experience fully deserves to be busy all day every day. We look forward to returning!
