This is a quaint cafe in Stockbridge. Staff is friendly and coffee was good. Highly recommend.

Tiny but cute cafe. The lemon drizzle cake was delicious, as was the hot chocolate with rose syrup. Friendly service. :) very limited seating though, so be aware!

Great place to go as a woman traveling alone. Got a decaf flat white oatmilk with no awkwardness. Sat and sketched while they played something like Ella Fitzgerald

Lovely coffee and cake in a great location!

This is a quaint and somewhat hidden gem. I stopped for a hot chocolate there partly because the rain had come in and was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is great and drinks are both a decent size and tasty.

The name is a little misleading. Yes, there are some little bookshelfs with very old books displayed, but it's not any kind of reading café. If you don't come for the books, the coffee is nice, since there are only a few seats it's quite calm and you can eat a good breakfast there. Just don't expect books to discover

Sweetest little neighborhood spot! Best thing is the late opening hours. A lifesaver for students. It’s pretty small so getting a table might be a bit of a challenge, but it doesn’t take away from the charm. I love how small and comforting it is. Everyone that works here is lovely all the time. Drinks are exceptional - I particularly enjoy the hot chocolate, and iced seasonal drinks in the warmer months. Delicious matcha too! All in all a great location, good prices, and lovely experience. 10/10 favourite cafe in town

On a cold day we popped into Books N' Cup to warm up. It has a warm, cozy atmosphere that retains so many old and bookish quirks and super friendly staff. The coffee was great and the cakes were even better. We thoroughly recommend Books N' Cup.

My absolute favourite cafe in Edinburgh. Staff are absolutely lovely and food is great. It has such a cozy atmosphere and is open far later than any cafe I’ve come across which makes it an excellent evening spot to socialise in. It can be difficult to get a spot sometimes though as it is quite small so make sure to keep that in mind!

Gorgeous wee cafe! Staff are lovely. Cafe has a very quaint atmosphere. Food isn’t too expensive (for Stockbridge) and very yummy :). Didn’t get to try any of the pastries and cakes but they look delicious and are unique to other places

I felt very good here. Most coffee shops I saw were quite superficial and anxiety-inducing before coming across this one. I really liked the cozy atmosphere and the warmth of the staff. Being my first trip alone as a woman who is learning English, I appreciated the diversity of the clients (some French). If you are looking for a quiet place to relax, work, meditate, this is the perfect place.

Ordered americano and matcha latte. Love the americano, it tastes light and suitable to my preferences. The matcha is also good but too much milk for me. Overall, worth the visit!

Lovely new coffee shop in Stockbridge, cosy with yummy coffee.

The cafe is small and cosy, with some unusual (delicious) drink options. I had a seasonal special iced rose coconut matcha, which was lovely! The food was also simple but tasty. The staff were so friendly and chatty, so we felt very welcome. Also the decor and design is really cosy with books and big armchairs. So overall I’d definitely recommend and would return there on another visit to Edinburgh!

Love the menu here - the rose latte was sooo good and the ceramics are really beautiful. Popped in for a takeaway and then returned to sit in. Both experiences great. And the early and late opening times are a god send.

A cosy place to be with very good sandwiches

The only place I found in Edinburgh that stays open till 10 which something you don’t find easily for a cafe in Europe or the UK. The place and atmosphere are nice but the space isn’t big enough to have a quiet study or work time unless you go with headsets.

The "Books n' Cup Café" is a really nice and welcoming place in this area of ​​Edinburgh. Prices are lower than average and the breakfast offering is quite extensive, with the possibility of stopping to read a book or planning a sightseeing visit to Edinburgh. Very good cappuccino! Next time I know where to return!

I come here 1-2 times a month, and it never disappoints. Regardless of what time you arrive, the drinks are superb. Average Edinburgh prices. My favourite is their chai latte, but I also sometimes order mocha or matcha. I don't order food often, but I have tried a couple of pastries, and they're fresh and tasty. It can get very busy in the afternoon, sometimes it is full with no seats left (especially 1-2pm), but if you come in the morning (9-11am) there's a more relaxed atmosphere, perfect for reading or working on your laptop. Understandably, there's a couple of tables that have labels saying "no laptops," but if you come in the morning you can snatch a table that doesn't have a label and work away.

Given this place less than it might have received as though looking good and nice atmosphere I noted numerous people coming in and leaving immediately due to lack of seats….many tables being commandeered by people working on lap tops. These potential customers would I assume have spent money on produce and left within an hour whereas this modern scourge of “workers” quite simply buy a coffee and stay for hours - depriving coffee shop owners of profits due to filling up the seats with customers willing to spend far more money. NOT fair on average Joe and the owners As an update - I received a very decent/positive reply from the coffee shop, stating that it would be working to rectify the perceived problem with a very fair compromise….you cannot ask for fairer than that…..I look forward to visiting again !!

Absolutely love the flat white at Books N’ Cup Cafe! The coffee is yum and the staff is so so warm! It is the perfect cozy little cafe you’d like to visit when you want to spend a no yap day by yourself, reading a book and sipping on some delicious coffee!

Wasn’t expecting the coffee to be this good!!! Just the way I love it and the best part is they are open till late. Definitely not the last time visiting 💕💕

Absolutely cozy amazing cafe with early and long opening hours. Much needed in area like Stockbridge - after 5, I do want other option to pub. I love the presentation of the coffee and cake.

The staff nice, the place it’s small, maximum 15 person can be inside sitting, but the hot chocolate and sweet cakes and cheesecake are the best.

Stopped by for breakfast this morning. We had some delicious cakes and pastries that were recommended to us by the friendly staff. Not to mention, the coffee was bangin’. Will be back!
