Boojum - Great Victoria Street in Belfast

Used to be a big fan of boojum and would have raved about it. However, as the prices have gone up and up, the portions and therefore quality of the offering has gone down. Called in yesterday for a burrito bowl and for approx £10 I was sorely disappointed. The amount of everything is now easily 1/3rd less than a year or two ago. The server barely put in a scoop of chicken in, in fact he tipped a few bits out of the scoop before he put it in the bowl. The amount of meat has been on the decline for years now but what happened next was a new one. I asked for cheese and sour cream which you can normally rely on at least a good amount - not anymore! A small scoop of cheese and then sour cream squeezed sparingly over the top. You used to get a nice dollop. Not getting one star only because the taste is still good once you find a bit of chicken once in a while in the bowl. Won't be back. I'm not angry, just very very disappointed.

Boojam is one of our favourites in Belfast, the food is always great. We tried the great victoria branch today. Paul the manager, gave such incredible customer and really made our galentines day! Thank you so much x

I'd heard this was a great burrito spot, and I love a good burrito... I can not even tell you how sad I was at the absolute tastelessness of my burrito. Service was friendly, but nothing was seasonned. Beef tasted like it had been stewed in water and nothing else, no coriander taste or lime or anything in anything... no saltiness... just a sad tongue burn from chili or whatever which is not nice without other interesting flavours. Honestly I was starving and I can eat a giant burrito in 5 minutes... took 3 bites and just got depressed and disgusted to have paid 10£ for that sad excuse for a burrito. Couldn't eat it I was so mad and hangry, bought myself a centra pre-mafe sandwich that tasted better to fill the void. Pissed, and will never eat there again. Don't waste your money.

Food was very reasonable priced and yummie! Could have done with being warmer tho. Had a couple of wraps with chicken, rice and black beans…. Very tasty

Ate here twice whilst visiting Belfast. On first impression I thought the table etc needed a really good clean and we nearly left however we were quite hungry. Glad we stayed! All enjoyed our food the two times we were there! Found it to be cheap and cheerful and will definitely be back if I ever visit Belfast again! Staff were pleasant and helpful. No cash, card only!

Great experience - staff are all lovely and the food was absolutely delicious! It is a nice space to meet up with friends in a chilled atmosphere and enjoy good food. It is a fairly reasonable price for food, it is clean and a good atmosphere.

Was visiting Belfast and had heard great things about boojum ,so was really looking forward to trying it, but when I got there they don't accept cash, which was very disappointing you should be given the option of either ,so unfortunately I never got to try this place

Highly recommend food is delicious

Boojum used to be amazing. The portions and quality were what made it great. Now they have expanded to more stores and the quality and quantity are disgraceful for the ridiculous price. You won’t keep customers long. It seems absolutely every ingredient is extra in a bowl. Beans & peppers, jaleponos, cheese, sour cream, Guacamole, red onions, crunch pieces etc. The meat portions are also absolutely shocking. Portions aside on my last two visits the food has been cold (probably don’t want to pay the money to keep it warm) and by the end it is a mushy mess with no meat. Sort your quality and quantity out or you will lose the great brand you started out with.

Visit Date: 21st/November/2023. Staff could do with a wee bit of retraining. Irritable, snappy. First time there and no one explained the ordering process. When I asked I got snapped down. Lady service beans, meat etc was particularly abrupt!!!

U am into halal meat which they don’t serve so I opted for the vegan option. Food was very tasty. Long queue - talks of the quality of food they serve.

Boojum? Boojnone! Over 9 pound for a bowl to now not be filled and for half a red onion to be floating about. Great taste but Jesus lads, 9 pound and less food is a joke. Sort it clean out

Since the new owners took over their burrito is mostly beans and rice with very little meat! Very disappointed and not worth what you pay for.

Boojum has went downhill big time the burritos are half the size they used to be and the quality is very poor yet the prices are up. Today is the last time I ever eat from here again the burrito was really small for the price and it was stone cold avoid this place. Update so late last night I was awoke from my sleep with stomach pains then I was throwing up on and off most of the night and needing the toilet I can say 100 percent it was the burrito because I only had that and water all day yesterday so again AVOID THIS PLACE.

Delicious food to soak up the beer. Fresh and tasty, and with a cold beer a great place to refuel.

Well, where do I start? Ordered two meals, one bowl and one burrito. Made sure I specified on the order in just eat that we did NOT want sour cream on either. Food arrives absolutely plastered in it! Contacted the shop and gave them the order number. The staff member agreed with me that there was a request for no sour cream but I was told “they were busy, a new member of staff had made my order and there is absolutely nothing they can do for me.” He did suggest contacting Just Eat and then Boojum would be happy to refund me the £30 order… raised the request with Just Eat who said they cannot do this without a photograph. Previous orders have been the same, food has been cold and parts of the order have been missing. £30 down the tubes and a load of wasted food! Way to go Boojum!

I must be a glutton for punishment. The last few times I’ve ordered off just eat the order was wrong or had missing items. Today the food didn’t arrive at all but was recorded as delivered. Yet to see if I’ll get a refund but regardless the love for Boojum has finally gone.

Spacious, clean, and delicious burritos

Inspired by the 'free unlimited sides' offer I decided to give boojum a visit. Great as always but I was curious to try the vegetarian 'meat' option and after being graciously offered a sample to taste, I was won over. Absolutely delicious! Accompanied with a side of nachos - not that I needed it - and a beer. Filled a big hole!

Bad service ,bad food ,no tasty,and the staff don't care about customer,no cutlery no napkins,i order 2 burrito,1 was very small and one normal ,the same burrito and topping (3,072023)disaster for my birthday!

Great food. Love the Pollo burrito bowl. Staff accommodated picky orders from various people with a smile. Didn't rate atmosphere as it was after lunch rush, but any other Boojum at peak times is buzzing.

There’s a terrible person on the front of house , witha skin problem, that likes to scratch her flakey skin before handling food, when you point out the obvious hygiene issue she will Say its none Of your business. When you ask for a redo she threatens to charge you double. Also refers to customers as darling. Which is a bit too familiar.

I am an American with family from Texas, so I am quite versed in tex mex. This is not tex mex. This was a savorless mishmash of ingredients that missed the point of what tex mex is trying to achieve. If you want good flavor in a burrito you need to either brine your meats or dry rub them before baking/grilling them. Huge disappointment especially compared to other quick service options nearby.

Mexican fast food restaurant which is supposed to be cheap but you'll end up paying £11 for a burrito and a drink that is mediocre at best. The toilets and the tables need better cleaning.

I heard a lot about this place, so I tried Burrito and salads , but not that much on the top notch, It was Ok to be fair. Sauce which they used was really good.

I had the chorizo burrito, as they had run out of the pulled pork. The chorizo isn't cooked which means it's chewy and flavourless. However, the worst thing is that burrito is just full of rice and very bland. My daughter had the vegan 3 bean chilli and said all she had was mainly rice too. The staff obviously didn't want to be there and didn't and were quite unfriendly. Don't understand why Boojum gets so many good reviews. It was so disappointing.

Wasted 25 minutes trying to pickup my collect order, standing eith a load of Uber eats, just eat and deliveroo drivers and then gave up. Terrible experience.

Been living in Belfast for 5 years now. Boojum has been a lunch staple throughout that time. Tasty food, but over the last few years that cost is getting a bit out of hand. A bit pricy for what you get, but the food is nice for a quick bite to eat.

rude customer service acted uninterested and were screaming and making baby noises while trying to order and eat. i come here regularly so it wouldn’t be enough to put me off the restaurant however if this was my first visit i certainly WOULD NOT be back

Good quick service with friendly staff. Clean and tidy, and great if you are on the go and need something to refuel. Good selection and options.

I ordered online for click and collect. I went to the store and arrived 5 mins before the collection time. After 30 mins of waiting, during which I made myself known I gave up and left. If you too want to waste your time in chaos here, surrounded by Uber eats, just eat and deliveroo drivers with no clear system or order processing screens then this is the place for you. I now have to waste more time trying to get a refund.

They would not accept cash, operate as card and contactless only and refused cash. I did not have my card with me as it was stolen. Very nasty experience. This happened in Limerick Avoid !!

Best burrito in Belfast. Massive portion but it is pricey

This was a 5 star establishment in terms of food quality and value for many years. Standards have started to slip in recent months in terms of portion offerings which is disappointing. Lets get back to the 2018 Boojum!!

My disappointment is jot the food or the service as it is great...it now you are no longer able to pay in cash as they only excepting card payments only...I think this is unfair as it should be my choice what way I would like to pay...some of us still carry and use cash and should be allowed to use it as a payment method. Because of this I shell not be back until they can offer cash payments as well as cards ect.

Boojum helps me to keep my new years resolution to eat low carb my way even when I'm traveling. A lifesaver.

Ever popular mexican restaurant - has got very pricey, I paid 11 quid for a burrito bowl and a bottle of water. Food-wise, very filling and perfect for pre-session "stomach liner"!

Portions seem to have gotten smaller and smaller over the years, and no quesadilla.

After two previous partial deliveries of cold food I haven’t bothered with Boojum for a long time. But I thought I d give it a last try. I shouldn’t have bothered. The wrong order arrived, cold and half unwrapped. Truly never again, with so many other good Mexican options around these days the service is not worth the risk. It makes me wonder how poorly the staff is treated because they certainly don.t give a damn about what they are doing. Avoid avoid avoid.

While working in the kitchen today I was asked by another chef if I have ever tried boojum mexican my reply was no so he bought lunch today and said I must try the burrito. May I say I have been cooking for 30 years and lived in border areas near Mexico and also Florida. I can not believe that what I ate could be called mexican food. I have no idea what to call it maybe wrapped rice and no spice. So if you are passing by just keep going get a better feed at Subway

Probably the rudest staff I have ever encountered. Whoever manages this franchise needs to carry out some training in decent customer service. Unhelpful staff with a disgraceful attitude. For example when I queried an order I got the reply "I heard you the first time, mate". I wouldn't go back here if I was paid to.

The shop was quiet and they were out of some of the fillings but was still a great experience.

The place is opposite Europa hotel in Belfast. I tried the burrito bowl and it was very good. They also have tortillas and you can choose to make your own meal. Overall the place was good except for the long queue during lunch hours.

Went for the pork and found it a lot nicer than the beef

Food was tasty but the team member was very messy. Sour cream and cheese spread across the entire counter, really difficult to avoid cross contamination with the way he was working which is a huge concern for me when I'm ordering a vegan burrito.

Terrible staff and service. If you order leave time to spare. Ordered at a certain slot and it wasn't ready. So missed the train. Then the spoke back saying that we were in the wrong. Then talked amongst themselves about rude customers. I understand that work can be stressful but an experience like this shouldn't happen. Very disappointed.

First time here. Felt like I was causing the staff hassle by not knowing what the different options are and having to ask. Food was an average burrito but felt like hard to work to get it. Won't be back

Fantastic chain of Mexican restaurants in Belfast, can't be quite busy at times.

Delicious and very well priced.

Food was mediocre at best. Portion sizes were good, however the food was luke warm/cold. Flavours were also OK. Staff were useless, laughed at me when I clearly didn't either understand what they said or when I asked for their recommendations (this was not limited to one person it was 3). Didn't upset me just thought it was a bit bizzare behaviour. The icing on the cake was the price. 22 pounds for 2 burritos. That's insane. Won't return for that, literally miles better options like Taco bell, Tortilla, bar burrito for cheaper and better.

This is only my second time ever having a boojum, and on this occasion I was not to impressed. Mostly due to the staff, does customer service no longer exist? I have never came across such miserable staff in my life. Manners cost nothing and neither does a smile, for goodness sake maybe retrain your staff on the importance of leaving customers with a good impression. The food wasn't bad, extremely overpriced and highly unlikely I will pay those kind of prices again. £26 for a burrito a burrito bowl and 2 soft drinks is crazy extortionate.

I am delivering food for them and the waiting time is mad.They only care about the walk on people. I would say it is a busy restaurant but with a good management I believe they can manage the delivery better

Regularly order from here as a lunchtime treat for the office. Definitely an office favourite.

Abwechslung in Imbiss Essen, leckere mexikanische Tacos mit Reis und schwarzen Bohnen und Fleisch. Alles leider nur 'fast' lauwarm und dementsprechend ist man nicht so sicher die Komponenten des Essens einfach herumliegen.

Summary: It's like a Chipotle, but louder... Not quite as polished, but that's fine too. Food was good. You can choose from burritos, tacos, bowls, etc. Pick your rice, protein, and extras. They couldn't make churros or tortilla chips the night I visited. They do have a selection of small and medium Ben & Jerry's ice cream to pick up for desert also. Did I mention it was loud in here?! The counter employees seem to have easy access to the volume, which is good and bad. I'm sure they would field a request to turn it down if you're near them, but God help you when a song they like starts playing (And this is coming from a person that built custom stereos since the mid 90's and owns a 24" subwoofer). Anyway, more upsides than downsides. Great for a quick kind-a sort-a taste of Tex-Mex when you're on the wrong side of the Atlantic.
