Had the Birria tacos and shared the Papitas Fritas - both so so tasty! Also a great strawberry daiquiri :)

I stopped in for a quick dinner while staying at a nearby hotel and was very pleased! The birria tacos and papitas fritas were both delicious. The classic margaritas were also well-made. The staff were attentive and friendly, and the restaurant had a great atmosphere. The music was good, although a tad loud at times. Overall, I'm very glad I found this place!

Flawless! The type of place you want to take someone you have visiting Belfast. Can’t fault the place. Amazing vegan options. Attentive lovely staff that are genuinely passionate about the food and drinks. Menu is to die for. The cauliflower tacos are so fresh and flavourful. The mushroom tacos feel so good for the soul. This is probably the best place for food in Belfast.

Amazing tacos 🌮 and Margherita! Very friendly and welcoming staff

Really positive surprise that we discovered thanks to a friend's recommendation! Because we went there just a couple days into the new year the most places along the street we walked by were closed. That combined with the fact that this place doesn't have the most visible entrance and that to reach it you have to go up an internal stair left us a bit uncertain. But then we entered the place and brought to our table where we could notice the color, the joy, the livelihood. The margarita was quite tasty, in particular the one done with mezcal. The guacamole was delicious and both tacos were really good. The waiter who served us was very kind and enjoyable to chat with.

Lovely food. The staff were helpful - Friday night was busy but they managed to fit us in and moved us so we could have extra time. The cocktails were really nice. We had a mixture of dishes - I had the mushroom birria tacos and really enjoyed them! I would recommend!

Mi esposa y yo compartimos 2 tacos, pero fácilmente podría haber comido el doble! Razonablemente especiado, pero no mucho sabor o sustancia. En general, una experiencia decente principalmente debido a la calidad del servicio en lugar de la comida!

Really tasty tacos, we had the Oyster mushroom birria and the fish tacos. We also had the frijoles and guacamole small sides, which were also super yummy. The staff was lovely and managed to squeeze us in even though we didn't have a reservation. I would definitely go back 😊

What a wonderful place to have dinner in: the staff are friendly and eager to share tips on meals and drinks, and the food is absolutely amazing and super tasty. The menu is small but well-curated and you're guaranteed to have a proper taste of Mexico. Last time our order came in late and we got complementary cocktails - kudos to the staff. Speaking of drinks: the margaritas are to die for and I personally recommend the Long Island. All in all it's a great restaurant, I've already been there twice and I'd go a third time.

The food was super tasty, just a little bit for our taste. I had the black bean tostada and the vegan cauliflower tacos. Both extremely tasty. Service was very friendly, just a bit stressful.

Por suerte tropezamos con este lugar aquí. Caminando por el barrio de la catedral nos decepcionó el esnobismo. De todos modos, escondido arriba bastante céntrico en la ciudad, fácilmente perdido pero un gran menú y tacos realmente encantadores. El martes es noche especial de tacos por £10. Realmente vale la pena. Gran personal amable y un servicio rápido. Exactamente lo que necesitábamos. ¡Y asegúrate de reservar! Gran lugar para la familia o amigos.

Great spot! We had tacos, definitely some of the best I’ve had and one of the potato sides, everything came out piping hot and fresh. Cocktails are lovely, and staff were great. Only complaint was that the furniture in the place was a little worn down but it still had a really great atmosphere.

Went last night with 18 people. The chefs were outside and we had a chat. They were sound, gave us a sample as one of our party didn’t like spicey food 😂 The food was amazing, most of the group said it was the best Mexican they’ve ever had. Cocktails were great. It was pretty busy last night but the staff dealt with it. Can’t fault the place. Would 100% recommend

Small, lively restaurant with fab food and fab staff.

La Taqueria is a group of taco restaurants in Belfast. Their food and service is of a very high standard. We came here as we have seen such good reviews of their vegan options. We started with the Guacamole sharing platter for two which was super fresh and crisp. Both the Nachos and the Guac is homemade and makes all the difference to taking this dish next level. For our Tacos we had the Coliflor Capeado, which is a Cauliflower based taco. I thought this my favourite of the two we had selected. The cauliflower was super crunchy and delicious. The sauce and mayo made the whole thing very flavourful. We also tried the Mushroom Birria, this was also very nice but I would not recommend this dish if you don't like vegan cheese. I personally don't and therefore asked for it removed, I think another alternative could used. Similar to our cauliflower taco as the sauce and frying process is what added its uniqueness. The mushroom soup for dipping was wonderful, so overall very satisfying dish. On the side we got the Papitas Fritas which were extremely crunchy, well seasoned with a wonderful creamy sauce. Overall I could easily recommend this for vegans and non vegans alike. The portion size and the cost are all well balanced, can't wait to get back 😊

The service charge added on for table of 2, no option given. Why? I just felt cheated. Tips should be voluntary this is not America.

Been to other location of belfast city centre which was lovely . This was such a downgrade. Added a 10% service charge for a table of 3 people . Should have been warned beforehand . Would have tipped anyways but I believed this to be over the top and took the choice out of our hands . The food was average and we booked a table and were put outside , it was not a very warm evening and weren’t made aware of this when booking . The place had one bathroom and was constantly a que of people waiting to use . Had to wait 15 minutes for the bathroom .The positives were the margaritas and that was all . The food took a long time for the place being fairly quiet and being in the final group of booking time . Couldn’t believe the downgrade from one location to another .

Visited this place again, and felt I had to write a review. Its food is delicious and its non alcoholic drinks are devine. It's a great place to visit with friends. The staff are very helpful and it is reasonably priced.

Tho I love food here, the service is terrible. In Belfast, at a restaurant like this, the customer is definitely not the king. I asked that a dish be packed for home. Waiter says, sure we will do this when you are ready to go home. And then the waiter goes home! We ask for the dish at the time of paying the bills and the butler who comes simply says the man tending to us has gone off duty and the kitchen is now closed. So much for good service! Problem is this laziness and lack of accountability in serving customers and this seems to be the prickly issue! In a customer oriented industry such as food and hospitality, such rude gestures and lack of accountability matters and I wonder what the restaurant is doing to make sure this isn't repeated. I feel so angry about this, esp because I wanted food packed for my daughter who was waiting eagerly for the same at home!!!!

What happened?! A few years ago this was one of my favourite places for dinner. Returned recently and the menu is changed drastically. Much more expensive, much smaller portions, much less authentic cuisine. Very difficult to get a dairy free/vegan option. My order was bland and unappetising. My partner's was inedible. At least the cocktails are still good...... But this place has changed dramatically and for the worse.

Tiny entrance takes you upstairs to a small room. The food was delicious and the margaritas were restorative

Amazing service and great food as always! Staff had a strong awareness about coeliac disease and even offered to change the oil to make sure there was no cross contamination when making tortilla chips.

Great service, amazing food, smashing margaritas

The best Mexican food I have ever eaten, service was impeccable and all the food we ate was 5 stars. We began with the guacamole and the fresh tortilla chips and guacamole was a brilliant mix of flavours - I highly recommend the light salsa - after that we had each had a variation of the tacos all of which were perfect. Finally we had some churros to finish, often restaurant churros taste oily however these were incredibly balanced between sweet, savoury and crunch in addition to the perfect pairing of caramel/chocolate sauce.

The service is excellent, the food really tastes like Mexico, the atmosphere is pleasant and you definitely get a good taste in your mouth.

We visited the restaurant early evening on a Tuesday. The restaurant was quite busy (considering the time of the day) but the service was very friendly and fast. The food was tasty. Would visit again.

I seldom give 5 stars. My pictures don’t do them justice. But this place has some outstanding food. The Birria tacos are to die for, delectable and sinful. Recommend the side option of patitas chorizo (potatoes with chorizo). You must not miss this place.

My photo speaks for itself. 10/10 3 portions of tacos, a side and 4 cocktails (tenner each) was 92.50.

The servers were lovely and attentive, but unfortunately the food was just ok. It was pretty expensive for the portion sizes as well. The music was quite loud and the general ambiance wasn't great. The menu does show a lot of promise but overall just not for me.

We are from the Pacific Northwest ( coast of NW Washington). I am 1/2 Mexican and grew up eating REAL Mexican food. Where we leave does NOT have any good Mexican food. We have to go to the next county. We have been traveling for a month and had some great meals yet were looking for a change. Imagine our surprise finding this restaurant! Laura ( the owner) is a fabulous bartender and made margaritas that were as good if not better than anywhere! My wife and I shared the guacamole special which was so good and again a break from the cuisine we have been enjoying. And then the Birria Tacos!!! Oh my my! They were exceptional and their sauces were great! ( I asked for some muy picoso salsa and they gave me a special stash from the back ( I apologized to them as I used almost the whole bottle🤦 it was that good! I love spicy and Ireland us not known for really spicy food) I highly suggest this place for a great change up! Cheers

I don't say this lightly when I say this is the best Mexican food I've ever had and one of the best meals I've ever had. Incredible food. Incredible drinks. 2 vegetarians and 2 meat eaters and everyone was so impressed with the food. Warning don't go if you like cilantro... As it's in Mexican cooking... And if you don't realise that then that's on you

This is a great little Mexican. Food was delicious. Especially the fish taco.. yum! Great margaritas and great staff. Shame I live in Bristol as would definitely be a regular here.

So so good. The Guacamole starter with toasted pepitas and queso was a fabulous start to the meal. Then we had the fish and birria tacos. Amazing! As close to Mexico we well get in a while. The “spicy” salsa wasn’t overpowering and added a nice “hum” to the tacos. We each tried a margarita. Sorry “Tommy” the habanero margarita won hands down. As always the service was impeccable. The best mexican food I've had in the UK for years

Booked a table before going to Becky hill in Custom House square , food was good, service could be a little more attentive as I kept having to turn to get someone’s attention as we were going threw the margarita list lol , no real atmosphere , think most tables that were in at peak time was 5 or 6 , would I go back , absolutely for the tequila lol

Love their cocktails too, coconut margaritas are the best. their verdita shot is/was delicious, a must have to end every visit with, please please bring it back!!! All the staff are great craic (especially Laura) and very knowledgeable on the food and drink. Will be back again and again.

The food was quite decent although the broth for my birria tacos was completely lacking in any flavour or seasoning and the cod which was ordered as a starter looked like it had been diced with a spoon with every piece still hanging onto the next. But ultimately this would of been okay but the reason I'm writing a review for the first time in my life is because we received the worst service i have ever received ..as someone who has been to la taqueria many times since its opening its sad to see it go downhill. After receiving two tequila and having not yet got our two beers my partner asked excuse me are our beers on the way? To be told i didn't know you wanted any as we watched our "waitress" storm off to angrily pour them and question our server who came to say he didn't know we ordered them as well .. honestly I'm not mexican and I highly doubt many people enjoy a shot of tequila with their 3 courses . This was the catalyst for a frankly awful evening we were made to feel very unwanted all because my partner asked if our beer was coming. For the rest of the meal we were not approached to ask if everything was okay or if we wanted anything else. At one point our glasses were cleared by the waitress as she snatched them aggressively from the table without a word or eye contact. Honestly it was the most awkward least enjoyable dinner of my entire life. As someone who works in hospitality I despise reading unjust reviews but this was disgraceful. Paying decent money to have such an awful experience by someone who clearly should not be in this job is not what this industry is about. Its a shame because I loved la taqueria before but I will never be back.

We visited the Ormeau Road branch on a Friday night. An awful experience from start to finish. Firstly, they ran out of the wine we wanted and only had one bottle of the second (less preferred option). Also ran out of cider. Apparently they had a “busy week”. Really not good enough and not what you’d expect on a Friday night. The waiter was rude, service was slow and the food wasn’t great. Then they had the nerve to stick a tip onto the bill. So all in all I would definitely not recommend this place.

Great little Mexican restaurant! Really enjoyed the guacamole tostada and the black bean tacos! Portion size was more than enough! The spicy margarita was delicious! This place was great and definitely quenched my Mexican food fix!

Food was tasty and fresh but the portion was quite small for the price.

Really nice spot with great staff. The food I got though was absolutely drown in coriander to the point where it completely over powered the meal. I'm sure they would serve it with less or without any, but the first time you go, you are unprepared for the mountain of coriander. Three corianders out of five!

Some of the best Mexican food I've had anywhere, stopped in early on a Friday and was already busy; staff were great, service quick and everything we had was outstanding!

Amazing food, very tasty and innovative and more authentic than a lot of Mexican places. The sides and margaritas were also very good. Friendly and efficient service, would recommend! It gets very busy, so booking ahead is essential.

I booked a table online. Tapped in my card details as required. When I arrived they said the booking hadn’t gone through. Apparently you need to return to the site and click something else. The waiter admitted this has been an issue for 6 mths....
