Bombay Spice in Redbridge

Having been customers for the past 25 years I can only say that our food has always been very good. Tonight's meal was excellent. I am sorry to see that some people have not had the same experience but would urge them to try Bombay Spice again. Definitely worthwhile.

One of the better Indian takeaways in the area, not amazing but decent especially when it comes to value for money

Bombay Spice has been a favourite of mine for a couple of decades now and if ever I fancy a curry, their number's on speed dial for a good reason. And nobody in Essex has ever delivered food as fast as Bombay spice does every time I place an order. Just thoroughly enjoyed my first curry of 2024! Thanks Bombay Spice.

Worst Indian takeaway ever! Ordered lamb curry and the lamb had more fat than meat. Also the lamb had a funny smell when biting into it and the actual pieces of lamb are too small. The saag paneer was too sweet and I don’t know why the paneer was cut in half. The samosas, naan & rice were all basic. Honestly, did not enjoy anything really apart from the free poppadoms but even they were too salty and had to limit eating it. Will not be ordering from here again!

Having been a loyal customer for 15 years I am appalled by the service from some jumped up oik at this place! Ordered our usual 2 talis. Last few occasions very little meat in either massala or bhuna. The older gent there knows me well and makes sure our meals are full of meat. Phoned back tonight to complain that I had 2 pieces of bhuna rest was tomatoes and sauce! Only to be called a liar and why would the chef do that its not beleivable you are lying!! Suffice to say I told him exactly what I thought of him. Clearly loyalty means nothing here. I wont be ordering again for what is 17.00 quid for what is essentially sauce!! Gone right downhill lately and this little twerp doesnt care much about retaining customers. Judging by other reviews other people feel the same. Chigwell Tandoori dearer but much much better quality and staff much nicer as well. Good luck keeping your customers with this attitude!

There is hardly any meat in your portions,,and portions are really SMALL ,, food is mediocre and delivered lukewarm! Nan bread was tiny!!!!!

Thought I had to do a review because the existing reviews doesn’t do this place any justice. Ordered because it was on my way home from the gym and though I’ll give it a go Usually when I order a chicken dansak from other places , it’s like they forgot to put in the chicken , not with Bombay spice no complaints here packed with chicken and flavour , Mrs enjoyed her butter chicken , sagg aloo was also delicious. Give it a go

Horrible service through user eats. Promised food for 40 mins delivery and then canceled order after 90 mins.

Worst experience ever🤮🤮🤮. We ordered egg fried rice....boy oh boy😂😂😂, they just put yellow rice with some scrambled eggs(no taste, no flavour nothing means nothing), then we ordered butter chicken... everytime I write one item I feel like laughing 😂😂😂....it's not butter chicken, it's coconut chicken and moreover it's not a main course it's a dessert(I think they put a whole tumbler of sugar in it - so sweet). You people seriously need to change your chef or if he need a training let us know - will love to teach him. We order food not because we don't know how to cook, we order to get a day free of cooking. Take the advice.....😡

Food was below average and lukewarm. Delivery took over 2 hours, pretty disappointing really. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant for delivery.

Strictly not recommending to order the food from this place as I’ve order the food and whatever I’ve requested they don’t bother to do. They sent the boiled food I believe because there was no taste at all. NO TASTE. JUST MONEY WASTED. Not a single item was good. Damn really.

Will add a photo next time because there will definitely be a next time. Ordered Chicken Korma, Madras, pilau rice and peswari naan. Ordered in shop so had 2 samosas while I watched the chef prep my order. Extremely fast, polite service AND good value for money.

Yummy food, plenty of quantity. We always take biriyani (l wouldn't say it's authentic in taste, to be honest), but our entire family enjoy it.

What I love about this take away is the quality for the price. My personal favourite is Chicken Dansak. Here the treat is the dish is never the same. Sometimes hot with a dry pepper overtone, another time sweet and tasty. Always, for me, a delight. The Lamb chops can be variable, from fair to fabulous. Regarding other dishes I cannot comment as I’ve only had a few of them and all were tasty but Dansak is still my dish.

Ordered two biriyanis, Great meat portion on my chicken and lamb. Came with my lentil and veg curry sides also not forgetting to mention my free papadoms. I thought it will take longer than 30 mins on a Saturday night. Came piping hot with my salads and sauces. Honestly as a local woodford lad I was just about to call up Bombay spice when I saw the 1 star review... honestly what a load of rubbish this is the BEST curry house around. I’ve eaten Michelin star Osian cuisine as well as all the other locals but this is the daddy honestly try it for yourself do not pay any attention to the bad reviews

A decent standard local takeaway. Decent portions, delivered quickly and a reasonable price. A bit too heavy on sugar (Dhansak) and generally a bit cloying/gooey but I think most wouldn't be disappointed. The breads would greatly benefit from better flour - but this is true of most (not all) places. It's one of those things you notice once you've tasted the difference. I see the hygene ratings are good now.

So sad really. Everything was good as usual, then I found a very small bag with two tiny triangular pastries inside. I thought they must be part of the free starter. I then realised that they were the 'vegetable samosas' (@ £2.25) from the starter menu. Think mini Samosa's and you may be thinking on the large side. Think Legoland, think Lilliputian, think taking the mick out of your wallet, think bye bye Bombay Spice!

Been ordering vegetarian dishes here for a long time and it had become our favourite place. This afternoon, whilst eating yesterdays leftovers for lunch, I bit into something awful in the saag. Spat it out, it was a big lump of chicken skin. I haven't eaten meat in 2 years but I knew exactly what it was. Totally outrageous. Have been reported to food standards agency and have kept the sample. Furious with this restaurant!

We ordered a chicken tikka on Sunday it came. It tasted awful I phone An complained as my sons plate had water all around the curry he put a piece of chicken in his mouth An it burst with lots of water coming out of it. He swollen it. When I called them they said they would bring new ones I said ok. But when they turned up I didn't want to eat it. My son had some more we left the rest. That night my son was up all night being g sick An going to the toilet. I woke that morning to my son still vomiting all over my carpet chicken tikka. I called An complain An made them give me a full refund will never get from there again. To me it looked like Friday/Saturday left overs even the oinion bargjis looked horrible full off fat An mushy falling apart. NEVER AGAIN!!!! My poor son is still unwell!!!

Been a customer here for longer than I can remember. Honestly wouldn't get my takeaway from anywhere else in the Woodford area as long as I live here. Always hot and on time, and portions are more than generous. Delicious!

Decent curry. If you go there you can see right into the kitchen which is a sign of quality.

In March this year I visited this take away and got a chicken tikka. The following day I became very ill with loose stools, sweats and general weakness. After two weeks of this I visited my GP who told me I had caught campylobacter H Pyori and was suffering severe food poisoning. When I told them I had eaten a takeaway curry the night before they said this was almost certainly the culprit. It took me four months to recover completely, so unless you fancy spending two weeks on the toilet don't eat from here.

Best curry takeaway around - try the homemade vegetable samosas and aubergine dishes which are my favourites. Get your order in early as they get busy and it can take an hour to get your food delivered.

Fast service, fairly priced and tasty ! Staff are very helpful with our dietary and allergy requirements. We have ordered from them several times and they have always been happy to prepare us dishes not on their menu. The naan bread is exceptional !!! I have been around india for almost 4 years and it is comparable to the nicest I found - Enjoy!

I have been using this takeaway for 5 years and I have never ever had such a good local curry house with personable and friendly service. I would not hesitate to recommend this curry takeaway. The foot is tasty, balanced well with spices and the portions are generous and v reasonably price. Well worth a try.
