Expectation too high, staff too much sure of themself calling them the best Italian restaurant in London. As I'm Italian I can tell stay away from this scam. Bread (they said made by them) was cold and felt like rubber. Frittura mista ok, nothing special, fritti romani too much simple as flavour and very small (at least the one with cheese), the little flatbread (I don't remember exactly which was, just I remember there was lard) was horrible. Pasta we choose the orecchiette cime di rapa (a bit overcooked) but was good. The only good thing about this meal (portion bit small for price in my opinion). Dessert we went for cannolo, as the bomba was finished. Huge mistake. Even this advised as home-made. Everything was OK apart from the pastry of the cannolo. If you italian you know that's not right. Coffee was the UK average level. Spent in 4 people with one drink each almost 200 pound. One of the worst experience ever in London. There are plenty more Italian restaurant 100 times better.

Did not know what food poisoning was until now I went there for one of my friend’s birthday. The menu is a mess / there is almost no English translation, some dishes have 2 prices but there is no label way (1/2 and 1 portion we were told). I don’t like anything seafood, or raw stuff, so, with this restaurant being selected by the birthday girl, it was a struggle to find what to eat to start with. Eventually I settled for pasta with venison ragu and spicy cheekpeas with tomato sauce and mint. I could not say that the food tasted bad at the time. 2 hrs later the mother of food poisonings kicked in…for the next 12 hrs I did not know what to do with myself, was in and out of the bathroom, could not sleep at all. The next day - dehydrated, tired, starved - was not pleasant either. 35 hrs since that dinner, feeding on boiled rice and bananas with no energy to stand up for 2 minutes and 39C fever. Another girl from the table had the same pasta and she was feeling fine (however she did not seem to have touched the meat - it was all gathered on the side of the plate). So it was either the venison ragu or the check peas dish. The place is very crowded and towards the end we were pretty much kicked out as the “other reservation” has arrived. Regarding service, one of the guys who attended our table - Marco - was outstanding but he was pretty much the only one.

Had an incredible Italian dining experience here. We walked in on a Friday night and quite honestly, Alessandro was the best waiter we’ve ever had- warm and affable, passionate about Italian cuisine, spot on with his recommendations, and attentive to detail. He really made our experience exceptional in every way. With his endorsement we opted to go for dishes that paired with the seasonal truffle purchased next door and had no regrets- the truffle was a perfect addition to all of them, especially the tagliolini with egg yolk and butter. We loved that Bocca di Lupo features dishes from different regions of Italy, so it’s a great place to go if you want to break away from the same-old for Italian cuisine (especially true for us visiting from the States). Every dish l was exceptional, down to the complimentary bread served while waiting for dishes- the olive oil for dipping it in was the best I’ve ever had, if that can be said about something so simple! But I say it to highlight how no details are overlooked here. Our thanks to Alessandro and Bocca di Lupo for such a memorable meal!

The service was excellent, but I was quite disappointed with the food. My main, the Pumpkin Risotto, had some good flavors, but the Veal Ragu was underwhelming—I've had better from Pasta Evangelists. Considering we booked a month in advance to secure a table, I would recommend exploring other options. If you're willing to wait that long, I'd suggest booking a table at Luca in Farringdon instead.

This is a real little gem of a place, tucked away just off of Shaftesbury Avenue. Took my girlfriend here for her birthday (she was the one who actually recommended it as she'd read Grace Dent's review and thought it sounded worth a try). It did not disappoint. The focus here is on Italian 'small plates', and the waiter recommended we order 2-3 plates per person (although it's worth pointing out that a lot of the menu items also have a 'large' option as well). We went for the cured veal with lemon, bagna càuda, pappardelle with venison, oven-baked scallops and roasted mallard. This was more than enough for both of us but with my first bite of the pappardelle I was already wishing I'd gone for the large option, because it was absolutely sensational. The bagna càuda was the star of the show. It was the first time either of us had tried this dish, and we were both blown away by the velveteen texture and the complexity of flavours; slightly bitter at first but swiftly giving way to a rich, sumptuous umami from the anchovies. I personally enjoyed the veal with lemon but my girlfriend said that was her least favourite out of everything we ate, but not taking anything away from it. The scallops were three small but delicious nuggets of awesomeness. At £17 for the trio they needed to be great, and they certainly did not disappoint in terms of flavour. And then there was the roasted mallard, which was a thing of beauty. We paired the whole thing with a bottle of Valpolicella which was perfect. We finished with a hazelnut gelato and chocolate marzipan ball, both were delightful. The gelato was a must, considering they make all their own ice cream on-site and also run the gelateria 'Gelupo' across the street. Overall I cannot fault Bocca Di Lupo in the slightest. The staff were great, the food was sublime from start to finish. One tiny drawback is that because of its small size it can feel a little bit claustrophobic especially when busy, but once you taste what they have to offer you simply won't care.

"Great food! Wonderful staff. The manager was charming. Our waiter was helpful and fun. We sat at the bar and the dishwashing, drying, dessert making, wine pouring man in front of us has the be the hardest working man in the restaurant business. He never stopped. And gave us a lot of great commentary. So fun to watch the grillman at work. We were recommended by the owner's Mother's art gallery (She has a number of paintings in the restaurant) in Atlanta GA US. They were spot on. And so was Bocca Di Lupo!"

Italian restaurant in the heart of London, live music and a very nice and welcoming environment. We had the pleasure of meeting a very easygoing and friendly staff member of Calabrian origins. Refined cuisine and fair prices for the location. I highly recommend it for a romantic dinner in your London stay

We've twice had a Christmas lunch here for a large group from work - and the atmosphere was convivial and the food delicious.
