We have been there just for a desert but the service was very poor while the cafe is small and not busy at that time. The staff not allow us to order only the desert for sharing so we have to order two for each of us even we wanna order a big bowl for sharing!? The taste was just so-so, nothing special. The staff was rude and the discount promotion is not real!!!!! Will not visit again!

The food was bad the service was even worse, all of the staffs did not even tried to tell us that it's a promotion time and we would get a discount, when we noticed that we would get it we then asked a staff and she said we could not get a discount just because we asked for a bill after the promotion time but actually we did ask and paid before 4pm (the end of promotion time). Further, a waitress acted and spoke with us like we asked her for a free food!

We were seated downstairs and were told to ring the bell when ready to order, however we rang it about 5+ times only for the waiter to ignore us. Only managed to order after 40 mins. A group of about 15-20 people arrived and were immediately served. To our annoyance, they also received their food before us, despite us waiting for more than 1hr. The food was decent, but not amazing.

Went here to meet up with my friend and ordered a yummy looking mango desert. The food came right away but it had hair in it. With the hair is a spoon with dessert (not the same one I ordered) spilt on it. Had it returned then my friend's food came...and guess what, her dessert had hair in it as well. Called the manager and told her about the hair in the food. She said that her staff wears a hairnet and she doesn't know whats happening today. She assured me that she'll check but she never did. Slow service. Dirty food.

Popped in with a friend. Decided to share a bubble tea as the glasses looked massive but on ordering, we were informed that it was one item per guest...slightly weird? So we had to order a bottle of water for £2 to go with our mango bubble tea. Bit of a waste really? Bubble tea is good but service is unbelievably slow. We will be sticking to Bubbleology in the future.

I am actually surprised when reading other reviews before typing this. In my opinion, the desserts were not super nice, just so-so. Some of the menu tastes weird to my friends and I.Moreover, the service was bad. OMG. My friends and I were chilling at our table and talking. And I totally did not expect the waitress to suddenly put the receipt on our table. Like, EXCUSE ME? You are chasing us out once we are done with our food? =.=Alright then we would leave. Then we decided to go to the washroom before leaving and we thought of putting our bags and coats on the table first. And the waitresses were like, I'm sorry someone else is waiting to go to your table. OKAY FINE. This is how you manage your customers? Chasing the customers out indirectly when you are lacking of tables for other customers. I don't see other famous restaurants which are always full (e.g. Burger & Lobster/Ippudo Ramen) doing that to their customers? We were so annoyed. Hence yeah there won't be a second visit anymore.

I was so lucky stumbling on this asian joint! The name told me they must have boba tea - and sure they did! Plenty of flavours and variants of both the drink and the pearls! They also have a superdeal on eating - choose any 3 dishes for abt £10! I am glad we went in, I guess I would never have gone here to eat specifically. We had chicken and spring rolls and it was so-o-o- delish!!! Super!Brown sugar tea is sweet and has a specific taste but I liked it.The original is often the best.I always go for the cold milk teas.If you haven't tried boba tea before - you should go here!If you already have tried it - go here!! I have to start by saying that the staff are incredibly friendly. The drinks however were the worst concoctions my friend and I have ever tasted. We were passing by Boba Jam on a night out and were allured by the bright lights and seemingly infinite choice of sweets and drinks available. As usual when I visit somewhere new I asked the staff as to what they recommend and was told to try the Uji Matcha Milk Tea by an extremely enthusiastic barman (for lack of a better word). There seemed to be quite some process involved in making the drink, the barman carefully measures all sorts of powders, adding ingredients and blending them together before placing the open drink container into some machine which seals the top. So detailed was the process that my friend and I imagined that once we pierced the newly sealed tops we would be transported to heaven, alas what waited for us beneath the newly sealed top was what I can only describe as cold 3 day old tea with little black balls that taste similar to licorice...not pleasant. After only 3 sips I could take no more. I have to say that the store did seem busy and considering the recommendations from the bubble tea enthusiasts on this site I am starting to wonder whether it is just that my friend and I happen to different tastes from everyone else but there you have it, if you have not been before you have been warned!

We went here for Karaoke and it was dull. The space we had was literally 2 x 3 meters and that was for 4-5 of us. The karaoke system was poor although the song choice was big. The video's in the background during singing was bad, it was the same video over and over again and it didn't matter what the song was! The service was okay though, they came promptly but the overall experience wasn't exactly good.

They serve the weirdest, most wonderful Chinese shakes, teas and desserts! The popping boba that comes mixed in with most things are just the most unusual things I've ever tried. Boba Jam serves snacks (eg chicken wings, sausages, etc) but I have never tried those dishes (will do some day). I usually come here for dessert after lunch / dinner somewhere else in China Town. This time round, there were 5 of us (including 1 child). The waiter originally gave us a rather crammed table but agreed to give us a bigger one near the window when we asked. The dessert menu was full of choices - hot, cold, drinks, icecream, pancake, combination... We were spoilt for choice. Eventually, we ordered 4 rather different things - 1 fruit-based, 1 Lo, 1 waffle, 1 jelly-based. They all tasted good - courtesy of sugar syrup - but this was what we expected. The interior was nothing to write home about. There was a poor quality TV (screen colour so faded it looked like monochrome) showing some KTVs. Service was average - they take your order, give you your dessert, clear your dishes soon after you finish and ask if you want the bill. Price is reasonable (given their fairly prominent location in the middle of Shaftesbury Avenue). We are happy. :)

I visited Boba Jam today and wish I hadn't. I have actually been here several times and found the customer service okay before so when I went today with my husband and a friend I did not expect what was coming next. We were seated downstairs and after receiving the menus, proceeded to place our order with Daniel who turned out to be the manager. When we received our order I took a spoonful of my dessert only to find myself biting on something hard. Upon spitting the mouthful out I then saw to my horror it was a SHARD OF PLASTIC! My husband then pointed at an object on the side of the desert which turned out to be a part of a plastic nozzle. I waved down the manager and showed him, and he quickly picked up all the plastic bits we had pulled out and quickly took it away saying he would replace it. He then came back to apologise saying that the person preparing the desert had been looking for it and said that it would be discounted. I have to say the explanation was pretty worrying and I was quite unsure what to do at this point. When the desert came it was pretty safe to say I was quite unnerved by the experience and did not enjoy the replacement, Daniel did not even check that all was well. When the bill came I was surprised that Daniel had still added the item onto the bill but had taken off a "managers discount" of 10%. I called him over and told him I was not happy to pay anything towards my dessert (which was £4.95) and though I could understand that accidents could happen, this did not change the fact that I found plastic in my dish and I could have easily choked on it! He replied that he had said sorry and that he claimed he had already discounted the item half the price (although it was only a 10% discount), he replied that he had replaced it and if I did not want to pay should have said should not have accepted the replacement when it was brought. He had in fact never asked if I would want a replacement or not -he simply whisked away the offending dessert and all evidence as quickly as he could. I pointed out that it was the restaurant whose responsibility it is to protect it's parton's from such health hazards which could have ended up fatal and the least they could do was comp the dessert as an apology! His next words were the most ridiculous things that have ever been uttered by anyone working in a restaurant let alone a manager. He accused me of trying to cheat them out of money, that I was someone who always looks for a free meal, and even replied that people who look for freebie meals will always look for excuses when I asked him did he really think there would have been a problem with me paying had there not be pieces of plastic in my food. He even went so far to say that they did not want people to come here who are looking for free meals to which I informed him that I had never ask for a free meal in my life (well I had never found plastic in my meal either!) and would never come back after being treated in such a way. As I refused to pay he took the rest of the dessert off the bill and we happily left after the rest of my party paid.I have never been treated in such a manner let alone after finding something which could have been a serious health hazard in my food. Daniel's ideas of customer service belong in the playground not in a cafe. To not waive less then £5 after such a serious mistake is absolutely ridiculous.Do eat here if you want to find plastic in your food and be treated like you're a criminal.

I was so pleased to find bubble tea @ Boba Jam! I know they have a restaurant area but have never eaten there. The bubble tea cafe, however, is really good! Being Taiwanese, I think I have a pretty good barometer of what bubble tea should be like. ;)The price for 2 honey green teas w/pearls is £7.20, which is reasonable for London. I come here probably once a week to get my bubble tea fix and am always happy with the taste. Also, one big plus is that they have a "frequent buyer card", meaning you can get a stamp for each tea you purchase and after 10 stamps, the next drink is free.

I strongly advise to avoid this place...the staff are incompetent. No card payment facility. The ATM didn’t dispense correct cash. The drinks are awful and the food is terrible at best ! Carlton Lounge is much better for Shesha and food and is in a much better setting, this place is more of a make-shift smokers den at the back of your garden...
