On their way to being one of the best pizzas in Scotland. Delicious artesanal dough with seasonal toppings from the garden and surrounding areas. Well worth a visit.

An amazing lunch stop on the drive from Aberlour to Culloden Battlefield. First, the house estate and gardens are beautiful. Second the food was phenomenal. The focaccia was warm, slightly salty and pillowy soft with a lovely olive oil on the side. The leek and morbier cheese starter was creative beautiful and delicious, loved the leek capers. The scallop crudo was fresh and delicate and would have benefited from shaved radish rather than cubed but otherwise yummy. The rump steak and fries cooked to the right temperature. The halibut & bonne femme was sublime. The absolute deal of the day was the Sunday Roast with cauliflower au gratin, roasted vegetables to perfection, roasted potatoes and the gravy with a popover. The desserts where light especially delightful the chocolate mousse and roasted fig. We understand that the menu changes very often. The drinks and curated wine list was small but beautiful paired to the meal. This lunch was a true treat worthy of any immerging foodie scene, a joy in the Highlands. Awesome discovery!!!

Absolutely incredible and simply perfect. We have just returned, happy and full from my wonderful birthday dinner. The staff could not have been more attentive and friendly, they created such a lovely atmosphere. The pricing was a pleasant surprise, I expected many of the dishes to be at least double their price. When you consider the quality, produce and perfect execution Boath Garden Cafe is incredibly reasonably priced. The picturesque setting matched with the high standard of food and service means we will look forward to returning, even if that does incur a several hour journey from St. Andrews- it would be well worth the trip! Thank you for making my birthday such a treat, we look forward to joining you again!

Beautiful and unexpected. We arrived by chance and were surprised. The place has its own garden and a small pond that gives it an unexpected air. The food was excellent...a break from fish & chips. We also saw that there is a hotel there that looks very nice. We recommend it.

Relaxed restaurant bordering a lovely walled garden with tables inside and out. The food is brilliant at times. A nouvelle cuisine portioned mackerel was delightfully fresh and tasty. Fillet steak with potato and carrots was a glorious piece of meat perfectly rare in a great sauce with rainbow carrots (nearly lost a star for the odd presentation of potato - I’ve heard of pomme purée but this was more a pot of cream with a hint of potato flavour - I needed to ask for a spoon to serve it). Dessert of chocolate, coffee and hazelnut would not be out of place in a 2/3 Michelin star joint. The menu worked well with our diverse group offering haute cuisine options alongside standards like margherita pizza and steak with fries (also the best piece of meat he ate in Scotland according to my son). Sides like cauliflower cheese also excellent. Service was friendly but inexperienced at times. The senior waiter opened the bottle of wine before showing it - a much inferior vintage to the one listed on the label (although he didn’t seemed perturbed when I rejected it as he said he could sell it by the glass). Happily I traded up to what turned out to be an excellent bottle of 2015 Fronsac. When one of our party mistakenly asked if the purple carrots were burnt a more junior waitress insisted they were mushrooms! But overall the excellent cooking and location win through.

Such waste of an opportunity as a restaurant. Gorgeous garden surroundings and pleasant front of house staff but disastrously slow service and then very disappointing portions, grossly overpriced, - sorry to have to say . . .

The Garden Cafe is just 10 minutes out of Nairn by car, very easy to get to with plenty of parking. The cafe is behind the main house and even on a cloudy day in November, we could see how beautiful and serene the gardens are! Cooper provided fantastic service and the salmon and pizza were delicious. Moderately priced, £30-40 for 2. Very worth it!

We had lunch here for our 10th Wedding Anniversary, the experience wasn't the same since changing owners (we've enjoyed eating in the Boath house in the past). We struggled to find the building, it was very rustic inside and cold and the menu was very small and hard to understand, portions were tiny and expensive and un inspired! Deserts menu didn't have much to pick from so, we had to skip it. The staff didn't say anything when we mentioned it was our 10th wedding anniversary (other places congratulate you or bring something special to the table) and we'd reserved a table, they just left us to find a table. Didn't recieve a warm welcome from staff. More for posh ladies who like to lunch. Sorry to say we won't be back, we'll miss eating at the Boath house, garden cafe isn't the same. Confused image is it a expensive fine dining or a cafe eating experience. Place had gone downhill.

Awful Comms about being closed! Beware! Nothing on website, nothing on Instagram, nothing even in the car park when you arrived. Nothing when you try and book, and no answer on the telephone. We planned a day around going here. Was supposedly open but just one chef there who wasn't particularly apologetic! I never bother leaving a review if we haven't got in somewhere but a rural location means people will need to travel so Comms has to be better than this!

We hired the Kale Yard for our wedding in September 2021. We are absolutely delighted that we chose it as our venue. Communication with the venue leading up to our day was always excellent, giving us real peace of mind. The venue itself is stunning. The relaxed atmosphere combined with the beautiful walled garden and grounds of Boath House make it an ideal small wedding venue. Our guests raved about the food, many commented that it was the best food they have had at a wedding. The service on the day from the Kale Yard team was flawless. There is a real attention to detail in everything that they do. We can’t recommend them more highly.

GO! Excellent lunch in a sublime setting. The weekend Pizzas went down a treat - my Halibut was perfectly cooked and melded beautifully with the accompaniments. The homemade cider was very dry, but worked with my dish and the addition of the home made elder flower cordial sweetened it towards the end (ask for some concentrate in a separate glass, it works really well!). The deserts were top notch.

having visited the Kale yard many times and organised group meals we were disappointed with tonights experience. Pizza average alas too dry, no chilli oil, and mothers shock at sorting out bones in her salmon pizza - waiter was a bit damp; "shouldn't be bones but one near knows! "Additional charge of one pound for 5 tiny slices of chilli as there was no chilli oil! Owners were not there tonite. Personally I would have replaced the salmon pizza and certainly not charged for the chilli's! Maybe it was an off night...haven't given up and will try again.

An off-shoot of the renowned Boath House restaurant, in a more informal, casual setting. It has its own menu, heavily focussed on seasonal produce from the kitchen garden, frequently decided at the last minute only after a check of the garden. Don't expect a fixed menu, expect something different and delightful every time. In warmer weather done alfresco or simply enjoy a coffee in the walled garden.

We had our wedding here in November and it was simply magical! We booked 12 months in advance so my dealings were mostly with Chloe, who was so relaxed about everything it put us at ease, nothing seemed too much trouble for her. Once the weekend came around it Daniel who was the absolute star of the weekend - just wow!! We hired the whole venue for the weekend and he was literally everywhere all weekend, ensuing everything was running smoothly and making us feel like a King and Queen. Graham was also our MC and he, like Daniel, was on hand to support the smooth running of our weekend. I don't think our weekend would have been as amazing as it was if it wasn't for them, they are a fantastic and extremely hard working team. As for the food, well, simply exceptional! We had so many compliments about the quality of the food. I really can't thank Chloe, Daniel, Graham and the rest of the small but mighty team at The Loch Ness Country House Hotel for making our wedding dream come true. We truly had the most magical weekend. My only regret is that we can't do it all again next year!

Right in 'the middle of nowhere' is definitely somewhere to go! Actually a beautiful part of the world - right next to 'The Bridge Across The Atlantic' and with an amazing history - hence the name meaning 'House Of Trousers'! On top of all this - great food and great service too. Can recommend highly.

I really wanted this to be great but in the end I just did not sleep well. The bed was very uncomfortable, and pillows were horrible square foam. The hotel is amazing, and I am sure it costs a lot to keep such a beautiful hotel but when 8 hours of the day is spent sleeping (the whole point of a hotel I think) I is missing some key elements. Outside of town so getting to other food is a bit of a task. The food was good but was missing something that just left be short of amazed. Second night we went to down and had a great meal.
