Table booked for 3.30pm ... Placed an order for starters & mains to be told there is a waiting time of 1 hour for starters so cancelled starters ... Food then arrived within 15 minutes !! ... So then ordered desserts, again to be told there is a 1 hour wait, so ordered anyway, & guess what arrived within 15 minutes again ... Total lack of communication between the Kitchen & bar staff ... The food was hot & pretty good & the guy delivering the food was very friendly ... One irritating issue is why can't you cook a fried egg that isn't like a Frisbee??

Mixed grill was very good, but of a wait, 30 mins but was worth it

Lovely welcoming pub in idyllic spot with warm and happy atmosphere. Food was very good value for money, presented well and tasty to eat. Our group had a mixture from the main menu, child's menu and Sunday roast menu. All was enjoyed and plates were cleared. Staff were friendly, helpful and kept us up to date with food order. You can see the team work well together to create and maintain what they have built. The place was also very, very clean, including the toilets and the decor was cosy and up to date. Will certainly be returning.

Great atmosphere with lots of friendly staff. Good value for money and good choice of food including vegetarian options and good choice on children’s menu. Longer wait on food but told about it before ordering and understandable with the weather but food arrived well ahead of predicted time and they rushed the children’s food through. Great service.

We had a long journey down to Wallingford on Mother’s Day and had a lovely warm welcome to the Boat House. The staff were really attentive & worked so hard under the pressure of the big day. The food was excellent. I would highly recommend this pub and we look forward to returning again in the summer. Well done Boat House

Friendliest staff you could ask for!! We came on a busy sunny lunchtime and had a small wait for food but the staff were amazing and let us know that they had a small kitchen with a lot of orders. Not a problem when sitting in the sunshine with an ice cold drink by the river 🤩🤩

I came today with 4 friends on a busy lunchtime. We all enjoyed our seniors meal. There were only 2 serving but they did an amazing job with a smile.

Booked a table a week in advance. Arrived 15 minutes early for the booking and was told that my table had been given away to someone else. I’d booked this for my 79 year old mum as it was her birthday. This ruined her night and her birthday surprise. Absolutely appalling. No apology from the establishment either. I couldn’t give no stars but would have done if the option had been available. Thanks very much for ruining my mums birthday, especially as she lost her husband 2 weeks ago. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Thank you for a very pleasant and accommodating evening. The staff were delightful and the selection of lagers were exemplary. A thoroughly well done operation conducted by all involved. Reminiscent of George Orwell’s vision of “The Moon Under Water”, this struck me as the ‘Platonic Public House’. Thank you to all involved.

I come here now and then when driving through Wallingford, such a lovely pub especially since the refurb. The staff are always really welcoming and polite, especially a shoutout to Dylan and Evie who have served me and my partner a few times now! Couldn’t recommend this place more if you are in the area!

On Sunday the 9th we came on about 2pm for a Sunday roast with our children and the food and atmosphere was great, especially the bar boy who took our order. He is a star in your team. It's wonderful that you have refurbished this place, it looks really nice and cozy ❤️

Great atmosphere, always warm & cosy. The staff are very friendly. The girl's and I love a trip to the Boat House on Friday's for £10.00 bottles of Prosecco.

Nice place but got overcharged so ended up paying £9.30 for a half pint (£2.80) and a small coke (£3.95) so make it make sense. Asked for a half pint twice, guess they don't really care what you ask for they will over charge you anyways. When questioned about it they didn't seem to care at all. Won't be going back

Marie and martin were very helpful and accomadating to us! We ordered food and it was there in 15 minutes with excellent service!!! The drinks were good too, especially the fireball! I have booked in for new years eve!!

The boathouse was busy and thriving on what is obviously a popular place to be on a friday night! We were greeted by a friendly team behind the bar. We found a table and ordered food via the app. The food come within 15minutes. I had katsu chicken curry which was delicious and a good size, it was cooked perfectly. A member of the team Dillon offered us table service with the following drinks. An overall excellent experience and could not rate highly enough!

First time visiting the Boat House, but will definitley be back. Service was great and staff were so helpful especially with my food intolerance questions.

Came for last minute food around 8pm on a busy night. Staff were working hard, all were very friendly and efficient. Plenty of seating, decor was stylish, toilets clean. I Really enjoyed the fish and chips, and the deals were a steal! You would not think the Staff were under pressure they were all polite, chatty and very welcoming!

Just got back from my wifes birthday meet with our family..food amazing...staff fantastic and as for the manageress well so polite and professional..thankyou to you and your team for making us so welcome and as for the mixed grill well just superb👌👌👌

Food was ok, it came with large waits in between the arrival of people's mains (not between starters and mains just between other members of the party's mains). Gluten free options were poor. Only 2 onion rings with a burger and the seasonal veg consist of peas, carrots and broccoli which was swimming in water. Shame had such good potential. Drinks didn't show up until the starter had already arrived.

Had Christmas dinner. The place is great but my steak was awful. Hard and tasteless even though it was medium rare.

Booked for 25 for a family christmas get together staff we're great food was amazing pub was clean and welcoming would definitely recommend and book again

Had a Sunday roast today & I'm sorry to say it was disgusting 🫣 meat was soggy & slimmy (turkey) potatoes was frozen & needed a bit longer in the oven, they were powdery. Veg was raw, cauliflower cheese was not cheese it was milk. I can honestly say the worst roast of my life. Staff are lovely though.

Went to watch Rugby. Not too full good atmosphere. Food came quick after ordering on the app. Friendly staff

We came for lunch in August, yes. Had to wait for an hour for our food. Asked for ice cream for dessert for our daughter and was told by the lady behind the bar it was another hour wait! For ice cream?! What a joke... We could not believe it. The location is great, though...

The Boathouse team went above and beyond today to help me out. I was with my young daughter feeding the ducks with sweetcorn from a can and my daughter accidentally knocked the can into the river! I felt really guilty so went to The Boathouse to ask them if they had a net and the manager came out with his fishing net and rod and retrieved the can for me ❤️ The manager then gave me a surplus cooked breakfast that had been ordered by mistake so I also had a lovely breakfast! The staff were friendly and the location is lovely. Thank you very much!

Recently refurbished this Green King pub offers a good range of pub grub at reasonable prices. Staff were excellent on our visit in Oct 2024.

It took more than a hour for food to arrive after ordering. The place itself was lovely, really nicely decorated.

Excellent pub. Really warm and friendly atmosphere. This is a sports pub but the sports isn't the be all and end all that it is in some lesser pubs. Everyone is made to feel comfortable and welcome and the service is great. French fries weren't to our personal taste but the manager said we could swap for any other potato product instead next time.

A nice simple pub with great views. No matter how busy they are food is always quick and tasty.

Have given four stars as this pub is in a lovely spot on the river. Staff are friendly. Next to no vegan food, which is a disappointment.

First time here, very nice pub ,nice to sit outside in the sun by the river, will definitely go back again when next here when visiting family.

Absolutely fantastic staff and service brilliant myself and my assistant dog was most welcome. Would definitely recommend this place to my friends.

I just have to mention that when I was ordering the food, I asked for the oven chips option and was told that I could only have these if I had an allergy ! Otherwise this is a lovely pub in an idyllic setting by the River Thames.

Bunk fest weekend. Great outside area for the bands. Plenty of seating all by the river. Best venue for acts and customers, when the weathers good. We didn't eat here, drank and watched the bands.

Best live music around throughout all bunkfest festivals, staff working hard to keep up but they are stars in my book . Thank you all for makeing it happend awesome weekend

Lovely setting by the river. Food took nearly and hour to be served, but they were very busy and it would be told that there would be a wait. Some of the staff were very friendly .

Beautiful place to spend the day for free!!

Arrived at the boat house to enjoy some food, people taking orders behind the bar messed everything up. In the end to be told over an hour to wait after queing for 30 mins , I cancelled our food and ordered our daughter an ice cream 35 mins wait , ordered drinks the young lady could not even make a bitter shandy without using 2x pint glasses to make 1 pint of shandy and to top it off the glass was filthy, and I told her, so she poured it from the dirty glass in to a clean pint glass and gave it to me. I was shocked and there was a big que,I understand that you were busy we got told to come to you as we have been highly recommended by our friends , would we come back yes if you offered us a compermentry food voucher . I never ever complained, but my daughter was upset, and my wife , please make it work there, 1. Somebody takes drink orders. 2. Someone takes food orders only . 3. Someone does the app. 4. Just get it right, big mess today , a d I know you can do it. Many thanks Richard Simmons.

Fantastic pub in a wonderful location next to the river. Staff were super helpful and accommodating, booking us in as a large group at the last minute due to "rain stopping play" for a planned family picnic. Great range of tasty food, easy for kids and even coped with the cockerpoo! Would definitely recommend!

Not great. 40 minute wait for small kids breakfast and a bacon sandwich. Food has black bits from a dirty grill, no butter offered for "toasted" bread, then when brought out butter was solid hard and couldn't spread or melt on floppy bread. Must be a new chef or something as it used to be quite good. Shame.

Good food, Steak and Ale pie and chicken and ham pie, and a lasagne all really nice. Decent pint of Guinness too. Decor is lovely, staff are very friendly and efficient. All in all a good call in, not having been for a while but will definitely be back again. Thank you to all staff including kitchen for a relaxing lunch time

Beautiful location on the banks of the River Thames. The pub is exactly what you'd expect from any chain pub serving cheap drinks, sports on multiple televisions, quick meals & cigarette smoke wafting into the almost pointless non-smoking area. The staff are friendly & efficient, the facilities are clean & well maintained, the food was tasty. The food ordering app doesn't allow you to check ingredients or remove an item from your order e.g.. remove tomato from a burger, but that's a reflection on the company not meeting customer needs, not the pub itself, which we couldn't fault. On the whole a good experience and very likely to visit again.

Nice location but food and cocktails weren't that great. The katsu chicken was basically chip shop curry sauce and bland chicken, the hunters chicken was dry and the "creamy" mash was dry too and most likely due to being under heat lamps for far too long. One of our food orders came out before the drinks despite being ordered pretty much as soon as we sat down. Their mojitos were shockingly bad, one had a manky mint leaf in it and didn't taste much of a mojito either like it was made by a newbie and the ciders were almost flat. Stayed for one and left after eating because we wasn't impressed much but the location was nice except for having a boat hire right next to the tables, takes away the niceness of the view.

Again this pubs service was way below expectations of a prime spot establishment. Not enough staff created long queues at the bar where 2 staff were expected to serve those queuing for both drinks and food and prepare drinks for those ordering on line. Food was taking in excess of an hour to be served. Tables not being cleared. Sickness was the reason given, but being a Greene King run pub you would expect Management to manage should events. But no doubt their bottom line showed good returns so do they care?? I mentioned above, again, this was the same scenario 12m ago so no lessons learned

The pub is right on the river. Has recently had a lovely refurb. It is the most beautiful setting. The food is amazing and staff and service outstanding. Dog friendly too. Could not ask for more. 😊

While visiting wallingford one of my pals brought me over to the boathouse. Left a good First impression when my server ‘Jonny’ sorted our drinks and food pretty quick. (For a greene king, the standard is above the norm and is worth another visit)

Came to The Boathouse today with the grandchildren after a lovely day on the river. Place looks amazing, staff were great, we promised the young ones we would sit by the river as they've never done this before... Drinks came out quickly, while we choosing what we would eat sadly a group of 6 at one table and a couple of others all lite up cigarettes , not pleasant so we left. You really need a smoking area away from seating area.

Food, service and staff lovely. Great location on the Thames by Wallingford Bridge. Can't fault it in anyway.

A picture perfect pub sitting besides the river Thames. A very warm and friendly welcome was received. I had the lasagne. It was lovely. The pub is clean and tidy and probably has the cleanest pub toilet I’ve ever seen / used. If you like good food served well, in a warm and pleasing atmosphere, and did I mention it’s besides the river and the town bridge, then The Boat House at Hungerford is for you The town also has historic buildings a nice market place, amongst many other attractions.

My partner and booked in here this evening to celebrate our 6 year anniversary in the place we met. On arriving and seeing the new refurb I was instantly wowed by the new ambience and decor. It’s beautiful and perfect in keeping of the riverside location. It wasn’t overly packed but still busy to give a lovely atmosphere. Unbeknown to us Monday night holds a quiz night which we decided to join in with. We ordered and paid for our meals with ease using the app option. We spoke to a member of staff to ask to join the quiz, and quickly received our game packs ready for some fun. The quiz master was fabulous, entertaining and had some great questions. The food arrived after about 40 mins which considering how busy it seemed, i didn’t feel was bad at all. The food arrived well presented, piping hot and delicious. A good hearty pub grub meal :) the quiz was so enjoyable, and totally made our evening fun and memorable. A special recognition to the lovely and full of life staff member Megan, who even though off duty was the most pleasant and friendly staff member I’ve ever met, she made us feel wholly welcome and definitely inspired us to return again for the quiz night and dinner ( or any other future engagements) :) so, well done everyone at the boat house for making a special night for us absolutely perfect! Thank you x
