Blue Monk Nepalese & Indian Restaurant in Bedford

We booked for Valentine's and had a lovely meal. Service was good and the staff went the extra mile for the occasion. Only negative was it took about 5 minutes for us to be seated to our table for our 7:30 reservation, stood waiting in the doorway. Would recommend and will be returning.

Hubby took me for Valentines. Our 1st time there. Will certainly never go back!! We were there for over 2 hours for a starter & main, purely because it took so long for our food to be served. Asked if we wanted poppadoms when we got seated, then had to ask for them about 20 mins later. Main course took forever to be served. When complained to who 'seemed' to be in charge, got told 'its Valentines, we're busy'!! Been many other places for Valentines & had an excellent service

Food was delicious. Driver was polite and spoke English and wasn’t rude. Something that seems to be a rarity with JustEat at the moment.

Nice food, nice evening out for my birthday

Visited this lovely restaurant on Saturday night with my partner. Had to wait a very short time for our table due to being very busy , however this was no big deal at all sat in a comfortable area with a drink. The meal was simply fantastic very well presented and flavored well. We tried some dishes away from the “normal” Asian fare and were thoroughly pleased. It was very busy in the restaurant but the seating areas are well structured for that intimate feeling rather than on top of each other this along with the interesting decor created a wonderful atmosphere. We look forward to coming back again in the future.

I ordered a Delivery from Blue Monk for the first time over Christmas. It was probably the best curry I have ever had. I usually find food a lot better when you eat in, so after that, we will be booking a table later this month for a proper sit down meal. Amazing quality and great service. Could not fault it and I look forward to visiting in person!

very bad taste, bad experience

Just had about the 30th takeaway from Blue Monk. It’s just so good! About 50 Indian restaurants in Bedford and I just keep coming back to Blue Monk. Chetinad Chicken, the daal, sag paneer. Naga Chicken, the naan bread and garlic rice… all fabulous. Lovely place to go to eat out too. Friendly staff and good atmosphere

We order pretty regularly from blue monk. This time the food was a rare disappointment. The Chettinad chicken is usually wonderful and spicy, and the tarka dhal usually has great texture. For this order the tarka dhal was very watery and lacked flavour. The Chettinad chicken was bland. We love blue monk and hopefully next time they will be back on form.

After hearing such good things about this place, we thought why not give them a try. But sadly, really disappointing. I asked my balti to made without onions, which they did. But there was just no actual flavour to the dish at all, very bland and meh. My husband’s mixed grill also was dry and he didn’t enjoy it at all. Think we’ll stick to our usual place, sadly won’t be rushing to order again here.

Lovely food, nice atmosphere, busy busy!

The staff were very friendly. Good environment. Food taste is not up to the mark. Expensive compared to other places and disappointed with quantity received for the price.

3rd time here and just amazing once again. I got the onion bhaji to start which were crisp, flavourful and delicious! For main I got the special kakaao and that was lamb and chicken tikka pieces with king prawn in a flavourful spiced sauce with onion and peppers. ***chefs kiss*** My wife had the seekh kebab to start which was lovely and the tandori sirloin steak which was amazingly tasty. (The steak is what I'm having on my next visit) The staff are all very welcoming, polite, courteous and helpful. This is always great every time! We will be coming back.

First time eating here. Booked a table for 7 celebrating two anniversaries. We all had different dishes from vegetarian to lamb. All cooked well with a good selection to choose. Wine was also reasonably priced along with excellent service.

Craving something different, we decided to try Blue Monk. We absolutely loved the wood lined walls and ceiling. There were also cute knickknacks throughout the restaurant. Overall, the theme was cozy and warm. Service was efficient and friendly. We ordered the lamb momo and duck for appetizers. Both were well seasoned and cooked. Our entrees were also delicious. Unfortunately, their dessert menu was not available. We were looking forward to trying the coconut and Ferrero Rocher desserts.

The chicken dish I ordered contained no chicken was actually a veg option. And the samosas looked undercooked and definitely under seasoned! The biryani was nice but not what I ordered (no chicken).

We always order from Blue Monk because we can rely on hot, fresh food beautifully flavoured. They never disappoint.

Called in here at the Bedford River Festival after a recommendation from a friend. Just wanting a simple lunch. The decor service and food in particular, was excellent Our chicken Shaslick and Dopiaza were tasty and generous. Naan bread, vegetables and salad were superb. All very affordable priced ! Will hopefully be coming back soon.

I ordered momo as a starter, which was good. For the main course, I ordered chicken monk chow chow noodles, described as cooked with soy sauce. However, it came as turmeric noodles. When I asked for a change, they claimed it was their style but agreed to make a "normal" one. After a 15-20 minute wait, they served the same thing with spicy version instead of the less-turmeric one I requested. Frustrated, I took it home as takeaway. Upon opening, I found it full of oil and turmeric. I've never seen noodles with soy sauce containing so much turmeric. The service was poor, and I can't recommend this place.

**Awful Service - Avoid!** The service was terrible, with staff showing complete indifference to complaints on food and as well lack common courtesy . The food was disappointing and bland. Additionally, there was a noticeable bias in how certain customers were treated. Save yourself the hassle and stay away!

The peshwari nan was too sweet and the dishes were a little too oily/greasy

Great food at decent price, lots of good options and all came out really quickly, there was a slight mixup with our drinks that was quickly rectified as well and then didn't charge for the wrong drink thwt was given and then left with us.

Probably the most underwhelming Indian meal we’ve ever had. 😔 Dupiaza was full of peppers which I’ve never had in any Dupiaza I’ve had before. Onion Bhaji was ‘stale’ - or not crispy either way 3 small balls for £4 very disappointing. Massively overpriced as most takeaways are these days.

Absolutely amazing atmosphere. The food is out of this world. Came here for our monthly date night and we were served by the tremendous Marbz (look out for him when you visit and ask him for recommendations) He suggested a great choice for our main and allowed us to customize it to make it spicier. We had the best time and would totally recommend it to anyone

Absolute power house of an indian, I travel a lot for work so indian restaurants get regular visits from memory the Naan, onion Bhjais , hot main all felt like it was home cooked with a restaurant touch. I'm back next year and will 💯 be back. For a place that's not been open lojg they're doing RIGHT!!

The food was terrible. Perhaps the worst version of Nepalese food. I am a Nepalese and I can assure you that there is no authenticity in the food, it is run by Bangladeshis hence the terrible food taste. I ended up having stomach aches because of the food quality. The owner/manager one piece of a character, he started sending me abusive messages for my reviews, please see the photo. Reminded me of Amy and Shamy's episode of Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares. I had to call Uber eats and report this incident. Hope they did take the appropriate actions. (P.S. Since the review I have been getting threatening messages from the owners. Thugs they are)

The ambience and decor was beautiful. We were sat next near the door which wasn't ideal as we didn't get to experience the full ambience. Being Nepalese, I wanted to experience the zen feeling. The, staff were polite, albeit abit rushed as it was a busy evening and seemed to hurry us out once we'd eaten. Food however was lovely, well presented and full of flavour. Perhaps a takeaway next time to avoid the bustle.

Ordered a chicken masala and tasted like a korma . The garlic naan was plain and hard all over except the middle which was fluffy and had the smallest amount of garlic. The onion bhajis were far too greasy

Food was 15 mins later than advised on delivery app and the delivery driver who works for BM was dismissive and rude when I advised him if this fact. The food was only just warm and could have tasted nice if it was delivered in time but it was almost cold on eating. This is the second time I have had barely warm food from Blue Monk as I thought I would give them a second chance. The attitude of their own delivery driver was arrogant and just saying ‘no’ then walking off is unacceptable. I won’t be going to Blue Monk for a takeaway again and certainly not dining in the restaurant.

Great find, took some customer out and really enjoyed the food and especially the service, they couldn't do enough, as I spent so much the took the starters.off the bill, didn't even ask. Will definitely go back

The first Time that I've been, and I found it a very pleasant experience. The food was excellent, and the service was very good.

Lovely food as per usual, portion sizes could be more as literally just 8 small pieces of chicken in a whole tub of Korma, and now only 3 onion bhajis where there use to be 4. The delivery driver was quick and very polite.

Very busy and booking essential. despite the crowd service was good as they had a lot of staff. excellent food and a menu that contained some unusual items as well as the tried and tested. Definitely moved to my goto place for a curry in Bedford.

I was a regular every week customer, i waited over an hour and a half for my food, i rung the restarante to ask where my food was. i got told that they was to busy to ‘deal with me” and that someone would call me the following day to discuss a way we can resolve the matter as i was important to them, The call never came!! i wont be recomending or using again. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE and clearly dont care about losing regular customers 👍🏽
