I've been to Blue Jasmine several times over the years and had nothing but positive things to say. Unfortunately since it has changed hands very little of what made it special has remained. The exceptional service, incredible food & sparkling atmosphere have been replaced by a team which is clearly trying hard but not living up to the standards of the past. The new menu is certainly cheaper, but still a long way from cheap. The portions are very small for ‘mains’ and you’d be better off considering them as small tapas plates. It strikes me that the new concept would probably work if it was its own thing, but it feels like it’s ‘pretending’ to be Blue Jasmine.

Warning! This is NOT the amazing Blue Jasmine you think it is! It’s recently changed hands (2 weeks ago) and we were surprised and shocked by our visit tonight! There is nothing similar here to the Blue Jasmine with its beautifully presented food and impeccable service. The new owners have turned it into Asian “tapas”. In other words, charging you exorbitant prices for tiny dishes you can get as main courses in most Chinese restaurants. The food is now average with average presentation which could almost be out of the freezer. We were totally disappointed as we used to frequent Blue Jasmine for special occasions and we were very very disappointed on our last visit especially as were not warned it had changed hands and the whole thing was very different. We gave the staff a bit of leeway as they were all new but they were totally understaffed and there was a good level of disorganisation. It maybe that these are teething problems and that it’s early days as they develop their menu (which didn’t have much choice for a tapas menu) and I do hope they’re planning on improving as I think we’ve lost out on one of our favourite places to go for those special occasions!

I visited Blue Jasmine the other day, expecting a fine dining experience worthy of its old reputation. What I got instead was a real-life episode of Kitchen Nightmares. The restaurant has completely changed ownership and concept, but instead of being upfront about it, they’ve kept the old reviews and photos online like bait on a hook. Spoiler alert: the reality doesn’t just fall short—it crashes and burns. Let’s start with the basics. The menus were so dirty they felt like props from a restaurant-themed horror movie. Then came the food, which was laughably bad. Tiny portions, bland flavors, and presentation that looked like it had been thrown together during a power cut. The ribs were particularly special—they tasted like they’d been microwaved straight from a freezer bag, rubbery and tragic. The rest of the dishes were just as uninspired, as if the kitchen was playing a game of “How Low Can You Go?” The service? A comedy of errors. Props to the staff for trying, but it felt like they’d been left to steer the ship while the management went off on holiday. I spent the night playing hide-and-seek with the servers just to order drinks or get the table cleared. Despite the restaurant being quiet, it felt like the team was drowning in a sea of chaos with no lifeboat in sight. A message to the management: Are you actually steering this ship, or just hoping no one notices the iceberg ahead? Keeping the old reviews and photos online is deceitful, and you’re not fooling anyone who steps through the door. Your staff is trying their best, but without direction and proper training, they’re being set up to fail. The food? It doesn’t just fail to meet expectations—it crushes them under the weight of disappointment. If this is your idea of a ‘new concept,’ let me help—it’s as sturdy as a house of cards in a windstorm, and it’s not just ‘not for everyone’—it’s not for anyone. I came expecting fine dining and left feeling scammed. This isn’t just a downgrade—it’s a disaster. I won’t be returning, and I suggest others avoid it unless you enjoy overpriced mediocrity served with a side of frustration. One star, and that’s solely for the staff who somehow managed to keep going while the management clearly doesn’t know which way is up. Blue Jasmine? More like Blue Titanic.

Meal for 2 on Saturday Service is special Chalblis by the glass perfect, Violet ocean(?) Cocktail delicious For main: chicken in garlic/ginger and 'green sea good curry' the curry moderately hot, fantastic sea food, 1 bowl of jasmine rice and broccoli to share, we were full, but still found place for Pearl of the Orient desert, just delicious! Amongst some of the best restaurants. Wonderful.

We stayed at the Harbour Hotel and walked 100 steps out the front door to this restaurant. Stay there and eat here. We would have had the duck and pancake app as a meal for 2 every day, had we not found this place on our last. Really exceptional, with the kindest service. Work a trip on its own!

Really disappointed at the service, we were offered some dishes ‘on the house’ to try having already ordered what we wanted. We then didn’t get half of our order and were charged for the two dishes ‘on the house’ when questioned they removed one of the dishes from the bill on account we had eaten one, but not one mention for the items we had ordered. Three of us had dinner this evening at Blue Jasmine in Southampton Ocean Village. For our main courses we shared dishes placed in the middle of the table. My second helping of the Percik chicken had a long black hair entangled in a piece of meat. It was embedded in the food and there is no chance that it could have belonged to one of us. We all stopped eating at that point, two of us leaving food on our plates and with a significant amount of the prawn noodle dish left uneaten in the serving bowl as we had now lost our appetites. As the waitress came to clear the table I quietly mentioned to her about the hair. She immediately called the manager. He came, asked in which part of the meal I had found the hair then removed the offending plate and took it to the kitchen for inspection. He did not apologise and never returned with an explanation. When we were presented with the bill there was still no apology or even acknowledgement of the fact that this had happened. My husband paid the bill in its entirety as our guest suffers from anxiety and we did not wish to create any upset for her. As we left my husband stayed behind and told the manager that he was disappointed that he had never returned to the table having inspected the plate, didn’t apologise and hadn’t even removed the dish from our bill. His response was that the food had been on the table for 30 minutes (more a reflection of the slow service) and we had not highlighted it earlier. My husband explained that it was my second helping of the dish and we could not predict at what stage in eating the food that I would find the hair. His inference was clear that he thought we were somehow trying it on. My husband also pointed out that we had not had so much as an apology. The manager maintained he apologised at the table, but all three of us are clear there was absolutely no apology. How a business deals with problems when they arise says a huge amount about how they view their customers. We will never return.

Great attention to detail in food presentation and each bite was delectable. Great combinations of flavours speaking to this being a superb fusion restaurant. Would not hesitate to highly recommend this superb restaurant. We will be back!

Third time we have been here over the past 3 years. The standard is always really high and hasn’t slid. For starters I had soft shelled crab - crispiest I’ve ever had, and then Persic Chicken and my wife had the beef in Merlot. It was all fantastic. We had green beans as a side dish and it was so delicious I could have just had a plate of that as a main. Just as important to the quality of the food is the high standard of service. I asked our waiter about quite a lot of the ingredients I hadn’t heard of and he described all of them and had clearly tried them. Love this restaurant- we keep it for special occasions but I’m starting to think we should change our definition of special so we go there more often…

Really disappointed. Paid 216 pounds for 2 people. Service charge automatically added on. We ordered 2 Chinese new year set menus - really disappointed. Pork ribs flavourless. As a main dish 2 tiny pork ribs per person. Three starters. Again flavourless. Dumplings plain. None of it tasted like it was freshly prepared. Very disappointed to pay 216 and leave the meal hungry. Was not expecting to have to share every plate when ordering our own set menu each. Was unfortunately one of the worst dining experience of our lives. Over priced and without flavour. On a positive note the service was good and pudding was acceptable. Good ambiance. But would really advise others to avoid this place.

Birthday Celebration in March at Blue Jasmine. Thank you to the team for looking after us. Thank you Daren for being such a great host and We absolutely love you 😍. Honestly this menu is well thought out and every dish you try, makes you feel like you are visiting paradise at every mouthful. The executive chef is a genius! What we had: Kerabu Octopus Salad Jasmine salted Chicken Crispy Squid w/ Jasmine butter & oatmeal Ying Yang prawn Sarawak black pepper roasted duck and pancake w/ hawthorn jelly Sashimi Canadian wild bluefin tuna w/ oscietra caviar, kerabu avocado dip, crispy lotus cracker and kizume wasabi. The menu is absolutely gorgeous and I can't wait to come back.

Realistic Review. It was nice. Pleasant. Certainly not worth £70 per head. Decor was beautiful, and this is supposed to be a high end restaurant situated near the Harbour Hotel. Service was good. Staff appear new and inexperienced- but we all need to start somewhere so that wasn't my biggest issue. I love Asian fusion cuisine but this lacked something. The food just didn't set it apart enough to equate to the price. As an example, I had a king prawn starter that was doused in exactly the same sauce served with the prawn crackers. The starter was £9 - it needed to be a different sauce for that price. I'm genuinely surprised by the positive reviews its had so far so I'm hoping our experience was just a one off. But I can't see myself going back.

We have been meaning to visit this restaurant for a while as it looks quite high end from outside. The decor is great. Nice entrance and bar area. What was disappointing was the food and value for money. This place charges top end prices (£47-£22 for a main. Cocktails c£15) however the flavours and cookery and did not match the pricing. Service was ok but you can tell like other establishments they are having to hire inexperienced staff to fill the gaps. Pork belly starter wasnt good, neither was the bbq vegan duck main. Honey chicken was good but not worth £22. Overall bill was £150 for two courses (inc 2 sides) and one cocktail for 2 people. Maybe they were having an off day but it was a saturday night at 8pm and the place was half empty, if that tells you anything. Personally would not recommend.

First visit...Nice cocktails. Food was lovely and beautifully presented. Hubby was a bit disappointed as he'd ordered the ribeye and got pork belly...but he was hungry so accepted as it was. Service was very good and our orders came out quickly A very enjoyable treat! Second visit this evening in 10 months! Took our family who are here from Australia. They really enjoyed the food and the setting. The service was great. It was a little bit noisy due to a large group next to us but once they'd left we enjoyed the ambience alot more!

Not sure where to start here given everything was perfect: - fantastic service: our waiter knew the menu really well and was able to advise perfectly on what dishes suited someone with a particular food intolerance - every single dish was very tasty and cooked to perfection - the venue and area are stunning, just by the marina overlooking the waterfront - prices were actually just right given the high-end standard of the restaurant

What appalling customer service. One star for the quality of food, one star for the quality of the cocktails but I cannot give anymore due to the way we have been treated this evening. We were a party of 4. We ordered starters, mains and sides. The starters arrived at varying times. Then the sides arrived which were cold and only 2 of our mains. This was the point we were told to eat ours as the other 2 mains would be delayed by a significant amount. We immediately felt awkward eating while others had to wait, the sides still cold. We raised this with the waiter who at this point told us they have a 'sharing concept' and food does arrive at different times. At no point did anyone tell us about this concept. Nowhere in the menu did it mention this concept. Noone on the surrounding tables to us appeared to have a sharing concept. We had clearly been lied to by the waiter who was trying to cover up the delay in our food. A delay which meant by the time the final 2 meals came out the first two of our group had already finished. We came out for a special meal together and we did not eat together. We raised how unhappy we were we'd been lied to with the manager. The manager THEN tried to tell us we could not have discount off the meal because all the food had been served and there was no problem. It was as if he hadn't even listened and was smirking at us. His attitude was just unacceptable as well. We have never had such appalling customer service. We do not appreciate being lied to, being smirked at, no real apology being given. If the staff had owned up to the mistake of the significantly delayed food there would not have been a problem. But they didn't. They chose to lie, to not accept responsibility and to continue to be well below par. Edit post manager response: We were NOT told when we were seated or when we placed our order that food would arrive at different times due to a sharing concept. This also does not explain why the waiter apologised to us for the significant delay in 2 of the mains and that the people already served should eat theirs now before it goes cold. In restaurants where there is actually a sharing concept you are always told this and recommended how many dishes to have. Yet again extremely disappointed the management continues to lie in their response to my review. I can never recommend this restaurant.

Lovely spot with amazing Southeast asian fusion dishes. Saying this as someone who lived in the region for most of my life, I'm quite impressed. Wonderful view alongside the ocean port. The course menu with champagne was scrumptious. Service is a bit slow at times despite the restaurant being empty that day but not too bad. Exquisite decor inside and very spacious. Beautiful Restaurant with friendly attentive staff. We went for a meal for our Wedding Anniversary and it was a real treat. A restaurant that is perfect for special occasions, it is quite expensive! The duck with pancakes is INCREDIBLE!!!! The sesame dust that is served with it along with the hawthorn jelly is delicious. The crab and mushroom noodle were delicious. We did ask for a gap of time between our duck course and main to one of the servers, but it appeared this wasn't communicated as our mains arrived quickly afterwards. The pork belly starter and soya chicken main was disappointing. Unfortunately the £22 price tag on the chicken didn't suit what was delivered.

Had a midweek lunch here. The food was fabulous! Service was great although the waiter was very serious and hardly talked. The restaurant is very large which meant it felt quiet, as there were only a few customers; but I imagine it would be a great atmosphere on a busy Friday evening. The background piano music made it feel a little more intimate. We had several dishes including the signature crispy duck dish - all were lovely. Puddings were super too! We paid for nearby parking which was not expensive and within easy walking distance. I'm sure we will be back.

Great take on some well known Asian dishes. The Sarawak duck was fantastic, 10/10 dish. Scallops were great. Beef in black bean was good. Service was first class. Attentive and enthusiastic. Only slight negative was the food went cold very quickly as the plates weren't warmed up. Overall, still a fantastic meal.

Absolutely love it here! Never disappoints! Previously, I had the Hampshire rib eye beef and was cooked perfectly. This time I had the Wild Kulak prawn in royal supreme stock and squid ink noodle and the prawn is possibly the best I have ever had. It was huge almost like a lobster. Want to come back to try more! Refused to cook steak anything but medium rare not 5 stars. Confusion with items being delivered to the table 3 times which we did not order. Pork with wasabi is good. Staff nice apart from the chef even sent us the steak after we told the manager to cancel it. Come her only is you eat medium rare steak if not go somewhere else.

Disappointing service after booking a month ago for mothers day not told wouldn't have set Sunday menu and one week before ring to say have different menu at silly prices lady on telephone rude and unhelpful would not return after this situation Added after reply from owner There was no swearing and if you need to lie because of your poor organisational skills your more then welcome to just shows the caliber of you and your team my main problem is only telling me the weekend before mother's day when booking was booked well in advance and you should of made people aware of your changes before as mother's day happens every year

Calamari flavoured chewing gum? I’d consider myself a fan of most chewing gum flavours, mint - obviously, strawberry - occasionally, lemon - delicious, but squid flavour? Count me out. I ordered the calamari as my main, it turned out to be an overly sweet, overly chewy, bush-tucker trial. I relayed this to the staff and asked to change my order. I was then told to share my friends meal. Unfortunately my friend was not Jesus and could not duplicate bread and fish for me to eat. I went hungry. Even at MCDonalds when you ask for a burger to be remade, you get that as bare minimum service. Apparently not at this fine dining establishment however. Unfortunate tasting food even more unfortunate service.

This place was perfect. From our arrival at the restaurant, staff were really helpful and attentive. The food was amazing! The scollop starter was the best thing I’ve eaten in a long time! The duck is cooked perfectly! Looking forward to our next visit.

Hands down the best food, drink and dining experience in Southampton. It comes at a price tag, but I personally would rather eat out less often and eat here for special occasions. In the summer, definitely eat on the terrace, it's a beautiful spot across from the marina.

VERY DISAPPOINTED Come here for Valentine’s Day , ordered the crab and most of it was batter. I asked for it done again and they said it would be the same (obviously not cooked from scratch) then I ordered the ribeye beef. I asked for medium rare and it come out. Very rare also cold which didn’t complement the rest of the meal. If you have high standards like myself, then you won’t find this complaint fussy, especially when you are paying decent money… when walking to the restaurant it looks beautiful . It’s a shame the foods NOT :(

Absolutely stunningly lovely food. It's expensive, but not as expensive as similar (or worse) restaurants in London. Definitely a must try for a fine dining aficionados. Huge shrimps are delicious. Non alcoholic gin cocktails are great too.

As a Greek I can guarantee that the food is excellent. Very reasonably-priced. We took the shared-meal for two with extra chips and pita bread, some food remained and the staff kindly packed it for us. The service, staff, music and atmosphere was amazing as well!

We came yesterday, Husband had to send latte back as it was cold, once ordered (did the kids first) we waited around 30-40 minutes so kids were getting bored. I don't think I've ever drank my hot cuppa tea before any meal arrival. My Egg baguette just tasted of pepper and the coleslaw was full of onion. Kids enjoyed their meals. Hubby's bacon way over done. It closes at 3pm food arrived at 2.40pm, we were in there at 1.55pm, We felt like we had to rush eating as only had 20 minutes! Kids are 4, 3 and 1! As soon as we paid lights went off. Literally couldn't wait until we were out the door. Lovely christmas atmosphere though. Probably won't be back.
