Stayed here for 1 night on valentines night, they had a Caribbean nite and I must saw it was brill, the jerk chicken, curry goat was amazing.. And it is so cheap.. A must if your a couple looking for a quick night away. £90 for a couple with a 3 course meal, entertainment and the hotel for the night... We had a bar tab and it was only £60 for all out drinks.. I have eaten here on many occaisins. I have been treated roughlty by the manager, had my milk for coffee brought in its plastic container, fish so over cooked thet the batter was falling into pieces. That is just the start of my complaints. I must be unlucky because locals rate this place. Personally I will never step over its door again.

When we arrived there were several tables finishing their meals but nobody was waiting to be served.. We were seating very close to the doors on a tiny table and it was freezing. We were ignored by the waiting staff and had to tell someone we were ready to order after about 20 minutes. When our meals EVENTUALLY arrived, the plates were half full of garnish - the portion sizes are very poor for the prices you are charged!!! My partner's chips were not cooked and our food was cold. We could not find a member of staff to complain - we paid a hefty bill for a very poor meal.

We have been frequenting Blanco's for Sunday lunch for quite some time now and always opt for the 2 course lunch. A few weeks ago we were booked in to sit downstairs as the upstairs restaurant was full which proved to be a better experience, so much so that the last few times I have asked to sit downstairs for the 2 course lunch. Today however it was just my mother and I for lunch and thought it would be quieter to have a table upstairs, it wasn't extremely busy there, but we waited and waited over 20 minues for our order to be taken and I requested a dessert with custard but was told that there was none, that all the desserts were cold with the 2 course dinner,as they don't have a kitchen upstairs... and yet they serve hot dinners upstairs...? each time we've sat downstairs I've been served a pudding and custard. As there was nothing suitable for me on the dessert menu I opted for a floater coffee. Then there was another 20 minute or so wait until the lunch was finally served, to be honest I was so fed up of the waiting time by now that I almost got up and left but had my elderly mother to think about. Dinner was very nice, but we were not offered any sauces. The coffee that was served to me was a regular coffee and was eventually replaced by the floater.. I then went to pay the bill and was told it was £43-for 2 lunches, no drinks - ???? I paid the correct amount and was not offered a receipt so had to ask for one. The last time we were there was 2 weeks ago and sat downstairs and on that occasion we also waited 45 minutes for our lunch. Blanco's has been one of our favourite venues for Sunday lunch for quite a while, but after the last two disappointing experiences we will not be in a hurry to go back there which is a shame as the food is really good.

Came for Sunday lunch with my boyfriend and another couple and we sat down and waited over an hour for anyone to give us a menu, then after waiting another 40 minutes we had to ask for someone to take our order. The girl that did take our order was very short and a little rude, didn't even smile. Food was ok, nothing special, and one of the plates came without roast potatoes on and they didn't give us any cranberry sauce for our turkey. There seemed to be a lot of people walking round not doing anything. Service as a whole was slow and poor. Was my first time here after hearing good things but I won't be returning based on this visit.

We love this place when we visit Port Talbot. It is quite smart inside, spacious, with subdued lighting and a large bar area. The menu is extensive with everything from fish to steaks and the portions are huge! My mother (aged 93) has a big chunky portion of battered cod with well-cooked chips and loves it. The mains are always offered with veg and four different types of potato (fried, jacket, boiled, sauteed) even with lasagne. The Welsh like to eat a big lunch! The starters include tempura prawns which are delicious, but I absolutely adore the Swansea market mushrooms with cheese, lavabread and cockles which can also be had as a main. The puddings are plentiful and huge and Icecream or cream (or both) is offered with everything. It is always busy and the staff are friendly and efficient. The value is tremendous. We have paid for full meals and drinks for six people and had change from £80.The ambience is lively - we are usually there at lunchtime when there are a lot of very smart older people having a good time as well as business people etc. There is a bright, large conservatory and we have seen it occupied by wedding parties and a Welsh rugby team. This is a great place if you want excellent, fresh food at amazing prices in comfortable surroundings. i love it.

Took my other half here for his birthday. First time. Very big and stylish place. Very nice staff. Food came quickly and the place was heaving. I had lamb shank and he had pork. Both came with mash. Now I'm not one for salt I will admit, but even the two ladies opposite us were complaining about how salty the potatoes were. I ate none of it after the first encounter. The pork chops were VERY well done and my lamb shank was minute. The starters we had werent much better. No I won't b going back

We are (or were) regular customers at the restaurant and often arranged to meet family and friends here for food and get together. We had a few incidents of poor service and attitude from staff which we put down to maybe off day which happens now and then. Now it seems every day is an off day we will NOT return. We arranged a table for 10, seated and left yes left! After waiting for what seem an eternity and seeing other tables and parties being seated after us and having there orders taken before us I had to approach the bar to ask for a drinks order to be taken, not a good start but it may be a blip? When I had to ask the manager a second time for the food order to be taken our evening began to take a turn for the worse. All I can say is that the manager should be at the forefront of superior customer service and cascade this down to the staff, in this case the restaurant manager did not cut the mustard and had no desire to please his customers but would rather side with his miserable waitress who needs to be trained on mmmm! um! smiling would be a perfect place to start! I do not intend on wasting anymore of my time writing this review but felt obligated to advise others as to our experience. Such a shame how poorly appointed and lack sure staff can spoil a business and customers evening.

Had a less than average meal here today. You may offer a wide selection of potatoes to go with your food but its certainly the cheapest you can find ! The potatoes as well as the veg are clearly straight out of a tin and absolutely tasteless and ruins the meat or fish that you have selected. The chips are cold and again tasteless. It's a shame because the decor of the restaurant has been done well and you expect more. I've heard the expression been used to describe lunches there before but actually find that quite insulting to schools ! When your paying good money you need to shape things up a lot more !

We had the misfortune to go here yesterday (1-6-14) for sunday lunch as it was my wifes birthday. Our table was booked for 2pm. We were told to go and wait in the lounge and it was 2.35pm before we were seated. Drinks orders were taken when we sat down and these took 20mins to finally arrive!. Starters were ordered and these were served in around 15mins, but it took 25 mins to clear away from after we had finished them! A lukewarm basic dinner was then plonked down in front of us consisting of meat. 1 roast potato peas carrotts and new potatoes. Someone eventually brought some cauliflower cheese out but this was stone cold and inedible. The staff member who initially sat us down and took our starters order was lovely. Very happy and friendly. But the rest were scowling, ignorant and unfriendly. Will not be going back and would hope that if the owners read this, and the other reviews then some staff/management training in dealing with the public is a must! Id also advise others to eat elsewhere!

Had a lovely Sunday Lunch at Blancos Port Talbot yesterday, just a huge shame the Customer Service wasn't of the same standard from the manager Julie. The nice young waitress asked if we requested desserts, after we had finished our meals, and only 2 of us did. She explained that we would be charged for 3 courses whether we had a dessert or not...sounds a bit crazy...we thought so too, when my daughter questioned this, the young girl asked for a more experienced waitress to come over and explain to us. This waitress was very polite at all times and explained that if we only wanted 2 courses then we should have requested this when booking and we would have been seated upstairs and not in the restaurant. My daughter who made the booking said that this wasn't explain to her at the time, and how do you know whether your gonna fancy a dessert or not until you have had your starter/lunch. I also explained that we were not aware of this procedure (which is ridiculous anyway) The waitress then said she would go to see her manager and see what she could do. This is when Julie the manager came abruptly over with a face like thunder, stating she had taken the booking off my daughter, and had fully explained the 'two course, three course rule'- when myself and my daughter both attempted to reason with her, she actually stood and argued continuously with us both. Yes guys ...a manager arguing with customers...can you believe it? Surely the way to handle the situation would have to say .... Im sorry if I didnt explain myself properly on the phone, or you misunderstood, and as a good will gesture we will charge you for whatever course you have had today, but please be aware of how the seating arrangements are when you book in the future. We were absolutely disgusted with her attitude, so much so that I went to reception to cancel my booking for both tribute nights and two nights stay at the hotel over the Valentines weekend, only to be told that the tickets were non-refundable (something else I wasn't told at the time of booking and payment) On leaving, my daughter approached the other manager on duty ( tall, young guy with dark hair) and explained all that had happened, he was full of apologies, and when I told him that I had cancelled our Valentine weekend there too, he asked if we would reconsider. I told him I had cancelled purely and simply because of Julies disgusting attitude. He promised to see if he could get me a refund of my £100 paid for the tickets for both nights (so watch this space on that one) This manager had clearly taken his Customer Care NVQ and passed with flying colours...pity the same cant be said about Julie!!! Granted Blancos wont go bankrupt over a couple of hundred pounds they will lose from my cancellation, but in these tough times, businesses thrive on good publicity, and treating the customer with the utmost of respect is paramount to the good name of the establishment. If my family and myself were drunken louts causing mayhem in the place, then maybe her behavior would have been expected and justified, and just to add insult to injury, we were charged £8.50 for 1 scoop of vanilla ice-cream that my 2yr old grandson had (which they did have the decency to remove off the bill) It is more than 24hrs since this incident and I have waiting until now, to see if any member of staff have contacted me either on my land line or mobile (to which they have both)to offer any further apology or a full refund on my Valentine weekend tickets ....but until now, I have heard nothing!!!!! Is Blancos such a wealth establishment that they do not need or want local custom. I have never been treated so appallingly in a restaurant in my life. My family and I have on numerous occasions enjoyed a beautiful Sunday lunch at Afan Tavern and had always had the best of welcome, and been treated with the utmost respect and nothing is too much trouble for the staff there, so maybe the good old local pub is the place to dine!!!!!!

They cannot cope when busy whether planned or unexpected. Management have no idea how to manage. Food is the best average.....it should be better. It's even worse service and quality since the extension. The quality of food and service was substandard to say the very least. Ii prefer the quality choice on menu.....don't bother....they have no idea how to cook duck by any stretch of the imagination. Even when asked for steak knife to saw through it I still could not cut it... I did complain very politely and patiently...no one came back to us.... Too little staff.....I would not have accepted a replacement as two other guests had the most simplistic choice on a menu....absolutely cold and the accompaniments were served in time with your main part of the dish.... It's is the most substandard places with a very don't care attitude....it's clear the serving staff(not the chefs, if they were that passionate and good they would never have allowed the duck or fish meals to have left kitchen) the serving staff had to keep apologising....so whomever owns or think they know how to run a successful restaurant ....you don't!! You don't deserve a 1 rating for food. Definitely not returning again....an absolute disgrace calling yourselves a restaurant.....day of night....

The food was tasty and hot, and the waitresses were excellent, however, as we finished the first course, the main meal appeared, then, as my daughter put her knife and fork together, the waitresses reappeared and whipped the dishes away and offered us desserts. We sat down to eat at 1pm and were driving away at 1.45pm, that's with 3 courses and 2 drinks. Basically if you could give 5 stars for speed dining this is the place to go. We go to Blanco's regularly on a sunday for dinner, and well the food is so fresh, quality is great and the portion sizes are the best. There is a set menu for sunday dinner, two courses you usually eat in the dining room upstairs, and three courses is downstairs, this changes if it is a special day, like Easter Sunday, Mother's Day, etc, as there is only 3 courses served these days.It does get really busy, so suggest you book early. I have dietary requirements of dairy free, and I mention this when I book it so that I can have the relevant vegetables and food dairy free. as with the desserts they are usually all creamy, so they give me fresh fruit salad, and I order this at the time of booking the table so they can have it already done for me. We also ask for a seating table that can cater for a disabled person in wheelchair, as it is hard when you go to a restaurant and the chairs are all close together that you have to squeeze past or ask people to move to let us past, which is not good for them to be disturbed during dinner, and not good for the person to have to ask this. However when we book we always ask for a table in a corner or in the outskirts of the room so that there is space for the wheelchair and not disturbing any one else. The only disappointment I have is that the staff are not interactive, probably because they are busy, but even so, they dont recognise or acknowledge regulars, as much as other restaurants would. But we still go and enjoy ourselves.

We visited Blanco's hotel to celebrate my wonderful grandfathers 80th birthday. We booked to see a beegee's tribute act and have food. When arriving we were taken to our table which was places in the back corner of the room by the bar. There were pillars in our way of seeing the band or anyone else for that matter. When phoning to book the tribute night it was asked that we would be put in view of the band as my 80 year old grandfather and 83 year old grandmother would not be able to stand to watch the show. I asked Glynn McQueen, who clearly thought of himself as an important man, if there was any way my grandparents could be moved and that we had no idea we would be placed in a different area of the room than everyone else. He arrogantly replied that his staff would of made me aware of it on the phone that we would be placed there. So much for 'the customer is always right'. An apology would of set my mind as ease but that was not coming from him. This put a downer on the whole night and I can guarantee my family will not be visiting again and putting money in his pocket. On the plus side the younger bar boys were very funny and friendly! Maybe they should be replacing Glynn McQueen!

Ordered Scampi, chips, mushy peas, curry sauce and a side salad. Scampi was ok not the best I’ve had. Mushy peas had been over microwaved they were dryer than a camels ring piece in the Sahara desert, also flattened down to make it look like more was on the plate. Chips were cold from where the food had been standing awaiting the microwave ping. Curry sauce was surprisingly very nice. Side salad had nice chopped fresh tomatoes but the cucumber was so thinly sliced Kate Moss could have hid behind it. Ordered a pint of cider and asked for ice arrived with no ice, melted maybe one of 2 ways. 1. Over microwaved 2. The camel ate it. Atmosphere here today in spoons is grim. More life in a morgue, at least it’s sunny out.

Very crowded and noisy as everyone seated in the same area despite the restaurant not being that busy. Had to request waitress to take our drinks /food order. Mushy peas instead of garden peas on fish/chips. Not pleasant and very oily with lots of grease on plate and fish making it soggy. Could not eat it; manager did offer replacement or alternative but it had made me feel ill. No extra mushrooms despite the waitress making note if request which highlighted the chef not reading the orders properly. Staff lovely but quality of meal was not up to standard and couldn’t recommend it again. We would not return. No discount was offered off the bill.
