Came here for lunch and retuned for dinner. Kids got the kids meals and me and the wife had a fish and chips between us. Cooked Fresh to order.

We came here the other month. Tried it and fell in love with the food. Very clean premises. Love the homemade fish cakes too.

Freshly cooked menu all to order. We waitied around 7 mins in total. We were greeted with staff and we were asked what our order was. Soon as it was ready (around 4-5 mins) we were alerted and told the team member what we would like with our meals. Cheese and onion patties (homemade btw) are to die for. Definitely the best chip shop in the area

Not what it used to be- this place used to be the best chippy you’d find anywhere- even better than some of the coastal chippies. I’ve returned to Consett after being away for just shy of half a year and the quality has dropped massively. Numerous hairs in my food and soggy chips. Have only had good things to say about this chippy, given how lovely the owners were before I left Consett I wonder if there’s been a change in ownership as I can’t imagine the previous owners letting standards slip

5* customer service, young lad was helpful and friendly, the cod and chips was the best I’ve had. Would recommend and will be back.

The young lad over charged me for our food. I asked him about it, and ‘apparently’ I ordered it wrong. He took my money give me my chance and walked off. Not the best experience as it was our first time we have gone to this chip shop in at least a year. Food was 5* Customer service was 2*

First time in Consett, first time at this chippy. Staff were moody, very slow service, food was over cooked and VERY over priced. Boney fish, overcooked chips and far too expensive for what it is. Would not return again.

Opted for 6 fish bites at £1.10 each (£6.60),together with large chips at £2.30,(£8.90) in total for a lunch time carry out.The chips were fine but the 6 small strips of fish bites were very greasey and extremely poor value for money.I believe the problem is that in the haste to serve as many people as quickly as possible,the fish is hardly allowed to drain at all. The result is a wrapping paper saturated with oil and not at all appetising,but the big problem is the very poor value for money,better by far to opt for the normal cod at £4.90,way more fish for your money.Having watched previous customers being served,I wished I had chosen this option.Within 5 mins drive,several other shops easily beat this one for quality and value.

Huge portions of chips. Cheese patties and fishcakes best we've ever had. Pizzas and kebab meat always good. Fish cooked to order. What's not to like?

This is my local chips shop and how lucky I am, the staff are always friendly and the food is always nice, the fish is cooked to order so you know it's fresh and have I mentioned the portion sizes are HUGE.

I was really hungry and looking forward to my meal but ultimately felt let down. An earlier reviewer mentioned that they had a soggy fish and mine was like this too with underdone batter. Surely it’s not hard to fry a fish. The chips were reasonable but even a small portion (£1.80) was far too large. Unless you have someone to share them with they end up in the bin as you can’t possibly eat them; very wasteful. NB cash only when I went.

Lovely fresh food and the owner is very friendly and always makes an effort to talk to his customers.

This takeaway Cook’s your fish fresh as you order it as you can have your choice of coatings. The fish is always really good and good value for the size of the fish. My son has had pizza here before and he said it was nice. They also do burgers and kebabs. The kebabs are also delish. The prices are good and the service for ‘fresh’ food is acceptable. Well worth a visit.

I've been a regular here for several years and have never been disappointed. The portions are enormous. Give them a try. You also get to choose how you want your fish when you order. Try with curry sauce on your chips mm mmmmm

First time I have been here and no complaints. 3 of us had fish, chips and mushy peas and all tasted great. From the looks of the pizzas we'll be trying them next time we're up that way.

the fish is cooked in terrible oil it made my friend sick so much so he never eaten another since ,and you get way to many chips .

I came a cross this fish and chip shop after searching for some were to eat with the family. The staff was extremely friendly. We had large fish and chips and small chips and half fish for the kids the lady gave us trays and forks to eat with couldn't do enough for me. The portion sizes were massive and only cost £18.50 which is a bargin.The best fish and chips I have tasted for a long time. It's a must to try this place.

We regularly get our fish and chips here. Chose to buy a takeout on good Friday. Fast service when ordering over the phone. Food cooked fresh and tasted great. We will always go here rather than other local establishments for fish and chips. Very friendly. Kitchen very clean too.

Best fish and chips. Allways get loads of chips enough to serve 2 people. Me and my partner share fish and chips there's more than enough for 2 people. Kebabs and pizzas are really good as well.

This is my go to fish and chip shop. It's busy, efficient and the staff are friendly. The food is nice for what it is. I'm not a fan of this type of food but this place is as good as any for this type of food.

This chip shop is situated at 113 Durham road, not as stated on listing. Also the phone number displayed is incorrect.Chips were lovely as was the service. Unfortunately batter was soggy and fish previously frozen.

Visited here on a Friday evening about 8pm, the fish was cooked fresh to order, the chips were also fresh and the portion sizes big! One portion of chips would easily feed two people. Will use again.

The food served in this chippy is great, every time that we have been.It is noticeably clean. The staff are friendly and will cook fish to your taste. It is by far and away the best chippy around.I try not to visit too often, but sometimes it's just too tempting.

Come here virtually every week. I prefer breaded fish and now as soon as I enter the shop the fryer looks over and with a thumbs up my fish is busy getting cooked without having to wait until it is my turn. It's a popular place so by the time my fish is cooked I'm just getting to the front of the queue. You can also get unbattered or u breaded fish here to, if you are more health conscious, although it's not displayed on their sign.

Freshly cooked fish - lots of options as to how it's cooked - and a mountain of well cooked chips. Perfect for a hungry family. We lived by the sea for a long time and honestly think that we never got Fish & chips as good as these.

Called in when in a hurry a couple of weeks ago.The fish cakes had just come out of the fryer and i can honestly say they were the best i have ever had. Light crispy and so tasty.Would have given 5 stars but next time i called in wernt as fresh but not reaĺly a prob as still tasty.Will certainly go back again......great chippy...

I have used this Chippy for over a year now as I have always had great meals there, however the meal that I had tonight was absolutely DISGUSTING, The fish was battered to death, looked like a big piece of fish however is was more like a stickle back with enough batter to coat a shoal of Cod, the fish had to be scraped from the batter!!! The chips tasted as if they had been there for a week and were very, very Luke warm verging on cold, the saving grace was the Kebab meat was was as good as ever. I was set to post a picture on here but my wife stopped me! A total crap meal paid with good money.

Totally fresh! Best fish and chips in CONSETT! The queue can be quite long but they take your order why you wait! Worth every penny and the fish is huge!
