Always fresh and first class. Great value too !

Oil was very old making everything taste burnt and looked black. Very greasy food, battered sausage was burnt.

i asked for 2 large fish and chips, with carton of curry sauce and 2 cans of pop.i never got my curry sauce and was charged for it, and the fish was the smallest soggy fish iv ever been served in my life, to top it off the chips were hard and undercooked for over 20 pounds.. absolutely horrendous

Brilliant service and great vegan options. Vegan cheese leek and ham pie and andouille seitan sausage were highlights. Such good value, will be back.

Been here plenty of times whilst in the area over the years and allways been very nice! Not many fish and chips get a 5 star off me but this place consistently gives it.

Went here yesterday especially for the vegan menu but the bloke cooked the vegan options I ordered in with the fish! What’s the point in that? He said the man hand makes all the vegan options which is brilliant but then does that same bloke know they are getting fried in with the fish and other non-vegan items?! Very very disappointed. Steer clear if it’s the vegan foods you are ordering.

I was delighted to find this vegan-friendly chippy in a small village in the North-East. Wonderful chips and loads of different options for vegans. I finally settled on a vegan cheese, ham and leed pie, which was reasonably priced and tasty. Highly recommended and much appreciated.

The vegan menus great but it isn’t cooked in a dedicated fryer and is cooked with the meat products so not really vegan unfortunately I have chosen not to eat the food that I purchased.

Best fish and chips in the area

Chips burnt and yet somehow raw inside. Fish was soggy, the batter is nasty. Cheesy chips came with cold hard cheese on so not melted like you would expect. Rubbish chippy wouldn't recommend.

So cool to find vegan options in a little village. Staff so nice and discuss the products with you. (On the Happy Cow app)

The large fish was neither large nor tasty and the chips were undercooked. The saving grace was the light and crispy batter that the fish was wrapped in.

Really lovely chip shop with a huge range of vegan options

Fish was beautifully cooked with lovely light batter but chips were a bit greasy and had gone cold by the time we got home to our holiday cottage which is only a 5 min drive away. Close at 7.30pm on Sat which is earlier than we are used to.

Went because it was advertised as vegan friendly and it was amazing. The vegan choices are fantastic. They were also the best tasting chips EVER. Staff were so friendly and helpful well worth any detour to visit.

Great local fish and chips shop. It's what every village should have. The "boys" were polite and even joked with my kids. Great tasting food, chips were/are amazing and cod was also good too. Haven't tried anything else yet but I shall in the very near future.

Fantastic vegan chippy, brilliant menu choice

No other chip shop I know has such an extensive list of vegetarian and vegan options. Admittedly that isn’t what everyone is looking for in a chip shop, but if it is, then you won’t find better anywhere than the Lanchester Fish Bar, absolutely superb. Very friendly staff too.

Very very good "old school" fish shop which also serves vegan food, most of which is made on premises. Very good avacado and peanut burger which I would have never normally tried but I'm glad I did.

Just enjoyed lovely fish and chips from here which were delivered free of charge !! Where do you get that these days ! Food was nice and hot and arrived within 20 min will definitely have it again soon . Also the price was very reasonable. Thank you .

It was my first time there, the service was fantastic, the chips we're amazing....big and tasty. Perfect size portion, used proper mozzarella cheese. Home made garlic was outstanding. I would highly recommend this chippy.

Brilliant, especially for vegetarians. Just tried the all new avacado, peanut and onion burger, yum! Spicy and the flavours work so well. Be going back for more. Very friendy and so worth going out of my way for a take away.

Bought chips here for the first time today. They looked as if been fried in old oil and refried again. Tasted awful and ended up in the nearest bin..

Really bad. Fish had no taste and batter was soggy. Total waste of £6.20. Won't be going back.

The fish I had – had been spiced up with what I guess was a “lemon herb” dressing. So it was not your typical Cod from your local chippy. It was different and at first I wasn’t sure if I liked it. Then after I finished – I decided I liked it. It was different. The batter was very light; unlike the heavy-hard concrete-like stuff you get normally from Chip shops. The fish was also fresh - judging by that glistening-shine that a fresh Cod has. The chips were Maris Piper; good enough – but nothing out of the ordinary. I hesitate to give it an average since it’s not your normal Chippy by the looks of my order; neither is it bad – since I did enjoy the meal. The only decider will be the next order I’ll place: which won’t be for a long while yet. It’s got a “traditional” feel to it, but whether or not a “lemony-herb” taste to Cod is traditional – judge for yourselves.

This is the best chip shop I've ever been to, they have a great selection for everybody and the vegan haggis is amazing.

Staying with friends just out of Lanchester. Last minute decision (I.e. Late!!) for tea, hugely accommodating, very pleasant guy serving, lovely, lovely, lovely 😊😍😘

Good variety on menu and very tasty fish and chips. Even do bolognese and chips which my daughter really enjoys regularly.

Ya que este es el único "fish and chips" en nuestro pueblo, nos habría utilizado el pescado Bar en varias ocasiones. El servicio es amable y eficiente, pero la calidad del pescado y patatas fritas pueden variar de una gran oferta. También, en mi opinión, la comida es bastante cara para lo que te dan.

Nice food just a little expensive for fish and chips

Hemos tenido una cena de pescado desde aquí algunas veces como mi esposa trabaja en el pueblo y les pone para llevar a casa. Las patatas fritas son siempre encantadoras, bien preparado y justo. Pescado el pescado y empanadas son deliciosas y fresco a la orden. Incluso hacer un pequeño pensionistas de bacalao, que es genial para cuando no quieres una enorme porción.

Bien sé bien que es el único fish and chips pero eso es al lado de Lanchester el punto.

Las patatas fritas eran cocidas y tenía un regusto persistente, repugnante. Simplemente no podríamos estómago. Creo que debe haber sido hecho en grasa vieja y eran tan grasienta.

Look no further if you want great tasting food and fabulous service. This business is an asset to the village and worth any detour to call in.

been here a few times for fish and chips to make sure the first time wasn't a one off, each time the fish has been bland and taste less and the mushy peas are that watered down they are taste less aswell, save your money and go elsewhere for some proper tastey fish, chips and mushy peas.

Opened the box to what were clearly last nights chips recooked. They were burnt, soggy and dripping in grease. I has no time to return to the fish bar so after a few mouthfuls they went in the bin.
