Black Sheep Coffee in Peterborough

Nice, modern coffee shop, but service was awful:( That was Peterborough Black Sheep Coffee.

Today, I took my family out for hot chocolate and waffles, and the food and drinks were flawless. The two young ladies and the young gentleman working there were incredibly hardworking, doing their best to serve all the customers efficiently. While waiting at our table (231, table 17), I noticed how overwhelmed they were due to the sheer number of guests, which left them with no time to clean the dining area. I decided to help tidy up out of empathy for their situation. I would like to urge the café owner to reconsider the shift planning, as expecting only three staff members to serve and manage hundreds of guests is unreasonable. Adding at least two more employees—one dedicated to maintaining cleanliness and another to assist with service—would help prevent burnout and maintain service quality. Displaying bins outside near the tables would help the staff manage cleaning more efficiently, as customers would be encouraged to clear their own waste. Additionally, having a trolley for collecting dirty dishes would be greatly appreciated and would support the team in maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. I come here almost everyday for a Cappucino, its usually very freindly, good service, good quality coffee.

Went to visit Peterborough for a day and I went to have my favourite pumpkin spicy capuccino! It was delicious , exactly the way how I like. Time was super friendly and adorable 🥰 thank you guys for the hard work that you always do!

Sandwich sucks it's either burnt or soggy, drinks are delivered cold even a basic cup of tea. Staff are rude especially the moody one with glasses and quite tall. Hopefully this place get closed down sooner rather than later.

Bit late, however when i arrived at black sheep coffee, i had lovely blonde lad assist me with the screens when i needed some guidance :) i believe i ordered the robusta latte which was amazing. Thank you black sheep

Used to love this coffee place but the past few weeks the service has been incredibly slow. I would understand if it was staffing issues and totally sympathise as I’ve worked barista jobs myself, but I’ve seen multiple occasions where no matter if it’s 5 people behind the machines or 1, they only seem to concentrate on 1 order at a time, rather than multiple people tackling orders, and it being organised (for example one does iced, one does hot, one does food). Twice now I’ve waited over 25 minutes for an iced latte only, just a basic one that doesn’t need blending, just a shot and milk with ice, while hot drink orders seem to get prioritised no matter how much earlier you ordered. And when you’ve got a finite lunch break and almost have to give up and leave after spending a fiver for a medium iced drink with no cream or special items, it’s not the best!! The staff are nice, and the coffee is good when you get it, but the organisation is growing incredibly poor and service inconsistent. The only plus I can say is when I’ve had waffles, they’re delicious, but I daren’t order them anymore as it’ll make me late for my shift! Real shame.

Came in for a latte and was served by a very helpful employee who took my order as the screens was full it tasted amazing and the latte art was stunning. Would highly recommend going here.

Fourth time to this amazing coffee shop in the heart of Queensgate. Love their coffees and their waffles are to die for, especially the chocolate and strawberry! My daughter had the Iced Strawberry and Cream Matcha and loved every bit of it. With lots of other coffee shops these days, service always feels rushed but the staff here are lovely and friendly and I really felt looked after. Totally recommend.

I visit black sheep coffee in Peterborough almost every morning before I start work, I can’t express how lovely and welcoming each of the staff members are!! I am always made to feel comfortable and satisfied. I love chatting to the staff as they are all extremely kind and friendly. My order is always spot on and I would highly recommend visiting!!! 😊

When passing me and my wife picked up a coffee. My wife had a regular at just over £5 and I had a small at just under £5. The regular was twice the size! The small is terrible value however the regular is pretty good value as the quality is great and what you expect from higher end coffee. But the size of the small is practically an espresso shot size. Apart from this great, but don’t order small!

I come here normally every other day, and i usually order the cheese toastie as it is perfectly cooked and served which gives me a good start to the day. Absolutely recommend 👍👍

I like your coffee as you do the strong blend robusta coffee and the blue volcano blend. Most other chains across the UK get my order correct but this has happened on 2 serperate occasions at the queensgate branch where I've ordered a robusta coffee blend and got given the blue volcano blend. Now if I wanted week coffee I would have selected blue volcano or gone Costa. I'm annoyed as it's just this branch that seem to mess up my order And have coffee granels in my drink. Nice layer at the bottom and not the strong coffee blend I really wanted. Just queensgate so far that have messed it up. I do like the coffee tho I'm just really annoyed from this as it's happened more than once and it's always this branch.

Visited this coffee shop on 09/08/24 on a recommendation from friends and ordered a double espresso and an americano sampling two of the three beans. Really great flavours and definitely kick started my day.

I was in Queensgate today with my 5 children (including 3mo baby). My plan was to get there at 9, do the shopping we needed to do and be home by 10:30 when babys bottle was due). We had finished our shopping and my older children had taken an interest in the life-size, interactive, safari animal display. I could either insist we went home, or find somewhere to help me warm the bottle. Having been in a similar situation a few times before over the years I know that lots of cafes and restaurants will not provide hot water for this purpose. I spotted Black Sheep and having never purchased anything from there before I was apprehensive that they would be able to help. I was fully prepared to pay for a full price coffee in exchange for hot water in a take-away cup, especially as I wasn’t purchasing anything for myself. When I got to the till and asked a barista if she could help me. I explained I was happy to pay for it. She and her male colleague could not have been more helpful, and they refused my offer of payment! We had a light conversation and they were so lovely and personable. They really were, without a doubt second to none of any of the other baristas I’ve encountered at coffee shop chains. I cannot rate Black Sheep enough and I didn’t even get to experience their menu! My partner works in town and I’ve since told him that he is no longer allowed to support any other coffee chain besides Black Sheep, going forward! 😂 Next time we’re in Queensgate, I’ll pop in for a coffee and a bottle

Whilst visiting family in Peterborough I stopped by this new coffee shop that had taken over costa coffee’s old spot. The staff were very helpful and kind enough to give me an extra shot on the house and an ice water. They went the extra mile and I really appreciated that! Every time I visit home I’ll stop by for a quick latte and good service.

Inside a shopping centre but nicely laid out, spotlessly clean and lovely staff. Excellent coffee and my son loves the dragon fruit smoothie- the pinkest drink you have ever seen!

I wanted to try the pistachio latte with cream to give me a boost before work - It was delicious, i would recommend this particular drink and will try a Macha next The whole team were fabulous and really bright so early in the morning Well done girls for a fabulous drink

I’m not sure I can rate this lovely coffee house well enough by the stars given as I feel Limited ! Deserves 10 blimmimg stars Golly! and I rarely ever give reviews ..,but this place !! From… The food, to the ambience, to the very lovely warm baristas They always always get it RIGHT ! And no I’m not exaggerating because I’ve tried another branch elsewhere and they don’t measure up !!! Not even close !! Tried their breakfast wrap today and I was translated to another dimension !sigh Coffee is divine 🥰🥰 And Everything always tastes so so fresh !! My mum made a joke that everything has been freshly harvested that morning ( brought her here as a treat when she visited ) It breaks my heart that they don’t have a drive through and their hours aren’t earlier as this would have been my go to as I dash off to work in the mornings especially for my long commutes 😍😍 I’m going to have to settle for my off days as this is a treat I look forward to Black sheep coffee you truly have LEFT the herd behind !(makes the heart sign on chest !!sigh !) Recently came in for a nice latte and a toastie. The service was great by the lovely staff, the coffee was amazing and the toastie turned out to be a warm and cheesy delight! Will definitely be back for their amazing waffles!

Disappointing Visit - Avoid the Charred Toastie I recently visited Black Sheep Cafe with high hopes for a relaxing lunch. Unfortunately, my experience left a bitter taste in my mouth (quite literally). I ordered a toastie, expecting a warm and cheesy delight. However, what arrived was a charcoal briquette disguised as a sandwich. It was inedible - burnt to a crisp on both sides. Dismissive Service Utterly disappointed, I politely brought the issue to the staff's attention. To my surprise, they offered no apology or solution. They simply stated they "couldn't do anything" about it. This dismissive attitude was the real kicker. A simple "I'm sorry, let's get you a fresh one" would have gone a long way. Skip the Blackened Sheep Instead of a pleasant lunch experience, I was left feeling frustrated and hungry. If you're looking for a cafe that prioritizes customer satisfaction and edible food, I recommend steering clear of Black Sheep Cafe. There are plenty of other cafes in town that will treat you with respect and serve food that isn't a fire hazard.

Absolutely love Black Sheep coffee. Much better than the other chain coffee shops in town. They do great waffles too.

Tried a hot Salt Beef Bagel today - OMG, delicious. Husband & I will now be buying this at every Black Sheep we visit, as we move to Kent soon! Pistachio latte just tops it off ! Great service & cheery staff . Go and visit !

The matcha late was really bad. It wasnt whisked properly it had huge lumps in it which made it bitter and unpleasant. Would not recommend the matcha late

The staff always make me feel welcome here and all smiling and have a chat whilst serving, I'm actually homeless and most places don't make us feel welcome just want us out. Where's black sheep coffee like I say make me feel welcome and comfortable here I rate 10/10 for staff communication and 10/10 for drink quality!!

Meg and Mattie were lovely, I could tell they made my food and burger with love and happily let me have cream and no ice in my boba :)) 10/10 would come again if theyre on shift, so funny too!

I love this little haven in the middle of the centre. I have visited a few times now and every times has been pleasant. I like that it isn’t a monster-chain plus the food and drink offerings are refreshingly different to the usual standard coffee shop fare. The waffles are my highlight, particularly biscoff with added strawberries and cream. But, there is also smoked salmon bagels, mini pizza as well as the choice to customise your coffee with matcha, turmeric and protein, which I’ve been looking for since I visited Miami and could customise my drink way back in 2010! Finally, we have caught up here in UK, thanks to BSC. Even when I did pick one of the many choices and didn’t like it, the staff kindly added syrup for free and another time advised that the taste of another might be a bit out of the ordinary and if I didn’t like it they would swap for free. All with a smile. To top all that, the staff are very friendly. It was a stark difference to another independent coffee shop I was coldly served at here in Peterborough. I am disabled and without asking they brought my order to the table despite it being a collect counter. I will definitely be back again. And again. :)

This is my favourite place to get coffee in Peterborough city centre. And I have tried a number of different places. The quality of my regular order of latte to go is consistently good with the coffee flavour I like. Ordering through the self-service screens is easy and there is a wide range of food and drinks available to you. You can customise your coffee just how you want it. Service is quick and efficient. Highly recommend.

Some people seem to complain about the service and how it takes longer when its BUSY, I have never had a issue some people are just impatient and want something to moan about.

Honestly this place is so great, the coffee is always lush and staff are super friendly. Although they was busy today and some impatient people, we didn't have to wait long for our coffee. Its such a great addition to Peterborough and we are lucky to have such a great coffeehouse.

I can't fault anything with my experience of Black Sheep Coffee Peterborough. The staff are v friendly, easy to ask if there's a question about the menu or the quick order screens. The drink I order each time always tastes amazing-I don't go anywhere else now! And for a tip-the waffles are freshly made there and soo tasty. Come and support a great business

Inside of the cafe looks rather obscure and definitely needs a deep clean. Despite the place not being busy I had to wait a long time for a coffee and sandwich which then arrived cold. Staff was not too pleasant either. Definitely not going to choose this spot again!

I come to Black Sheep for my morning coffee every time I’m in queensgate & it’s always a lovely experience - the staff are friendly & chatty and really helpful if I have any questions. In love with the Pistachio Latte & their Chai Latte too.

Despite welcoming appearance the actual inside of the coffee shop is absolutely repelling , the same vibe continues when it comes to staff and service, clearly, the management is saving on staff due to my prolonged await for a single coffee (not in rush hours) and also as mentioned the dirty state of the shop. I would recommend to think twice before stepping into this ''coffee shop'' and probably choose any other viable option.

I'm a big fan of specialty coffee, and Peterborough's always failed to serve up anything more than run of the mill, bitter Starbucks/Costa. But, finally, Black Sheep is here with single origin coffee that actually tastes like more than "just coffee". And that makes it a significant step up on the competition, so all good.

Took my wife for a coffee. I had the honey oat and my wife had a soya flat white. They was the best coffees we've ever had. The whole experience was top notch, really friendly staff and wonderful addition to Peterborough that blows Costa Nero and Starbucks out the window

What can I say. I've been a Costa drinker for years and can honestly say I've been converted. I was served by Hannah who was so friendly and was able to make me the perfect coffee. I'm a bit fussy. Will definitely be getting my coffees here from now on. Thank you.

Stopped for coffee, wasn't overly busy, but waited over 15mins for drinks to be made. First and last visit

Popped in for a coffee and breakfast this morning while shopping with my wife. Ordering on the screen was easy and there was a lot of choice, which was great. However, upon ordering, we then waited near on 20 minutes for our order to be made. There was around 7 staff all working in chaos and customers hanging around for an age for their order. I heard multiple people moaning about the delays. One other issue is the tiny area where they place food and drinks to hand to the customer. It’s barely wide enough for a tray, so customers were having to balance their orders to take over to their tables and the staff can only complete one order at a time, between so many staff! After 15 minutes, a young lady at the back of the counter called my name, as my food was ready. But no drinks (black coffee and an orange juice) were handed over, as she was only prepping food. I continued to wait for our drinks, and after another 5 minutes of holding the plates of food, which were getting cold, I asked the team where the drinks were. The coffee had been made and was sitting on the side behind the staff and the bottle of juice was in front of the coffee machine in front of the staff. They handed them to me and then tried to say that they had called my name several times but I hadn’t come forward. This was a blatant lie, as I had been stood there the whole time, 3ft from them and I saw and heard every order they called out! I obviously called the lady out on this lie! I understand that there can be delays at busy periods, and I am fine to wait, even if it takes 20 minutes to heat a wrap, grab a bottle of juice from the fridge and make a black coffee, but to lie to my face and make out that they had done their job right was unacceptable! May I suggest to the management, that some professional training take place at this coffee shop, and maybe some better planning for the customer collection area. As for the food, it was cool when we ate it, but I’m sure it would have tasted better if still warm. The coffee was actually very nice, so at least they got that right!

A few days ago I visited Black Sheep Coffee in Peterborough, I had a good experience in London, but unfortunately I was unpleasantly disappointed, the coffee was cold and the staff without a smile on their faces, as if they were working for punishment. I wanted to use the toilet, but the staff lady said that the owners do not provide toilets for customers. I will definitely not visit this cafe again in the future

I'm new to Black Sheep Coffee and still busy working my way through the drinks menu! It's not the cheapest coffee around but I'll pay a bit more for the better quality stuff, and I like the staff there as they're friendly and helpful.

Absolutely loved the coffee, especially the Blue Volcano latte – a flavor explosion! Kudos to Megan, Mattie, and Mia for sharing the coffee's history. And those Christmas mugs? Pure love! Can't wait to be back for more cozy sips and cheerful vibes!
