Thai green curry is great however this is the second time me and my wife had violent stomach problems after eating from here. Not ordering from here again. Shame as the food was great but does come with severe consequences.

10/10 food was absolutely tasty!! Vanilla tea was yum as well as all the mocktails! I ended up ordering two sets of drinks, thats how amazing it was, if you havnt tried your missing out. I definitely will be visiting again soon.

Went for dinner, food was nice, tables were very close together, busy on a Saturday, we were four adults and a child our bill came to £187, which shocked me considering we only have 3 soft drinks between us, portions were small , had to buy rice or noodles separately. would not go again 😐

Went there last night, we tried a lot of dishes and everything was fantastic! The fish cakes were crispy and flavorful, the Penang curry rich and aromatic, pad Thai was the best noodle I’ve had in a while and the mango sticky rice was the perfect sweet finish. The star of the night was the papaya salad — fresh, spicy, and truly authentic. Great service and a lovely, welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Everything was cooked to perfection. The chicken wings were the best of the appetisers. The mains were flavourful and the noodles were perfectly soft. Dessert was phenomenal, the coconut rice was especially good. Will definitely be going back.

Really good mocktails, first time trying crispy duck which was exceptional all the other dishes were great too. Highly recommend the Satay, fish cakes, Spicy drunken noodles and yellow curry.

We have ordered take away twice and the green curry is exquisite. The only drawback was the lamb chops- very fatty and expensive for what it was.

Love eating at this place but they are just so slow, had to wait 120 mins just for my food ☹️

Salmon Chuchi - 7/10 - this was a good portion, the sauce was very nice. The fish was very nice, although the oil fried tempura plus the rich coconut milk just made it too heavy to eat whole portion. Don't do the tempura I suggest. It's not what it said on the menu. Yam Nua 8/10 - can't go wrong with this dish, and nicely presented, spices worked well. Decor 9/10, I really liked the the feel of the place, the wall is very nice. Pear & Lychee Daquiri - 10/10 don't ever give a 10 but this is brilliant. The service - waiters were attentative and friendly, polite.

Awesome Thai cuisine and nice ambience

Not a great experience. Thai restaurant with smelly chicken in dish and they were ok about it when I complained. I was told it is like that and they cannot do anything about it and walked off. Rice were also very dry and Hardish. Soups weren’t too great and ruined our dinner night. NEVER AGAIN!! as there are other good restaurants including Thai around there and on Woodford avenue.

Black lotus Tai restaurant is the best Restaurant in Gants Hill I’ll ford .amazing place So cozy Decor amazing hospitality and food presentation was too good .We tried Tom yum soup-pla padchai- -Nasi goreng-phad Tai -phad ke mao-Dim sum -black lotus Hors’D…everything was fresh, tasty, and full of flavor. The highlight for me was their authentic dishes and moctail.Pear & lychee Daiquiri.mango passion fruit mojioto.Blue dragon.black lotus moctail Everything was too good The staff were super friendly and made sure we were looked after. I recently dined at Black Lotus in Gants Hill, London, and had a delightful experience. Menu features a variety of authentic Thai dishes, all of which are halal 👌🏽

I've been in that restaurant more then 10 times with my uncle and we'll always gonna go back. They are so lucky to have the best chef👨🏽‍🍳 in London working for them. I ordered Nasi Goreng with beef and it was the best i ever had in my life...taste incredible !!! The staff members are so friendly and polite...amazing guys. The Toilets, Tables area and the entire place is so clean....high level of quality. Well done guys....you're doing an amazing job!

Beautiful spotless restaurant with unauthentic Thai food. The weeping tiger wasn’t weeping (sizzling) but we were after the smelly chicken in the other dishes. The chicken was boiled and had a stale smell which left a not so nice aftertaste. We left most of the chicken stir fry and refused to take the rest home. The waiter confirmed it was because the chicken was boiled. How long does it take to freshly stir fry chicken?? The rest was pretty much unimpressive. Rice was slightly undercooked, soup too sweet, stir fry to salty, sweet chilli sauce was watered down also. Serving sizes were fine.

The food is authentic, tastes amazing and price is very reasonable. We ordered the mixed platter, Singaporean rice, red Thai curry and prawn crackers. The service is also quick.

Me and my friends ventured to Black Lotus after going to the mosque we were given seats the moment we were welcomed into this superb establishment we ordered the mango mojito, strawberry mojito ,lychee and pair daiquiri the wings and the chicken satay all of which were exquisite and a treat to eat all for an incredible price I would like to mention the greatness of the chicken wings as they were glazed in a beautiful sauce and were grilled to perfection black lotus is an incredible restaurant and I recommend everyone to eat here I will definitely be returning.

I am very disappointed on entering this restaurant today, I was upset to see the manager to be hostile towards me and my friend as he said angerly'have you booked,I said did we have to book? Manager was rude and didn't like me for some reason, He then stated to us, leave the restaurant! I would definitely not recommend this restaurant Black Lotus and a manager with an attitude and n o customer service skills abs welcoming guests

Do not go here. Squid starter actually had freezer burns. I could not eat it. Crying Tiger was not sirloin steak, it was a frozen imitation. Luckily my friend paid for dinner 😂 Must say, the service was excellent.

A lovely thia restaurant which was peaceful Sunday late afternoon visit. The service was great, the food was nice. Was hoping to have a green Thai curry option but wasn't on the menu. The menu was reasonably priced and the Tom yam soup was delicious with a powerful kick!

We went for lunch yesterday and I was really looking forward to having mango & sticky rice dessert after our meal but unfortunately was told they do not have it when I went to order. I was so disappointed.

This is the second Thai restaurant in the area that are 5 minutes drive from each other. They are not a competition because Black Lotus has their own local Thai versions of the usual food and also they serve some Singaporean dishes. I ordered Tom yum soup with prawns for starters. This is perhaps the only Tom yum soup I have ever enjoyed. Generous amount of prawns and a deeply flavourful broth. For mains, we tried the goreng dishes. If you like spice then this is it. The service was friendly and we were let in on a house special sauce that is not on the menu! (Ask for dried fish sauce ;-)) I definitely want to try some other dishes on the menu that I have not seen at other restaurants. The interior is calming and the brass cutlery has a great weight to it. I know! Why am I mentioning cutlery! It does make a difference! Trust me. I would recommend for the outside to be more noticeable as this is a little treasure that you would miss if you drove or walked past it.

Fancied Thai food and was looking for somewhere which was fully halal and also had positive reviews. I was very impressed with the food, ambience and service. It's been a while since I have been happy with all 3 points I mentioned and also value for money.i definitely recommending the sharing starters for 2. Customer service was excellent and food came out hot and in a timely manner. Portion size was excellent. The owner came and spoke to us and made us feel very valued. Beautiful Thai Restaurant. Food was well flavoured, hint of their own version. Enjoyed the pad thai nudles with prawns and delicious cheesecake for desert. Pineapple deco was amazing, ask for pineapple checked and prawn dish.

Visited for first time Saturday lunch. Pleasant interior, clean and tidy. Good menu selection with polite service. Food was delivered quickly, well presented and very tasty. Pineapple chicken and prawn rice was particularly good, served in a Pineapple! Excellent dessert and great cocktails. Well priced for high quality food. Recommend as best local Thai.

While the food was okay it wasn’t definitely not Thai - the chicken skewers were probably the closest thing to the region. While they have a 10% optional service charge which they add to your bill - it surely didn’t feel so. There’s no alcohol and the food isn’t what I had hoped for.

I had the pleasure of attending a pre-opening taster session at this restaurant. The decor is meticulously crafted to an exceptionally high standard, with a keen eye for detail. The culinary experience was exquisite, undoubtedly due to the fact that the chef is from Thailand. Every dish I sampled was authentically Thai, reminiscent of my travels in Thailand. This Thai restaurant fills a gap in the market and exceeds expectations. I eagerly anticipate returning to sample more of their offerings. The staff are not only friendly but also seasoned professionals. It's clear that this establishment is poised for success.

Black Lotus is my first time trying Thai food and I must say, I really did enjoy it. I went with close friends on Eid day in a group of 6. Immediately off the bat, the staff are very polite, welcoming and accommodating which is lovely to sea during such a busy time. I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai and Beef Nasi Goreng which were both very lovely dishes to eat. I would say as a critique is maybe the flavour profiles could be a bit stronger, as I prefer a more stronger punchier taste but still a good meal regardless. Good food, good atmosphere and very lovely service. This place will see me again!

The best Thai Halal food restaurant within Gants Hill area. The is the most authentic of thai food options available locally. The food is of very good taste and quality. I highly recommend the mixed starter platter specially the fish cakes, wings and satay chicken. The green curry is always bang on with taste and flavour and satisfies all cravings for a good proper and authentic Thai green curry. Never fails to impress and ticks all the boxes. The rest of the food is also very good. The drinks including mock-tails are also very good and recommended. Highly recommended local thai joint with good food and service. Well done team Black Lotus. I will see you again very soon.

AVOID. Terrible service, Fusion rather than Thai food and crampy restaurant. We were supposed to go to Thai Imperial but they were fully booked so made a reservation at Golden Lotus at 8.20pm and received a confirmation and arrived shortly after. Got seated after asking at least twice as even after getting acknowledged, we were ignored for 5 minutes and I had to go and remind them to be told we are will prepare a table. Got the menus, placed our orders at 8.50pm. The starters came 20min later followed by drinks- I am certain it is supposed to be the other way around. However, after faffing about the main course came at 9.58pm. So, we were in the restaurant for over 1 hour 15 min+. I asked to speak to the manager before the main course arrived and got ignored as no one came. I asked again and a waiter showed up saying “manager is busy so I am here”. I shared my dissatisfaction and disappointment and his responses were “we are busy”, “the guy should not have taken your reservation”, “it is only 1 hour”, “it is normal to wait this long”. I later found out his name was “Jakir”. All in all, would not recommend going here as food was tasteless and not really Thai but a mix of recipes, service was non existent as they were all unqualified waiters, the restaurant is crampy and very noisy. We were offered 1 dessert for a party of 3 at the end but no sincere apology as Jakir was very casual about the inconvenience.

Small restaurant so it got too loud as it was a busy evening. The food took too long to come. Small portions , costly for the quantity. Waiters banging the cutleries, not weary of customers. They all look fed up and exhausted. If you know your Thai food, this is not the place for you. Disappoint awaits. Nice try though. But no.

The restaurant provided outstanding customer service by promptly addressing our request to change the sauce used in the noodles. Not only did they make the change immediately, but they also did so without charging us. Additionally, the chef personally came out to ensure that all of our requests were accommodated. This level of excellence and attention to customer satisfaction truly stood out.

This is a lovely local halal Thai. The staff were very attentive and always asking if we were OK. Initial service to place our order was a little slow but we had time so that didn't worry us. The mocktails are very tasty! The cutlery and plates are absolutely beautiful, great quality and very unique. There is nearby street parking and some pay and display bays on the main road. Only negative is it's a small space but it's not their fault they're so popular! Will definitely visit again ❤️

We went on New Year’s Eve we made a last minute booking and they was able to accommodate us. Customer service was excellent and food was amazing the best Thai food I have had. From start to end everything was just perfect. Highly recommend this place.

If you want authentic thai/Malaysian food - you have to try Black Lotus. Tried it on the off chance last week and we were not disappointed! The Thai green curry was so flavourful - served with coconut infused rice - one of the best I’ve tried. The soup was amazing also. Pad Thai was delicious. And the round off the whole meal - the Thai tea was fantastic! Will definitely be coming back here. Staff are really friendly and the restaurant has a lovely vibe. To top it all off all the meats are HMC/non stunned suppliers. If ur in the area - give this place a go - u won’t be disappointed!

Starter, main course and rice were delicious and one of the best we’ve had compared to other Thai restaurants.. However, the desserts were not as good: the coconut spring rolls were dry and not as tasty as we’ve had on other Thai restaurants.

I went with 3 of my friends for a night out and we enjoyed the food so much. The mojito drinks were so yummy we ended up with two each! Especially the passion fruit one. The staff were very friendly and the chef even came out to meet everyone. This is honestly a lovely place to dine at and I would come again. Thank you for a great experience and excellent food. We ended the night with some Thai tea on the house.

Overall enjoyed the food here but wouldn't say it's the most authentic. For starters ordered Satay Skewers (needed a bit more flavour in my opinion but chicken was nice and soft), Dim Sum and Tom Yum soup were lovely. For mains we ordered Nasi Goreng and Singapore Fried Noodles - both were nice only complaint is they were a bit greasy. In terms of drinks ordered apple juice and blue dragon mocktail which wasn't anything special. They offer free tap water with ice which is great. Unfortunately they didn't have any good desserts - would have liked mango with sticky rice. In total spent £55 including service charge. Atmosphere was good - very family friendly. Hope to return soon.

Lovely decor and ambience. Service and recommendations was great. The food was lovely - six of us all had different things and they were all really tasty. Will go again for sure!

The most expensive and disgusting food ever. The meat smelt awful. We paid £160 and I swear we only had a bite of and left the food on the table. They even had the audacity to have service charges on our bill 🙄 are you even serious? We didn't even eat. Although the food was unbeatable we took the service charges off but gave a tip to the waiter. Will never even go near the place again.
