Black Lion Inn in County Durham

Wow. Just wow. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with a nice hello by a member of staff. We were seated and there was nice music playing in the background. 3 minutes later, the waiters were waiting on us to. We ordered our food and it didn’t take long. It came out to us hot and delicious. Presentation was amazing. Workers were so nice to us. I would like to come here again. I took pictures of the food and the seating area before they closed down for the night. Don’t worry. When we walked in, there was a good amount of happy people.

One of my favourite places to eat. Fantastic food and service and my daughter (6) loves it too. Practically everything can be made gluten-free (except lasagne) and plenty to choose from. Nice comfortable surroundings and clean.

Visited luncj friday. Quiet, pleasant atmosphere. Piped music a little too loud but not especially intrusive. Not sure why its needed at all. £5 for pint of Moretti. The luch for £10 is good value. Includes soup or potatoe skins, selrcted puzza or pasta and a coffee. The stater garlic pizza for £7 is full size an excellent. The bolognese pizza was eccellent. Great service, good food. Considerable improvement on last time.

We had a lovely evening in this place,I had the fillet steak my wife had a pasta dish.Our border collie had a frankfurter,The food was lovely the staff were very good.We were staying in our caravan at Donnewell Farm which is a comfy 15 min walk away.Thank you for a lovely evening bar staff and chef

Called for tea. Small Italian basic menu.

Had a meal here today with a large group of friends. Food was excellent served promptly and hot. The staff were excellent and friendly even though it was 28 degrees and we were all boiling hot!

We have just returned from our evening celebrating our grandson's 8th birthday. Cant believe the fabulous food and service at " Little Sicily" Our grandson had a fantastic night and was made to feel so special. Congratulations to all the staff for making this such a special night. Also to the kitchen staff behind the scene, thank you the food was amazing.

Great food, steaks specials are a MUST

Service is great. Cider and beers spot on. Owners a lovely fella. Will be going again nd again. Really god beer garden out the back with kids play area too so spot on for familys

We are staying at a nearby hotel and wanted food, we chose the black lion as it looked nice from the outside, decent menu, very friendly staff, food was fantastic too..

It now doubles up as a Italian restaurant & a bar. Didn't try the food as we just had a drink but it looked great coming out of the kitchen. A wide variety of drinks are offered. Our visit was spoilt by a loud and abusive group of youngsters though the management did tell them to leave and not to return.

Honestly the best food service I've received in a very long time. All of the staff are amazing, friendly, knowledgeable and happy to chat about the menu and give suggestions. Very family friendly and my 2 year old was very taken with all the staff, who were amazing with him. And the food! Absolutely beautiful, good portion sizes and very reasonably priced. This will definitely be somewhere we visit regularly for family meals, but also amazing for a date night.

Great experience, Sedgefield needed a better priced restaurant as the others charge a fortune for very mediocre food . The staff are so friendly and helpful will be returning very soon

We went here last nigh, very scruffy place with uncleared tables everywhere. After standing at the bar for 10 minutes a women behind the bar said we are only serving on two sides of the bar (four sided square bar) we went to another room where the staff were serving, it was like a Wild West saloon. We left and went to the Pickled Parson and spent our money there.

Love this place, the team are so welcoming and make us feel like family.

Little sicily, caught the meal deal £10 before 5pm The waiter was very friendly . Food was nice good value . Potato skins pasta ice cream or coffee .

Celebrated our granddaughters 17th birthday, excellent meal and very polite and friendly staff. Good selection on menu. Highly recommended.

Former pub, now a restaurant. Very good Italian/Sicilian food. Very busy but we were served quite quickly.

Lovely atmosphere for a Saturday.. Only went for a drink on our way home.. But very nice. Only wish we could have got free WiFi but manager did explain why not free on a Friday and Saturday 😕but wont stop us from visiting again. 😁

Visited the old Black Lion pub in Sedgefield ,reopened at New Year as Little Sicily an Italian restaurant and bar. We went on a Sunday and you can have Sunday lunch, choice of meats and plate comes with meat ,roast and mashed potato, roast parsnip and Yorkshire pudding. The vegetables came separately, cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, carrots. Some of our party chose from the main menu instead of Sunday lunch and had tomato and basil soup, one had vegetable tagliatelle ,other had penne bolognaise. All the food was hot and very tasty. The staff were very friendly and attentive even though they were very busy. Good value for money, we will be back.

Awful awful slow service drinks in plastic cups. Dirty smelly toilets. Second rate drinks .

Terrible, 9:00 Saturday evening 11 people in the place, scruffy, dirty outdated interior, the pool table & jukebox don't work, the toilet is a disgrace. 1 star just because I had a decent pint & the bar staff were present, needs serious money spending on a refurbish.

Great duke box. So many pubs have lost their soul to background supermarket music. This is a pub i feel able to wear my Dr Martens in and my british and proud t shirt!
