The food was amazing but I felt extremely rushed as soon as I walked in. First, I was rushed to sit. Then, I was rushed to order. Once I was eating, the staff kept asking we were and watching us eat. As soon as I paid, my table was being cleaned. I understand it's Valentines Day a d they are trying to capture all the business, but I was a paying customer. It was not a charity I was asking for. Disappointing.

My first time here and it was nice. We sat upstairs and that was ok, but it’s not so pretty. Could be better for sure. Food and service were both good. Potatoes were too big for my liking and the toast could come on the side with butter and jelly. Will visit again.

Went for my birthday brunch and not only was the food very delicious they were fast to get us seated and really good customer service enjoyed it very much, totally recommend!!!

I recently visited this charming restaurant and had an absolutely delightful experience! The star of the meal was undoubtedly the Eggs Benedict—perfectly poached eggs, creamy hollandaise sauce, and a deliciously toasted English muffin. Every bite was pure perfection! But it wasn’t just the Eggs Benedict that impressed me. Everything on the menu looked and tasted amazing. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. If you’re looking for a place with delicious food and great vibes, this is it! I can’t wait to come back and try more dishes. Highly recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Horrible service. Came here for breakfast with friends and family. Service was ok till the food came out. When I received my order it was wrong, so I politely sent it back and you can tell they were upset. I waited a long time to receive my food, by the time they brought it most of the table had already finished eating. And when she finally did bring my food not once did she apologize. She just handed it to me and walked away. We never got refills. Never got asked if we needed anything. She couldn’t even come back to give us our ticket, we had to flag someone down to bring it to us. On top of that we felt like we were constantly being watched, like we were in the wrong for simply sending a plate back that THEY messed up. Horrible service. Mediocre food. Don’t waste your time or money.

Me and my family got the chilaquiles and chicken and waffles and it was delicious. I wanted to give a big thanks to Lucero for helping us and attending to us very fast. We appreciate y’all’s service and the food. Highly recommend.

Looking for something new for brunch, we stumbled upon this place. It was a busy Sunday and it took a while for us to get seated. We sat at their outdoor front patio overlooking Main Street. Our food was great. Excellent pancakes. It is a downtown Mc Allen gem!

I've wanted to dine here for quite some time; I finally ventured out on a very chilly Tuesday afternoon. It was crowded with the sounds of happy friends reuniting. We waited about 15 minutes for a table. Our table of 3 all ordered different things and we were all satisfied with our choices. Since it was crowded, we didn't have anyone checking on us, and we found we needed to grab someone's attention for more water and the check. That was OK as the conversation was flowing. I would say they could have turned tables faster if they brought the check earlier, but I felt it was more of a European experience, where you have the table until you ask for the check. Charming place with good food!

Front the outside looking in place looks very inviting. Once we were seated our waitress looked like she did not want to be here. We ordered our food and well let’s just say it wasn’t to the expectation we had. I ordered the big breakfast plate. Beans were straight from the can, potatoes were undercooked and cold. Kids ordered Alfredo pasta and yeah cold. Wife ordered chicken and waffles. I’ve had better tasting waffles from the Holiday Inn. But hey how they say you won’t know till you try it out. But first and last time.

Terrible service, our party was 6 and they charge you at extra 20%. Waitress barely acknowledged us. Food was okay

A fun place to take someone for a brunch or lunch

First time at this place and we were greeted in Spanish. We kindly told the hostess we do not speak Spanish and she gave us an ugly look. After that, instead of walking us to our table she pointed to one in the back of the place and did not say anything like if we were animals. We declined to sit where she pointed and instead seated ourselves outside. Another waitress came by and took our order, but never came back to check on us and our refills. Once the food came, we never saw our waitress again and waited 30 mins to pay our bill. Terrible service from start to finish.

This was my first time visiting this restaurant. We were a party of 9 having breakfast the day after Thanksgiving. What an awesome place this is. Seating outside or outside which is very rare in McAllen. We all ordered something different, and everyone was very satisfied with their food. The server's were very friendly and efficient. I am so happy that we visited. I look forward to having dinner there with my wife.

The best part of this place was the atmosphere (we sat outside in 75 degree weather), our waiter (who laughed with us the entire time), and the mimosas. The food was cold and didn't really have anything special to it. Now, I had already assumed this place wasn't kid friendly, but I took my chances and took my 2 year old with me anyway. She was well behaved the entire time in the high chair, minding her business until she was shamed for playing with the sugar packages, and I was shamed for letting her play with them. The hostess took the sugar packets out of her hands, took the little container, and went on about how it was unsanitary for her to be playing with them and that she could just bring a book for her to read. I get it. Maybe my daughter shouldn't have been playing with the sugar packets for "sanitary" reasons. However, she could have approached it differently and directed me as the parent and not take the packets out of my daughter's hand. It was just an unexpected and embarrassing moment. I was quite shocked, to be honest. That lady turned a wonderful brunch experience with friends into a sour one.

Went to breakfast on a Sunday no wait. Service was prompt, food was delicious! I had the chilaqueles with the green and red sauce. They were the best I've ever had. They have a great selection of food options to satisfy your breakfast craving.

The food is delicious, I don't know if I can say the same about their customer service, they took our order and then completely ignored us, adding that one of the waffles had a hair on it, apart from that they charged us for the combo with only one waffle and for another that we had not asked for??

Walking in, the atmosphere automatically makes you feel as if you are in another state of being. The decor and setup is absolutely cute and the server who attended us, Noe, was so friendly and helpful. Being our first time, Noe went above and beyond to get to know us and help decide what to order. Coming from out of town, we will definitely be back, or only for the ambience, but because staff like Noe make a business that much enjoyable.

I didn't really liked Birdie bistro for the following reasons that consider so upclose and personal. The place inside felt packed. Guess it was half full and there's so much echo of the people talking. I could imagine how's the noise with full house. A loud place is not what I expect from a small restaurant. To me, none of the dishes were really something that makes me going back again. I ordered a citrus salad that would have taste better if the spinach and lettuce were chopped. Then we ordered french toasts, none out of the ordinary.. And apparently what saves the visit a bit was the Pasta Alfredo with shrimp and the mimosa ( photo posted is just an oj ). Sorry Birdie. I would not recommend you, but again it has been my personal impression. Maybe you guys will like it more that I do if you give it a try.

We came in as a party of 5 and were really excited to try this place out. The food left a lot to be desired. Two people got the avocado toast which was one slice of white bread each, very little avocado, two eggs, and sesame seasoning. The portion was very small for the price and there was no flavor. I got the chicken and waffles which was just okay. The chicken felt like it was frozen tenders that were reheated. We asked for the receipt but were given the portable terminal with the total to pay but it didn’t have the itemized receipt. We tipped and texted the receipt to ourselves to see the itemized bill only to find we were charged a 20% “large party” fee! $17 had been added to the receipt plus we had added a $10 tip so we paid $27 in tip. We were only 5 people and were never told the additional fee would be added. We were very disappointed and will not be returning.

Went to try and get a table and the server was very rude said they had to go down the list, they said two people ahead of us and there were like 3 tables available. They didn't even give a time for how long it would be, absolutely horrible service ever.

My wife loves this place...so it's a good thing she doesn't follow me lol. I came here on my wife's recommendation, however she raved more about the atmosphere and the decor...than the food. To give it credit...this place has limited hours but when we arrived, it was full. The atmosphere is very present here...you can spend half your stay looking around at all the decorations. The service was quite good. Do not visit this place if you're on a budget...and to be fair, the crowd reflects it. The big fail here is the food sadly. My wife had the chilaquiles and I wanted to try something different, so I went with the quiche. My wife's chilaquiles were decent. You can definitely find them for less, with a larger serving and with much greater flavor elsewhere. The quiche was very forgettable...why you might ask? The crust was almost inedible. The bottom corner of the crust, even with a knife, I could barely cut through. I had the southwest quiche and the flavors mixed quite well. However, if you can't even eat part of it, it's a definite fail. If you have money to spend, free time in the AM, and hours to gossip...this is your place. If you want hot food, banging flavors, and get what you paid for, there's other places to try.

$17… for eggs Benedict? Not worth almost $20. Very small portions, basic flavors. The potatoes were decent though. Place has gone downhill big time. No doubt they’ll be closing their doors soon with these ridiculously overpriced bland food. Oh and the servers look like they hate their lives.

Great environment for a brunch! I love the laid back feel, it’s a bit crowded not an ideal place to take an infant or toddler. The food was delicious. The poblano crepes were delicious & the shrimp Alfredo pasta was outstanding. The cappuccino was a 5/5.

Stopped in Sunday July 28,2024 @11am for our first visit. We enjoyed our visit until we received our food. My friend received the chicken and waffles warm and I received the chilaquiles barely warm. I had to get up and alert the staff. They took our plates to the back, removed the avocado from the plate and microwaved it. Rather than remake it, bring it out fresh and give us what we paid for. I had to ask the waitress for my avocado because it was removed and on top of that the waffle was soggy. We wanted to like this place but it was so disappointing. Never again.

I would give it 5/5 stars: Everything was very delicious 😋😍🥰 my parents order the omelette with potatoes and beans along with la casa tea and I order the molletes (half mushrooms and half chorizo) with la casa coffee including we order a sweet crepe and the lady that attended us very nice, along with the manager too 🫶🏻 it was our first time going there and we all loved it definitely the wait was worth it!! If you're not sure if wether to go or not definitely I would suggest go for it..you'll not regret it 🙌🏻💃🏻 P.s: I think we will may come back soon😁🤗

Amazing brunch with my son. What I loved? The quiche was perfectly textured like a perfectly cooked dumpling and the sweet potato's chips best ever not drenched in grease and resembled more of a ruffles chip. We had the caprese as an appetizer and as we would expect and love firm ripe tomatoes and full basil leaves. Beautiful work. Keep it up please.

Very good service upon entering 👌 super attentive and very good customer service. They have the best chilaquiles and everything is homemade. And if you haven't come to Birdie Bistro you haven't come valley. Requisite lemonades and everything fresh and warm. 100% Recommended

On our recent visit to Birdie Bistro, we enjoyed a delicious burger with a sunny side up egg and a chicken salad croissant. Everything was incredibly tasty, but what really took the prize were the super crispy sweet potato fries. Everything was super fresh which made the experience even better. Birdie Bistro is definitely a place worth visiting for its delicious and fresh food.

Food: Had the chilaquiles. It was absolutely delicious! Missed out on the drinks due to a pending liquor license. Service: fantastic! They were all prompt in servicing us and delivering our meals. Atmosphere: Mainly chose this one due to having our fur baby, Lyla, with us. We were going back home and we were traveling back home and needed a pet friendly place. We sat outside and it was a quaint atmosphere. They also had second floor deck upstairs with tables. Now once I went inside it reminded me of this viral and trending place in River Oaks! I absolutely loved the inside! The decoration is so chic! Didn't get a chance to take pics, but I'd recommend it! All together ❤️ !

Looking for cute, delicious brunch? Don’t come here. The hostess was very rude, immediately asked us to step outside - because the hostess table is right by the door - without a greeting. We sat outside in the sidewalk for 10 minutes despite being told our table was just being cleaned. People who came after us were being sat down. After a while, I walked inside just to be told that the lady forgot to write us down. We were then sat & ordered. Food was so mediocre. Terrible plating. Such few fries. Our drinks were served in plastic, disposable cups - this is not what they show on their social media. Environment was ok, not as cute and trendy as people perceive it to be.

First of all, the lady that sat us had rude . We had a party of 12, so I understand she had to accommodate but she had an attitude. She was Insisting on verifying that all guest were present before sitting us. after assuring her twice all were present, I told her she could count us in a firm voice and that’s when she sat us. The costumer service wasn’t the best either. The waitress just took our order didn’t check up on us once. The worst of all, six out of the twelve party guest became ill with food poisoning symptoms after our visit which cannot be a coincidence. Overall, horrible experience. I would not recommend…After trying to determine if other guests had similar experiences. I saw an article that said the kitchen had several food safety violations during an inspection.

Extremely poor customer service! I don’t EVER leave bad reviews; I am very understanding but from the moment my party of 11 and I walked in, we were greeted with such ugly mannerisms, and only got worse as I said it’d be a party of 12. We came here today to celebrate a family member graduating college and it was just a HORRENDOUS experience. Not the way we wanted to start off such a special day. As stated, customer service was the worst there could be and to top it off, 6 out of the 12 of us ended up with food poisoning. Coincidentally, I ended up reading an article AFTER our visit that the kitchen had several food safety regulations during an inspection. Wish I could’ve read that article before our visit and avoid this whole situation. Would rate it less than a 1 star if I could.

Had brunch here for a friends birthday, she was expecting to have a big party of people but not everyone showed up . Everybody paid separately but ended up getting charged 20 percent for a “large party” when I paid it didn’t give me a breakdown so I figured it wasn’t with tip included . The waiter didn’t care to tell me the tip was included already. Found out when I got home and checked my receipt . There was 5 of us which we had to have a second table for the 5th person the waiter came and asked to take that table while that one friend was still eating, found that pretty rude considering we were being charged already for large party . I ended up paying $29.65 just for myself which I find it expensive just for some chilaquiles and a drink . Will probably not be going back there anymore . Also they put on the ticket that there was a guest count of 8 that was definitely correct .

Karma did its job! 👏🏼 ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️ I gave life to Birdie, all her walls were painted by me, I hung caldelabrums myself, I covered all the chairs by hand, I helped local artists by buying objects that filled my heart to give life to Birdie, I was the sole owner for a couple of years until I fell into the clutches of these “big businessmen” This Mr. #LuisFabianVela along with two other very renowned businessmen in #RGV #McAllen did me a lot of harm, they involved me in their words and “big business” games, their lies hurt me a lot. I applaud the laws of this country for somehow delivering justice! I have been threatened for years to keep me quiet. ‼️ Enjoy prison a lot sir! There go all the people who do evil!‼️

I always come here to get brunch, only this experience the service by the waitress was not that great. I can understand if she was having a bad day but never put that on your customers. Other than that food was amazing and they have a lot of great options. A caramel latte on the side 😋☕️

Watch out for their "Large group" automatic gratuity of 20%. Then at checkout, they ask if you want to tip even more. This was a surprise because we were a table of 3. We met a very nice young couple and chose to pay for their meal. Boom, party of 5.

It was a so-so experience overall. I wanted to like it because it was super packed with people, so I assumed it was a great place to be for a weekend brunch. However, the food and drink were so average or subpar, particularly for the prices. There is nothing I tried here that would ever make me want to come back, although the patio area was lovely. The service was good, so they have the right wait staff. The food did not taste fresh. The chicken strips tasted like frozen ones. The waffle was dense and flavorless. The tea jug was watered down. The pasta had a decent taste to it. The cuisine standards in the RGV are low for non-Mexican food, so these types of places are usually packed without a care for the very basic food offerings.

Positives: Very cute place with a beautiful outdoor seating area. Accommodating to pets (dogs) and has good service. The vibes are great. It's an overall nice place to get brunch with family and friends while dressed nice-casual. Negative: The first thing I noticed was the high prices on the menu-- the menu was a little limited too. Moreover, I got the eggs benedict and it was $16. It was only two, and they were small. Drinks were also a little pricy-- $7 for any non-refillable espresso drink. Overall, if you want to get brunch with loved ones and want to have it at a pretty place with brunch-y type food, this is the place to be! Just be prepared to pay $15 or more per person for small portions.

I would never recommend this place to my worst enemy. Horrible customer service didn’t just end at the door when we walked to our car a man walks past me and says next time have some respect and don’t park in reserved parking. My jaw dropped because I was clueless because I was parked in a spot with a sign that stated reserved for birdies bistro cafe & bakery or something like that. I called him back several times saying, “Excuse me sir can you explain the issue.” The guy was so rude, he physically waved me off and gave me the rudest expression imaginable. I was pissed. I turned around, went back in, and asked who the owner was. Needless to say he was the owner. The lady I asked was his sister and after I explained the situation to her, I demanded an apology. She said, “Well, it’s kind of obvious that it’s staff parking and that was his spot that you’re in.” I was seriously dumbfounded by her remark and asked her to whom it was obvious to because nowhere did it say staff parking. She went on to say each sign says something different. I explained to her that it’s not customary for people to go spot by spot to see if each sign said something different. I saw birdies bakery & cafe, it was available, so I parked. Well i guess we need to add that was all she had to say. I asked for an apology but of course didn’t get anything but excuses for his and her horrible attitudes. If he was a professional, he would have nicely come over to explain the parking situation and I would have been okay with it but he chose to be rude and a coward. Never again!!!

Wonderful atmosphere but the food was below average . The chicken and waffles were super sad ,chicken was pre frozen . They were garnished with plain ol pecans , no butter and were cold and hard . Service never came back to check on us or offer refills , just the check .

The food is alright not the best for the price the biggest issue is the space from customers and servers bumping into you it makes it not enjoyable. The other issue is they started picking plates and it seems like they want you to leave as soon as possible you feel rushed out.

My daughter and I were looking for a quiet, special place to have dinner as we had not seen each other for a time. We happened on this quaint and lovely bistro accidently. The service was outstanding from the hostess to the waitress to the young woman clearing the table. We sat outside on the patio and the ambience was perfect, soft music, twinkling lights. We shared the chicken picatta and crepe with strawberries. Both were excellent. You have to try Birdies special tea which was served in a fine bone China cup, the way tea should be served. The entire evening was perfect and we both highly recommend eating here.

Good food but seems like they need more servers. But they really need to replace that lady at the front host. I being there 3 times and the 3 times this lady treated me not so nice(acttually she was rude) gave it the chance multiple times because of the good food they serve but I just can't handle bad attitude. We were a party of 7 celebrating my daughter's 27th birthday but after this rude lady we decided to go aomewhereelse. So I call Doroteo's restaurant. And not only they were really polite & kind their food its really good and not too pricey

You need to eat here. The food and staff are awesome. Had the eggs Benedict (yum, and is the first place that has ever gotten the whites of my eggs cooked and the yoke runny) Such a cute place. Google maps had difficulty finding it. Just know it faces Main Street, is 2 stories and has a lot of large trees and potted plants surrounding it.
