Lovely food & a nice atmosphere. A delicious breakfast, the eggs benedict was lovely! Will definitely be returning soon!

We went for a meal but didn't realise they now stop serving at 3 in the afternoon. Not a problem.

Excellent service, atmosphere and staff

Always assured a fantastic experience at The Birdcage. The coffee is excellent and the cakes outstanding. A great selection of some quirky beers, great wines and cocktails. The team, superbly led by Rachel is always attentive and helpful. I cannot recommend this place enough, give it a try and you won't be disapointed.

A lovely place to come and celebrate occasions. Always feel so welcomed with a friendly atmosphere. Good quality homemade food (the breakfast is the best). Wonderful for some relaxed drinks. Cocktail specials on at Halloween & other events. Staff make sure the dog always gets a treat too.

Long service times, a hair in the food. Very awkward atmosphere felt very uncomfortable from start to finish. Staff need training. I organised my friends’ baby shower here and I 100% would recommend. The staff were amazing and so attentive. Anything we asked for they accommodated and offered to help move things around when setting up. The place itself is lovely. It was the perfect size and felt really intimate, which was the perfect vibe. Thank you so much to everyone who worked that day :) We didn’t have a buffet from birdcage itself but I have been a couple of times and the food is really nice. Perfect for a little lunch or coffee date :)

Lovely little restaurant just outside Chesterfield Town centre. Visited today at lunch time. It filled up quite quickly so best to book if available

Gave the Birdcage a quick call to see if they had space for me and my dog for breakfast. They reserved a table for us, and we were lucky to get in, so we headed over. What a great place. Before we even ordered our breakfast we'd been offered a dog bed and a dog treat. Great atmosphere, great staff and fabulous food. We'll definitely be back. Thanks for a great experience. 👍

Was passing through and called in for breakfast. Best bacon and mushroom sarnie I’ve had! Friendly, welcoming staff too. If I had a cushion for my bum on the metal chair it would have been perfect :) will be back x

What a wonderful find. Cozy cafe bar with amazing food and excellent staff. We were made to feel most welcome and was even invited to their quiz night which we happily accepted. My tip is go for the Birdcage breakfast. You certainly won’t be disappointed.

Me and a few of my friends have just had our works Christmas meal at the Birdcage, and we all thoroughly enjoyed it, great value for money, fantastic food, great service and would highly recommend it an can’t wait to go again.

What a Calm and friendly place to have a family meal. Birdcage went above and beyond to provide me and my family with an early Xmas dinner which was delicious. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Brilliant afternoon out with family will definitely be visiting again very soon. Thank you Birdcage.

Absolute little gem this place, the burgers are the best I've had, (just missing gerkins) brilliant atmosphere, great decor & friendly staff. Central to Chesterfield & Close to town centre. Can't recommend enough.

Birdcage is a really modern, clean and welcoming place. The food is quality, I've had the breakfast there which was really nice. The food all top quality. I've also had the birdcage burger which I would highly recommend. Great selection of drinks and cakes too. Will definitely be going again.

Just had the most fantastic homemade Steak Pie was filled with the most tender steak pieces and was so tasty and so much of it! Great atmosphere great 🎵 on & the most friendliest bar staff Sam in particular an absolute asset to the the place.

Went for a last minute breakfast at the Birdcage. So glad that we did as the food was excellent with friendly service. The quality of the food was very good, particularly the black pudding. Small inside restaurant area with nice contemporary decor. Will definitely visit again to sample the lunchtime meals.

Lovely bar/cafe/ restaurant. Quite loud traffic noise as it is located on the busy A6 Derby Road. Friendly, helpful staff.

Had a afternoon tea with my wife and was very impressed with the food super fast and the service was very excellent friendly staff and excellent quality 10/10 would recommend the birdcage to anyone. Who should be very proud of your staff and thanks for everything.

Thank you so much for catering for a baby shower!!! There was so much selection on the afternoon tea for only £14.99 by far the cheapest in Chesterfield and with lots of extras such as quiche, pork pie, and macaroons. The food was delicious, Rachel was brilliant in providing gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options for the afternoon tea with just as much choice as a regular one. All the staff were lovely and we were able to reserve the whole terrace for no extra cost to host the event. The food was so nice and there was plenty left over, staff were attentive and provided great customer service! We will definitely be returning!!

Second time coming and first just after it opened. The place itself is lovely and the staff serving us were really friendly. On the downside the tables are grooved wood and despite being wiped clean old food collects. My teapot was cracked and chipped, the tea poor quality and the cup smelt of wet dog. Ordered a sausage roll and it was very poor quality with the sausage meat the consistency of mashed potato. The coffee ordered came out luke warm and wasn't enjoyed. The outdoor area is nice but with the heavy traffic of Derby Road in the back drop it didn't offer a relaxing outdoor experience

Dissatisfied with the afternoon tea. The sandwiches were a bit dry on the edges and the quiche was wet when you cut into it.

Absolutely amazing little cafe just down from the Cineworld at Chesterfield. Food was superbly presented and tasted mega and I only came in for breakfast but they do also serve in the evening and have a bar... The pitcher and pizza night sounded like a must go to! Only complaint is the only real parking is at the cinema complex but yoi get 5 hours free there and its only a 5-10 minute walk down the road!

This is a lovely little place, with seating indoors and outside. I don't know whether there's any level access at the back, as we went in at the front. There's a small step. We had lovely coffee and cake. They had gluten free cakes, and oat milk for my daughter's coffee. I'd recommend this café to anyone who wants nice cake and coffee, and where the place is nice and clean, with friendly, helpful staff.

I am afraid the customer service was somewhat lacking. Pre-booked table was not available and when we were put at another table the service was very slow. Staff were not attentive enough and I had to go inside to order drinks. I want to support local businesses and this is really easy to rectify. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Avoid at all costs, staff are very, very rude!!! I went for lunch with friends, on Saturday and had to wait an hour, for our food. We had no apology and when the food finally came, it was bought out, one by one, there were items missing and my friend's steak sandwich was cold. The problem wasn't the fact that we had to wait, it was the attitude and lack of respect, we recieved from ALL the staff that were present. Avoid at all costs!!!

A tasty and filling BLT and chips for brunch .

First time at the Bird Cage, we both had cappuccino and a steak pie with mash and peas. It was all very good. We will return.

Came for breakfast. Breakfast Menu a bit limited. English breakfast or sandwiches . Our full English was good with quality ingredients . Bit pricy for what you get but nice atmosphere

The staff are lovely and friendly,the food is excellent and the seating is great both inside and out,the outside area is completely covered so still warm and cosy.Would definitely recommend.

The only thing that let down my first visit was the young male server. He messed with another guy's hair (obviously a colleague) but then went on to handle clean cups without washing his hands. So from a health and hygiene perspective not good! Thankfully I didn't see him handle any food.

First Impressions ...NOT. couldn't give No stars so 1 will do !! We walked down the river to here for a coffee stop on a lovely sunny afternoon ,at the end of our walk was the Bird cage so we went for coffee at 3:30 pm to be met at the door by a member of staff shouting in a not very friendly wat "WE'RE CLOSED" even though times on Google say open till 4 pm and sign on door confirmed this . First thing change your opening times Secondly train your staff better I suppose the old COVID /staff issues will be rolled out as an excise Don't bother won't call here again

Popped in for food, I had hallumi salad, and the girlfriend had hallumi burger, both were really nice, would definitely have it again, look forward to returning.

Great food but not a great experience today in terms of service, I'm sorry to say. The staff were struggling to keep on top of the orders coming in and the waiting team seemed a little overwhelmed with the situation. I'd say 3/4 of the outside tables were taken in 1 inside, so not full by any stretch. Shame. They were apologetic and gave a small discount, so don't be out off going, but do be prepared to wait if they are even a bit busy!

Called in on way to collect my car from the garage and ordered 'Fried Halloumi and Caesar Salad'. It was well presented, tasted great, perfect proportion size and served with a smile. Staff very pleasant. Will call again. Thanks all.

Disappointed. Had seen the menu previously looked nice. However today we were told there was a new chef and ‘she doesn’t do cooked full English’. Only bacon or sausage and will cook an egg if required. 😕. Makes me wonder if she cooks anything else through the day?

Lovely little place, a bit of a hidden gem as not central to Chesterfield. This place was busy and plenty of seats outside. Food was delicious and the cakes looked divine. Great coffee. Very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.

Great burger at a reasonable price.

Visited Easter Monday, waited nearly an hour for a bacon and Brie melt and a 3 bean melt, the couple sat behind us ordered food after us had their food order including a pie was served to them before ours. When our order finally arrived the bacon melt hardly had any chilli jam and the bean melt had very little cheese and it wasn’t melted said served with crispy onions these was also missing. Disappointing as visited before and really enjoyed it

I’ve been to Birdcage 3 times now, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Every time the service has been fab, the food has been absolutely delicious and the staff friendly and attentive. There is a huge range of drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic, and so much of the food is locally sourced from nearby farms. The decor is gorgeous, inside and out and the outdoor area is warm and cosy. They are dog friendly inside and outside too. In the ladies toilets there are free sanitary products for if you’re caught short and a sign explaining that the staff can help you leave discreetly if you are on a date and it’s not going so well. It’s just such a lovely local gem with a huge amount of attention to detail and I’m so glad we found it.

A warm and friendly welcome with attentive staff. My husband, son and I had a full English breakfast here today (with slight variation at our request). The meal was delicious and our tea (as we'd requested) was served promptly with our meal. Great service, delicious meal and competitive prices. We noticed they were dog friendly too, bonus!!☺️☺️

Excellent couple of hours spent here last night after trip to Bowling Alley. Fab place, great decor and lovely toilets. Staff really friendly and helpful. Will be going back during the day to try the food. Definitely recommend the Birdcage.

Great evening, very pleasant team

We recently hosted our works Christmas party at the Birdcage. We opted for private use as we had over 30 guests attending, as always we did a free bar and buffet. We had a great time, the food was out of this world and the Birdcage even cleared space in order to provide a dance floor complete with disco lights and a smoke machine. Highly recommend, we was all made to feel very welcome, loads of quality food. We could not possibly eat it all and the staff even boxed some up so that we could all take it home. Great night, the best quality, value for money works party we have had, we saved so much money on our usual venue that we have decided to book again for a summer party on the decking. Thank you Birdcage and merry Christmas, we wont forget this one in a hurry x

We found this lovely cafe on our way home from Sheffield, its lovely inside and has seating outside too, the staff are really friendly and the cakes are delicious. I would highly recommend a visit
