Nice place by canal to the river severn

Nice chilled environment, next to the stourport canal

Stopped here for refreshments while on a bike ride on canal from dudley to stourport .very nice selection of drinks and a seating area next to the canal looks a little tired out side but still very happy to of stipped here .toilets were xlean and sfaff very welcoming

Room was nice, and good location by the canal. It would be good for me if breakfast was from 07:00 but not available until 08:30 The land lady did swap our breakfast for evening dinner. Nice

Absolutely fantastic time. The staff were welcoming and friendly, rooms were lovely and clean, and the breakfast was exactly what we needed, and the location is unrivaled. Thank you so much for our stay.

Really lovely location. Fantastically friendly and very helpfull staff. Loved our twin room - so much so that we wanted to stay an extra night but sadly they were already fully booked. Would definately book here again in the future. Many thanks Lynn and staff x

A great pub, with friendly regulars and good beer, always felt welcome even though I don't visit too often: it's a great place to sit with a beer overlooking the canal on a good day, and near the open fire in the winter.

Wanted to experience this pub for some time, the setting canal side was great, ducks meandering in, what's not to love? I didn't particularly feel it was a welcoming environment, there was a high volume of foul language from some of the patrons, so not some where I would want to take my kids! Cleanliness left an amount to be desired too, I am being generous! Apologies 🙏, location great, after that not for me or mine.

Stayed for a weekend visiting Family. Rooms are great, pub has a great atmosphere and host Lynn hard working and very welcoming. Superb Breakfast.

Can't give any stars as someone called wendy took bookings for rooms for 2 friends of mine for this weekend 26th aug, when they called to check all was OK... No booking for them!! Can someone please explain??? Terrible service!!

Stopped for a meal and a couple of pints while on a canal boat trip, the beer was excellent (Butty Bach and Town Crier) but they had stopped serving food so a bag of peanuts had to do

Very disappointed. Looks great from the outside, very dated on the inside. Sticky tables 😳. Menu is extremely limited and seems from 1970s (chicken in a basket???) About 4 TVs on, showing different sports but far too loud. Could be an absolute goldmine given it's location but definitely needs to up it's game. Shan't bother again.

Moored just up from the pub. Parked car in car park overnight after asking permission from barman. Out of courtesy saw landlady the following day to see if we could keep car there for a few days as we would be drinking in there for the next week and was met with a very hostile response. It's simple. Just tell your staff to say no and stick a sign on the car park saying no overnight parking. I have no issue with not parking there. Just a simple courteous no would have been enough. The result is they will lose our trade for the week. No food available. Don't try to get there by Google maps as it will send you down a blocked road. I tried to tell her this as it must affect trade, but she didn't want to know.

Welcoming staff and locals, superb location on the canal bank, a short stroll down the foot path to the town centre, we will definitely be going back.

Very friendly and pleasant atmosphere. Good beers and range of gins. Allows dogs which is a big bonus. Hadn't time for food but having seen it served up will definitely be back to try the food.

Haven't been in for a long time , heard that new landlord taken over and Euro football was showing so decided to give it a visit. Will be back soon , friendly pub great beer , well worth a visit and right by the canal so ideal for walkers , boaters and cyclists.

Ordered a beer and a glass of Merlot, the Merlot was off so returned it and it was replaced no questions or animosity. An excuse given though "most around here drink Sheraz so I don't know when the Merlot bottle was opened". We ordered a ploughman's lunch and a chicken kebab with chips. The ploughman's was a slice of ham, small wedge of cheese a pickled onion and a bit of salad and a small baguette which was stale and therefore unedable. The wife's kebab was slimy and unedable so she left it all and ate the chips. Nobody came to see if we needed anything or ask if the food were OK. We slowly drank our drinks expecting someone to come and clear the table but know one did so we left very disappointed. We went here because the reviews and the menu looked to our taste. The first thing we noticed on arrival was a scant and basic menu. I know things in their trade have been tough and can accept a simpler menu, but I can't accept basic food not cooked propper.

I feel that I must offer a different point of view to previous reviews. Yesterday, we visited the pub whilst visiting our cousin on his boat. The staff were absolutely wonderful- the lunch food was well priced; the thick ham sandwich and the cheesy chips were excellent - Thank you

Very badly run pub. Staff are not attentive at all and don't even know the basic drinks that they serve . Drinks took forever to turn up...half the time they didn't put the orders through.

Very rude staff. After sitting for 15 minutes and no acknowledgement from any staff, I popped head into pub and asked if we could order food and drinks. Very rudely and abruptly was told the waitress would get to us, proceeded to show me an order of 5 drinks that was waiting and told me if I didn't want to wait I should go elsewhere! Then she was rude about us to another table!! Fantastic customer service 😂 same member of staff was rude/abrupt previous week but put it down to reopening stress and getting used to new way of doing things - nope just rude. Walked to watermill instead, welcomed immediately, food and drink served with a smile within 10 mins! Will not be going back.

We had a lovely stroll along the old railway track a couple of weeks ago, from Torton, over the top of Wilden, and ended up coming off a bridge, and walked along the canalside, to the Bird In Hand. We only had drinks, this time, and sat outside, admiring the beautiful view, but the service was good, the staff welcoming, and the pub is really nice too. The pub is set in one of the best locations in Stourport, and only a short walk from the town

Nice canal side pub. Unfortunately the food is dreadful. Ordered a steak and ale pie, which arrived in a pie dish with a big hearty puff pastry lid on it. On removing the lid I discovers an almost empty dish. Then to add to this I bit into one of the chips only to discover that the inside was black. I drew this to the attention of the cook who told me that that was their normal portion and did not offer any apology for the standard of food. Needless to say I didn't consume the "food". Sadly the worst thing about this was the attitude of the staff. They genuinely could not have cared any less. Shame really.

Great memories of this pub last year.....sadly new owners now....awful food, even more awful service.....grumpy....rude and almost ungrateful for your custom...avoid.......
