Bircham Stores & Cafe in King's Lynn and West Norfolk

A really nice place with terrific food and two really lovely, friendly young ladies serving. The sausage rolls were delicious and a really decent cup of coffee. I also picked up a Bakewell tart which won’t survive the evening Altogether excellent and we’ll definitely be back soon. Thank you 😊

Food was lovely , great choice and fresh. Coffee was okay, very hot but not much flavour, even for a latte. Found a quiet place to sit and eat , very friendly staff and owner, made me feel welcome 😊

We turned up at the store midway through a long cycle ride hoping for a quick bite to eat and were not disappointed! Cafe was closed but the store has a selection of pastries and cakes, as well as lots of other food items, all of which seemed excellent quality and the owner Mark was so lovely and friendly. We had a sausage roll and a quiche with some salad, and everything was outstanding. Highly recommend this place!

Best coronation chicken sandwich I've ever had!

We love this place, the food is great in the café, when the café isn't open we normally pick something up from the store/deli. The food in both is ace. We use Bircham Stores pretty much every week when out on our bikes or if we want to meet friends. We love it and the staff. Thanks guys.

We popped in to grab a few bits with the family. They have a good selection of cakes, pastries and deli goods and you can also sit in for a coffee too. Everything we had was delicious the owner was really kind to our children and made their day! Thank you for your kindness

Called in to buy some vinegar as my new windscreen was very greasy and in the rain with headlights coming towards us it was very difficult to see. Spoke to the owner who was so helpful giving me some degreaser from the kitchen and paper roll. Very refreshing to get such friendly service way beyond your expectations. The Nar Valley Honey is FAB!

We had heard about this small village stores and cafe and we felt we needed to pop in to see for ourselves and it was a store with a few tables and a lovely man happily singing in his kitchen and a lady serving ! We had a cup of coffee and homemade Victoria sandwich cake so delicious ! I do think as we were new customers to this quaint old store the lady could of been a bit more friendly !

Stopped here for a coffee break whilst travelling to the coast. Impressed with the friendly staff and excellent coffee. Took a still warm homemade sausage roll away with me and ate it later. The roll was very tasty indeed. Well worth a visit

The best Full English breakfast around! Fresh well cooked food and the black pudding was fantastic. My only criticism (well more personal preference than a criticism) would be that there were too many tomatoes - there was a small vine of about 5 cherry tomatoes as well as a couple of halves of full size tomatoes. Having said that the extra tomatoes didn’t detract from the delicious sausages, bacon, mushroom, eggs and the aforementioned delicious black pudding. Will definitely be visiting again to try out more of the menu.

We popped by, just by chance, for a drink and brownie yesterday whilst camping nearby. We got chatting to Mark who shared his delicious brownie recipe with us & gave us a menu for brunch today in case we fancied it. We absolutely did, especially after his description of salted brisket of beef. Returning today, we just felt like it couldn’t get better! Dog friendly, super court yard, cracking island vibe music and wonderful friendly service from the man himself. We will definitely be back! Thank you Becky, Vicki & Jimmy the Pug x

Enjoyed the most wonderful breakfast this morning in glorious sunshine. Everything from the quality of the food and locally sourced produce to the beautiful courtyard surroundings and service was first class! What a find - we will be back!

Very good stop for a bite to eat. Mainly sandwiches seemed to be offered but there was a reasonable range and when they came they were massive. Good combination and ratio of Dijon mustard on my pistrami sandwhich. Slightly slow service but i think maybe they were understaffed for a Saturday. Good place to stop with the ability to get provisions for home and some nice local produce

This is not Starbucks. The kitchen is manned by humans serving fresh food. The more structured (menu driven) sit down cafe is not always open but you’ll always get some fabulous choices at the deli counter to eat at the tables in the shop or outside. When we last visited we only wanted a snack anyway. Mark, the owner is not conformist. He was happy to simply plate up one of his enormous sausage rolls for me and a pork pie for hubbie with a side of Branston, at our request! There were lots of sandwich options and our friend (not eating white carbs!) was offered a deconstructed avocado and bacon ciabatta served effectively as a Caesar salad. So much on sale was baked by them or sourced locally. I was able to pick up a bunch of local asparagus too. Nothing seems to be too much trouble. Just ask.

Absolutely gorgeous and delicious brunch here. Beautiful location. We had the full English which you could tell was locally sourced and cooked to perfection. We also had the kippers, which is also a must have, the beetroot bread was so fresh, could of eaten loads more. Compliments to the chef. This place is a little gem situated in a typically quaint Norfolk village. Lovely setting with various seating options. It’s a bold statement but the salt beef ciabatta I had was the best sandwich I’ve ever eaten!! Also, excellent service from the girl who took our order. Highly recommended.

Bircham Stores offer a fantastic selection of freshly made sandwiches for lunch, as well as other baked goods. The staff always offer a friendly welcome, and the sandwiches are always a good treat after a long week! I'd recommend to anyone in the area who wants a decent lunch, either to take out or sit in.

Absolutely amazing food. Im not into sandwiches myself but what we have had was heaven. Seeiously I didnt kniw sandwich can be that good! Coffee was top too. we stopped off on our bike ride and admired the wonderful cakes. They didn't have any that were gf&df but we were able to have a tasty coconut milk latte. A very pretty village stores with some lovely products on sale.

One of the best Bacon Sandwick & Cup of Tea I have had. When we turned up the cafe part of the deli was closes due to staff shortages, however the owner was great and made us a special Ciabatta Bacon Sandwick. Great Deli

The last time I visited Bircham Café was pre Covid. Yet, I literally walked partially through the front door and was greeted by Mark by name and welcomed warmly. The food, drink and service was amazing as expected, and Mark took time to ask after our daughter (who he has not seen for years) which was so personal and lovely. Mark, we are sorry for not coming back sooner. We have the deepest respect and admiration for you and all you have achieved through your Bircham stores and Café Business. You have a clear focus on customers, on amazing service and made both myself and my Husband Gary very proud to know you. We will definitely be making more frequent visits from now on.

Although we are not new to the area we have only just moved into the village itself. Ive been dying to try out the food here but our first visit today was simply for groceries. Upon seeing there scrumptious counter selection i couldn't help but order most of it. Imagine my horry with a que full of people to realise that i had forgotten my bank card and had little cash on me. To make matters worse my 3 times disabled child then kicked the counter. I was mortified. And yet the gentleman behind the counter was amazing. He didn't even look twice at my sons appalling behaviour but also gave us more produce than i had the cash for. Yes the food is amazing and i cant recommend it enough but that level of service is second to none. Personally that means more to me than the high level of food they do offer.

Dropped in by chance and were treated to an absolutely fantastic breakfast. Brilliant friendly service and could not fault the food in any way. Really good menu as well had stuff like pancakes with maple syrup and kedgeree to choose from. My wife had the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. A real find will definitely be coming back.

Mark the owner is a vibrant and wonderful character who clearly has built a strong team around him. Everyone on top of their game and so welcoming. Mary the chef deserves the highest of praise. With pasties and food this good she needs her own TV programme to share some of her secrets. BTW,,,,,irs also very evident the locals also adore this fantastic gem of an amenity in their community.

I rarely write online reviews, but we were so blown away by the quality of food and service here that we had to make the time. We stayed at a nearby cottage (Cherry Ridge) for a week and walked to Bircham Stores almost every morning for a coffee. One day we had lunch and had what had to be one of the most delicious beef salads we have ever had--the ingredients simply tasted so fresh and flavorsome. It was my wife's birthday and so Mark, the owner, kindly has his pastry chef Mary bake us a gluten-free chocolate cake--this was, objectively, to die for. If you pass through Great Bircham and do not stop here, you are missing something special.

We, by mistake, visited on a day the cafe was closed but the wonderfully accommodating owner, Mark, still managed to instantly create a delicious lunch from a selection of food from his shop. We returned on a day when the cafe was actually open and we were delighted by the absolutely delicious food at excellent prices. We all really enjoyed our choices and I can’t praise my lamb kofta with Greek salad and feta cheese highly enough. The cafe has a sheltered outdoor space as well as a comfortable indoor dining room. I highly recommend this place as both a wonderful deli and a great little cafe.

Popped in as needed to find an address, spoke to Mark who pointed me in the right direction. Then I returned after my errand and had one of the best iced coffees ever.Has a great little deli with, gluten free stuff, organic etc etc.Will definitely be coming back to try more delights on offer and will definitely try the café when it reopens.

Went to Bircham cafe for breakfast with friends . Rang ahead as I have recently become vegan and wasn’t sure if they would be able to cater for me. I had no need to worry the breakfast was lovely I really enjoyed it. I had avocado on beetroot toast with a potato cake with spinach and mushrooms.The food was well presented and delicious.My friends really enjoyed their breakfasts as well.The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them.I would definitely recommend it and great for vegans

We've been here several times over the last year and it always pleases. The menu isn't extensive or posh but has simple, well thoughout and executed dishes. The breakfasts are great. Mark (the owner) is a great host.Plenty of parking outside and it's cosy inside. Right next to the deli so you can pick up something on your way home.In fact, I'm going to go back again tomorrow.

What a wonderful cafe, from our welcome to our departure. We had an excellent selection of meals and sandwiches and drinks to choose from, all produced and served with loving care even though we arrived rather late in the day. The ambiance was excellent, with interesting art on the walls and it would be a lovely place to sit outside on a warmer day. We bought some delights in the deli too so, call in if you are passing or just go there!

Life long Norfolk resident. I can tell you that this is the best little bakery/cafe i have ever experienced. Just the most amazing home made sausage rolls with red onion jam are enough to make your come back drooling, i literally could not stop thinking about them for days🥴. Get down there you don't know what you are missing!!!!

I went there for the second time to find out if the English breakfast is always as superb as it was the first time. It is! Excellent ingredients (the field mushroom really tastes of mushroom!). Perfectly cooked. Attractively presented. And the pot of decent Twinings tea is of a good size. The personable owner, with whom I exchanged pleasantries, put extra hot water in the pot when I was running low and was quick to replenish the little milk jug. When I had consumed the delicious breakfast, he offered me toast and marmalade, which I readily accepted. All in all, a wonderful experience. Just what I needed after hiking several miles across country. Considering the quality of the food and the excellent service, it is good value for money. Highly recommended.

Made a detour to come here yesterday because of the excellent reviews. We started with the coffee which was amazing! We then found it hard to choose but I had the porridge with the fresh compote and my husband had the pancakes with maple syrup and bacon. Fantastic quality and so yummy! The service was marvellous too. Now we are planning another detour on our return journey as it was SO SO good. Thank you very much.

The food is to die for. We had the sourdough bread topped with guacamole salmon and egg with hollandaise sauce - an inspired choice, but we can't wait to try some of the other great food on the menu.Highly recommended.

Service was poor with unfriendly and superior attitude from the staff. Flys all over the sausage rolls left out on the counter. Coffee terribly weak. Would not visit again.

What a find for us. Delightful cafe and the reviews didn’t lie - this place has lovely staff and superb food. Best chicken Caesar salad I have had anywhere. It was difficult to choose everything seemed so tempting. A lady on another table had the pancakes with berries which looked like it belonged in a magazine shoot. Give it a go you will not be disappointed.
