Good to stop by and you find a few of them open during lunch hours. Great quick bite of fish and hella lot of chips. Enjoy..

I have just dined in and I have to say the fish, chips and mushy peas was absolutely delicious and they make a great cup of tea too! I can definitely recommend.

Excellent food. Busy as always but didn't have to wait too long. My wife loves the fish, so I occasionally make a special trip for her.

We’ve been going to Billy’s plaice for years now and todays was the worst we’ve had, the chips were chewy but also tasted like they had been warmed up or the oil needs changing, the service was great though.

Was our favourite chippy for over ten years. Last meal was absolutely awful and over priced. Never again.

This place in Glossop is 10/10. The shop is itself is very clean and also the food was spot on. Only thing I could say is that I wish they do small deserts. Apart from that I would recommend it.

Best chippy ive eaten at much better than hyped ones in Manchester fish is spot on every time and curry sauce is really good as well and pretty cheap as well. Had to stop my self going all the time its that good.

They sell the best fish around which is massive, with soft chunky chips which I prefer 👌

Terrible customer service! No manners! Walked in no one acknowledged us, severed another customer who came in after us! Then told you can have a large chips... This could of been split into 2 portions to make them easier to eat... But that was clearly a stretch too far in logic. Then asked for forlk, where staff member placed 2x forks on the counter when I held out my hand.... I've worked in various customer service environments and the attention to detail is what matters...didn't feel like you wanted the custom tbh.

Superbly fresh fish and chips, and gorgeous curry sauce!

Love this chippy, everything they do they do to a high standard and the chips are the best in my eyes. One other thing I love is there is always the right amount of salt and vinegar. Seems small but it's hit and miss at any other chippy bar this one. Glad to have them on our doorstep.

Hi , I’m not from this area at all and I recently was called into to help with work at boots next door, I got a bit hungry and seen this place I was a little bit skeptical because I am a picky eater (hence why I only got a portion of fries). Just wanted to say how friendly staff were, so welcoming and really nice to all customers. Well done for that. My chips were ready the second I made the order and tasted fresh and hot just how I like it. Judging by the menu they do offer some really good portions but I would prefer a plain chips haha. Reasonably priced and nice seating inside. Will be coming back to this place if I get called into work again. Thanks guys for lovely service ❤️

Yum! This place has the most delicious mushy peas. Fish is crisp and tender. A favourite in our house!

Was gross, I got a regular chips with a side of curry sauce. Opened it to find the curry sauce was just poured on my chips and all of my chips were drenched to a point where they were just mush. My boyfriend got mini fish and chips and mushy peas and it all came dumped in the box. Soggy fish too, do not recommend tbh. :)

Billy is such a lovely man. Had a chat with him about how he managed to keep his prices low with inflation and all and he was so gracious and inspiring. The food was great and the staff was so nice and friendly. Amy was super fantastic.

The fish and chips from here are as good as ever despite the change in "chef". The fish is some of the freshest you'll find anywhere, even on a Saturday.

Been coming here for over 18 years but the main fryer Lav has left and gone back to Cyprus, so new team in shop and today the fish and chips were not great, chips were small, hard and tasteless and the fish wasnt upto its usual standards. The curry sauce was far too salty had to send it back. Billy you need to step-in here to help the new staff get it back on track. cheers

Classic British fish and chips the way it’s meant. This was the first place we visited in Glossop and we couldn’t have had a friendlier reception, staff is great and even recommended us a bunch of stuff to do. Just good people ❤️

Always having to wait for your food they never have anything ready they should know by now what there customer base is and have some items cooked and ready to go even if you pre order you still have to wait this is what let's it down this is the reason why I don't go there often

Where do I start with Billy's Plaice. Let's start with when you enter the shop. No one greets you, you stand there and wonder, where is the queue? So you ask the other customers and they don't even know either. Then we'll get to the staff, rude in my opinion. There is a guy who seems to say bye to the people who are walking past the shop as he doesn't stop and look, seems to be on auto pilot. Lastly, and I say finally the food. It's good, but expensive £12.50 for 2 pudding, chips and curry. NO THANKS! Personally I'll stick with Station Road Chinese chippy. Cheaper and alwsys greeted with a smile and I know where to queue and I'll get change lol

So I live local to this chippy (Tintwistle) but have never been before. I had been working later on friday 8th April 22 and had to pick my son up from nursery. Knowing he also needed his tea before having to head back out later on I decided to pop and get him a children's meal on my way to pick him up. They do a large children's meal for £3.70 that comes with a sauce of choice so I asked for the curry sauce but separately as i know, like most children he can be a bit fussy. The lady told me that, as it was not an option on the till then she could not do it and would have to charge all separately, thus coming to £5.90. As I was in a hurry and the place was busy I just paid contactless without really thinking of what had just happened. I went to pick up my son and was going to pick the meal back up on my way back from his nursery. Moments later once i'd left, this bothered me greatly. I had to pay £2.20 extra for a pot? Then it dawned that she had actually charged for the adult normal sized equivalent. Frustrated I picked up my son and went back to the shop, I was going to say something but by this time the shop was far more busier and loud, I was handed the meal and I felt unable to speak out. This is why i'm making this review now. Now I do not understand why from the get go she could just not had put a request in to the kitchen to have the sauce separate rather than on the meal itself and then if (for some reason) that wasn't possible could she not had suggested that the meal be dry and to order a sauce separately? Even if I had to pay for a separate sauce it still would had been cheaper than what I paid, being £4.80/£5.10(depending on size). In all I just wanted a kids meal for my son as I knew he would not get a cooked tea that evening otherwise but all I got was overcharged and way too much food than what was needed, half of which went in the bin. My first and only experience on this chippy and I am sad to say I will not be going back. It isn't the money but the feeling of being taken advantaged of a little bit. I should had gone to the Chinese chippy and the bottom of Station Road, far better service.

Food was cooked freshly, batter on the fish was really crispy and the fish was to die for, portions were really big. Slightly expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Very generous portions. A portion of fish and chips is enough to feed 2 adults or 3 kids and the fish is always nice and chips are chunky and not scrappy like some places.

Great fish and chips. Ordered in advance and they were almost ready on arrival. The loyalty card was a bit tight... 1 stamp for £5.00 spent, I spent almost £50.00 and still only 2 stamps the first one being free)..

My auntie loves this place so I go with her sometimes. Sometimes the food is great and the service friendly. Sometimes the batter is soggy, the chips are burned and the service is slow. You never know which it's going to be. When it's good it's really good though.

Nice food, slightly overpriced, portion sizes vary depending on whos serving, £2.50 for chip barm is a joke especially when u get enough just to fill the barm. Fish is massive and very tasty everytime.

I used to drive miles for good fish and chips before I tried Billy’s (right on my door step) recently. Portion sizes are humongous but quality. Fish is lightly battered and crispy, chips are great, curry or gravy both really good. I also highly recommend the chicken and salad box or the chicken, salad and chip kebab on naan. Friendly staff and good service, in fact the only downside is it getting very busy sometimes, but you can now book a time slot and collect if you think ahead.

Best quality fish crispy and lightly battered, with perfect chips, crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. I'm visiting them since a long time, they never fail giving me a quality food and service. Staff friendly.

We had a lovely takaway lunch of fish and chips on Weds 5th August. Batter crisp and dry on fish and chips were great. Served in a box and easy to eat without getting hands greasy. My favourite chip shop in area and staff very obliging. Well done.

Really good chippy, everyone I know who's eaten here has said how nice it is. I had a chicken kebab, which isn't typical chip shop fare but it was still very tasty and a good sized portion.

Came here on advice from friends who claimed that it’s the best fish and chips....ever!Well after a portion of fish, chips and mushy peas...I certainly agree. I usually pick my fish out of the batter and leave the batter, but this batter was so light and crispy that I ate the lot! The fish was thick and moist; just as fish should be, and delicious. Will definitely be returning.

Don't go here all food cold and bland run by young kids who have no idea what they are doing will not be going again.

Came to try Billy's since its been taken over by its new owners.Such a lovely hard working couple. Good vibes when you walk in, looked clean, roomy and bright. Has a small sit down area too . Most importantly the food was lovely, we had fish and chips which were spot on, fish cooked beautifully. Will definitely continue to come. Thankyou.

Can honestly say, best batter I’ve ever tasted. Great fish, wouldn’t eat from anywhere else. The batter has the perfect consistency, crispy fluffy,light and cooked evenly. Great Staff and service. Very clean too.

I was very impressed with this chip shop. Leukio is a Cypriot who has taken over this shop. He is a young talent who has Been in this game for 15 years. The food is fresh and the staff are pledent and very friendly ready to meet your every need.I will definitely be returning to this shop as its the best chip shop in Glossop.I will be recommending his food to family and friends.

What do you expect from a Chippy ? Nice food and polite service is what I expect and is what i got. I tried a bit of everything as I like to know how the menu tastes and i wasn't disappointed by any of it . Would highly recommend to anyone to try it. The Cod was arguably the best i've tried and i've tried a lot :)

I truly believe that the employee's known as liam and lennie and great and very helpful, without liam's advance potato knowledge i dont think this establishment would be the same i belive they are worthy of a raise and i finally think they should let lennie handle the sausages

Very disappointed when returning after it has been taken over. The only resemblance is the name. A handful of over cooked flavourless chips, a dry Luke warm pudding, a meat pie which was probably cooked at the dawn of the century and no curry which was paid for on my order when I opened it up once home. Save yourself the disappointment and go a hundred metres down the road to a much better chippy . Am now going cooking something edible. Have only given it one star as can't give any less myself.

Fish and chips are lovely. New owners are nice and friendly and the food is getting better everytime we go.

Two certain individuals working here are rude and do not deserve a job in this place, one I believe I heard goes by Liam and the other I believe Lennie, they are rude loud and take the p**s if I’m honest will not be going back here until I know these kids are gone!!
