Totally love this place. So brilliant as on the beach. Surfer type vibe with all welcome. Food excellent, choice excellent love this place. Highly recommend, a must visit always when we are in Weymouth multiple times xxx

Really great atmosphere here, a chilled out vibe and loves the styling of the restaurant. Service was amazing, quick and the waitress was attentive. Only downside was the food itself was just ok, everyone got what they ordered to the specified liking but the squid rings could probably have done with being cooked a little bit more and the pizza was quite floury.but generally a good experience eating out here.

Food can a bit pricey- choose wisely ro get good value-but you pay for a lively atmosphere, a beautiful view and great staff.

Unfortunately we didn't have the chance to order anything today as the staff were too busy socialising, rather then doing their jobs. Arrived at 1:15 and was seated at 111, we asked where to order and was told it was table service only. Unfortunately we left after 45mins as no one served us. Poor service, I wouldn't recommend.

Visited here on a wonderful sunny day whilst on holiday in the area and had a great afternoon. We had cocktails, beers and amazing food! Highly recommend the Mackerel Caesar salad and the corn ribs - which were to die for! And what a view......cannot wait to return when we are in the area again! A*

Nice and simple food in a great atmosphere. Sadly, the service was appalling. Poor communication between the waiting staff; the manager or whoever was in charge that day (male chubby chap on the 29th/6/2024) had very cocky and condescending attitude, giving us non-sense excuses about the QR menu. Very rude!

It's a nice place with a good view and friendly staff also good with free parking! I got a cocktail and the pulled meat tacos. It was good but I was still hungry after eating so not as filling as I had hoped. Also the 3 types of soft taco shells weren't completely my taste.

Didn't have food only called in for a drink during a walk from little sea caravan park to portland. But wish we had more time to come back. Will definitely call in if in the area again. Such a relaxing feel to the place overlooking sea and food looked good.

Turned up at lunchtime and were advised it was a 10-15 minute wait and we were seated within that time. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The menu has a good variety of dishes and our group of 4 had a variety from both the main menu and from the specials, all of which were great. There was a bit of a wait for food, which was to be expected as it was busy, but the food was hot and clearly freshly cooked, so absolutely worth the wait. Drinks came quickly. Minor modifications were accommodated for with a smile, good allergen information was available and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for a lovely meal! And the view is great!

I visited Billy Winters in May '24 on my kayak after paddling across Portland Harbour. A walker who was walking the coastal path turned up at the same time for a cuppa and a cake. The girl acted like we were a massive inconvenience for her when ordering-this was about 2.30pm. When we asked about if they had any cakes, brownies etc, she sighed and robotically reeled off a list of the cakes, but said they were in the fridge or freezer so couldn't show me until I bought one. I don't know about you, but I'd like to see a cake before agreeing to purchase a slice as is the norm in cafes. I decided on a cup of tea, the small paper cup was only half full. It was proper weak and I was charged £3 for this! I know I'm a tight northerner but this is crazy for a run down shack! After finishing, myself and the walker asked where the toilets were in the cafe, we were told they didn't have any (Surely this breaks rules for a cafe/restaurant) and was told to walk way down the road to the public toilets. Being a solo Kayaker I didn't really want to leave my kayak unattended, out of view on the shore and trek down to find some public toilets so declined. We then looked for bins to dispose of our paper cups, the sides to shack had been shut this time and there was nowhere to dispose of cups-again like with the toilets surely waste disposal has to be provided by cafes and restaurants by law! An absolute dump and a rip off too with rude staff who don't want your custom

Great place by the bay. Just had drinks but a nice tropical "vibe" despite the outside weather being damp and overcast at the time of our visit.

Had the most brilliant afternoon at Billy Winters, to celebrate my 60th birthday. Georgia and her team couldn't do enough to ensure our large party of family and friends were well looked after, nothing was too much trouble. Location is perfect, food outstanding and the relaxed atmosphere just added to the special occasion.

Great beach shack! Good quality produce, nice and quick service and reasonable prices. Gluten free fish and chips!

Very relaxed and causal atmosphere. Piped music only added to atmosphere. Parking free if drinking/eating in roped off area in car park. Interesting specials board. Oysters now on menu from own oyster farm. No reservations so first come first served. Covered outside area most Mediterranean with lights. Check opening times as appears to shut early in evenings. Fantastic views over harbour.

After being turned away from another restaurant for being too late we stumbled across Billy Winters and we were so glad we did. We had a fab meal (crab tacos, squid and fishermans bap) but more than anything the service was over and above. It was a sunny day and there was a steady stream of new customers for the entire time we were there, despite it being the end of the day, however the staff were friendly and although short-staffed were constantly smiling and checking everyone had what they needed. One lady in particular was amazing, I forgot to ask her name but I think she was the manager, but the whole team were great. We want to come back already, but sadly live out of the area. Thanks for a great lunch guys :)

Superb place to enjoy the sea/view and enjoy the sun.

Portion sizes were small and we were all hungry after our meals. Also drinks order came out totally random and wrong. For desert we were sold a ‘Blondie’ which was actually bread pudding or something. Looks like an American crab shack kinda place but just lacks the filling food and efficient service of such.

Staff were amazing, very friendly. We all had a great night. Thank you

This is the place to chill out and relax after a hard morning of sight seeing . We sat in the sort of covered lean to which kept the crisp sea breeze at bay . The service was excellent and quick. The young lady taking our order was cheery and a font of knowledge about the area. With some cool layed back music wafting through the family-friendly atmosphere complimenting the delicious homemade apple slice and coffee. The dish of mussels on the specials menu looked and smelt devine. All with a fantastic view of the sea.

Really enjoy this place, food drink and great ambience, lovely.

At first it was a 5* experience with attentive staff and good service until as a few more guests arrived and they were seated some staff went on a deserved break and after that the service was pretty poor. We waited almost half an hour and for anyone to come and ask if we we’d like anything else such as drinks or a dessert but nothing! Made even more frustrating as they keep saying relax it’s all table service… Other tables around us also got fed up and became frustrated. Food was pretty decent to be fair, fish and chips were slightly poor I was told but burger and our other food was decent. Overall we left rather disappointed which was such a shame as we’d been recommended this venue.

Vegan mushroom pizza was absolutely banging, QA we're the corn ribs. Super chilled place with views as good as any in the world. Will definitely be back when in the area

Served me disgusting gone off "fresh" muscles ate 5 and realised they smelled so bad now got dodgy stomach and instead of offering refund they offer replacement like I really want to eat that after the disgusting first lot they gave me, gave the replacement to the table next to us and left. Only good thing is location.

I would have emailed this review but the contact form on the website isn’t working: I ate there on 31st March. Paid £19.73 (upfront as is the rule). Then randomly got a refund on 8th April. And it’s come out again this morning as a “delayed charge”. Not sure what’s going on here but can you sort it out as it’s annoying having money bouncing in and out of my account weeks after the fact. While I’m here I may as well post the rest of my review that I couldn’t be bothered with originally. We’d sat for lunch and paid £100 across our table, then noticed the parking sign as we were leaving. Told the waitress we were just going to go for a short 10 minute walk so asked if we could please have a retrospective parking token as we’d just eaten. “No” was the answer. Plus the crab tacos were like 90% mayonnaise and just not very nice. Mackerel bap and the bacon scallop roll were tasty, in the interest of balance. Please sort your banking out. If a refund comes through again I’ll be instructing my bank to block you EDIT: It’s now happened to my wife as well with a different bank. But with no refund, so she’s just been charged twice

Great decor, super views and lovely friendly staff

An interesting cafe come light  restaurant. It is right on the beach, so nice to be able to look out to sea as you are dining. It is a semi permanent construction with a plastic awning covering - I assume that they open the side flaps in the summer or it would get horribly hot.  Food was good but quite pricey for what it was.

What a gem of a find this was. Just popped in for a cuppa on my travels. Very Bohemian and hip. Great vibe. Thank you all at Billy Winters 🙂

Sadly, after hearing many great things about this place we had a very disappointing breakfast visit today. We were a table for 4 and all locals on our first visit here. It started well as the place looked amazing. Had a great vibe about it and really quirky. You could obtain a free pass to display in your car window for free parking and the views across Weymouth harbour from the cafe are always stunning. No denying it’s a fantastic location. The young fair haired waitress from Halifax was an amazing waitress. One of the best, most friendly attentive waitress I’d ever come across. She was brilliant. We were the 2nd table to arrive that morning. The food however was not great. 2 of us ordered eggs royale, one ordered eggs Benedict and my hubby had fish and chips. It had been about 25-30 mins after our order was taken that we were informed there was no salmon so couldn’t do the eggs royale. It took about 30 mins and an empty cafe to realise there was no salmon in the fridge. Really! Two gents walked in after we’d ordered our food, making them the 3rd table in that morning, yet they ended up getting their cooked food about 15-20 mins before us. That annoyed us big time! The Americano, latte and cappuccino were ok, but just ok. It wasn't great coffee. When the breakfasts finally arrived all the poached eggs were rock hard and were luke warm (we had 2 eggs each on the egg meals). How difficult is it to poach an egg !! When asked how our meals were, we did mention this to the lovely apologetic waitress, who kindly offered us complimentary coffees and cake. Clearly very embarrassed. Again it’s not the best coffee, but was ok. 3 of us had the raspberry and white chocolate sponge as our complimentary cake, and all 3 of us left it as it was stale hard dry sponge that had clearly been hanging around in the cake chiller too long. Awful. Very disappointing visit. It’s put us off going again. £12.50 for eggs Benedict with rock hard Luke warm eggs….not a pleasant experience when eating out is an expensive luxury these days. I can see why they insist you pay the minute you've ordered your food now….so you can’t refuse to pay when the food is less than satisfactory! I found it hard to believe the owners also owned the Crab House across the road, where the food & chefs there are always exceptional

The worst coffee I have had in my life. I sent the first one back as it was lukewarm, the next was slightly hotter, but the quality was terrible.

Saturday afternoon trip to Billy Winters after a walk along the coast from Weymouth. Lovely pitstop for baked camembert, mushroom fries and mackeral baps, beers, cocktails and Bailey's hot chocolate. Lovely, friendly, cheerful staff, delicious food. We'll be back!

A very viby place... Customers of all ages enjoying great food.. a great vibe.. and tunes by the sea !

We went there this evening (5pm well before their closing time of 8) hoping to have coffee and cake. My husband went in there, saw the sign to "wait here to be served" so he did. Then a waitress there saw him and just ignored him. Not even a "ill be with you in a moment" sort of thing There was no one else there either they werent rushed off their feet. So we just left. Their loss for being snooty.

A very unique eating experience. The staff are friendly, helpful, and very welcoming. The seating areas are great, and the food and drink were amazing. Free parking outside and sea views to enjoy. I would highly recommend a visit here.

Amazing bistro and Café at Chesil Beach! An absolute MUST visit when in Portland or nearby. Fresh oysters, amazing crab tacos or fish n chips (also various veggie or meaty options available). Absolutely dog friendly and great to watch the surfers nearby.

We didn't eat here today but stopped off for a drink during our walk. Interestingly decorated with a lovely vibe and great seating inside and out with view's over Portland breakwater. We had a hot chocolate, bit disappointing as the over riding taste was off milk with not alot of chocolate. Dorset Pale Ale was very nice, bill was about £9.Good , friendly service and the food that came out looked fabulous.

Prices are over the moon for what has been served. Order Portland crab cocktail tacos £17 size of a small starter. Friendly staff and lovely views. Ok to try once but very expensive.

What a great place! Atmosphere is fantastic. The staff friendly and helpful and the food is top notch. The venue is such a nice place ti sit in a sunny afternoon and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere with food or a drink, great views too.

Absolutely disgusting the way one of the members of staff spoke to us! We parked where a member of staff said it was okay to park as it was free but didn’t mention anything about having food there. We are local people who come down all the time and go paddle boarding have some lunch in our camper then a couple of drink in there one we’ve dried off. That was the plan this time but the sheer abuse this man said to us let alone him aggressive manor I will be sure to not return.

Charged £17.45 for fish and chips and half a lager. The greasy overcooked brown batter with dried fish inside was dreadful. The man ( manager?) said he had a new chef and would give him a smack…no mention of a free drink, or money back. I am a local and quite disgusted..will tell friends not to go

Prices don’t match the menu online, add another 50% and you’re about there. No point going if you’re vegan/veggie unless you want to pay the same price to swap meat for mushrooms.

Had the crab tacos which were delicious. Staff are really helpful and friendly. Location is amazing. There is a small roped off area where you can park for free (need to get ticket from bar) if you park anywhere else you have to buy a ticket.

I'm very sorry that I can only give 2 Stars but the Korean burger that I had was over priced and not really tasty. The wings tast just like Peper so it wast korean. The burger duration almost entirely of the wings, which was a shame because there was no other taste that could compensate the pepper flavour. The chips wer good. In total I paid around 21 £: for the Menu 17.35 £ and for a Coffee around 4 £. The atmosphere was a littel bit beach and bar vipe. The service was a littel bit slow.

Great food, really good quality and lovely setting by the beach. Strangely they have a limited menu for food to take away but serve food on takeaway plates - would be the only recommendation to change!

Absolutely love this place, although we came on a windy wet day still amazing views, then followed up with amazing food, and the friendliest staff we have met, don't miss out on the place!!!

First time there but won't be the last. Excellent food, friendly staff and a lovely view over the sea. What more could you want? Despite the fact they don't take bookings in advance we managed to get a table easily (just before 12) and late arrivals didn't appear to have to wait long.

My family and I went here twice during our time in Dorset. We had both the monkfish and crab tacos which we really enjoyed. My young son had the pizza, which was quite tasty but nothing impressive like the other dishes. The service is expectantly slow and inefficient though it is a laid back place. It is in a fanatic location next to the sea. We love skipping stones after lunch here.
