Bickleigh Mill in Mid Devon

Took my family here for dinner and I think it’s the first time I’ve given a 10/10. The staff were very friendly and the food was lovely. We will be definitely returning .

Lovely cafe woth incredible range of sweet treat cakes with GF options too. Friendly helpful staff, who were great with kids. Good little gift shop that goes up quite a few floors.

Came here to purchase a gift for a friend. A good variety of products to choose from. The shop was tidy and the staff were happy and helpful.

On a coach day trip. Coach was booked only for an hour It is vety small in various places inside Tho hundreds of lovely items n gifts, evrrywhere, at times, it was a struggle to pass each other. Resturant areas being large was comfortable n pictures on the walls were lovely Staff polite n helpful MY delight of the hour was the peacock l saw wondering outside. I took quote a few photos lt came so close to me. Parking is limited n for cars The outlook was lovely all around n the grounds. It really is amazing place.

Had a beautiful dinner here on the way to an Exeter appointment. Delicious steak and ale pie together with a vegan blue cheese and mushroom pie. Had to finish off with apple crumble and custard. Could've had my additional speciality of ... custard on top of vanilla ice cream ;-) No, not the other way round! Lovely outside area, with relaxing view and covered catering too. For children, next door there is a Railway Attraction with rides on miniature trains. What we particularly found good was the wide range of gifts for all ages and we've come before specifically to buy that "special" gift. The shop is arranged on three floors so it's unlikely that you won't find anything.

Good place to visit. Lots to see.

Service was very good, food is good, the surroundings beautiful.

SUPER slow, unresponsive, "won't make eye contact or stay a min longer at the table so you won't ask any questions " type of service (or lack thereof). VERY child unfriendly, not proactive in asking do we need a high chair , we had to ask for everything with zero initiatives from the servers. Food was mediocre 😕 at best. Won't be back

Super afternoon cream tea, would highly recommend a visit.

Yet another pit stop on the way home. I like this place, especially in fine weather when I can sit in the garden. Just coffee and teacakes this time, but done nicely.

A delightful experience! Food on Sunday afternoon was absolutely delicious, with the roast potatoes and cheesy garlic ciabatta a standout. All of the food was really good, and service was friendly. Lovely atmosphere, will definitely be back!

We decided to go here for lunch. It was nice that there wasn’t only a carvery offered as there is with so many places around Devon on a Sunday. It is such a gorgeous place, with a 3.5mile walk to Tiverton for those that wish, very dog friendly (which is always a winner) and some lovely items in the shop area too. They’ve left much of the old mill components up so you have a really lovely atmosphere in the building. They have a gorgeous front outside area that was quite busy, with a beautiful and quite serene back patio too. Inside, where we sat, was lovely, quite cosy and lots of space between tables which was nice as the dogs didn’t have to be on top of each other. They had a fairly limited a la carte menu with delicious food! We had roast beef, pork shoulder, lasagne and a gorgeous pie. Food was to a really good standard. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Prices were quite reasonable. We spent £115 and had 4 mains, 2 extra sides, 4 desserts, a coffee plus drinks (soda, pint, 2xwines and iced coffee). I would certainly recommend stopping here or booking if you want a nice destination place to eat. There are quite a few single steps up and down inside moving around, but outside in the front garden area is flat for wheelchair access. Sadly I forgot to get pics of the food! But it was very good.

Thank you for meeting all our dietary needs! I'm veggie and dairy free and was spoilt for choice. So many options for vegans. The falafel and veggie tart and hummus were all delicious! Choice for children not bad unless you have a child that doesn't like chips 😅 Kids sandwiches would have been a good option for us! But with kids eat free we made it work. Staff were friendly and helpful too.

Ladies at the bar were slow and took ages for us to be served as they had the backs turned to us, and were sorting out the tills. Good atmosphere, apart from the service from staff.

Notice says wait here for service we waited heard conversations about scones etc. Staff simply ignored us until I called out for service. The only redeeming feature was a new young waiter. come on Bickley this was not like you. Lady in the main shop is aways polite and charming

This was a good stop for us, we were on our way back from Tiverton and decided to call in there are some good shops here with the normal quaint gift shops. There is a good little cafe/restaurant which sells cake and has a dinner/lunch menu also, the cake was great and the food coming out looked really good and apatising. Definitely a place to go back to if in the area.

Great place to meet family, lunch was ok fish N chips.

Coffee served cold, although they did reheat it. My cheese scone had far too much sugar in it. My wife's fruit scone was so dry that we fed it to the birds. Sorry, but I think this establishment has declined.

Very interesting place to visit based around the old mill buildings.Good selection of shops and a very good restaurant.

This is a restaurant/cafe attached to a gift shop. A good choice of meals and at lunch if reserved a set menu at a very reasonable price.

The shop is really interesting, it has very good cards, mugs, socks, candles & smellies, bags & other leather products, extremely cute baby clothes and old fashioned toys. Everything is of good quality. The cafe was quaint and the staff friendly and homely, although the cake was dry.

Stopped for a coffee and a browse, lovely mill with lots of character

Had brie, bacon and cranberry sandwiches, warm, with latte and shared cream tea. 1 fruit scone and 1 plain. It was delicious

We enjoyed an afternoon tea at the café here. Both the food and service were great. Interesting shop for gifts and nic naks.There is an outside area for when we have nice weather.A peacock can often be spotted wandering around the garden.

We needed to spend some time out, and had an enjoyable time, browsing through the shop, then had a very nice cup of coffee and cake.

Great place for afternoon tea and a wander around the gift shop. The scones were huge with generous portions of jam and clotted cream.

Lovely turkey lunch. Everything was lovely and hot.we had ice cream for afters which was just mouth watering. Staff are really helpful.

Tasty food, good value and friendly staff made this a very pleasant place for Sunday lunch.

Although very quiet due to cancellations we were made to feel welcome, whereas other establishments may well have cancelled our table . Food was lovely and the host went out of her way to ensure we had an enjoyable evening . Would recommend , it’s the personal touches that can make all the difference!! Only 4 stars for atmosphere not due to venue but because lacking other guests to add to atmosphere .

A friend and I visited today and enjoyed a lovely roast turkey lunch. Hannah and the other girls were very polite and helpful. We then visited the shop which we always enjoy. You can find a gift for anyone and the Christmas decorations are always lovely and I buy one or two special decorations every year. Another great few hours at Bickleigh Mill. Thank You.

If you're a tourist you will love this area. The cream tea was always a treat. One of the things I miss the most about living in England.

Great service from the shop-i purchased an item which turned out to be faulty. Their response was speedy, and remedied quickly. The shops is full of interesting finds and split over three floors. Easy parking and pet friendly. Cafe was also lovely, good coffee and cake

Went here today after a lovely walk at the canal. The soup advertised was vegetable and corn chowder. The soup that arrived was a tiny bowl of thin broth with a few vegetables and a handful of frozen corn. 1 slice of bread and butter. £8.50. Not value for money, and definitely not a chowder. I won't be back!! "Chowder is a thick soup prepared with milk or cream, a roux, and seafood or vegetables. Oyster crackers or saltines may accompany chowders as a side item, and cracker pieces may be dropped atop the dish. Wikipedia" In response to your curt reply, if you are serving vegan dishes, don't name it chowder, also not wise to serve 3 pats of butter with it. There was no mention of vegan on your blackboard. Definitely overpriced dish.

21 of us celebrated my sons 18th birthday. We ordered from a pree order menu which had loads of choice. The food was excellent everyone was very happy. They catered for the dietary requirements. The service was excellent. .fabulous time had by everyone.

Absolutely stunning establishment! The service is perfectly friendly and on point, the food was divine and the Riviera Room we are staying in is cosy , luxurious and had a warm but modern charm to it . I would highly recommend a delightful Devon experience at the Bickley Mill.

Really not for me, cluttered, hard to believe there was actually a mill here, smelt like a school dinner hall. We didn't stay to eat or shop, a 10 minute browse was more than enough. Disappointed.

Excellent place here.. lovely for meals.... and the shop is delightful. Great to find something different 👌.. things can be quite expensive though, but if you love shopping, you will not be disappointed.. all sorts of wonderful things to buy. Great choice.

Lovely coffee and caramel slice, in a beautiful setting. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Visited again today, 17/7/23. I enjoyed a lovely sausage sandwich and coffee, sitting in the garden in the sunshine. A special mention to the waitress who served me, she was new and still learning the job, however she was really polite, welcoming and cheerful. She seems a real asset to the business. Enjoyed a lovely return 112ml motorcycle ride to here. One of my favourites. Very friendly service, lovely latte, and teacake in a lovely setting.

Beautiful setting with the mill, really fabulous food...we only needed a quick bite so had the homemade soup (tomato & courgette) and the vegan sausage goulash. We are meat eaters but just fancied something different and were happy we did as both tasted great and very reasonablely priced. Our server, Robin, was so attentive and helpful. The shop next door is glorious, it was lovely to see the peacock strutting around the courtyard, the wishing well needs a bit of attention...we wished for that ;)

Went for breakfast which was great with prompt and friendly service. Will definitely be going back again. Location is atmospheric with a lovely shop and location to wander afterwards.

Always quite good. We usually go for take away coffee and cake now as we live close by. It’s good enough to go routinely. The breakfasts and service is also good if you get a chance. If the weather is nice I recommend sitting outside as the peacocks are a good draw and I recommend it just for that. Dogs are allowed outside and there’s a little forest and River Exe walk just between here and wedding venue behind if you get a chance. The shop is also quite good for small gifts.

Lovely Sunday lunch - first after lockdown!

My wife Grandson and me had lunch yesterday ,I must say the staff were knowledgeable, well presented ,this relates to how clean the kitchen is . I had haddock and chips nice to taste homemade tartare sauce My wife had pea ,mint rissot,taste of that was really good we loved how the food was presented ,we eat outside which was really clean ,rare these days We had 4 bottle's of elderflower presse which was served with ice in a lovely clean glass with no water marks or finger marks well done. I have been a Chef for 50years .we will be back Kind regards John Evans

Stopped off here again en-route to our holiday in Devon. Great choice of reasonably priced food. It was busy when we were there but the waiting staff all had smiles on their faces and did a Stirling job. A great place to eat !!

We went for my Wife and her Twin Sisters Birthday. With her Daughter and Boyfriend. We all had a Cream Tea ☕. One of the Diners were Celiac so had to be careful what to order. The Table was cleaned down properly to be sure everything was ok. Also the food was gluten free. We really enjoyed what we had.👍👍😁😁. Then followed by Ice Creams 🍦🍨all round well nearly. We also had a good look around in the Shops. And bought some nice things for Home. The Staff and Waitresses were Fantastic and Professional 👍👍😁😁. Look Forward to Calling Again. Surprisingly quiet today. Easy found a table outdoors, plenty of tables indoors. Had a delicious cream tea. The peacock was strutting his stuff around the tables.

Very slow service and limited vegetarian menu. Staff mostly friendly, very cramped in for a large prebooked party. Some ingredients weren't available in dishes but prices still the same and greatly changed the dish.

Staff pleasant enough, service very poor, my partner's food came out and mine was 10mins later, only half a cup of coffee, and order was incomplete, considering the prices the portions were very small.
