Bentleys Restaurant in East Dorset

When we moved to the area in early 2020, one of our neighbours told us that Bentleys was his favourite places for a Sunday carvery. Then came Covid and lockdowns, so that we have only now been able to try it out, since its reopening last month. We were very much looking forward to it and, whilst it was OK, it was a little disappointing. Firstly the complimentary hors d’oeuvres. One small rectangular plate was presented to us, but whilst the quantity of what was on there was fine for two, the actual components on it were one chicken skewer, one spring roll and two small, but different, tarts, meaning that, other than the olives and feta, everything had to be cut in half to enable us each to sample everything! The carvery itself was neither the best that I have ever had, but nor was it the worst. I was impressed that the beef was cooked as beef should be, and not cremated, and commented as much to the chef. As this was unusual for a carvery both my wife and I went for it plus some turkey. I have to say that the turkey was very nice, but the beef was rather chewy. Vegetables were OK; I thought that the roast potatoes could have been a bit crispier and the Yorkshire was pretty rock solid. For dessert, my wife chose the lemon meringue which, I think was a good choice, because I went for rhubarb crumble and custard and found the crumble topping to be almost as solid as a pie crust. I'm afraid that it is unlikely that we will be rushing back.

Went for the carvery on Mothers Day. Friendly staff and the old chef is back and the food and portions were excellent. Highly recommended

We booked to attend a party at Bentley’s Restaurant, Dudsbury Golf Club, paying fully (£45 each) 6 weeks in advance of the event. As we are extremely vulnerable, health-wise, we decided to cancel this booking 5 days before the date of the party, motivated by the growing Covid emergency. Bentley’s rejected our request for a refund, either in part or complete, siting grounds based on ‘clause 3’. Given the rapid escalation of this pandemic wave, we feel that this decision is wholly avaricious and totally lacking moral largess. Their culinary and hospitality offering may well be excellent (though from reading other reviews, maybe not), but we’ll never know

Attended a function here staff were rushed, customer service poor food mediocre don't waste your money very expensive with little to show for it

Lovely piano player and food greatly let down by rude uncaring customer service, will not be returning.

We visited the venue before booking to check out the menu all looked fine on the surface so we booked at £45.00 for a set menu and coffee plus entertainment. Arrived shown to table , table next to ours collapsed beneath them, people were moved. Waited 20 mins no one asked if we would like wine finally ordered bottle , waiter put it on table unopened and still corked, he walked away. Ordered food but items on menu were not available very disappointing. Alternative was bland and cold poor quality. Service throughout dinner was awful had to ask for water bread etc. Music started only to stop half way through . No explanation given this was 10.30 p.m. The evening was supposed to stop at 12 p.m We just sat there wondering what was going on asked a waitress she said its finished. We were not even offered a proper explanation or drink in the bar due to the fact they cut the evening short. What a valentines disaster, we felt like it was take the money and run or fawlty towers evening. We were a group of four and had been looking forward to trying Bentleys, well we cannot recommend it, can only imagine it must just be a group of regular people writing good reviews as i haven't had an evening as poor as this in my life !! Absolutely unacceptable shambles of an evening no service , food mediocre , good tribute act but entertainment stopped with no proper explanation why it was cut short. Terrible way to run a business.

Great eatery - good food - pleasant surroundings - ample parking - professional staff - 5 star all the way

Pleasant and comfortable accommodation,excellent food and helpful,attentive waiters. Good carvery selection nicely prepared and presented. Very enjoyable experience all round. (Visit was part of party of 19) Background music (not live) not particularly fitting for a quiet mealtime affording comfortable conversation. Car parking facilities are good.

Fun eve with group of friends. Food good as ever. Dj excellent. Service very good. Christmas party nights far superior to the Tribute nights.

Bentleys is a beautiful Restaurant.The decor and setting is lovely. We went for a festive meal last night and have to say was quite disappointed to find it was a carvery Although decorated for Christmas there was no atmosphere there at all.The experience of being waited on is something we were looking forward to and having more of a choice of what to eat.I cannot actually put my finger on on what was wrong, but nothing seemed quite right. There was a piano but no piano player which would have been nice while we ate.To be quite honest apart from the lovely surround we might as well have gone to a Toby carvery.

Booked for Sunday lunch and on arrival the car park was pretty full but there were spaces over the far side away from the entrance. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The menu offers a set three course Sunday lunch, we chose melon and a salmon & prawn starter. For main course we went to the carvery which offers a super choice of meats including beef, pork, turkey or lamb. The staff on the carvery are very generous with the meat. We also had a choice of Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, carrots, parsnips and all the condiments plus gravy. For pudding we chose chocolate brownie and creme brûlée Good food and friendly service.

Welsoming staff, despite being too early for lunch a member of staff rushed off and brought us a menu to look at. Coffee was very good while we waited. Then requests taken and given to kitchen, very quickly our freshly prepared and delicious meal appeared.

This is by far our favourite restaurant to go to. You are made to feel as if you are the only ones that matter. Everything about it is wonderful. The ambience is incredible, the staff warm and friendly, service to die for. And the food .... superb. Highly recommended

Great value for money with an upmarket atmosphere. Enjoyed the dining experience accompanied by soft background piano music. Service was excellent food very good .Spent 4 hours dining and chatting with our group. No pressure to leave so found the experience very relaxing.

The food is very basic and not very exciting. There was a long queue to pay at bar at busy lunchtime. Noticed a hygiene violation.

Up until my last experience, where an appalling Christmas day Lunch experience for 6 costing close on £700.00, I used to find the food and service to be good.I have to say the Christmas day experience was awful. You were informed at their greet and meet that only one drink per person was allowed, that if you wanted water (bottled) you had to pay for it, not one complimentary drink on the table and food on the day that was likened to a pub lunch. Clearly the order of the day was to make as much money as possible. The back ground music played live by a pianist would have been better placed at a funeral and the table service from one young lady was clearly demonstrating that she was unhappy at working Christmas day.Our greatest gripe however is that the management and directors have totally ignored two letters of complaint. Clearly if you do not receive good service or value or quality of food you'll have to now lump, it as they no longer care. Shame really as my family and I have been loyal clients for over a decade and feel that even the amateurish of organisations would have at least responded to a letter of complaint. Still, many other good places close by to choose from who want your custom and show it.

This is the 6th year that we have held our Christmas lunch at Bentley's. Our experience over the years has got better and better. Parkinson's is a condition that can make our members very vulnerable and the staff go out of their way to make this day very special.This year we were a party of 98 and the food served from the first table to the last was as always piping hot. We would come here again for Christmas Day as the atmosphere and quality of food was superb .Service was excellent.

Had the Sunday Carvery, with my family including a two year old, the staff were attentive, nothing was too much trouble, may us feel very comfortable, even time for a drink in the bar before hand .The food was excellent, well cooked and unlike many carveries the vegetables were firm not the normal mush.We will be back, either as a family of just my wife and I , great value for money, a 5 star experience.

I have given this review "terrible" because at any time, especially at this time of year diners / clients expect much better. I was part of a large group visiting for a "Festive meal" on 6 December. The tables were beautifully set out, the ambiance / camaraderie within our group was excellent. What a pity the food was lukewarm on cold plates with skinny portions of vegetables. Service was almost non-existent with just two serving all the tables. (There was another group in addition to ours) Those "Festive Lunches" as we are very well aware are bought-in from caterers at a much lower cost than we, the clients are asked to pay, so why don't local establishments put some real effort into ENSURING good service, hot food and plenty of vegetables. £25 for two courses is rather a high cost for disappointment, bad service and a poor meal. If Bentley's simply don't know the correct manner in which to organise a "Festive meal" perhaps they should ask advice from The Old Farmhouse in Burley where they appear to get it right with a minimum of effort on EVERY occasion and produce a really good feast. My experience at Bentley's has ensured I'll NEVER dine anywhere as part of a group again. The bad /sad thing is this...these establishments take bookings, are assured of a very good income during the festive season yet simply don't put any effort into making it "an occasion" for their clientele. It is quite wrong to take group bookings and fail to provide a good service and a jolly good meal. It's unprofessional and discourteous.

Wonderful service, made to feel special. Equivalent to the best London restaurants but London prices, but worth every penny.

We have eaten here several times and the food is always good. Not outstanding but good value for money. Menus are not adventurous but are usually varied without being spectacular.

The room was well laid out but the drinks table by the entrance caused a bit of a blockage in the area. Good service and buffet food okay, I think the sandwiches should be separate for meats and non meat,but all was labelled.

Good meal but could be so much better, pate followed by roast beef and coffee. Starter OK but main was poor with undercooked beef and somewhat touch, thankfully coffee was hot.

Went here for our 50th Wedding Anniversary. Meal was excellent, service very good and EXCELLENT entertainment.We were surprised to have a 'swing' type singer who was very good, some guests were quietly singing along, as we all knew the tunes. A really good night out.

We have visited many times over many years with various sizes of party. The food had always been good and the service willing but slow.When we arrived we went immediately to our table, we wanted to be able to see as well as hear the musical act - Amy Baker - with her song of the 50s and 60s. She was good The service was disorganised and amazingly slow. Our drinks and starters arrived accurately and promptly. Then almost an hour before our main courses showed. Nothing wrong with the meat content but the vegetables were essentially potato and potato relieved by a small carrot with part of the stem still on.More delays ad disorganisation then the pudding arrived. The menu said warm pear and almond flan - it was cold. Supposed to be with ice cream we got cream and sprinkles. The second attempt was better.Overall not a very enjoyable experience, the cost was £31 for three courses.

Visited today for serve yourself carvery. Over two hours. Food great but serving staff pretty useless. Second time not even offered bread.

Visited Bentleys once again yesterday for a Mother’s Day treat...The food and service were both first class as always. Looking forward to our next visit.

We when to Bentley s for a after funeral reception which early afternoon, i have never had such an odd selection of food on the buffet especially as this was for a funeral reception . The food was cold and had clearly just been taken out of the freezer not a good experience.

Booked this restaurant for a family Sunday lunch and asked for a table by the window which we got and it provided nice views over the golf course.The staff were friendly and attentive, they took a drinks order and brought us menus.We chose our starters and ordered salmon roulade, pate and melon.For main course we went to the carvery, there was a choice of turkey, pork, beef or lamb which was carved for us and then we chose our own vegetables from the extensive selection. There is a separate table with gravy and condiments.For pudding we chose from the menu, profiteroles, fruit salad, cheesecake and apple strudel.Total bill with 5 soft drinks around £120.

Had a reasonable meal. Think it could have been hotter and just a bit more on the plate for the price.

We had a lovely lunch here today,very good attentive service. We came with our good friends from London who join us for a few days for the NY celebrations each year and have been doing so since the beginning of the millennium. Lunch here is a lovely way to relax after the festivities if the night before.Lunch at the carvery was delicious as was the dessert. However, we were disappointed with the starter, which was described as a seafood cocktail including prawns, sea bass and sole. We " fished" around but, alas, only found prawns and that was the same with 3 of us having this starter, a shame.RegardsJill Cox

Superb location, great views, very attentive and friendly staff. Sadly the meal (a carvery) let the whole thing down, although the starter and dessert were excellent the meat from the carvery was not, both lamb and beef were tough and short in flavour but the pork was very good, cannot speak for the turkey as it wasn't tried.Luckily we were a sizeable birthday group having a good time so the shortcomings did not detract from the occasion.

Bentley restraint. Had a meal there as a foursome with friends. I recommend wholeheartedly good food and friendly old fashioned service ( not totally disinterested teen) attractive surroundings will look forward to going again.

This is my go to restaurant for a Sunday lunch, its a nice carvery the staff are very friendly there is a pianist and if you get a window seat theres a great view too. Whats not to like.

It was parents 60th wedding anniversary & their choice to go to this venue. Having not visited for 10 years (for my own wedding reception), I hadn't been since.Amy was my contact for the venue. From the time my parents went to look at the venue & pay the deposit all the way through until the bill was paid on the day, the whole process was the smoothest I've ever known.Amy was the perfect organiser for the occasion & there was nothing that was any trouble for her to arrange, from family members who wanted something not on the menu, to a family member who decided they could come, the day before, Amy arranged it all with no fuss.There were 23 of us & we were given The Boardroom for our celebration. The table layout was perfect, with the tables dressed with cutlery , glasses & name place cards (with food choice on), that you would expect to find in a fine dining room. We were offered the use of a CD player, a cake table, with cake stand & knife & the general atmosphere of the room was perfect for our celebration.Amy surpassed herself by going out of her way to offer to take family photos outside, even though the wind was such that we all looked windswept!! Amy's attentiveness to the needs of her customers was second to none, thank you so much for all you did to make it a memorable occasion & thank you also to the waiting staff whose service was excellent. The food choices we made were lovely & was cooked to perfection.In conclusion, the occasion was one to be remembered.

We have been to this restaurant several times and never failed to dissapoint.We love the food, service, entertainment, level of comfort and atmosphere. We have been to several functions in the upstairs restaurant and always found the food an service very good. Dis go to the new bistro the other day, oh dear, slow service, average food, will not be going back

So pleasant being able to relax in Bentley's bar prior to being taken to our table. At lunchtimes on a Sunday it is a carvery, but there are other menu options available if required.Starters & desserts are beautifully presented.The staff looked after us well and it was lovely to have a pianist playing.

I went here for a friend's 70th birthday end of April on a Sunday lunch and it was excellent. The service was excellent, the food lovely and the ambience of the place was superb with a pianist playing in the background. Lovely atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

Celebramos una llamada funeral. Tuvimos la suerte de poder reservar la habitación de Brabante, que dio nuestra privacidad fiesta. Había un montón de plazas de aparcamiento. La habitación contiene entre 25, brabant para 70 personas. Nos quedamos encantados con el buffet, para 14. 95 por persona que recibió un delicioso buffet que incluía tarta, jarras de té y café y alquiler de la sala. El gerente de eventos era Amy excepcionalmente servicial. El vino de la casa en 15. 00 una botella es muy buena, (especialmente el blanco) y compramos grandes jarras de zumo de naranja por 6 libras cada uno. Amy no importa cuando más personas de lo esperado llegaron, y añadimos a los números en el último minuto. La habitación estaba muy bien presentado, con manteles blancos y asiento encantador mesa cubre. También tiene su propio bar. Nos excepcionalmente satisfechos con este evento, el lugar es muy cómodo. La única advertencia es que es mejor reservar. Así que si su evento es una llamada necesita encontrar la disponibilidad de la habitación antes de decidir sobre una fecha.

Invited to a friend's birthday celebration evening meal here. Not eaten here for many years and this was a first under the Bentley's banner. Food was excellent, service good with very attentive and pleasant staff. Well worth a visit.

Went to Bentleys to meet up with friends on Sunday and had a lovely meal. Had a starter of prawns with wonderfully cooked carvery meal. Lovely ambience, the staff were wonderful and the whole experience was lovely would definitely return again.

Fuimos a despertar en el funeral en la tarde Bentleys buffet. Un montón de comida una variedad de sándwiches de pescado pan blanco y marrón, carne de pollo huevos queso, etc. una gran variedad de pasteles para aquellos que necesitaban un rush de azúcar, café, té, zumos de frutas, todo incluido. Brindis con champán para agua fallecido en la mesa. El bar estaba abierto para aquellos de nosotros que queríamos bebidas alcohólicas. Estábamos en la sala de juntas muy bien establecidos personal muy cortés y adecuadamente sin ser morboso o reverendo miserable.

A menudo he comido en este restaurante en la noche, pero me atendieron una llamada funeral en la sala de juntas para una llamada funeral. La comida siempre fue una excelente variedad de sándwiches de pescado carne o vegetariano, gambas pollo, etc., amplia gama de pasteles, etc. un montón de caprichos culinarios comida café y té zumos de frutas. El personal era muy amable, cortés y adecuadamente teniendo en cuenta la ocasión reverendo sin ser morboso o miserables. Para aquellos de nosotros que necesitábamos un refresco sin alcohol el bar estaba abierto y creo que no buen negocio! ! ! ! !

Bentleys restaurant is a traditional British restaurant, the staff are professional and curtious, there is usually a singer who does do requests. the menu is good and the food is very nicely presented and tastes delicious!!!

Visitamos un domingo con amigos, después de haber sido llevado allí anteriormente y lo disfrutamos. El ambiente es estupendo un pianista tocando suavemente, mientras que comer en un entorno encantador. Las mesas tienen manteles de blanco inmaculado y el personal es muy atento y servicial. Mi esposa y yo fuimos a Bentleys de cena de San Valentín. Era un menú especial, que era "inclinaciones románticas", pero no era demasiado. Empanadas queso Camembert para ambos, seguido por una pechuga de pollo bien cocinado con verduras, luego el postre de una cesta, con brandy snap frambuesas y crema batida. Luego nos tomamos un café para terminar. Tenían su pianista, que era agradable pero no entrometido, en suma, una tarde muy agradable. Sin duda consideraría nuevamente, si estuviera disponible el próximo año.

Fuimos a Bentley con otra pareja el viernes 3 de febrero y rd pareció desierta. Éramos las únicas personas allí por más de una hora. Más inusual. Nuestros amigos tanto optamos por el confit de pato que me dijo que era muy bueno. Ojalá lo hubiera hecho lo mismo que mi pescado estaba recocido y duro en el exterior. Mi esposa tenía el cordero que también era demasiado cocido y seco. Ambos tuvimos el 'budín toffees' que en el pasado ha sido excelente, pero este parecía ser un brownee de algún tipo con un poco de salsa de toffee derramado sobre el piso. Nos quejamos a la camarera en el tiempo y me preguntó si era algo diferente, porque no era nada como el pudin que estábamos acostumbrados. Yo no me pregunto después si esto podría ser la razón por la que estaba tan desierta.

Cuando llegue está en una bonita zona con buenas vistas del campo y campo de golf. Puedes pedir la comida (buena selección) en el bar con sus bebidas y cuando la comida está lista es comprado a su mesa. Ambiente muy relajante, aunque no es bastante a veces. Fue una buena relación calidad-precio.

Había 10 de nosotros reservamos en el acto de homenaje 'El Jersey Boys', que por cierto eran fabulosos.Cada uno en nuestra mesa expresó cómo la comida era excelente. Tuvimos una gran variedad de platos. Las verduras se reponía el plato de momento quedó escaso. El restaurante estaba completamente lleno, y fue notable cómo la comida era fabulosa, teniendo en cuenta que tenían que atender a muchas personas.El ambiente era genial, bailamos también! Vino a un precio muy razonable para un restaurante tan encantador.Disfrutamos tanto que vamos a volver para el almuerzo 2 o 3 platos durante la semana que viene. Se lo recomiendo encarecidamente. Personal amable y eficiente.

Once de nosotros, se sentó en una de las mesas circulares, bien ubicado y con espléndidas vistas del campo de golf. Todos disfrutamos de tres cursos, el primer plato era variado y delicioso, los campos principales, que estaban divididos entre pescado y carne nos dieron un sobresaliente por todo el mundo. Los postres eran de nuevo que todos disfrutamos. El ambiente de la habitación era hablador y animado sin ser más ruidoso. El personal era paciente con un ambiente desenfadado y al mismo tiempo profesional. He visitado Bentleys en varias ocasiones y nunca me ha decepcionado.

Cada Navidad/Año Nuevo la suegra le gusta tomarse sus 4 hijas y asociados para una comida familiar. Este año, como en años anteriores fuimos a Bentleys porque el personal es siempre amable, la comida es siempre una muy buena relación calidad-precio y buenas porciones. Así que si estás buscando un lugar para una comida familiar o una cena tranquila para 2 ¿Por qué no probar Bentleys. Sólo para terminar Izabela es un activo muy servicial y atento a todas nuestras necesidades.

Went here with friends one evening. The restaurant only had 2 other tables in use. The food was enjoyable but a touch expensive . If it is a special occasion then perhaps you would not object to the pricing but I wouldn't return.

Puedo decir que nuestra comida de domingo ayer fue la mejor comida que he probado en mucho tiempo. Todo fue "perfecto" y normalmente no uso esa palabra mucho. Nuestros aperitivos, platos principales y postres eran una maravilla y nos encantó cada minuto de nuestra estancia allí. Sin duda volveremos.

Una vez en la calle por un par de años la semana pasada pero el mismo antiguo club de golf de clientela. Aunque la comida era abundante y razonable precio de la carne estaba dura, y siempre encontramos este lugar unedible muy antipático, supongo que tantos nunca cambian.

Teníamos una mesa muy bonito cerca de la etapa que resultó ser un poco demasiado cerca cuando el sonido llegó. Tuve que tomar mi audífono. La comida fue servida y presentada de una manera muy agradable y estaba bien preparado. Este seguido por el entretenimiento que se podía pedir bebidas, y algunos bailes. Mucho mejor que venga estrictamente baile. Una noche muy agradable todos. El entretenimiento era ABBA.

La comida en Bentley's es siempre el mejor los alimentos disponibles. Los asados del domingo son un asador encantador donde el chef rebanadas en frente de usted, y si quieres puedes decir "Vamos, un poco más, por favor! ". Hace poco visitamos para una comida familiar, ya que normalmente es tranquila. Sin embargo en este particularjueves en septiembre éramos los únicos en el restaurante. Por desgracia,debido a la decoración y la comida normal es caro para lo que es. Unfortunately, our visit to Bentley's was disappointing.The venue lacks ambience. However, the place is well suited to the over 60s. The style is formal.The starters were bland. The service was thin (staff seemed over stretched) and the live music (mainly jazz) wasn't easy on the ear. My wife didn't stop complaining (to me) all evening.My main course was dry. No condiments were offered. My wife's lamb was tasteless.However, the Profiteroles were excellent. Hence, the 3* rating. Credit where credit is due!I am not sure if I can recommend Bentleys. I think the retired generation (for example, my Dad) prefer this type of venue.

Visited for reunion lunch on a Saturday. Considering the numbers catered for the standard of food and service was very good. All the starters mains and desserts arrived in timely fashion, no errors on our table and attentive service with good clear management. Our waitress, Millie, was a delight, thank you. My one tiny comment of perhaps attention, was the serving of sparking wine and champagne. This was first poured into a metal measure then into a glass, at one time into a wine glass rather than a flute, not the staffs error more the management's concern. And perhaps finish service of it with a strawberry, the least I would expect, otherwise a faultless afternoon. Thank you to all who looked after the NARPO lunch.

We recently visited Bentleys with friends for the three course Sunday carvery menu and really enjoyed the experience. The choice of meats was excellent and the vegetables well cooked and plentiful! The three course menu gives great value for money and the service we received was top notch. There are beautiful views over the golf course and with a great selection of wines it was a lovely way to spend a few hours.

Mi hermano y cuñada tenía su 50 aniversario de boda en Comida Bentleys un sábado por la noche. Al llegar la primera impresión era que tendríamos una velada encantadora. Sin embargo, ese no fue el caso! Hemos esperado mucho tiempo para ser menús dieron y tuvimos que pedir para ellos. Después de elegir la comida que esperamos más de una hora para llegar sólo las comidas para ellos desaparezcan a otra mesa!! Tuvimos que preguntar cuándo podría conseguir la comida. Cuando llega parte de la orden que faltaba, así que tuve que pedir. Las patatas eran tan duras que incluso un cuchillo bistec no podría cortar ellos!Había un dúo tocando música la mayoría de la noche, lo cual era agradable, pero demasiado ruidoso - hasta gritar a mis amigos así que podíamos oír los otros no ¿por qué queríamos tener una comida cuando!!Yo hice contacto con el restaurante para hacerles saber de nuestra experiencia, pero no me han respondido!No creo que esta será una experiencia que quiero repetir!!

Really couldn't fault this place, great setting, lovely furnishing and music, great food, fab service. Had our two young daughters with us, chef was more than happy to simplify the menu for them.

Muy tarde para el almuerzo después de ver a mi nieta en un espectáculo en Bournemouth en que la posibilidad de un almuerzo tardío.Completamente lleno, pero pidieron esperar diez minutos nos llevaron a una mesa con vistas al campo de golf. Have visited Bentley's on several occasions and have had lovely three coarse meals for the price. Very friendly with piano background music to accompany your meal.

Lovely venue. Excellent service and beautiful food with three choices of meat for the carvery and loads of vegetables, stuffing, Yorkshire Puddings. Wonderful.Thoroughly recommend. Very reasonably priced. I will definitely return.
