Best chippy ever - staff are lovely and the food is amazing

This place used to be the best in the area, the prices were higher than elsewhere but you always had good quality food, I have no idea what has happened in the last year or so as the food is terrible, I know places have a bad period now and again, so i decided to give it another go as they served excellent food previously, the food was rubbish again, now 2 months later against my better judgement the wife ordered from there, The kebab meat was rubbery and didn't seem cooked (had tikka chicken) the chips were a mix of hard and mushy, and the salad on the kebab was old, the tomatoes were squiggy and tasted sour, They do not seem to follow instructions when given, I will never use this place again, I have been using it for over 30 years and it's only recently it has become the pits for food,, premium prices for inedible goods, and don't use their own website to order, I only live half a mile from it and they want 7 pounds delivery where uber charge 2.79. leave this place well alone and let it die in peace, either that or the owners who may be new ought to sell it on and get someone in there that knows what they are doing and knows how to cook.

I found a hair in my food, And the staff was so rude, Avoid at all cost.

Portions can be small for the prices

I have just received an order of 2 pies and regular chips. I have never been so disappointed in a meal from there. The chips were hard and I think they had been cooked a while ago and were kept warm, the steak and kidney pie wasn't too bad but the beef and onion pie was really dry inside,again it seems like it had been kept warm for a while. Delivery by Uber was prompt.

Even if your not sure about kebab food they offer a sample to try, also the cleanliness of the place is pristine.

We hadn't used this place for a long time, but decided to try it out again. We weren't disappointed, the food was great and reasonably priced.

Just been and purchased two large mixed meat and chips and I must say very disappointed the food tastes vile not sure what oil is being used but I will never eat there again

Always get my fish and chips from here, cooked with or without batter the chips are excellent, the fish is pretty big and the kebabs delicious.

Bentley Fish Bar consistently delivers hot and fresh food, but their vegetarian options are quite limited. Despite enjoying their veggie burger with chips, I wish they offered a more diverse selection for vegetarians. I rate them three stars overall.

This chip shop is horrendous since it’s refurbishment, I seen the cook the Asian guy drop chicken pick it up an put it in the Bain Marie instead of putting in the bin , 2 out of 4 of us was sick after eating from here they shud be ashamed of them selfs

Having waited in a queue to order chicken fillet burgers meal a customer further down the queue ask them to save her some chicken which they did when I then placed my order for my meal I was told they had no chicken for my order but saved chicken fo someone else which I think is absolutely disgusting I use this place regularly but to be treated in this way I find totally wrong and I will think twice about using this place again after being a loyal customer

Normally the best - today absolutely awful - asked for chicken kebab - got doner meat - cold chips and roe horrible. Never known this from here. Really disappointed

Lovely chippy use to go here when lived in Bentley now I live in Devon I come with my partner when visiting family and always pop in for food . Keith is always helpful and chatty always gives my partner a free potatoe scallop.

Not the best I'm affraid, chips were just a bit plain fish batter also not the best. Wasn't terrible but I do prefer my local place. Update: June 2023 better than before. Just the chips with some Chinese curry sauce.

Asked for a meat and potato pie with chips, £2.80 for the pie which was inedible it was so hard I could not cut it. It must have been heated numerous times so disappointed but it went in the bin. Money I can't afford to throw away as it was supposed to be a treat for me. One pensioner very unhappy I wasted my money.

Too much oil (fish) Why you are closed during lunch hours is a misunderstanding.

Bought 2 roe on Saturday just after 12 for my elderly moms dinner she ate 1 but the other one was off it tasted terrible had to throw it in the bin and my mom was sick that night will not go there again

Fish not coocked well, even not a cod fish, its cheap fish serving, waste of money, never gonna come back...

Absolutely disgusting fish and chips. Use to be the best .No it's all gone downhill. Went they today and my fish and chips was all stale. Not going back they're again. 😟

We have been using Bentley Fish Bar for over 3 years now and drive 3.5 miles as we think it's the best chippy around, always a good choice of food available. Very clean shop and equipment. Staff are very friendly and chatty. Would definitely recommend

The chips were undercooked. The plain kebab was really spicy. had this many times with no problem. My partner is allergic to spice to which she had a reaction. Most of it went in the bin. Really disappointed as I’ve been using Bentley fish bar for a long time

Disappointed , chips were chewy and they were fresh out the frier but tasted like they had been warmed up , fish was slimy , ( the cat wouldn't even eat it ) and the mushy peas tasted of vinegar, waste of £15

come here on and off it definitely will be off from now on, all 4 meals were cold and went in the bin, the chips were hard and cold, the pie was so hard you could not get to the inside, I could go on, it's gone down the pan, in times like this your money counts £20 gone down the drain or should I say the bin,

Brilliant fish & chips on a quick visit back home

Having used this chip shop for many years and being completely satisfied previousley, over recent months it has become a lottery as to what you get. They seem to find it impossible to put a kebab together to how you ask for it. Today we made sure the girl serving at the counter wrote my order down before passing it to the kebab maker and still I get tomatoes that I didnt ask for and mint sauce instead of mint yoghurt . It really aint difficult!

We travel 30 minutes each way to use this chip shop. A choice of chip that are alway fresh and hot all the food here is excellent and the staff are so polite and friendly

Mixed kebab meat is only a choice of two when they sell three, they charge per squirt of sauce on chips, greasy batter and lifeless chips. Gone down hill

Been going here for 30+ years and can honestly say quality and qty have massively dropped in last 5 years slowly but prices have still increased to jokingly high prices, £4.40 for roe and chips???? seriously???? elsewhere £2.50 - £3 better quality

4☆ for the food. 1 for the server. Didn't listen, got our order wrong. Didn't get one of our items. Had issue with our Scottish money, which was quite embarrassing. Went back for the food we didn't get and the gentleman (the owner I think) gave us extra for free and was very apologetic. She needs to learn some customer service skills.
