Delightful and cozy little cocktail bar. I love the calm atmosphere, tasty and affordable cocktails, and the attentive service. One of my favourite cocktail bars around the neighborhood.

It is well known that one Michelin star HIDE offers some of Mayfair’s best dining, but on the basement floor down the flowing oak stairs is also a gem of a cocktail bar, the aptly named The Bar Below. The bar is an oasis from the hustle and bustle of Mayfair, with a cozy atmosphere provided by dim lighting, dark wood and a charismatic bar team. Even compared to the always-packed restaurant one floor up at Ground, and the exclusive tasting menu only-space at Above on the first floor, things are more laidback at The Bar Below. The Bar Below is dominated by a long, craggy wooden bar top which makes you feel for a moment that you are in one of J.R.R. Tolkien’s novels. From the sculptured counter, you can glimpse the majestic backlit back bar and yearn for the pricey bottles within the locked cabinet. Working in collaboration with the founding chef Ollie Dabbous and head chef Martin Carabott, the bar team includes group executive bar manager Oskar Kinberg, bar manager Rui Costa, assistant bar manager Ambra Lombardo and head bartender Jeanne Mathieu. There are 15 signature cocktails at The Bar Below, with Kinberg’s list striking a perfect balance between originality and smashability. It's hard to beat Erik Lorincz's twist on the Bloody Mary at Kwant, but The Bar Below's Cross-Eyed Mary (16 GBP) gives it a good run for the money. With vodka fat-washed olive oil, Fino sherry, and clarified tomato water with spices this savory, yet sessionable Mediterranean rendition of the Bloody Mary is a divine way to start your drinking adventure at HIDE. Although there is a bias towards lighter and fresher cocktails to complement the food at HIDE, there are also boozier options for the seasoned drinkers out there. If you aren’t tempted to unlock the liquor cabinet to enjoy one of the fine dark spirits at The Bar Below, consider the stiff Holy Water to finish your evening. With Macallan 12yo sherry oak Scotch malt whisky, Companero rum, Amontillado sherry and Palo Santo, this rich meditation cocktail is the quintessential night cap at HIDE.

Well considered cocktail bar with attentive service.

Came here for a couple of drinks before dinner in Mayfair. The drinks were nice, very cool on a menu to see the strength of the drink as well as pictures of how it's served. Price wasn't a mile away from what I'd expect in the area. Venue was 10/10 though, the atmosphere in the bar was great. The one thing they could do with is bar snacks. A few nuts or crisps would go a long way. We were given some olives but they weren't nice at all. Either way, it's a great venue. Added to my list of places I'd happily come back to.

No better place for a little chat with those experts behind the counter, with a glass of designer cocktail or two🍸 Definitely tell them your favourite taste or flavours (berry flavours for me). We tried another cherry one and it was so amazing 🍒🤩 I left my LEGO work - bELOW- there specially for this bar as well!

Lovely, intimate bar, serving excellent, bespoke cocktails. Pricy? Yes. Worth every penny? Definitely. We had the Lucia Fernanda, a refreshing tequila cocktail which on the 2nd round we opted for mezcal which added a touch of smokiness and elevated the cocktail even more. We also had a white negroni which was presented exactly how it should always be, speakeasy cool and elegant. Will definitely be returning when coming back to London.

Friendly high end cocktail bar, great staff and excellent drinks menu.

Excellent service. The Happy Distraction and the martini-ish Tale of so and so and the desserty Fifth chamber were all great cocktails. Nice music and great decor. For the Happy Distraction I would actually not mix the boozy pineapple with the drink and just have it separately.

I have visited many bars in Mayfair but this is probably one of the best. The atmosphere was magical and the bar staff attentive and committed to great service. Despite the exhaustive list of cocktails, the Italian bar manager was able to recommend just the perfect drinks for me and she also created a new cocktail exclusively for my friend 🏳️‍🌈 . She made us feel special and her kindness did not go unnoticed. She showed us the wine selection and rare champagnes, it almost felt like visiting another country. We will be back soon to try the food menu!

Best cocktail bar in London, says I. Not a whole lot more to say. Can be cramped, busy, and dark, but that's not always a turn-off. Beats the Ritz and any other offerings around it. My go-to, that's me at the corner table drinking margarita.

Everything was fine, except for the terrible and arrogant customer service provided by the manager. When we were ordering food and asked about the Burrata dish, one of my other friends was describing Burrata to us as being in the cheese category, and the manager got very defensive because she is Italian and kept aggressively telling us it's not a cheese. When we asked whether they had truffle fries, she forcefully continued repeating, "We are a Michelin Star restaurant, we don't serve fries, if we did, I wouldn’t be working here," in a harsh tone. We ordered a bread selection and were given a flat bread that had pork without even mentioning it to us because we don't eat pork; when we told her we ordered a bread selection, she gave us an awful look. This is unacceptable; we are paying customers, and this is a terrible way to portray the organisation. She made us feel like we were low-status and shouldn't be here, like the ugly ducklings. It was so bad that I will never return; as the manager of a well-known bar in Mayfair ,this is not how you treat paying customers. We didn't pay £2 or £3 for our bill; we paid about £200. What a pity,

The cocktail bar is one of the best places I’ve been to in London. Decent cocktails, great ambiance and friendly bar tenders.

The bar itself has a nice decor and very polite staff. Unfortunately the cocktails were really disappointing, especially for such a high price. My drink tasted like a watered down plum juice and I couldn’t even detect the taste of spirit in it. The prices on the menu don’t include VAT and there’s a 15% service charge too, so a regular drink will cost around £20. Given the lack of quality, it’s simply not worth the money.

Interesting drinks selection even found one I like and I don't really drink. That said the clientele was a snooze. The staff are friendly though.

A lovely intimate cocktail bar in the centre of town. Servers are expectedly well versed in their vocation and gracious.

Atmosphere and surroundings - wonderful. Cocktails - Average and overpriced. The bar itself has a great vibe and it's a lovely setting for a date, special occasion or evening drink. However, the cocktails were not what I was expecting. Generally they tasted like diluted fruit juice. The staff were lovely and competent but the cocktails were not what I was expecting from a central London restaurant with a good reputation. I ordered a classic standard cocktail, (side car) and was charged £21.50 which seemed excessive for a drink that was pleasant but not particularly well-executed. The wine list was great but limited. If you're happy to spend £19+ per glass you can have some lovely wine. Overall I wouldn't recommend the bar but I'm sure the restaurant itself is worth attending.

I went to have a drink with my husband, what a lovely restaurant & bar! I definitely like here, great vibes. My husband likes to order some cocktails out of the menu, bartender knew how to make it, and made it great one, its important to my husband, show how outstanding quality of the bar is!

I really needed the loo, but couldn't not have a drink in the characteristic place. So charming, and reasonably priced.

Managed to get here before first lockdown, almost by accident. Mind blowing cocktails involving clarifies milk, smoked sage and many more. Staff were great hosts, knowledgeable, passionate and polite. Prefer it to the restaurant!

A must try if you are visiting london - we opted for the champagne option at £27 per person and two drinks is probably just the right amount for the time you are in there. Could do with another bar tender as the wait was noted by my guests.

Had visited previously a few years ago but decided to treat my daughter. Fire bar was lovely and we had a glass of wine before our slot in the ice bar. Capes donned and in we went. The theme does change and this time was mythical creatures including Thor. The last time I went it was basically vodka shots but was nice to see cocktails and other spirit based drinks on offer. 40 minutes is plenty of time and we whimped out after 30 minutes which was enough for us. When I visited previously there were ice chairs and tables which added to the experience which I would like to see again but unfortunately this time there were not. Still nice experience and I will visit again.

Visited the Ice Bar a few years ago and it was magical. Returned again this month and was impressed with the outside as this has greatly improved as too has the Fire bar inside. Actual Ice Bar is appalling, 'sculptures' are pathetic, ice tables and chairs gone so just a room to stand in with nothing exceptional at all - a total disappointment. Staff were very friendly and although we got a free drink it still isn't worth the money of going here so save your cash!

We were given a Virgin Experience voucher and chose to use it to visit the Ice Bar.This proved to be an excellent choice . The voucher included a meal with a tasting menu at Yuu.We horoughly enjoyed both experiences.The service was exccellent as was the food The actual Ice Bar was great fun and drinking out of Ice glasses was certainly different.All in all we had a great evening and have already recommended it to friends.

Four of us booked the Icebar in London for an experience, and it was an experience.We arrived, had to wait a few minutes for the previous 'batch' to leave, put our warm coats & gloves on, and in we went.The ice sculptures were large and very well done, the cocktails were tasty with the added fun that the glasses were all made out of ice.Plenty of photo opportunities, cocktails nice and quite cold but not too cold. Don't make the mistake my wife did and try to rest her ice glass on one of the ice sculptures and watch it slide off. Luckily, her husband (aka me) used to play cricket and performed an amazing catch near the floor with only a tiny bit of her cocktail spilt hahahahaIt is worth a visit, but after you've visited it once, it is unlikely you'd visit it again.

This was my second visit to the Ice Bar with a different group of friends. It's not what I'd call great night out but is worth the visit for the sheer novelty! On this occasion we were greeted by our Bartender who explained what would happen and what we could expect. This didn't happen at our first visit and was a welcome addition. Cocktails are all scrummy but don't expect a huge glass. The ice glasses are a great touch, especially for the people who try to stick them to the wall afterwards! All in all a worthwhile experience and not overpriced for the location and novelty.

We visited as part of my 30th birthday weekend in london. We enjoyed the experience as something different and a novelty but I can't say I would go again. I expected sculpture to be something more and it would have been better if they were London themed. I would recommend to give it a go as it was fun and something different.

It's an experience worth doing, although there weren't many people there on a Tuesday night, it did feel a little bit like walking into A supermarket's freezer. They give you a cloak and some gloves on the end of strings (like when you were a kid). The drinks come in ice formed glasses, (not big measures) the music wasn't exactly current but ok, we stayed 35 before the cold was too much. The staff kept disappearing to warm up. Hahahaha. A cool and cool place to visit.

Was in London for the weekend for my wife's birthday and staying nearby, so though I would book in here as "something different". Opted for the most expensive option of champagne & a premium cocktail (£26 per person).Arrived in plenty of time, but little point arriving much before your scheduled time. As the time approaches you get herded into a space of a couple of square metres before being given your cloak and gloves and waved in. Being first in line had the benefit of not waiting for a drink and having choice of what to look at first before the place inevitably gets pretty crowded.Took 10 minutes to finish our champagne, take photos and have a look at what we could get to, and then left. Little point in staying in once you've seen it and experienced it.Used our second drink in the Fire Bar instead; service was ok, cocktails mediocre. Paid for a glass of champagne for my wife as she didn't like the cocktail, was presented with a bill immediately which is no problem, except when we came to leave we got chased down the street telling us we needed to pay, somewhat embarrassing and pretty terrible service. The table next to us also had a bill brought to them despite having already having paid it once, and I vouched for them with the bar staff too.If you've never visited an ice bar before then by all means go for the novelty value, but don't expect crazy value for money, or anything life changing!

Bei -5 grad leckere Cocktails trinken und feiern. Für 40 Minuten kann man die Erfahrung buchen in einem -5 grad kalten Raum ein wenig zu feiern. Vorher und nachher kann man in die Lounge oder an die Fire Bar. Dann geht es in die ICE Bar mit leckeren Cocktails tollen Eis Skulpturen und Musik. Eine wirklich tolle Erfahrung! Muss man natürlich vorher reservieren! Aber es lohnt sich alle mal, so etwas erlebt man nicht alle Tage!

Nothing special, we got an experience from virgin media worth 100 pounds. Was definitely not worth 100 pounds. I’m glad I didn’t spend my own money cos I would’ve been upset. Ice bar was small, got one drink and then we popped out. You just literally look around and there’s like two ice sculptures. Then the sharing menu at the restaurant was not up to par. We basically had vegetables that I could make at home and two small meat dishes. 2 drinks and a vegetable sharing platter? Definitely wouldn’t recommend

Had a good laugh whilst having a drink in the ice bar. Every so often they change the theme of the ice sculpture. At present it's Norse mythology. After that a quick drink in the fire bar to walm up. Then a meal downstairs in Yuu Kitchen. Absolutely brilliant meal. Great way to splurge out on a family party.

The fire bar at the entrance really cosy, but on entering the icebar for the 40 minute experience was very disappointing, very small as was the miniature cocktail served! But enjoyed our time in there due to a lovely couple we got talking to.

Had a great time at ICEBAR London!! Though small the drinks we delicious... definitely go with the premium option cause you get more then one beverage. The ice cravings/sculptures were awesome and it has a very unique atmosphere!! We did not have drinks in the fire bar but it looked amazing! The outside seating to the bar is also very whimsical with its fur covered chairs and chandeliers in an open air seating!! If you are in London... take an hour, make a reservation and check it out!!!

Worth a visit. Quite novel Good to get there early and have a cocktail outside. 30 minutes in the ice bar is long enough. It gets quite cold. Glasses are made of ice too. They were very good at throwing the cost over you before you went in (which is included).

My husband & I visited the Ice Bar on Sunday afternoon. The atmosphere was very welcoming and the staff were very friendly too. Once down in the bar the theme in ice was great & the whole drinking from actual ice glasses was a very enjoyable experience. It wasn’t overcrowded & you could leave at any point.

Ok, so all of the bad reviews on here have merit, and if you're easily disappointed and have built this place up in your mind to be this amazing massive life-changing experience then I wouldn't recommend this. Save yourself the money and the ICEBAR the bad review.To sum up some fo the bad reviews I've read:1) Yes, the bar and general space itself is quite small2) Yes, the cocktails are in very small ice cups that can be a bit tricky to hold,3) Yes, there isn't much actual ice.HOWEVER: 1) The small size of the bar actually meant that you could see everything, get the photos in and actually do what you're supposed to do in a bar anyway and spend time/chat with the people you're with and have a drink.2) The Ice cups are a good little gimmick and the gloves you're given have grips on them to help reduce the risk of dropping them. It's all part of the fun.3) Despite there not being a lot of actual ice, it's still bloody cold, the statues of Thor and the throne you can sit on still look cool and the lighting makes you feel like you are in the arctic. I would also like to add that the bar staff were great at getting people their drinks quickly and making sure we all knew how it worked.So overall I have rated this as excellent because I had a really good time and saw it for what it was, not what I imagined it would be like. If you do the same, you will have a positive experience as well.P.S The firebar is a cool little place that provides some much-needed warmth after going to the ice bar part.

Booked the Ice bar to celebrate our sons 21st birthday.Booked on line which was really easy and tickets emailed to you.Entrance price includes a drink.You are advised to arrive 15mins before your time slot.You can gets drinks and food at the bar/restaurant.When it's your turn to go into the ice bar you are provided with a warm cape and gloves.when you first go into the ice bar it feels quiet warm.However after about 10 minutes you really start to feel the cold.The bar and glasses are made of ice.The gloves are a must as you cannot hold the glass too long as it is so cold.There are ice statues in the bar.There isn't anywhere to sit so you are standing for approx 40.minutes.Its an experience but nothing too exciting.I be sat in pubs that have been colder.Its a novelty.This was the second time I ve been to the ice bar and I dont feel I need to rush back.

We had a virgin experience here which cost £60 cocktail in ice bar was more cassis than champagne.cool to take some pics but very small and overcrowded. So left after 20 mins cocktail in fire bar after full of ice hardly any alcohol in it. Definitely felt we didnt get our moneys worth!

It was fun, we had a couple of really nice cocktails in sub zero temperature, stayed right until the end of our session as most people had started leaving half way through. Some nice sculptures and good photo opportunities. Had a couple more drinks in the fire bar afterwards. Well worth the trip.

Cool place. Lovely statues. Would like it more if it had seating inside the ice bar it's self. More statues and lots more ice. It feel too much like a club. But it is worth the visit as it is something different from any other bar in London.

We thought we would try the Ice Bar as we were eating in the area and had not been before. We had no idea what to expect but we ventured into the Ice Bar room which cost £14 per person including a cocktail. It's a very colds room (minus 7) we were told with ice sculptures and a small bar. There is little or no seating. The cocktail was okay and was serviced in a glass made from ice. We stayed about 15 minutes.We were given large thick capes to wear in the Ice room.An unusual (tourist?) experience of no real quality but unique nonetheless.

14£ per un quarto d'ora (sessioni da 45 minuti, ma dopo dieci minuti ci stavamo già annoiando) in 10mq e bere un cocktail già pronto, statue di ghiaccio carine, in linea con la location vichingheggiante, ma nulla di particolare.A parer mio non è valso i soldi spesi.Il personale è cortese, avremmo preferito,per la medesima spesa, bere un vero cocktail nella sala bar,ambiente piacevole e confortevole.I soldi spesi per un deludente ice bar e un cocktail pre preparato ci hanno fatto desistere dal fermarci ulteriormente.

This was the 3rd time I been in ice bar and I always love it! I took my friends there when they visited me, they was so happy to see.

Realmente decepcionado por toda la experiencia. Llegas y se siente como un mercado de ganado, te desvías a una pequeña habitación donde puedes caminar en 30 segundos. ¡Casi ninguna de las habitaciones es hielo! No hay lugar para sentarse y una mesa! ¡No se puede clasificar como un bar, sino básicamente una nevera grande! El tipo que daba instrucciones fue muy brusco, pero todos los demás fueron muy amables. Habíamos reservado el paquete de comida y luego fuimos a la cocina Yuu. El servicio fue excelente, pero los platos para compartir eran sosos y muy promedio.¡Hemos querido hacer esto durante mucho tiempo y nos sentimos como si fuera un anti clímax importante!

Nuestra segunda visita al bar de hielo y al restaurante. El tema del bar de hielo no es tan bueno como el año anterior, pero aún así lo pasamos bien. Tuvimos una comida en el restaurante, la comida era increíble, teníamos un menú de degustación y fue una comida fantástica. El servicio fue excelente, no podía hacer más por nosotros. El personal sabía todo sobre la comida que servían. Nuestro servidor Randeep fue muy servicial encantador. Lo pasamos muy bien y volveremos a cenar nuevamente

Great for photos but not worth the money. I went about 4 years ago and was so much better, I'm sure the statues aren't real ice either??? We enjoyed the normal bar and the bar staff are lovely.

my 2 friends and i were looking forward to seeing the Ice Bar and although a little disappointing, we had a good time. we arrived 15 mins before our slot and was given a cape when the time started. we were first to go in so i managed to take a few photos of a couple of sculptures and got our drinks. we loved the chunky ice glasses but the drink was quite small. the room is small and was quite packed but everyone moved around so we could take photos at each sculpture. after 25 mins, i thought id buy us another drink, as i thought we had 20 mins left but just as i paid, the staff announced we had 5 mins left!! some people left but we stayed to the very end (about 35 mins) but had to swig back our drinks. we enjoyed it as an experience.

Such a brilliant idea for a day out, well worth a visit for both the ICE bar and the FIRE bar, cocktails were unique and very delicious !!

I visited on Saturday, booked in advance £16.50 each for 49 mins and a cocktail. I was so disappointed, the 'ice room' is very small with about 4 ice sculptures so 40 minutes is far too long to be freezing cold. All staff really friendly though

I was bought the fire and ice experience for my birthday.thought would book a table at YUU prior. The team were really helpful and accommodating and juggled my booking so we could eat first then go for the drinks. The tapas style food was delicious. Really enjoyed it. Had a great time in the Icebar- not too crowded at all- plenty of time allowed in there.The fire bar had a great atmosphere and good cocktails.All in all a fun night out and would recommend it as an experience.

My partner and I visited for my birthday this year, but I honestly wish we hadn't bothered! After booking, you are advised to turn up 30 minutes before your slot, but once you're there they tell you to go and get your cape just a few minutes before your slot. We arrived pretty early by chance, so went to the fire bar for a drink. That was the best part of the experience, a nice bar, with good cocktails. The ice bar itself is tiny. We stayed about 15-20 minutes as there was nothing to do. It wasn't worth buying another small pre-mixed cocktail, and we'd seen all the sculptures within about 90 seconds. Just not what we were expecting, so we left early to go elsewhere. The staff were all friendly, but I don't think it was worth the money.

It's was my daughters 30th and 14 of us booked the ice bar to end our weekend away in London. The staff greeted us and were so friendly, we were given capes & gloves and a ticket which allows you 1 drink in an iced glass, although it appeared small it was very potent, we purchased another for £6:90 as we were having such a good time. The experience is 40 mins and we all thoroughly enjoyed it and had such a good laugh and got some excellent photos, loved it and would definitely recommend it for larger groups.

Amazing time. My friend LOVED it. She was so happy. Barmen were friendly and welcoming, even gave my friend a free shot as she was the hen! The staff before we went in were lovely as well. Couldn’t fault it. Will definitely be back in the near future!

A lovely fun experiance, great drinks and lots to photograph. The difference between the Ice bar and the Fire bar is very interesting Thoroughly recommend Polite and friendly staff

Visited the ice bar in at Winter Wonderland London. Great experience, and good value for money. On entry you are given a big coat, and gloves, and a token for a cocktail. Inside the ice bar you choose a cocktail of your choice , any more after that is £7 , for London thats not bad. Everything seats /bar even glasses are made of ice .Not a place you could stay in along time , 15 mins was enough for us, but worth the visit .

First of all, normally I don't like doing bad reviews. But I've never been so disappointed. We were genuinely excited to go the ice bar because of the pictures and good reviews. But when you get in, the room is tiny for the amount of people crammed in. My brother accidentally went through a no entry door because he actually thought there was more to it.There were only a couple of sculptures which really weren't that impressive. The cocktails are all pre-made and straight out of a bottle. It was basically juice! They give you a 40 minute time slot but we only lasted 15! The music was rubbish 90s pumping music which just made the whole thing laughable. How they charge you £14 for this is unbelievable. Like I say, I don't like doing bad reviews but this place is a joke!

I was so excited and booked it for me and my friends. The iceroom was a huge dissapointment. It was so small and crowdy and everyone occupied the bar. The drinkmaking was just a vodka bottle and a premade juice. You just stood there for 15 minutes with nothing to do because you seen it all in 2 sec. We left after 15 min. However, rest of the place outside the accually iceroom was very cozy and we stayed for drinks and som appetiezers and that was very good. The atmosphere was lovely.

The cocktails were really good inside the actual ice section as well as the outside bar. The atmosphere was really nice and there were people to take photos as well which was lovely. The location is in a beautiful little square with a lot of restaurants near by. The ice bar was very cold inside- as expected so would wear trousers or a long skirt because the coat does not cover below calves. Great for a birthday treat!

Actually shocked at how awful this experience was! We paid £33 for 2 which included a cloak, gloves, cocktail and 40 minutes in the bar. The outside is lovely and inside there was another bar which was nice too. But what we was taken into was a joke! The ice bar room was so small and dingy! There was a couple of Ice statues and 2 ice tables. A The cocktail you get is premade mix and small! My partners drink actually slipped off the table as the glasses are made of ice. We stayed for 5 minutes. DO NOT waste your money and time. I never write reviews but thought this had to be done to save other people being disappointed.

Having previously visited with my husband 2 years ago I decided to treat my parents and children as an experience!Unfortunately I found it very disappointing. Far too busy so everyone was just pushing into each other and not really anything to look at. Our pervious visit had lots of little areas with different sculptures where as this time it was just boring ice walls with 2 sculptures.Alot of money for nothing really!On a positive note the main bar before entering the ice bar was cosy and the staff very helpful. We enjoyed the mulled wine and the barman was keen to here that we enjoyed what he had created!
