Esto no es una revisión de la comida, vino o experiencia general, porque no llegamos a comer. Vinimos a almorzar, nos llevaron a una mesa agradable, nos dieron menús y luego nos ignoraron. El personal parecía ser inexistente, y nos dimos cuenta de que nadie estaba comiendo, y no se estaban tomando órdenes. Así que después de unos 15 minutos, nos fuimos. Update: Bellanger is back! Coq au Riesling, confit canard etc - once again my favourite restaurant in Islington Old review: Sad this was my favourite restaurant in London The charm is lost with the new menu and refit * Menu is just ok now although I haven't tried everything * Didnt need another Mediterranean restaurant there are billions * DJ booth??? That said the staff are still amazing and highly skilled

Very overpriced food which really lacks quality unfortunately. Make no mistake though, Bellangers atmosphere is one of a kind with very lovely workers. However these dont justify a visit especially during these financially trying times. A nice place i imagine to go for a drink and a quick starter.

Bring us back the old Bellanger ! Lunch menu has no cohesion (dinner not much more), weird selection of dishes, worse of all food is not well delivered (from fish to fries and breaded chicken). Bit of french, bit of austrian, bit of american, some asian touches, it’s a mess. No real comfort food - the opposite of what a « brasserie » is. To the owner/exec chef: chose a theme, bring cohesion and improve quality! Bellanger used to be the best of London, now it’s the worst expensive restaurant I can think of. We had a lovely waitress though.

Quality weekend brunch and beautiful French bistro atmosphere. Amazing service, kind staff and wonderful food at reasonable price. I will be back!

Lochlann, who looked after me during my restaurant visit deserves 10 stars, he delivered phenomenal, friendly, accurate service and was a joy to communicate with. The food, which was snails and the flat iron steak frites was excellent. Brava to chef, it was perfect. The ' off menu' Negroni's were delicious and the happy hour cocktails superb, and the wine on the happy hour menu was the best I'd ever had for £5. All in all a fabulous visit, and it proves, you get the front of house heroes right, you bank return visits. Thank you Lochlann, I hope I spelt your name correctly.

Unfortunately Bellanger now requires you to provide your phone number even if you are a walk in - I see no reason for this other than to collect data and in some way profit from it, so after a decade of being a happy customer my brunches will have to be enjoyed elsewhere. Sad days. Update... So perhaps the management listened, a year on we tried again and things were more cordial, food was fine and staff professional, still miss the old French style menu though, this new one is seems more generic.

I just had to leave a review and say that our server who was called Grace was fantastic and so lovely! It was my birthday and it was made very special by this waitress. Also the tall server at the end brought this out to top the night off!

We come here annually for a New Year's meal and it has become something of a tradition. Writing this review after one such meal today. The food is generally around 7/10; for the price, its good enough and the ambience is great. Our experience with the servers generally very good. Its in our neighbourhood so a place we like to support. Today, I had the misfortune of getting a fish (cod) which stunk of ammonia with the first bite. Standard red flag for seafood - this cod was likely decomposing. Rest of the party had no issues. Now these things happen and I know supply can be sporadic perhaps this time of the year (note to self - do not order seafood around holiday season). The reason for writing the review is how it was handled which I'm still annoyed about. The manager (I think, not our server) came back to the table and said that he discussed this with the chef who said it may have been the preparation and coming from the tomatoes - REALLY?? No chef worth his salt would ever say anything like that. Ammonia is extremely specific - there's no mistaking it. They basically said that I made it up and that I was fussing for no reason for not wanting to eat decomposing fish. So posting this review now as I suspect they will keep serving it today and tomorrow. I did tell the manager that it wasn't the chef but that they needed to check their supplier. So what did they do to rectify the situation? They asked me to order something else - I ordered a starter as by then I just didn't want a full meal seeing as others were halfway through theirs and they were kindly offering me bits off their plates. My starter came and that was uneventful. No offer to make up for this in any way. Fish got taken off the bill but not the starter I ordered (which was much cheaper - I didn't take the mickey here - and could easily have been comped). I really felt that it should have been comped for more reasons than one. No offer of any complimentary drinks either (I wasn't drinking anything alcoholic, so it wouldn't have cost them anything for that gesture). Overall, very poorly managed - I'm really surprised and not happy.

Utterly atrocious service. When we complained, the manager was condescending and useless. It was moderately busy but we waited almost two hours without a main course being served. We will not be coming back.

Was celebrating my brother-in-laws birthday, sat at the bar for about 5 minutes without acknowledgment from bar man, would have expected a ‘won’t keep you a minute’ at least. Once seated our drinks order was taken again had to remind our waiter twice that we hadn’t received our drinks 15 minutes after ordering. Our order was taken for starters and mains and the mains arrived before we had finished our starters and dishes removed! Throughout the whole evening used glasses and dishes were left on the table we me having to continually ask staff to remove used items when new ones had been left. Really not what we had expected from this restaurant and left very disappointed especially when service was included in the bill total .

Just wonderful late lunch, a bit pricey but deservedly so

Buen restaurante, aunque nos alojamos en el bar. Comembert al horno y vino blanco durante la hora feliz - fue una experiencia muy agradable. A pesar de que algunos otros lugares horribles forman parte de ese mismo grupo (por ejemplo Colbert, que para mí es un absoluto no - ir debido a un comportamiento inaceptable del personal ) , di una oportunidad a Bellanger. Debo decir que no me arrepiento de nuestra elección esa noche y tal vez regrese allí algún día.

We were told it was fully booked when we entered by the host at the door, even though it wasnt busy. We then booked a table online, and there was lots of availability. We then went back in to be told by the person on the door that the online booking system doesnt work. I then said that it stated that it will charge me for a missed booking, and they then finally admitted that the booking had come through and that they were able to cancel it for me. So the booking system was working! They had a spare table but had not allowed us to use it. It was an incredibly poor experience. I had intended to treat my family to a nice evening meal. I will now have a bitter taste when I pass this place, as I pass it often and have wanted to go there. What a bad impression to leave. Incredible how people operate in this way. Dishonest and disrespectful.

Slowest service ever. We waited ten minutes for a drink, ages for the food and the bill. The food was mediocre at best and quite pricey. It seems like a projection of what a high quality restaurant is supposed to be

Exceptional start to finish - can’t believe we haven’t come sooner!!! The service was amazing and it’s was the best cut of meat I’ve had in london which I didn’t expect for the lunch deal. Beautiful interior with great vibes! All the staff were so attentive and great. Can’t wait to come back!!!

Walked in without a booking on a Sunday evening .Hospitable and professional staff .Warm & fresh bread served ,tasty French onion soup .Creme brûlée was delicious and good quality house white wine .Would recommend and would return .

One of my couples held their reception here and I cannot say enough how wonderful it was! The private room and the ambience was excellent, and the staff were so accommodating and well mannered. The food was some of the best I had for weddings. Their cheesecake was the very best cheesecake I ever had. They cleared the room really efficiently to be the dance floor. with the way the mirrors are laid out in the room and how the room is lit, this place brings such a luxury feel to your evening.

Mi amigo y yo nos encanta este restaurante es local para él en Islington Más allá de un personal amable e impresionante, comida fantástica , que admite perros , gran relación calidad-precio pero un camarero excepcional Khaled obtiene una calificación del 100 % y también el gerente Esto es una necesidad si estás en Islington

I've visited quite a few times lately and never disappointed. The restaurant is elaborately decorated for the festive period. The staff are very welcoming and attentative. On one occasion we had a very bubbly, friendly young server and she made my elderly parents feel very happy and relaxed. There is a good variety of food and everything we've ordered has tasted delicious. The warm bread and salty butter before the meal is also very nice. My only critism is that the restaurant allows dogs (in the front area) and whilst I adore them, some can be quite noisy.

I went there this evening with my boyfriend and my father-in-law and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. Certainly it’s not a “brasserie” like the Parisian one but it was really good and the service is excellent. Big thank you to our waitress Grace for her smile, her humor and her availability. We had the duck and steak fries for two (the cooking was perfect). And for dessert, we had the crème brûlée (too thin for my taste) and the vanilla cheesecake which was truly incredible, surely one of the best I have tasted!! I will go back, that's for sure!

Cuatro fuimos a almorzar. Cuando llegamos nos dejaron parados en la puerta durante algún tiempo (sentirnos un poco tontos) sin que nadie nos tomara nota en absoluto. Cuando finalmente nos mostraron a la mesa no llegaron menús y tuvimos que pedirlos. No es un buen comienzo. Después de eso las cosas se levantaron. Todos disfrutamos de la comida que estaba muy bien presentado, fresco y muy sabroso. El vino por copa también era muy bueno. El servicio era amable y servicial y es acogedor para sentarse en si algo apretado. Nos gustaría ir de nuevo, pero tienen que ser más eficientes y acogedores cuando llegues, ya que crea una muy mala primera impresión.

Went for a late brunch on Sunday last with my partner. Delicious crab linguine and eggs florentine, served on hot plates with a crisply chilled carafe of the house rosé, all absolutely à point.

Had a very pleasant experience at Bellanger. I’ve never been to french restaurant before, however I was pleasantly surprised, with the food and with the service too. There was a bit of misunderstanding, but all was compensated by very welcoming approach of the staff. Id definitely come again. Czech approved.

I went to a fabulous Wedding reception in the private hire room. The room was perfect temperature, light and airy. Good decor, comfortable seating. The Wonderful atmosphere in the room was helped by the fabulous Staff who were, professional , attentive, polite, warm, considerate, friendly and good humored. Dietary requirements, were pre notified and the chef and staff went the extra mile to make us feel looked after.

We chose Bellanger for our wedding meal with our small party of 7. It was absolutely the right choice. The staff were fantastic, everyone really enjoyed all their food and the atmosphere was just right. We look forward to coming back in the future, it will always be a very special place for us now.

We had an excellent brunch at Belanger on Saturday, October 5th. The food was fantastic, and the atmosphere was perfect for a relaxing weekend meal. The staff were incredibly attentive and caring, making our experience even more enjoyable. A special thank you to our waiter, whose name starts with “T” (apologies for not recalling the exact spelling!), for his outstanding service. He was friendly, professional, and made sure we had everything we needed. We’d also like to give a big thanks to the manager in charge (the gentleman) for ensuring everything ran smoothly. Overall, it was a memorable brunch, and we can’t wait to return!

I had really good service here yesterday morning 29/09/24 by a waitress who was super friendly and even got our dog some treats! I didn’t get her name but hopefully you can thank her for how nice she was.

I visit Bellanger weekly, and it never disappoints. The staff are fantastic, always warm and welcoming, and it's dog-friendly, which is perfect for bringing my dog along. We usually kick things off with a glass of Crémant, and I’ve worked my way through most of the starters and desserts —each one is great depending on what I'm in the mood for. The weekday steak deals, especially with their house wine, is great. I also recommend the beef tartar and duck! If you're after a relaxed spot with great food and service, Bellanger is definitely worth it!

Grace looked after my table for a wedding, she was so so quick, so attentive and so lovely to speak to as well, as soon as my glass was empty she would fill it in a flash, her service was very friendly and very personal I couldn’t give her enough credit!!

Cena previa al teatro para 7 personas, por lo que el personal era muy atento amable y eficiente (puede ser un poco estresante el momento de estas comidas previas al teatro). Excelente G=T el tuve el "prix fixe" muy buena relación calidad-precio en alrededor de 20 libras: ensalada nicoise era un entrante generoso , el filete hache frites era excelente brasseries tarifa. No tenía vino, buena cerveza meteorito. Una buena fórmula: muy recomendable.

We were seated outside during a perfect weather. We ordered escargot, steak and frites and steak tartare. The mini baguette that was served with the escargot is really delicious. We also enjoyed the fries. Service was good.

I happened to walk by Bellanger when I was staying in London and I'm so glad I walked through the front door. Had a wonderful table next to the open window (perfect people watching) and the restaurant is beautiful - warm, cozy and inviting. I had the delicious steak tartare/salad/fries and a delicious drink (whose name I can't recall) followed by the delicious caramelized apple tart. The staff was fantastic (hope I'm not committing anyone): Adlen, Younes, Freddie, Vlas, Tall man w/glasses (always smiling) and last but not least Samantha, who made me feel like a VIP the entire evening! I was so touched when at the end of my meal, she walked over with a complimentary piece of cheesecake. I highly recommend Bellanger - the food is delicious, the ambiance is wonderful and the staff is fantastic!

Last Friday we booked a table to have early supper before heading to a show at Sadler’s Wells. I told the waitress when we arrived we were under a bit of time pressure, as we were going to a show - we had just over an hour. We ordered main courses only (all pasta dishes). We were asked if we would like some bread (for which there is an extra charge), and said yes. After half an hour our food hadn’t arrived, but several people near us who had arrived after us were being served. When I queried it, another member of staff (she may have been the manager) said the delay was because we had had starters. When I pointed out we hadn’t, she said that we had ordered bread. She then said the food would be 4 minutes. It arrived shortly after, but we had to eat quickly to get away in time, which rather spoilt our enjoyment of the food. We had a perfunctory apology, and no gesture of good will. Indeed, we were initially charged for two portions of bread although we had only ordered, and eaten, one. We have been going to Bellanger for many years, and before the refurbishment were regulars. Since then we have been occasionally, and it’s been nice (but not as good). I’m not sure we will bother any more - there is no shortage of good restaurants in the area.

Decent grub if a bit overpriced

We loved it! The setting was amazing and the whole service delivery was on point! Georgina (the manager) was a wonderful hostess and very engaging. We loved it so much we're booking again this week with more friends! Thank you.

Loved this restaurant mainly for its great ambience but the food was great too. Has the sea bass which was very nice, my friend the Steak Frites which were also good. Will go again.

We came for lunch with our family and friends after getting married at the town hall. The whole experience at Bellanger couldn't have been better! The staff were wonderful, the food and drinks delicious, they really went out of their way to accommodate us and we really appreciated it.

Not the same experience we had last time a couple of years ago. The “Sommelier” didn’t know their wines that well. The atmosphere was flat and service friendly but inefficient. The food was the best aspect-very tasty and well presented. Wouldn’t rush back.

I love coming here for brunch. The atmosphere is lovely, the location is really nice and the food never disappointed me.

The food was so delicious that I didn't even have time to take photos, maybe because we were also very hungry. We were most fascinated by the elderberry liqueur served in the form of a refreshing drink called St. Germain, perfect for hot days.

Unfortunately as a regular visitor of Bellanger I don’t think we will visit again. We sat outside, the waiter with tattoos was serving us as if he was forced to work with a gun pointed to his head. The tables were very dusty when we sat due the wind, but giving them a wipe before a customer is seated should be essential. I had the duck “main course” but it was a tiny piece of duck thigh served with half a lettuce. A good starter, but far from a main. Our waiter just left us outside and went inside, we want to ask for our bill but don’t know who to ask as we are unattended.

2nd visit , and the service along with the food and hospitality never fails . Will certainly be back

Had a wedding meal after getting married at islington town hall, and it was amazing! They were so accommodating & so much was included in the price for the private room! It was more than I thought would’ve been provided. From name cards, to decor, to helping secure a cake last min when a mishap happened. AND they catered to literally everyone’s allergies . Highly recommend! Will definitely be coming back.

Used to be my fav place before the refurbishment. Used to visit this lovely place every week but after the refurbishment every time I visit its getting worst and worst :( Service is not as nice as before, food is getting like a random high street restaurant, staff is acting weird. I would never thought one day I will give a 2 star to this lovely place. Just giving 2 star for the sake of pre refurbishment performance.

Absolutely amazing night out with my partner this week at bellanger. I’ll be honest, I was adamant to go because it is a quite location and I was not having the best day, I thought I needed a loads of chatter environment but I was mistaken. This place lifted my spirits, from the amazing live musicians voice and sweet melodies he played on his guitar, to the cozy both we sat in to the phenomenal knowledge from our waiter Ometrae ( I probably butchered his name & spelling). But he is the cherry in any cocktail, he has great taste in food and reading ones appetites, especially ours, when you visit please look out for him, tall, caramel complexion and wears glasses and say he is a legend!

We have been to Bellanger many times. Their food is consistently good and their service very attentive. Unfortunately they have recently added a loud singer, which ruins the calm and relaxed ambience. We dine out to talk with friends over delicious food and wine, presented by an attentive team. Bellanger do this well and the loud music just doesn’t work.

I really really don’t like leaving bad reviews, went in there yesterday 19th may lunchtime for 1:30pm, ordered vegetable soup wich was mostly baked beans and it was not nice at all , and roast of the day wich it was beef , so we ordered sharp on arrival , placed the order at 1:40 pm because we wanted to go to the Arsenal game at 4pm , so I asked 4 different staff for my mains pin 4 different occasions and 2:55pm decided to leave without eating my Sunday roast, not being mean but 1hour and 15 min wait for Sunday roast is really bad, and it wasn’t that busy. Disappointed

Wow. I thought I had gone to sleep and woken up in France. Stunning decor, polite and helpful waiting staff and delicious brunch. Most of us had one of the dishes with smoked salmon. The portions were generous.

Lovely place and the food was excellent - but the experience was made 5 star by the amazing service from Gracie! In 10 years of living in London I can’t remember having such good service.

This is a bistro style restaurant which serves decent French cuisine in a relaxed and yet classic setting. We particularly like their Steak Tartare, both as appetiser and main. Service is always attentive & good. The recent update to its deco is definitely a plus.

I had arranged a meal with former colleagues from the 1990s.  The oldest of us, who is in his late 70s, has had a difficult few months including a major house fire at his home. The meal was partly to cheer him up. It was the perfect place to have a reunion meal like this. The restaurant is large and the spaces between the tables sufficient to enable conversation without it getting too loud with noise interference from other diners and nor is there unbearably loud music. Food is very pleasant with quite a good prix fixe menu that is value for money. The wines are well chosen. Everyone in the party enjoyed the meal immensely.

4 of us visited Bellanger for dinner. It is an attractive stylish French restaurant in a good location. I had asked for a quiet table and we were given a circular one near the front. Unfortunately there was a very yappy dog at the next table and another nearby. None of us thought it appropriate to have dogs in a restaurant. There was a good wine list and one of us enjoyed a cocktail. My fish stew was lovely but the chocolate fondant was like dry hot cake. The service was patchy.

Really poor, massively overpriced, the dishes come ungarnished, everything is extra even bread, place is noisy and it's nothing like a French brasserie.

Absolutely love Bellanger! We are locals so we come at least once a week for brunch or dinner. It’s always an amazing experience. The staff are friendly and accommodating and the food and drinks are always delicious. The place is decorated to a beautiful standard and has a lovely ambience. There were a few hiccups when the restaurant changed ownership and the menu changed but the team and owners have made sure to iron out a lot of the changes- they added back several menu items that were removed. I just wish they’d bring back the chopped chicken salad, the eggs florentine, and the potato rosti for breakfast 🥲
