I’ve just been for an enjoyable meal at Bel Pease. The food was of good quality and nicely served. The waiter completed the evening with his charm and humour.

¡Delicioso! Solo lamenté no haber podido terminarlo.

. Reales hechos a mano no compran bases compradas! ! Definitivamente vamos a volver el próximo mes. mi marido incluso tenía postre que nunca tiene. Gracias Lorenzo por una maravillosa experiencia gastronómica una joya de lugar x.

We arrived and were shown to our table. We were then given menus to choose from, I picked a Prawn Cocktail and my husband had a Bruschetta - Both very nice. I then chose a fish and tagliatelli dish and husband had a pasta dish - both were very tasty. I had a glass of wine and my husband had a pint of lager. The owner and the waitress were very helpful. We found that there was a car park at the back for the restaurant, but access was not for the faint hearted, and very narrow access led to it..

Went not knowing what to expect and on a Groupon. Having seen a couple of Groupon reviews of Bel Paese, it's probably worth stating my take on Groupon. For me, it's a starting point, not the entire evening. A controlled cost to a greater degree. Well, I was pleasantly surprised. Firstly, the food was great. The frontage isn't the best, the internal decor isn't the best either but get beyond that and the 'restaurant chain' mentality most seem to need these days and try the place. The owner was a good bloke and engaging, the food, as said lovely. The evening wasn't expensive as a result of the Groupon so go give it a try. Local business and all etc 👍

Within walking distance this was somewhere we wanted to visit. With a 2 course for 2 people voucher we decided Sat night was the night. A cheeky gin at the nearby Bounissima enroute we were looking forward to our Italian meal. It delivered. A humble place with great food, Italian service and a welcoming environment. The voucher was very fair and we were more than happy to pair for the extras... Groupon is after all a starting point and not a free load code! We had a lovely meal and recommend this place whole heartedly to anyone wanting a proper restaurant dining experience and not a chain perfection meal that will go bust next week. Brilliant food and lovely local business that deserves to be patronised.

We were searching out paces to eat in Stapleford, and by a lucky chance decided to try this place, Bel Paese out. Its great! Quite quaint and small, run by really nice Italian folk, husband and wife I guess. The waitress was really fun and chatty, and made us feel welcome immediately. We had a starter of Antipasto, which was lovely, just as it should be, and the main courses were fine, partner has linguine and I had a chicken and prawn dish. All the food tasted authentically Italian and nice- really impressed with the chef. We chose the house wine, which was great, and very reasonably priced. We did get tempted by a dessert, which was also fine. This seemed to me to be everything a small place like this should be in terms of quality and value. I cannot understand some of the previous low score reviews. Based on our experience i would ignore them. Sure there is a glitzy posh place a few doors away, if that's what you need, but if you want proper Italian cuisine, this place is the real deal.

We went to Bel Paese last night and were given a great welcome by the owner and staff. 'Lovely to see you again' was our welcome. As usual the food was excellent and so was the service. We normally share a starter and in some restaurants this is not happily done but at Bel Paese this was no problem at all. In June we are planning a family reunion with our relatives who will be visiting from Australia and we will be taking the family to this restaurant.

My wife and I decided on an impromptu visit to Bel Paese last night as we drove back from work. We were greeted as soon as we got in by Lorenzo who was happy and bubbly. The restaurant was empty as it had only just opened. We had 3 courses each and the food was really good. Portion sizes were decent. I’ve lived locally for 5 years and never been to this one, but we will make the effort to go again.

Groupon says 2x courses. Half price chalkboard menu. We had 1 starter 2x main . One off chalkboard, wine and 2x desserts. Expected to pay for 1x starter, 1 x half price main from chalkboard and wine. Instead we had to pay for 1x starter, 1x half price main and Two desserts!!! And wine. Not stipulated on Groupon or on arrival by waitress that it has to be starter and main. A complete con! Most expensive meal ever! Owner rude! We live locally and have been here before. BUT NEVER AGAIN. THEY DESERVE TO GO OUT OF BUSINESS!

Was given a groupon voucher as a gift so gave the place a shot . Drove passed a great looking place along the road but sadly wasn't the same place we ended up. Walked in through a dodgy red curtain , the Decor was stuck in the 80's , wall heater on full blast so much you could hardly breath. The food was abysmal , drenched in oil and butter . Should be on Gordon Ramsey's kitchen nightmares for the food alone. How anyone pays full price for the food I'll never know . Had what we could stomach and left to go get some supermarket food. Go to amores in nottingham or any other Italian , better still just find a bin next to any restaurant and get the leftovers , it'll taste nicer even when not warmed up.

We visited last year, wasn't good then ,we thought 'give it another go', a year on as it used to be a really nice restaurant. I think the main was cooked with the starter and kept warm. I ordered a sirloin steak, medium, it came well done ( if I'd of had a piece of string I could have made a flip flop) the sauce was getting a cooling skin on it and served immediately after the starters were cleared.Such a shame, it used to be warm, friendly, cosy, no privacy what so ever, there was one other party in at the time, we could hear them, and they could hear us

It may be time to say that the small italian restaurant won't survive its rivals. Table for two on Friday night and when we got there just two other table of two persons in the restaurant so they were not busy. We both had the same starter mushroom & bacon & garlic in a white wine sauce well it might as well have been in flavoured water. As for the mains a chicken dish that had been overpowered with Tarragon and the sirloin steak whilst asked for this to be well done. It has been cremated on the bottom and then smothered in steak Diane sauce in the hope it would taste burnt. When my partner who told the owner of the restaurant his words being well done steak that is how it is....well not in every other restaurant we have been in. The gentlemen clearly could not give a dam and the fact that this was left uneaten he was not bothered in the slightest. The portion of the steak I did eat I regret as I was violently sick in the night and that was all that came up. So I will never recommend this place to anyone and would I go again then the answer is NO.

Italian restaurants and Gluten and Dairy free do not, at first glance, fit well together, but 'have voucher, will sample' was the order of the day as we booked for a Bank Holiday Friday evening. This cosy restaurant has 30 covers in what was the front room and hallway of an old terraced house, so slender bodies and quiet conversation was the order of the day. I was pleasantly surprised that it was authentic Italian cuisine with Italian chef, and offered something other than pasta. Having asked for Gluten and Dairy free, the stuffed mushrooms in tomato sauce came with Mozzarella cheese melt. The Chicken Cacciotre came with frozen vegetables and tinned baby potatoes fried in olive oil. Service was speedy considering that it was a very busy evening. Definitely not suitable for disabled or wheelchair ♿ users. The only toilet was up a steep flight of stairs behind a curtain.

So this isn't fine dining, if you want tiny portions and minimal decor you won't want this. But if you like delicious home cooked food, good portion sizes and a warm friendly atmosphere then this place is a little gem and you'll return again and again.I've dined here probably half a dozen times and the food has been great every time. But let's be clear here, this isn't La Rock or Vivo. Understand that this is a small traditional home cooking dining experience complete with Italian owner / maitre de. We have dined here before and while the decor and ambience aren't the best, the food was good so we kept coming back. This time we had a groupon voucher which was good value but sadly the food wasn't as good. It was a Thursday evening, and the restaurant was empty except for a couple of local business people who the chef was chatting with, they left just before our starters arrived. The waitress was a bit miserable to be honest, the chef came out to chat after we had our mains and he was great as usual though. Starters were as before - pretty good - but the mains were disappointing. We both had pasta mains and found the pasta to be a bit overcooked and dry - almost like they had been made earlier and reheated, or left under a lamp on the pass for a while. No excuse for this as we were the only ones in there! They also needed a lot of parmesan to be tasty. Dessert, on the other hand, was excellent ....... but we have asked before and been told that they buy the desserts in and don't make them on the premises. Not sure if we will go again, even with a groupon.

After receiving a Groupon voucher for Xmas and then reading reviews on here about bad experiences from other Groupon voucher users we were very worried about last nights meal. However once we overlooked the dated interior and cool ambience our night got much better and the food and wine was great. We had bruschetta and stuffed mushrooms for starters and then lasagne and pollo picante (chicken in a spicey sauce) for the main course and the quantity was fine and the taste was lovely. Please don't be put off by poor reviews and judge this place yourself because for every bad review there are equally lots of positive reviews that haven't been put on here. One negative is the mechanics of the offer isn't great such as if you don't want anything off the a la carte menu then you can have something off the specials board for 50% of the price which doesn't make financial sense and the biggest gripe is that they don't sell pizzas, yes you heard correct an Italian restaurant that does not sell its most famous food the pizza.Overall very happy and left full and tipsy so all good!!

We went to Bel Pease on New Years Day, and took my mother age 93 out as a treat. The restaurant was almost empty - one couple dining only - so the kitchen had no excuses for being too busy. We ordered three fillet steaks, one Medium and twe rare. When they arrived they wer all medium to well done, and the cut was like no fillet steak I've ever had, tough and stringy. I complained about the meat, and the owner was apologetic, offered to cook new steaks, but since the wait would have been difficult for my mother, I declined that offer.. We decided to skip dessert and coffee and just go home. When the bill arrived I found that we'd been charged full price for everything. Despite my complaints, the owner had no intention of discounting the bill. So we left, and won't go there again.

My wife and I went on what appeared to be a pretty good Groupon deal.We had mussels as starters and they were very good - but probably only at most 12 small mussels each, with no bread. We asked for bread and received 4 small slices of Ciabatta which were very dry and crumbly. I would have been disappointed with the value for money (£6.50 each) if I had paid full price. My wife had pasta with salmon and prawns for her main course (£9.90). It was a pretty small portion and there was hardly any salmon and not many more prawns in evidence. I had chicken wrapped in parma ham and supposedly stuffed with mozzarella and basil, neither of which were there (£11.95). I am fairly sure that this dish was microwaved and was pretty dry and tough. To be honest I have been to Bel Paese in the past and enjoyed it very much. I just can`t help thinking that somehow we paid Groupon prices and got "less than" value.I wonder if my experience would have been different if we had not mentioned Groupon at the time of booking and ordering our food, as if we were paying normal menu prices...as reading other reviews, Groupon does seem to be a factor in some of the reviews. Also, if we had ordered any items from the specials board, we would have been charged an extra amount of half of these specials prices, even though they were cheaper than the set menu prices !I leave many reviews on Tripadviser and I don`t normally review if I`m not happy, as I really don`t like complaining but to be honest, this VFM was very poor and I doubt if we`ll go back.

Oh, and plenty of it too. My partner had mussels as a starter and there were plenty. Previous reviewer mentioned the quantity of mussels served, it's a starter not a main course. We went with a groupon voucher expecting Ok rather than excellence. The food was really poor, overpriced and lacking in quality. Mussels at £6.50 starter were small and minimal (around a dozen) and the main course was at best edible. The house wine was OK and reasonably priced. At the end of the meal we were told that the voucher did not cover specials, even though these were priced below the menu mains, so the voucher was rendered virtually obsolete. A polite request for clarification of the bill was met with a tirade of abuse from the owner who seemed to assume the demeanor of a violent Basil Fawlty. We paid and left with abuse ringing in our ears.We are regular diners, a professional couple aged 60 and not used to such behaviour. I would never recommend this restaurant and would suggest it is best avoided!

went to bel paese italian restaurant on a groupon deal saturday night not many people in 4 of us went two course italian meal for two £19.50 per couple.found atmosphere very subdued we ordered meals and as id had wisdom tooth out 2 days before went for chicken as thought that would be soft the meals arrived and my chicken was very overcooked and tough in fairness everyone else enjoyed their meals.ordered garlic bread to eat had to eventually ask for it as main arrived.one of party had steak and was charged £7 surcharge for it as it was no more than 6oz thought that expensive, the house rose was very cheap quality although charged £12 for the bottle we ended up with £35 extra charges which made the meal quit expensive for a not too special restaurant.would sugest little touches like water, salt and pepper and breadsticks could be placed on tables

I had visited here before and although not very memorable thought a revisit after 2 years would be OK. I wished I had not bothered. Firstly it is staffed by young girls who obviously have had no training. We had to ask for serviettes. We had to ask for steak knives. We were not offered bread with the starters although the whitebait was so dire and stale I wish I had ordered something else. We asked for vinegar but they only had balsamic! The milk was served in dirty jugs. I had invited some friends so I was embarrassed as it was cringingly abysmal. We then asked for some mints but were told they were only "given at the end". I assume this is when you have finally lost the will to live or wished you were on a diet! It was Valentine's night so on a table of two couples and a child we were given single a red rose as we left to share! As we rose from our seats one of the girls approached and I naturally assumed they would ask us how our meal was. Silly me it was to serve another table. I would not visit again. I eat out very often and some restaurants are really great. This is not one of them. Poor service, poor food, poor experience. We paid in excess of £120 on reflection this was worth around £30 but no more than that. Dire.

Small and very cosy on a wet winter night. We popped in without prior reservation and were given a lovely little table with great service even though the place was almost full. The owner was friendly and chatty with most of the customers - which is always a nice welcoming touch. The menu was surprisingly ample for such a small place and when you take into consideration the variety on the specials board too, all quite impressive.Service was prompt but never hurried, food arrived quickly and was delicious and hot! Loved the vegetable selections that came with the main courses. Both our chicken dishes were cooked to perfection with sauces that were a delight. We were very pleasantly surprised with the bill at the end, even after three courses, wine and coffee. Compared to many other Italian restaurants we've visited across Nottingham Bel Paese is certainly friendlier, much better value and tastier!!Definitely revisiting soon!

Thought we would try this place out and it wasn't as bad as some of the reviews may indicate.service was ok we had some peroni beer we asked for another another brand was handed to us with no explanation and was charged the same on bill at the end but it was nice so not the end of the world. My starter was fine not outstanding but ok and my main of chicken I would say had stood a min or 2 before being served as it was getting cool but was very nice and the sauce it came with was lovely .it came with a bowl of basic veg that looked a bit tired but the potatoes were great .didn't bother with a sweet.the chalk board menu had lots of options I would like to try out next time.its not 5 stars but it's worth a visit if your in the area I would go back to try again

Like others I was a bit anxious about our visit after reading such bad reviews, however, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be at all. My husband had the antipasto which he really enjoyed and I had the mushrooms which were really tasty but as others have noted, these starters should have been served with some good bread. I think they expect you to order garlic bread, but the starters are not cheap and really should include bread. I have read that they don't even provide bread with the soup which to me is unheard of, so please Mr. Owner put this right. We then both had steaks with a different sauce, both of which were tender and cooked as we had asked for. It came with a separate dish of hot and good quality vegetables and a dish of what should have been roast potatoes but were boiled and buttered new potatoes which were very tasty so just say this on the menu and don't have guests expecting something which they are not going to get. There doesn't appear to be any central heating as they were using electric heaters so I must say I didn't actually take my coat off at all which is not really very comfortable when eating. I would not eat here at the normal prices but for the Groupon deal it was ok and would have been more than ok if some really tasty italian bread had been provided. We didn't feel that we wanted to pay the extra for a dessert as I wasn't expecting them to be good value so we went home and had dessert instead.

We went to Bel Paese as a family 2 adults 2 kids with a groupon voucher. Well it is not an experience which we would duplicate , my husband was served the minestrone soup as a starter it looked like dishwater and was served with no bread .. must admit my mushroom starter was quite nice.Even though we had Groupon vouchers we did order the fillet steak of the specials board at a supplement of £9.00 each .. this was terrible .. when we complained the manager / chef did come out and apologise and made us some lasagne instead which was ok .. we did not stay for coffee / desserts. The young waitress just looked awkward ... no music on so you felt you had to whisper .. would we go back nope not even if it was free !!

My husband and I have been here numerous times both as a couple and with friends. I have to say that tonight we went for the first time for about 6 months and I was a bit worried due to seeing recent bad reviews on here. I needn't have worried because it was as lovely as usual. Tonight we had a groupon voucher and the food was as lovely as previous voucher-less visits! It's not fancy. It's like having a meal in an Italian family front room which has been cooked by the mum! But that is why this place is so brilliant. It's well priced, friendly, good home cooked food in a cozy small restaurant. It has an excellent local reputation. I wonder if the groupon offer has brought in people who were expecting a fancy Italian restaurant which unfortunately has resulted in negative reviews. This place is actually a little gem.

We had a delightful meal here with my partner's parents. It is a classic trattoria - if you want a very smart meal or the highest quality food then this is not the sort of restaurant to go to. Rather, this is a restaurant for cosy, jovial evenings with some simple, yet flavoursome food, friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant was completely full on this particular Friday evening with people turned away at the door who didn't have reservations, so be warned. While we were there a nearby table complained about their steak being tough and not cooked the way they had wanted it, so they sent it back. The owner was incredibly apologetic and dealt with this very well. However we were quite surprised as two of us had also had steak. While it was not a very tender cut of meat we had ordered it with the understanding that it would be cooked in the Italian style - flash fried (so it was a good medium steak) - with the main event of the dish being the sauce rather than the steak itself. True, it was not the best cut of meat I've ever had but a delicious meal all together. If you are particular about the cut of meat you eat then stick with the pasta dishes. One of our party had the chef special linguine - this was a massive helping of delicious pasta with chicken, bacon, and a cream tomato sauce. Clearly a strong point at this particular trattoria along with the delicious flavours of the sauces for the steaks. Our only niggle would perhaps be that the portions were a little on the small side (excluding the pasta) and, while we were brought an extra dish of potatoes since there were 3 of us eating the potatoes and veg but no extra vegetables (beans and carrots). But then, I've never been given large portions of veg in any Italian restaurant, so I wasn't surprised by this.Overall it was a lovely place for a sociable and relaxed meal. The staff were friendly and the flavours of the dishes was fabulous. The quality of the ingredients (such as the steak) is not so good, but that wasn't really what we had gone there for. Instead we had fun and plenty of wine flowed throughout the evening (at very very reasonable prices).

We first went on a groupon voucher and vowed not to go again but at the end of the meal were given another voucher so did. I had steak first time, it was awful. My rosé wine so warm I asked for ice to be put in it.which the waitress promptly picked a cube out the ice bucket and put it in. Saving gracethe tiramisu was nice. Last night had bacon and mushroom starter, watery and bland. Chicken ok. Lemon cheesecake ok, coke warm, lager warm. Turn your fridge up guys. Very friendly waitress, but never going again!

This restaurant was such a let down. We both had a mushroom and bacon starter. This was basically mushrooms cooked with bacon bone. I had to keep removing pieces of bone and putting it on the plate. Flavourless. Then we both had steak diana. The sauce was delicious but my steak, although tender was flavourless. My poor partner however was having real problems chewing his. I tried a piece of his and was shocked at the difference in tenderness, his was unchewable. We did complain and his steak was replaced. No apologies, in fact we were made to feel uncomfortable for complaining. The 2nd steak was no better and by that time I had finished my meal so he ate alone. All in all not a good night and definitely not a good meal. And to make matters worse, the place gets rave reviews in the nottingham food guide?

We have eaten at this restaurant many times over the years and are sorry to say that we will not be visiting again unless the food and service revert back to their previous glory. Our family of 4 visited on a Friday evening and we were the only customers present between 6.45 and 8.30pm. I had the whitebait to start (as on a previous occasion) and can say without a doubt that the portion was about half the size, my son had chicken wings (there were 3 small wings) which had been heated up in the microwave and were warm - 1 was cold at the bone. My husband & I both had chicken dishes which had obviously again been heated up in the microwave as they were quite dry. Our sons both had a 'filet mafioso' from the specials board-both said the steak did not taste like steak - more like sausage! The boys had ordered a side of garlic bread with the main courses-this came after our starters but well before the mains. Only 2 of us had desserts but we all asked for coffee-this came before the desserts. The bill was just short of £100 - definitely not worth the cost. All in all not an awful meal but certainly not up to previous standards-where has that fantastic, traditional Italian cooking gone?

We went for a mid week deal on group on, small old fashioned restaurant which in itself isn't really a problem if they deliver on the food front.Bottle of Peroni arrived not cold enough, why? They had all day to chill them.Wife's Antipasti was poor, My mussels were ok, however I didn't get offered a spoon/finger bowl or any bread to go with it which I thought was odd.The whole restaurant then overheard the owner & his other female chef have a right screaming match at each other from in the kitchen, traditional fiery Italian style...quite funny actually.Wife's seafood pasta was ok & plentiful, My sirloin was supposed to be with salad & roast potatoes. Potatoes had been boiled then just 'shown' the oven & some were just 'boiled', salad didn't arrive but to be honest i'd lost interest at this point & didn't even bother asking about it. The steak was poor, small & overcooked, i'd asked for med/rare, it wasn't.The owner later came to front of house & was very friendly & charismatic.

We purchased a Groupon voucher for this Italian restaurant which was a two course mean with coffee. Before I go on...let me say each to their own taste but if you are rating this Italian food as excellent, clearly you have not dined at good quality Italian restaurants. I am Italian too :)Well we were the only ones in the restaurant, even though we tried to book for 6.30 he told us to go for 7.00pm, goodness knows why. We chose the Italian antipasto, totally covered in oil and balsamic vinegar - YUCK. No bread to accompany this dish. The salami wasn't even a good Italian salami but a cheap German version. Main course was Tagliatelle alla carbonara - since when did this dish have onions in it? Saturated with huge chunks of parsley throughout. Poor quality and I couldn't finish it. The owner from Pompeii came out to ask who had left their food which just got my back up. Coffee - I asked for a cappuccino and received a packet made one. Not what you expect from an Italian restaurant. The restaurant itself was well dated and smelt quite musty, dull and darkly decorated. Will not be returning at any cost or on any giveaway offers! Give it a miss guys as it's not a good offer even on Groupon!

Our latest of several visits already this year. This has always been one of our favourite local restaurants because of the friendly, intimate nature and great food. Took my parents this time for an independent opinion and it didn't disappoint. There always seems to be a subtle change or two to the fixed menu every time we visit and there is a specials board to choose from as well. The fish dishes always look good. My wife and I had steaks this time, while the parents had chicken. All were perfectly cooked, with more than enough vegetables to go 'round. The only small negative point is that sometimes the food doesn't all come out at the same time. Other than that, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend and with the restaurant doing regular Groupon offers it makes it even better value.

We went to Bel Paese with a bit of trepidation as we had groupon vouchers given to us a gift. We though did not feel any negativity from any of the staff or owner because of the voucher. The waitress was very attentive and welcoming and the owner spent time speaking to all diners. The food was perfectly OK , the only issue we had was that it was a little bland. The garlic bread was more like good cheese on toast as we couldn't taste any garlic and the spag bol again was lacking a little zing! As previous reviews have said there was nothing to complain about but also unfortunately nothing to make us return. Looking at the menu a 3 course meal for 2 with wine would be around £60 and to be honest there are more comfortable restaurants with better food around the area. It was also a cold evening and certainly when we arrived it was cold with several portable heaters around to warm it up - not a good look !

We bought a Groupon deal for this restaurant. I have used groupons in other restaurants and had a good experience. The owner in bel paese seemed to have one attitude for us and another for full paying guests. He complained to us at each contact with him that he loses money in groupon. If you don't want cheap advertising, then don't do groupon then ruin your customers evening. We had to ask about 6 times to get the wine which was included with our deal and the atmosphere was dreadful as he clearly didn't want to bring it out. Our friends paid the extra to have steak which was £7 more and it was tough and rubbery. My soup tasted like it was out of a tin. Overall, the food was poor but eatable. But the whole experience was unpleasant mainly due to the owners attitude. We will not be returning. What a shame as its our closest Italian restaurant and this man has alienated potential customers. Poor business head!

Me and my husband have visited this restaurant on 2 occasions recently both using groupon vouchers and could not fault the hospitality, service and food. On both visits our included drink was brought out to us straight away and our order for starters was taken promptly, on our second visit we tried the meatballs and mussels for starters both of which were delicious and for mains we had the arabiata and stuffed pork loin wrapped in parma ham. The pork came with a more than plentiful supply of fresh piping hot vegetables in fact enough for two, and neither of us could fault the generous quantities of food. Will definitely be back as have enjoyed both occasions of hearty Italian fare.

Unsure of what to say for this one. We fancied italian, didn't have far to go to the Bel Paese in Derby Road from where we live No problem booking a table, and quite a few customers came in after we had sat down. All were reservations which indicates a popular restaurant which is small inside with just about 20 covers, There was an intimacy about it and perhaps a cosiness - but something did not feel right. The staff are very good and the service was excellent. My partner order strips of fllet with whatever else it came with including rice and if it was fillet, I will eat my hat. The beef was very chewy. Fillet beef should just melt in your mouth. We did not complain as it was edible, but the whole appearance of the dish looked unappetising - so one not to have IF we go again. I had Canelloni (vegetarian) which seemed to consist of a creamy sauce that I think had perhaps spinach in it. Nothing exceptional but enjoyable. Like many Italian restaurants, prices seem high in relation to what is served. and I will be honest I chose one of the cheapest on the menu. my partner's main was I think around £16.00/£17.00. The amount is not over the top normally, but given the fillet afraid it was this time. No starters or desserts to comment on as we did not partake and after the disappointment of my partner's we both felt that we would possibly not go back. Have noted all of the positive comments about this eaterie and have decided that it is each to their own to coin a phrase. You can only speak as you find.Food was hot

We visited Bel Paese recently for the second time (both with groupon deals) and again the food was fresh, hot and very tasty. The only gripe I have is that maybe the starter we had funghi agliati (mushrooms and bacon in a white wine and garlic juice) would have been nicer accompanied by a crusty roll, to mop up the juices......I had linguini carbonara and thoroughly enjoyed it. The owner of the restaurant came out and spoke to us and the other customers, asking if they needed anything else etc.I will definitely go back.

after spending many months recently travelling in Italy and Sicilly I was very impressed with the authentic Italian food on offer in this restaurant. I chose 2 sea food courses which I have eaten many times in Italy and can honestly say they tasted every bit as good. My husband had antipasto and steak rossini and was of the same opinion as me. Prices are high end but you dont mind paying it for good quality freshly prepared food and large portions. I was also pleasantly surprised to see vegetables included in the price of a main as so many Italian restaurants "sting" you for these separately!with regard to the desserts .. I am afraid that I was so full that i will have to wait until next time.It was my husbands birthday and the owner gave him a complimentary huge shot of sambuca to wish him a happy one.with regards to the awful review posted by somebody else - yes doyleys are present but you obviously haven't eaten in any rustic restaurants in real Italy!! A lot of food in Italy is served on plates with decorative paper napkins etc!

Having visited this restaurant on many occasions I was amazed to read the banal tirade of FERRARILAD, after reading all of the POSITIVE feedback from all of your other writers ! The fillet steaks here are superb, and previously I have sampled most of the extensive menu. The fish is also recommended. Whilst it does not purport to be a Michelin Star Restaurant, it is a small, friendly out-of-town family restaurant which provides good quality, wholesome food at reasonable prices. If I was cynical , having read some of the other drivel Ferrarilad has written about other restaurants in the area, I would suspect he is being paid by someone to write this malicious rubbish ! If I was the proprietor of Bel Paese I would consider suing TripAdvisor, as this tripe wriiten by Ferrarilad is so far from the truth, it is libellous ! Perhaps Ferrarilad should be re-christened LADA-LAD ?

My view is that the positive ratings on this place have been written by family and friends.A recent vist to this dump once again proves that people can just call themselves a restaurant, take your money and nothing else matters. We really should have learned from previous Groupon experiences in restaurants, they are usually the ones with no customer base trying to attract one and this one is no different, it is awfull.First impression is that you are walking in to someones house not a restaurant, fronting the main road it is simply a very outdated cafe in a timewarp from the 70's, the decor is dreadfull, dull and dowdy. We were seated cramped on a tiny table with no room to swing a cat and nothing on the table but a tatty table cloth, no napkins or anything else, the place has 40 covers but that is 20 too many.Eventally we were given a menu ??? a piece of card with 2 sides to choose from, however there was a specials board too.We were asked to choose and I suggested we might get a drink first, oh yeah was the reply and later appeared 2 1970's Woolworths glasses with vinegar for wine therein. The food !! well I think that 50 percent of a good dining experience is presentation and this was another failure, 2 anti pasta dishes were ordered and both came with plates on DOILIES !!!! even the plates did not match and were the multi coloured throwbacks from the 70's maybe from Ena Sharlples walls, doilies for god sake.Whilst waiting for mains we notice we were surrounded by others complaining about all manner of issues and with good reason, the elder of the 2 waitresses (apparently the previous ownwer) spent most of the evening discussing her private life and slagging other customers off who were complaining and paying no attention whatsoever to customer needs. The food was eventually served but very poor and again on a mish mash of plates from the Rovers Return and even the order placed did not resemble anything like what we ordered.£7 upgrade for a tiny piece of fillet which was like leather, massively overcooked despite asking for medium and topped with packet sauce, we paid and left but was followed out of the door by the man and partner owner apologising but no offer of recompense. The place needs a total refurb and modernising, a professional chef employing and front of house staff training, it is a complete disaster top to bottom.THIS IS NOT A RESTAURANT IT IS AN OUTDATED STREET CAFE IN NEED OF A LOT OF TLC.Be assured, you can do oh so much better within yards of this dump.
