Beefeater The Castle in East Renfrewshire

The service was excellent and friendly and the food eas good. There weren't many people in but we were there fairly early at around noon. The restaurant was clean and the girls were quick to clear tables. However, the chocolate torte thst I set my heart on for pud eas not available because the rstaurant was due to close down on 4th July so that was a huge disappointment

My husband and I attend the Castle on a regular basis. However on this occasion we booked for a special birthday and brought a further twelve relatives with us. We had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. The food was wonderful and the service was second to none. The restaurant was very busy but this did not deflect the service that we received. Thanks very much to all the staff with a special thanks to Kathryn for looking after us on such a special occasion.

This is one of my fav resturants in all of Glasgow. Dazi Cat and team are truly wonderful and welcoming. Whitbread you are making a huge mistake with this resturant and its staff. You will end up loosing a dedicated passionate customer focused and driven team to be replaced by a shell. Go away and think again. Staff you have my full support.

Used to be great but recently it's gone downhill. Place was dirty, outside had loads of litter and cigarettes ends. Tried it again last week and about turned and walked out after standing for over 5 minutes waiting to be acknowledged for a table. This was at lunchtime and the place was jumping with pensioners doing karaoke. I don't blame the staff, they are very nice but obviously understaffed and struggling to cope.

Ordered fillet steak thinking it’s called Beefeater, it should be good. Highly disappointing, the steak was chewy and fatty, only managed to eat about half of it. The accompanying salad was mostly raw pepper and tinned sweetcorn so ended up leaving very hungry! Mentioned to server the food was terrible, they said they’d mention to chef but got no feedback whatsoever. Highly disappointing meal, steel was disgusting.

First time back for a while. Usual attentive and friendly service. Special mention for Alex. Thanks for looking after us.

Staying next door for a few days so visited a few times. Staff are friendly, food is good and the place is clean & welcoming. Francesca is constantly on the go but always has a smile and makes you feel at home.

Visited at lunchtime. Not a lot of people in the restaurant hence the lack of atmosphere.

Really mediocre. We used to love it here but came again recently on a Tuesday night and the service wasn't great. 1 girl serving the whole restaurant so she was run off her feet. The curry was just okay, but my husband got fish and chips and before we even ordered it I asked if they had fish without the skin on. She assured me it was skinless. It arrived with skin. If we could have got the waitress attention we would have asked for something else but we couldn't and we were in a rush to get back to my son's football. When I asked for the bill I mentioned it but there was no discount or anything offered. She did ask if we wanted anything else but we had all finished and were leaving by this point. Overpriced and sub standard evidence. We wouldn't return.

Service and food was excellent.

Breakfast deal is really good and they offer vegan options. Service can be slow when busy but staff are friendly and food was good.

Decent place for grub and a beer. Great location all the local amenities nearby just a bit far from public transport.

Nice restaurant good choice of drinks alcoholic and non alcoholic, had breakfast and dinner must be honest breakfast a bit slow but still tasty when it arrived and plenty of choice,evening meal really nice I recommend the rib Eye steak, nice friendly efficient staff excellent well done

We dropped in for a late lunch. Served by a friendly attentive staff member called Alex, we had the vegetarian lasagne and a beef lasagne. Both served nice and hot. Tasty food followed by 2 caramel apple Betty's with custard. This is a nice place with music not too loud. Alex was helpful, and service was prompt

If you like Beefeater, you'll like it. If you don't, then probably not. Well prepared food at reasonable price. Waiting staff were excellent, although there was a rush on (not their fault). For a straightforward meal with the family I would highly recommend it.

The young lady that looked after us is simply wonderful. It wasn’t just how slick and organised she was it was her tone and mannerisms when she spoke to you. She made you feel so welcome and made such a relaxing atmosphere. Could not fault the food here the eggs ( poached and fried were perfect). But the big chef was a bit grumpy.

We dined with our family,the food always goes down well, especially the steak which was superb.

Went to go in for breakfast with a friend not realising breakfast ended at half ten when asked for advice we were greeted with the staffs eyes being rolled off us and spoke to from the other side of the room was not a friendly welcome what so ever won't be back

Went for a Christmas meal a few days ago with my girlfriend,booked a table for 12 noon,got in just before 12 and got told to wait for a table as they were busy!!Still clearing the tables from breakfast service which I believe finished at 10am,plenty of staff working but stood around doing nothing,2 staff behind the bar having a drink and chatting to each other when they should of been setting up for lunch,no apology from the manager about the wait and no drinks offered while we waited,another table of 8 people walked out shortly before we left,so 10 people walk out and the staff didn't seem bothered!!Well beefeater can obviously afford to lose customers,won't be going back!went to the capelrig pub over the road and got served a beautiful 3 course Christmas Dinner,recommend the capelrig for food

My food was ok but my wife's cobb salad was disgusting,the avocado had turned bad,the tomatoes were soft,and the cucumber was slimy.we complained and the waitress apologized but no refund was offered

Went in October 2023 for my son's birthday breakfast and it was delicious. The food was tasty and well cooked. The staff were attentive and my son even got a wee birthday card, which was a lovely touch. Loved it. Great food Fantastic price. Great place for a family dinner

Had a delicious mixed grill, the woman that served us was very helpful and lovely, the restaurant decor was modern and relaxed, very easy to get to will definitely be back.

We love coming to the beefeater in newton Mearns The castle the staff are always so helpful and welcoming especially Kat and Alex they always make sure we are looked after and are always happy to see you ! Food is great and lots of choice they are great with my grandchildren too never any hassle even when they are playing up lol ! Looking forward to our next time there 👍 thanks guys

Food was pretty basic, some were good portion sizes and others were bad, some stuff definitely wasn't made fresh. But the service was great, staff were super helpful and friendly.

Food was fab. Calamari exceptional. Young lady serving both at bar and table 1st class. Over ordered but got a lovely parcel to take home. Will visit again

10 people and half enjoyed their food and half didn't. Some of the dishes were dry. I had the steak pie, and although I didn't see much steak, the gravy tasted nice. There were limited wine choices in stock, pushing you to purchase the more expensive bottles. There were no soft drinks available on the draft, again forcing you to pay extra for bottled. There was no lemonade at all. Although the staff were pleasant we wouldn't return.

Busy for a week night,staff struggle a little at times,waited about 15mins to order dessert.still enjoyed our meal and staff friendly. Recommended

Have been a few times with no problems with nice, friendly staff. Unfortunately this last time as not a good experience. The manageress was extremely cheeky so much so we walked out. Although this is right on my doorstep, we will not be frequenting again.

Went there for breakfast. The staff were excellent and got things ready quickly. Great breakfast deal. I think kids eat free and if you are a blue light card holder, you get 25% off. I would recommend this place for a weekend breakfast and something different. Breakfast is £9.99

Young waiting staff very inattentive and uninterested. Red haired manageress very good.

Great meal tonight, we both had gammon steak which was cooked to perfection and served with fried egg, pineapple and fries. Excellent value and a really good portion. I was driving and a pint of sodawater and lime £1.20!! All in all a great meal and excellent value. Big mention to Alex for excellent service nothing was too much trouble and the place was quite busy. 5 star service.

We had a very enjoyable evening here tonight to celebrate my birthday. The staff were brilliant and very attentive x Food excellent as always and if your driving (or even if your not....) and fancy an amazing little Mocktail... try the Watermelon Sugar ... delicious x very nice drink. Thank you for that little bit extra that the waitress and the duty manager gave which added to my evening out and we enjoyed the birthday cake once back home x Thank you again.

Waited far to long to have order taken and too long for food to arrive even though it wasn’t busy My mix grill was cold and partoff my daughters food was missing Ask for manager but he seemed to be avoiding us eventually he came over and in my option didn’t really handle the situation very well saying “that’s all my training allows” very poor service from the manager and then try’s to get the waitress to deal with us instead of him dealing with the matter

Staff excellent as usual and catered well with alterations to the number of guests at the birthday party meal

Pretty good place for a wee evening out for a family dinner....atmosphere is perfect for that purpose. Need to say if the kids werent present it may not be for us...but with the kids its certainly a good local choice

Poor service ordered fish+chips asked without skin,got it with skin on so orderd steak waited over half hour by this time everyone else had finished theirs and still sat there waiting,manager didn't come near!! Very friendly staff. Good choice for breakfast for the price. Felt bad for the front of house staff working because she was alone on shift when we arrived. This was a busy Saturday on Easter weekend so I would of expected management to not allow a member of staff to suffer on her own. She did a fantastic job despite this though! Full praise to your staff!

1st time in a Beefeater in years! Food was tasty & fresh. Steaks cooked perfectly.

Booked a table for breakfast for 2 at 10.45. when we arrived the restaurant was packed and the staff were looking very harassed. It became evident that they had overbooked and couldn't cope with the numbers. We had our order taken at 11 o'clock and didn't receive our food until 11.50. by that time the continental buffet had been cleared away and by 12 the lunch diners were arriving. The coffee and tea station had closed so we were unable to get any more hot drinks, toast or additional breakfast items. Very poor and certainly not unlimited. The food was average at best with watery scrambled eggs and undercooked out of date mushrooms. The staff were doing their best but ultimately the restaurant should not have allowed the restaurant to be overbooked. I've been to the beefeater on Hamilton Road which is far superior but won't be back to this one.

Booked for 3 o-clock for mother's Day and was told my table wasn't ready and eventually got seated at 3.20, we then didn't get our starter until 4.20 and our main course until 5 pm and at 5.50 we were asked by a waiter if we wanted our bill as they needed the table without even being asked if we wanted desserts, our waitress was really nice and said we could stay for our desserts but by this time I was seething, the restaurant is certainly not the place it once was and I left feeling very disappointed after spending £200.

We went for a meal while visiting relatives. Good service and good food. Some items on the menu were not available, so we had to order alternatives but we were fine with that.

1st time at The Castle and it won't be my last. What a lovely place, with really nice and very helpful staff and delicious food too. We went for lunch and there was a lovely relaxing atmosphere and it was great to be able to have a conversation and be able to hear what everyone was saying 😊. Keep up the good work and thank you for a lovely experience. x

You never expect fine dining level cuisine at a Beefeater, but the food was decent enough and their early bird menu was incredibly good value for money. Nice atmosphere inside and not too busy. There's something about a Beefeater that gives you a very relaxed and comfortable vibe.

Well put together and varied menu with that signature Beefeater steak-house theme. Staff were pleasant and the place had a warm atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit.

Sent back pork Ribs...cold then chicken with blood spots ..got told it was OK..nuff said

Place was quiet (except for birthday party which arrived well after us) but still it took over an hour and a half to have three with two courses, one with three courses served. Service was the slowest I've experienced in many a year, and food wasn't that great that it made the wait worthwhile.

1st time we have eaten here and will be the last. Stood at the front door waiting to be seated as per sign, we were totally ignored! Asked at the bar if anyone was able to seat us or if we just went and found a table…….was snapped at by the waitress with the long hair tied back (the one who looks like she has better places to be). Finally got seated by this hostile member of staff. Asked for drinks but she clearly couldn’t be bothered getting them, they didn’t arrive! I notice staff don’t wear name badges-convenient. A second waitress then appeared and took our order I asked her if the initial waitress was always this grumpy? Her reply was “how cheeky” referring to me, my replied was yes “she is”! It took us an hour and a half to be served and the food was at best poor. I think some staff training on basic manners is required! We will not be back. To the waitress that initially engaged with us…..I would suggest you have a think about your attitude…… it’s disgusting, rude and completely inappropriate! Get a job you like! you look like you are chewing a wasp! I have attached a picture it’s not very clear I had to zoom in she wasn’t very close, Appalling.

Big bonus the kids eat free! also drink are unlimited tea,coffee,fruit juices) the only draw back is I was seated given a menu nothing explained(Like do we help ourself or do you bring it? etc)

Just had my Xmas lunch. Very busy but the staff worked like trojans. Food nice. Warm and cosy . Made xmas day with my wife very nice Thanks again to the team. Appreciated the effort

I am 72 yrs old and have eaten in restaurants from Vietnam to Canada and loads in between, sometimes the service hasn’t been great sometimes the food hasn’t been the best but this is the first time I have left a restaurant without leaving a tip. That is all I need to say.

Having previously rated this place above the millar carter steakhouse it gives me no joy in writing this review but having just spent £70 for lunch for 3 adults it was a poor experience. two of us ordered the 3 course meal and my brother ordered from main menu rack of ribs with chicken breast.we both got the fish and chips.we also has 3 starters 2 breaded mushrooms 1 chicken wings. that was the start of our eating experience the mushrooms came on a dinner size plate about 6 of them looked terrible,, but we gave them a go they were overcooked on the outside and cold on the inside very cold especially the bigger ones. chicken wings were over fried and very dry, we told the girl who was very nice and she came back with another plate of mushrooms again very over done and just not nice to eat. on to the main course the fish was curled up in a circle it was like a big onion ring skinny fries were sparse and fish was dry again this was beer battered haddock it looked terrible and it tasted like cardboard.we then got a desert which was good the apple betty and cream but even though the place was nearly empty we waited nearly 45 mins for dessert after finshing our main meal. like i said i really enjoyed coming here in the past but the food presentation was very poor coupled with it being not very nice to eat made me write this review .This review is not aimed at the staff they did their best ,its about the food .. we will give it another try in case this was a one off which i hope is the case.

Waited 35 min before someone took our order , chicken butter dippers were awesome, fish n chips were greasy . Have not been for couple of years n won't be back soon

Nice clean restaurant staff efficient and attentive. Steaks cooked very nicely and one of our party HD the smothered chicken which she said was delicious. Will definitely return. We had a discount voucher which made this even better.

I was working up here for a number of weeks and stayed at the Premier Inn next door and it is the first time I had used a Beefeater. Absolutely amazing 5 ⭐️ food was amazing and the staff were friendly and polite and couldn’t do enough for you. I would highly recommend and would come here again. Thank you.

Terrific value for money. Staff are quick and efficient. So, £9.50 gets you cereal, croissants, toast, tea, coffee, fruit juice, unlimted cooked breakfast. I asked for extra mushrooms and tomatoes, no problem. I think there's a special deal for kids. In these times of rising costs, this is a wee treasure. Hurry, before they put the prices up!

Yesterday our meal was very good and we enjoyed it. However, service was slow because the place was busy. Manageress apologised to us for the delay.

I went to this beefeater tonight and thought it would be nice, unfortunately my food was awful, and I was not even allowed an alcoholic drink, cause they judged me that I was under age, just cause I shaved my beard. Would not recommend as they are not respectful enough.

Well what can I say about beefeater Castle. We have been coming here for years . Staff and chef knows us well always bend over back wards for us .Diane knows us well we have great banter always service with a smile . we will not go anywhere else its always our first choice see you soon xxxx
