Beefeater Burton on Trent in East Staffordshire

We have been three times to this restaurant first time we were told we hadn't booked and couldn't get in fair enough. Second time we went inbthe restaurant was empty but was told there would be over an hour wait for food as they were expecting a large party to come in. I asked we were there first surely they would take our order first but told they wouldn't? Last chance was yesterday went in stood at the door waited to be seated this was just after 7:00 p.m. to be told that the kitchen was closed They were no longer serving food? Don't bother wasting your time they obviously don't need your money or want your money Go to a restaurant that actually wants customers.

The way I have just been spoken to by not 1, but 2 of the staff is absolutely disgusting and I will not be returning. 1 individual in particular, Lilly. After standing and waiting for 15 minutes at the bar to pay for my food, all 5 members of staff (besides the manager) came tottering out of the kitchen to which I said "ive been waiting here for 15 minutes can I pay", she began to shout at me whilst in the restaurant, telling me the had an issue in the kitchen that they were sorting, even though the manager had asked them twice to come and and help. After speaking to me like a peice of dirt, I asked "excuse me who are you talking to like that?" Which she responded "you, im staff and you need to respect me, I was busy sorting stuff that has nothing to do with you". I asked her "whats your name?" As her name badge was covered, she looked me up and down and turned away. I then asked one of the other members of staff "whats her name?" And she said "sorry im not allowed to share that information with you". I asked who the manager was, she pointed to the man who was quite clearly very stressed with the staff team and their level of incompetence. I asked "whats her name?" In which he told me "lilly". What is concerning to me is how she so comfortably spoke to a customer like this with absolutely 0 repercussions. It is disgusted.

Had a great time, at Merry Monk, the staff were polite and courteous, Zac was our host and he was brilliant, would definetly go again, food was good.

I came here with my colleague, the steaks were fantastic, even though the chef was on his own, and we were served by Alex who was fantastic, cheerful and cheeky. It was a very fun experience being served by him and his attentive nature!

Brilliant breakfast experience we went there this morning with my husband our 5 year old and my mother in law nice and quiet excellent service for breakfast fresh food coming out all the time. Even better they have a very innotive idea to let children use the chalk pens when in the booths and draw on the glass to leave their own artwork such a lovely idea and great way to keep them entertained during the meal times and safe. Only downside is there not cleaning the tables like they used to meaning you have lots of dirty pots on the tables.

Very good food in the open breakfast and very helpful staff, even helping us find local emenities while we are new to the area

Excellent food and service from Michelle,Jo, and chef Kerry Anne would highly recommend , always welcomed with a smile and the food is always fresh and ready, and if you are short of anything they will bring it to you when it is ready, definitely will be back weekly

Called in for our lunch around 13.20hrs. Tom immediately showed us to a table and took our order. He is a very sociable individual and easy to talk to. The food we had was delicious with good presentation. It was well cooked and hot. The restaurant was very clean and tidy, and well laid out. All the time we were there Tom was doing his job without being intrusive. Well done Tom, you are a gem. 🥹

I ordered the ribs and chicken with chips and sweetcorn. Apart from the chips everything was cold. The sweetcorn was almost frozen. Chicken was dry. Ribs were tasty but again could have been warmer. My partner orders the steak. Which he said could have been hotter. We think it maybe sat on the pass too long before it was served. Would we return. No!!!

I eat here when on business, the environment is clean, the food is lovely , staff is very welcome and always professional.

We had Alex H and he was brilliant even when needed sending steak back. Impressed he can take an order without needing to write it down and he never stood still for a second!

A group of 9 school friends booked and went to The Merry Monk today 8th March for Breakfast to celebrate one of our 60th Birthdays. We do go every 2 weeks for Breakfast and its is always exceptional service and excellent value for money with great food and drink available. The staff Michelle, Leanne, Tom Chef Kerry Anne and the others whose names, I must apologise, I have slipped my memory, do a wonderful job and today to help our celebration had put out 60th Birthday banners and 60th Birthday balloons which made our get together that bit more special.Thank you to all staff you always make us feel welcome every time we come for breakfast. All 9 of us recommend The Merry Monk as a venue for Great service, food and value for money.Thank you from the Breakfast club :-)

We do visit quiet often as it’s half way from us and friends! It’s just like home from him. The staff are always good to us and the food is always lovely. Only downfall was they didn’t have any heating so we all sat eating in our jackets, however it was due to the boiler being broken and they did advise us of this before seating us! The breakfasts are excellent, friendly staff, good quality produce, well presented. A good selection of everything. Sausages are particularly good, which I think makes this a great venue and always very clean....no sticky tables. Great value for money.
