First - good parking space, with plenty of blue badge parking, which is important to us. Good food, at a fair price for mid-range. Well-cooked, although there was no fish available today. Excellent waitress service from Grace, who was attentive without being intrusive, pleasant, polite, helpful and friendly. No long waits and cleared away when she saw we'd finished. Made us want to return. Just one thing: the venue could do with some refurbishment, and a lick of paint to the outside would not go amiss and would make it all more inviting.

Dylan has looked after us amazingly as one of our party was celebrating her 60th birthday…food was excellent thank you very much

Hello, What a lovely place to come for a family breakfast. This morning we were here with all the Family and Brooke & Julia were great. They looked after us very well and the food was perfect. All you can eat. and kids ate for free!

Our waitress Grace was wonderful. She was attentive and very friendly! We had all vegan options and there was so much to choose from and everything tasted great! We will definitely be back again 💖

The man couldn’t be bothered to find us a table says there’s a 45 min wait and to leave the building till then. Over half the tables where empty.. VERY VERY rude man no respect at all very disappointed. As we left there was a couple out side disgusted with him too.

Excellent food, beaten only by the service. We had a lovely waitress named Kira who was very at tentative and swift at serving our table.

Another delicious lunch at the Beefeater with friends. Food excellent, as was service. We are now regulars a d ate already planning our next visit!

We came here for Lunch yesterday and enjoyed our experience very much. We all opted for the Daytime Value menu and we're very happy with the quality and service received. We were not rushed and had time for our business Lunch without interuption.

Wow, our first visit. lovely place, lovely atmosphere, nice staff. We liked the way the unlimited breakfasts were served. The choice and quality was superb. Great price. really enjoyed our breakfast.

The bar was very nice and welcoming with a new selection of cocktails. Ordered some bar food and Daniel was very patient and kind. Suggesting some meals that that I may like. The roast lamb rump was delicious and my kids enjoyed there meals too.

We came here last weekend after a day at the local racetrack. We sat in the great beer garden out the back away from the main road, we had a great time and all the staff are very friendly and made sure our drinks were always topped up. Later we had food in the pub and it was hot, fresh and very tasty.

Very slow service. Meal was nothing special. Last three meals at a beefeater have been not worth while

Now the suns out we visited yesterday for a late lunch and drinks. We decided to eat in the lovely garden area out back and decided to miss going back to work for the afternoon as the drinks were so nice. The Gin selection is fantastic. Lift home after a great time being looked after by all the staff.

My friend and I went to the bar for a couple of drinks. Daniel was very welcoming and kind. He offered a wide range of drinks when I was unsure what to get, being patient with my order.

Came today for lunch in the pub and had great service from the barman. Great value menu with 3 courses for less than ten pounds.

We stayed in the next door Premier Inn next door to this pub this weekend and had choosen the Meal Deal option to include evening meals and breakfast. The Restaurant team were fantastic all weekend both at Breakfast and for Dinner. The Breakfast is unlimited and the evening meal is 2 courses and a drink all for just £25.Its fantastic value and we will be visiting again when in the area soon.

We came in this morning and were looked after very well by the manager. He ensured we had all we needed and gave us a table big enough for us to have a working breakfast. Premier Breakfast is on offer here and it's all cooked fresh to order and definitely is Premier. Unlimited food and drinks got us all sorted for a good finish to the week.

We went to this establishment on new years day for breakfast with friends the staff who was the manager was so rude and shouting about us to the chef while we were in ear shot, the food was terrible no continental breakfast and no sausages! They refused to sit us even near each other even though there was enough seats. We then visited the toilets before we left and the state of them was disgusting poo on the floor water everywhere and tissue everywhere when we told staff she just said OK, and didn't even say thanks or apologise we had to stop off at tesco to use the toilet. I would not visit here again and I would advise you to stay well clear!!!

Very good service at the bar was served quick and with a smile. I think the lads name was Jason he was very helpful. Will visit again when in the area.

Having stayed in the next door Premier Inn i visited the Dod & Duck 4 or 5 times in the past week.I came in last night for a final visit before i headed home and every sevice was perfect and catered for all my needs.The food was served was tasty and for sure what was needed.

Came here for works lunch today and all was very good as it has been on previous visits. Signed up for a Loyalty Card so will get free Birthday meals as well apparently.

Went in on a Midweek lunch, Javier was very friendly on the door and seated us quickly, we ordered some drinks and just some light starters and sides. everything came out hot and quickly. we really enjoyed the atmosphere and getting to sit and have a nice catch up.Lovely little place, looking forward to enjoying the garden in summer!

This place is perfectly located close by The Theatre so we visited yesterday before a show for lunch. The service received was perfect for the occasion and the food was as always hot and tasty,

If you read the menu, the options look very good. But what you actually get compared to what you ordered is very different. The presentation was laughable with the food thrown on the plate. It all looked like processed/frozen food and whilst it was just about edible it wasn’t anything special. With this in mind, I thought it was expensive and my suggestion to anyone reading this is to look for a pub that offers home cooked food rather than processed rubbish.

This restaurant has fast become our favourite meeting spot. We visited here yesterday for a catch up and it's reassuring to see all Covid Measures are in place. We asked for a table out of the way and this was not a problem. The service is very good indeed

We visited yesterday for Sunday Roast. We were very impressed with both food and service. All the roasts were hot and tasty and we all stayed for ice cream as well.

Just got out of the pen for petty theft and burglary, and I can safely say after all my years of thieving, the Dog and Duck has truly stolen my heart.Javier was a delight and sat me near a group of old birds so I could pinch their purses whilst they were in the bog. I’ll definitely be back to case the joint again soon!10/10 service 10/10 food10/10 years served in prison

Visited as a party of 4. Restaurant very empty maybe 5 tables occupied. Ordered drinks which took so long to arrive could see them sitting on the bar clearly waitress couldn’t be bothered to bring them as she walked passed them at least 3 times. Starters arrived chicken goujons clearly reformed chicken not chicken breast. Then the mains arrived 2 steaks not cooked to order sent them back one came back ok the other still wrong , asked to speak to manager he arrived not sure he was the manager as he was no older than 17 he asked me if I wanted anything else but as everyone else had eaten couldn’t be bothered to wait for a third time. The bill arrived and they tried to charge me for a bottle of wine we hadn’t had. It then took them 20 minutes to sort the bill. Maybe if the chefs concentrated on cooking meals correctly and not having a party in the kitchen listening to very loud music (which we could hear from our table) might send out better meals. Beefeater call themselves a steakhouse but unfortunately clearly this is not the case. Good McDonald’s next door if you find your meal is inedible and you leave hungry.

Well I gave it one star and that because you cant smash that into little pieces. Christmas was clearly good in the local area as no chicken was available and then the fun began.The food was appalling. The manager brought out my wife her steak and pretended the plate was so hot she couldn`t handle it, well when my wife cut into the tomato it was stone cold as was the plate. My daughter had a chicken burger that was so burnt it had been given the last rights by the local crem. The vegi food was burnt even my burger that was meant to have BBQ sauce and bit on it was suddenly renamed a cheese burger. If I wanted a cheese burger I would have gone next door to Macds.I felt sorry for the young waitress with the amount of complaints that were being discussed. On the way out I noticed the cooking staff were all youngsters. Would I eat here again no way.

It all started with my drink which I asked for no ice just lemon in my Coca Cola and I got ice no lemon. Apparently they had no lemon. My prawn cocktail was nice but the chicken goujons was over over cooked.I ordered medium filet steak and received rear steak. The worst part was when they brought out the desert with half of it missing. We ordered chocolate brownie with chocolate sauce, wafer and cream or ice cream. We received a plate with the brownie and cream as they had no sauce or wafers but never asked if we didn’t mind it was like they was deciding for us. We gave them a rough idea of what we was looking to eat and they brought out what suited them. But the worst part was the amount of people complaining nearly every table had a problem. The place is really run down and desperately need attention which is disappointing considering the time they have been close it should be clean and tidy.

Had a great time having dinner and drinks here yesterday. The food was lovely and vegan options appreciated, we were served in the restaurant by Dionne who was super upbeat and on the ball, the staff in the bar were friendly too. Really couldn't ask for anything more.

Visited with family and was looking forward to it as they say it’s a unlimited breakfast well it wasn’t.My sister-in-law had a small breakfast (egg beans and 2 bacon) looking forward to a pain au chocolat as was my wife,After asking we was told there’s no room in the oven to cook anymore at the moment, so after sitting for another 30 minutes waiting thinking they will cook more well they never arrived and the manager started to pack the breakfast away.Very disappointed as not at any point did any member of staff ask if we would like anything else.

We visited Monday Lunch for a family get together before Christmas. Our table was perfect for us and all the kids and the waitress looked after us very well indeed. Most of us had Christmas Turkey and we were very happy with the quality of all the food. Even the kids left their plates clean which is always a good sign in my eyes. We had a good time and will be back soon.

We came here for a works meal for Christmas and everything was perfect. The service was great and the food was excellent.

Sprouts like bullets ,carrots cold , Yorkshire pud hard , turkey so dry. The management should have come to the table and at least apologised!!

Staying at the Premier Inn next door, we hesitated about using this restaurant due to a couple of negative reviews. So glad we decided to book - we enjoyed a lovely meal with great service by DIONNE. she was extremely pleasant and relayed to the chef exactly how our steak should be cooked. It was perfect - doesn’t often happen as hubby likes it burnt ! Many chefs can’t comprehend this and don’t achieve it but this was exactly as the customer ordered. Yes there were some items not available as mentioned in earlier reviews but this is a country wide issue at the moment. Would eat here again if in the area. The Christmas cocktail was to die for !

Eaten here twice in last 2 months , ok menu is restricted due to Covid , HGV ect ect but overall i enjoyed my meal and the staff were good. Can only apologise to the 2 staff who served me One gave my my Beefeater card and 5 weeks later the friendly waitress put my 300points on or something along those lines . Food was reasonable , so all in all i would recommend, staff made the difference.UNFORTUNATELY i also ate breakfast in here , first occasion standard all round . Second time No eggs, no i no there is supplier issues but really no eggs !! I ordered Bacon and Sausage , both were cooked in a deep fat fryer ( when you know you know !! ) both inedible and i wouldn't mind but it wasn't busy and this practice is just a lazy lazy way to cook. Couldn't give feedback as no one to give feedback to , wouldn't recommend eating breakfast here .

We visited here again at the weekend f as we were once again staying I the hotel. The bar service over our weekend stay was very good indeed. We all tried different cocktails as we noticed they had a new and improved drinks menu which was a perfect end to a days visit to the family.

This place is great, everyone works so hard to give customers the best visit ever and to leave with great memories. If you've worked in hospitality your know if you haven't then you should see what it's about. If there's ever a problem all you have to do is speak to a member of staff here and their be happy to fix it straight away. It makes you wonder why people leave negative reviews, did they even bother speaking to a member off staff I bet not.Mistakes happen, no ones perfect and when a mistake happens it can be rectified just ask.Hospitality, is working very very long hours and they do this to give customers a great experience and a joyous time. Our first meal out since before the pandemic - very well organised with hand sanitisation stations and well spaced seating. Our waitress Abigail was very attentive paying us attention and keeping us informed when we would expect our meal.Her happy and smiling face was an absolute pleasure.

We visited this morning for breakfast and we were served by the most enthusiastic staff we've ever come across. Everything was laid out perfectly for our Breakfast meeting and as usual this Premier Beakfast was unlimited including Costa Coffee.

Enjoyed a fantastic lunch today at this fine establishment. The whole experience was spot on from the warm friendly welcome to the first class food and drink! Highly recommended 👌

1st meal out since lockdown no 1, and what a let down. Table booked for 2pm for 4 adults 2 kids. No Beef at the Beefeater for Sunday roast . Ok this happens so we went for steaks. Mine was the mixed grill with upgraded steak. It was so over done it was horrific. Edible so just cracked on. We left 3 hours later only having 2 drinks . Shut the place if you can’t get staff. Won’t go back .

Me and my husband, and his work colleague and wife visited last night, I was welcomed and seated, by a lovely young lady, who also served me, Sophie. I had the festive turkey roast, the turkey was perfect, and the cheesy gravy flavour was immaculate! Our visit was fantastic, and hopefully we will visit again soon.

Me and my friend hadn’t booked for breakfast. We were welcomed by Callum which had looked after us from start to end making sure we had everything we needed. Our breakfast was delicious to credits to the chef and for definitely be back again soon!!

The food is delicious with great choices on the menu. Our waitress Abigail was very friendly and helpful. Checked we were happy with everything throughout the meal.

Bought my children in for lunch yesterday, we were greeted by Shelley who couldn’t have been lovelier! So friendly and helpful - a real asset. Food was delicious… highly recommend the haloumi burger!

Visited today for Sunday lunch to be told they had none left pick a different meal to be told they had none left ordered 3rd meal which turned up 10 minutes after everyone else had nearly finished there meals I would recommend calling first to check they have some food

I would like to thank the amazing staff at the Dog and Duck for taking such good care of us on our recent visit. We had gammon and steak both of which were cooked perfectly, couldn't find fault with anything. We will be returning over Christmas/New Year period with the family. Great location and ample parking....and a Hotel adjacent if you've had one too many!!

We used to visit this restaurant regularly but standards appear to have slipped. On arrival we were given a long list of unavailable items but nearly every course presented to us had something else missing compared to the menu description. The food was poorly presented and some items were of poor quality and not as fresh as they should have been. The staff member who served us appeared to be untrained. We were asked for our dessert order before main course plates had been cleared, coffee was brought well before dessert, and we were asked if we would like a returned starter to be removed from the bill when we felt this should have been automatic. Based on our experience this evening I would not recommend the Dog & Duck and would not plan to return. The photos I have included are of what was supposed to be a medium rare fillet steak, a portion of rocket which was clearly not fresh (served separately when I pointed out that it was in the menu description but missing when my meal was presented), a dessert sundae served without any saucer or plate beneath it and a floater coffee which the server spilt when bringing it to the table but made no apology for. All in all a very disappointing visit!

Great staff ours was SOPHIE and she was so helpful and cheerfull. The bar staff were nice and chatty and the seating was very comfortable.

4 of us went and had a meal off the lunchtime menu.3 of us had the chicken wings that were ok and I had the breaded mushrooms with a bbq sauce.i have had this dish on numerous occasions and loved it but this time it was horrible.the mushrooms were well overcooked and really greasy that when I tried to put a knife into one of them it shot off across the restaurantwhen it came to the main the lasagne was nt very nice it was completely bland, the curry wasn't especially nice.the rump steak wasn't well done as I had asked for and the burger bun inside was all burnt.....definatly gone down hill

We visited this morning to get a great start to the working week and we were not disappointed one little bit. We were given a huge table big enough for 8 which allowed us to have a business meeting. The breakfast was unlimited including Costa Coffee all for 1 price. Stacks of food. Good Service.

We all visited for Dinner 3 nights in a row after this weekend after being at the local race track.It was quite fitting as we all had Flame Grilled steaks after seeing Flame grilled cars.Every night was perfect and we were very well looked after by the staff and the food was spot on.

Booked a meal for our anniversary only to be totally ignored for half an hour waiting for our order to be taken. Other diners came in after us and they had food orders taken and still no one came near us, served drinks to our table just as we sat down but completely ignored after that. So got up paid for drinks and left! The young lad could not even work the till properly to take the payment for drinks. When told we were leaving as no one wanted to serve just said didn’t realise we were waiting so not impressed!

Well first time at dog and duck and wasn’t disappointed was looked after by jade, very polite and chatty, looked after us from the moment we arrived until we left, food was delicious, and puddings were to die for, will return very soon… thankyou jade your a diamond

Having visited yesterday for the weekend we used the local Duck facilities. I had breakfast yesterday and it was super. The manager made sure I had all I needed. He was very good at looking after us and he was very friendly.

We came to the dog and duck for breakfast, never been before but will definitely be back. The food was served quickly and really hot. The breakfast bar was full and had a lovely selection of items. Our waitress Jade was soo helpful despite being extremely busy.

We ate at this restaurant for a work dinner involving 21 colleagues and our server Abigail could not have been more helpful and accommodating. She let us move the tables around to suit our party, she was patient with us when we were all engrossed in conversation so we hadn't even looked at the menus, and she even got up on the chair to take a photo of us all. She was amazing and went so far above and beyond. The food however was a let down, the menu was so reduced that almost everyone had to choose an alternative to what they actually wanted which was unfortunate and one of our party ordered a chicken burger only the find the chicken was pink in the middle. Also the vegetarian options were extremely limited. So overall the food and menu needed a drastic improvement which is why I have marked it down to a rating of three.

Excellent value and service by Abigail. Rememberd us from before Covid as regulars. We had a good meal although there were a few items not available they were not the items we wanted so it was OK. Would thoroughly recommend The Dog and Duck for that special occasion or just a quiet midweek meal.

Whenever I have family to stay for the weekend I always take them here for Sunday dinner!…….it’s reasonably priced, with a good atmosphere and just makes a pleasant end to the weekend. The team are are very good, always friendly and polite, and nothing is ever too much trouble for them. The food is always delicious and plentiful……. I genuinely have never had a bad Sunday dinner at this place. We realised this more so when a recent trip elsewhere we frequented another one of their restaurants and were left very disappointed…… have to say the D&D have set the precedent Thank you for always making our visits enjoyable and please keep up the good work

Went for my mother-in-law's birthday and was pleasently surprised when the staff gave her a box of chocolates to help with the celebrations. Was an amazing touch. Apart from that we were received a great service from our waitress Abbey. Great food and great service. We will be back. :)

Dionne, is the friendly, happy, most amazing hostess you could meet. Working away from home (in another country) can be hard, but when you talk to Dionne you feel at home. Honest and sincere....

Both had Sirloin steak which was very nice & well cooked. Chose the steak as a number of the other meals weren’t available. Dionne was a really friendly and helpful waiter that added to the experience.

Well worth it but unfortunately due to delivery problems my first choice was not available. Served by Dionne who was most friendly, pleasant and a sense of humour. Very hard working.

I visited last night, My gammon was immaculate, the triple cooked chips were perfect and the young lady who served me, who’s name i believe was sophie, was very polite and made sure our visit was the best!

The whole family visited last weekend and the kids were very hungry 15 year olds and managed to eat enough for the whole day. All for FREE! The breakfast was hot and freshly cooked to order and all the staff we met were fantastic.

Great steak dinners! Both me and my had the 8oz fillet and I must say they were cooked perfectly. We normally book a table but as this was a last minute decision we decided to try our luck just popping in and although they were unable to seat us immediately we were waiting no longer than 15 minutes to be seated. Definitely worth the wait! Despite being surprisingly busy for a mid-week night out waiter was very friendly and made sure we were well looked after. Would definitely recommend.

Great location if you are staying in the Premier Inn next door as we were, place is a typical beefeater, therefore the food was good without being great, and the service was pleasant. The choice of beers was good bug a little pricey. All in all it does what it says on the tin.

Twice been in this pub for evening mrals while on business. Both times food service was poor. Food items such as patsley stated on the menu omitted from the plate. Ordered garlic butter with a steak. Steak turned up..no garlic butter. Eventually got a waiter who brought garlic butter. By that time, syeak was too cold to melt the butter. Lukewarm syeak and cold garlic butter....yum. stay away.

We visited yesterday and hadn't booked buy this was not a problem. We were given a large table for our Breakfast and were allowed after to use the Decking Area for a meeting for 10 of us. Luckily enough the sun was still warm.

Booked in for 10 O'clock polite and friendly staff. Started breakfast with a croissant and a coffee while a member of staff took our order for cooked breakfast. 40 minutes later I had to ask a member of staff to go and check where our breakfast order had got to. She went off to find out what had happened and never came back. Asked the manager the same question. He apologise for the lateness and said after checking that we were second on the list. The breakfast arrived shortly after that. The order was wrong. I think they had just forgotten our order as people arriving after us had been served long before us and they just grabbed the next available cooked breakfast and brought it to our table. We're 1 hour in at the point so we just got up and left. I should have asked 30 minutes in and even that is to long to wait.Every restaurant has its off days and today was our turn.
