B&D's Cafe & Grill in Basildon

We have been here once before after hearing about it from family and friends. We had a breakfast each costing £7:50 hot drinks included. The staff are friendly and cheerful and service is quick. Everything was cooked just right. The sausages are a particular of mine. They are very tasty Cumberland sausages and not the usual catering tasteless ones your usually served. We broke up our bus journey just to get off and have breakfast/lunch here. The menu isn't massive but it's enough to keep us, the large amount of tradesmen and the locals happy 😊.

Disappointed. Normally great, but panini is listed with chips or salad on just eat, no option to select which one but assumed one would be packaged with the product. This did not happen, ended up with the panini by itself. Called to ask where the chips were and was told I should have specified. Not ideal and not great customer service imo, wouldn’t have been hard to deliver the chips separately and admit fault. Will probably avoid from now on.

Cold and overcooked food. Stale bread. Not normal from here may I add. But today it went in the bin.

Popped in for lunch.. had the cheese burger and chips with a side of onion rings. Very down to earth and relaxed atmosphere and staff were so friendly, efficient and made as laugh at times. We were served by Tristan who is a lovely young man. Will definitely be back! Thanks guys ❤️❤️

Waited just under 2 hours for the food and it arrived atone cold, I called the restaurant they told me there is nothing they can do and to contact just eat

Order was well over an hour late and by the time it turned up it was freezing cold & inedible - very disappointing to say the least!

First time using this cafe. Food was absolutley amazing. Delivered a little early. Just a shame half of it was missing. (Probably why it was delivered early lol). Tried contacting the restaurant for about 3o minutes but no one answered the phone so gave up and requested a refund. Such a shame as the food was so nice.

This place is awesome,rant to order delivery but ordered collect by mistake, my bad.

Missing 2 portions chips with breakfasts

Fantastic local cafe serving some of the best breakfasts in Essex! A family favourite is their sausage sandwich, you can tell the sausages are proper butchers sausages and the bread is always so fresh! Staff are lovely, would definitely recommend to anyone to visit!

Had a lovely full English last week, perfectly cooked fried eggs and crispy bacon. Will be back soon.

This place used to be nice. Just went for breaky with my family and they forgot half our order! The worst thing was the constant swearing from the staff in the kitchen and front of house, there was not regard for the fact there were children in there. The man who served us though was nice. Will not be returning

Food was lovely and hot, cannot be faulted. Only gripe is that the chips were missing from both breakfasts. Shame, but rest of it was lovely.

Lovely people who serve you but I think the breakfast is a bit pricey at £10 especially the veggie one and more options for the smaller/lighter breakfasts would be good. I also didn’t see a kids breakfast so not sure if there is one or not. I like the idea of making your own but i think 1.75 an item is a bit steep. Food was nice though and not too greasy the only thing we weren’t Keen on weren’t the mushrooms. Would also be good to say which sausages they are on the menu (veggie Richmond sausages) in case of allergies :) nice little cafe and free parking too.

I thoroughly recommend the smoked salmon and poached egg. It is delicious and a portion is just right for two of us!

Went in here for a breakfast yesterday, stay away it was disgusting, the mushrooms on the plate stunk and were swimming in fat , it was all cold and had all been reheated. There was a hair in the hash brown Spend your money elsewhere.

Not all of the items listed on the menu come with the breakfast (chips,1egg,1sausage missing) Ordered super king breakfast was charged for it and 3 items was missing All over cooked and not very nice Beans and buttered bread was only thing that was ok to eat The bread for the salmon was rock hard and uneatable. Shame as this used to be a really lovely cafe

Had breakfast this morning, ate my food and I was immediately sick on the floor due to hairs in my breakfast, staff were happy replace the one with the wig in it but I declined but got 50 percent of my money back so I'm happy!!!!

It is possible to have breakfast and lunch. Instead of a prepared salad, a takeaway option is available. The environment is simple, the service is pleasant.

Had breakfast here today. Was given dirty cutlery which I had to ask to be changed. The food was cold. The only nice thing on the plate was the sausage The rest needed to be cooked longer. Could not use the brown sauce on the table as it was blocked, and the bottle had alot of dried sauce which means it hasn't been cleaned for a while. Was very disappointed 😞

Disgusting attitude the staff and other customers had today watched them deny a pregnant woman a seat to eat the staff I even watched them kick a elderly man out of the shop who was trying to get warm from the snow the staff here are disgusting with the way they speak and the attitude needs to change I would not recommend coming here as their is far better places to eat down the road at the town

ordered a superking breakfast that is supposed to come with chips they didn't arrive i called and was told it was a mistake on the published menu and they will change it to reflect no chips but they would do nothing else for me, if I knew beforehand i wouldn't have ordered from here, terrible customer service

Used to be good until they started serving rotten fish and old bread. They cant even cook chicken right its deplorable. There is a fish and chip shop next to Spar, they actually know how to cook food. Save your wallet and stomach.

All food was cold when arrived and drink was changed without a call to ask - also pizza was smothered in herbs with was overpowering

delivery driver was to idiot to come to me and I didn't receive any food or money refunded.

I ate in during a mid week evening. What you see is what you get. Wholesome food that won't break the bank. Staff are generally friendly but some times under pressure when the phone orders arrive in batches. They were one member of staff down the night I ate. There were a few issues during my meal, but not so much with the food which was enjoyable. 1) The till froze attracting multiple members of staff to try and sort it out and that put the kitchen behind. 2) Some of the menu descriptions do not match the instructions on the till. For example a boneless chicken platter was shown on the menu including 6 chicken strips, but the till instruction to the kitchen only allows for 4 strips to be cooked. Staff explained the menu is awaiting update but happily coock me the extra strips as advertised. 3) Some items were unavailable such as chicken wings ( sold the last portion during lunch), and Pepperoni for the pizzas so stock control can be better. 4) They run a two shift system ...breakfast/lunch menu and then an evening dinner menu, cooked by different teams. Some times wonder if the hand over from the morning to the evening staff is as efficient as it should be .

All very nice. Ordered last week and we needed to reheat as it was a bit cool, but this week was much better.

Walked in to the cafe no queue, staff chatting chewing on a lolly , saw me and carried on talking , said I will be with u in a min, she eventually came over, I asked if she had rolls left ,she said no, so I asked if the baguettes were soft or hard , she put her hands all over it, I said no thanks and left , maybe need a refresher course in food hygiene.

Likely will not order again as the chips were stale, there was no sauce in the burger yet when ordering said there would be. I asked for an apple juice and got a orange juice. Spicy rice was also cold. Service was quick but shame about the food quality

Ordered a portion of fudge cake with ice cream and the ice cream was missing. This was at 4.30 in the afternoon so with such a small order should not have been missed, not the first time the order has been wrong with missing items . Disappointing!

£2.50 for a corn on the cob a bit expensive, chicken looked like it was yesterday's chips not nice at all. Maybe I should have sent it back won't be buying fried chicken again

In the app the butterfly burger comes with salad and cheese, however, none of the stated was delivered. When called, the lady accepted that the mess up was on their side but failed to offer anything but a good luck for the next time. So good luck to you if ordering.

Worst takeaway I’ve ever had from B&D! Ordered two southern fried chicken burgers, got stale buns with three small pieces of what must have been sitting around for hours as it was dry tough chicken pieces which were hard to eat. The cheese burger meal was perfectly fine. We left the burgers and ate the fries and side of wings. Don’t know what has happened to this takeaway as it used to be soo good but of late the quality of food coming out of the shop has gone down. Sorry won’t be back ! We won’t be expecting a reply to justify the standard of food. Foxes will eat it I’m sure !

Kids chicken strips and chicken burger meal sooo spicey my kids screamed. Burger was pink , gutted tbh requested refund and denied I never complain but this was unacceptable.had it once before and was lovely however after this experience never again truely gutted 100% not for kids my 6 and 7 year old was screaming and it was spicey I tried myself.

Awful responsibility for there own drivers and when the driver gets lost for 45 minutes after asking you to walk around and look for them.and they still don't turn up and then they refuse to give you a refund or even replace the food you've ordered with hot food....absolute shambles.....

Just had a peri chicken hot sauce and peri chips, all credit to the young chef poppy (name was on her chef jacket) it was cooked perfectly and hot, would now definitely recommend
