Bavette Steakhouse in Liverpool

This place has potential but I want to shake the staff as they are missing the mark here. It was a quiet Sunday and we were shown to our table. There was a lot of options on what we deemed was an exciting menu. Also an extensive cocktail menu on show. My partner ordered a beer and I ordered a Kir Royal off their cocktail menu which I would deem quite a basic cocktail. The waiter was confused when I asked for the drink and checked with the barman, I was told they couldn't make this. I ordered another cocktail but then the waiter returned and told me he could make a kir royal so I said I would have this. He bought the drink over and it was not a kir royal, it was made with what seemed some kind of strawberry liquid, prosecco and watered down. Very odd. I didn't want to argue at this point given the waiter seemed confused about a drink that was on their own menu. There was 2 course menu for a discounted rate but we ordered from the normal menu due to the unusual starters on the menu. My partner ordered the beef sushi and was told they didn't have the rice to make this. He ordered another starter which he described as basic. I ordered crispy goats cheese and this was a good sizeable starter with a nice accompanying chutney which added great flavour. The waitress who delivered the starter left us without any cutlery and ran away so we had to flag someone down to ask for some which was annoying. For main my partner ordered the new york strip and had no complaints and I ordered the bavette flank. The waitress delivered both mains on a trolley. On delivering both mains she dropped the hot peppercorn sauce on the floor, thankfully this avoided my leg by inches. I have worked in hospitality before so I know these mistakes can happen and I am often very forgiving but she never even asked if she had caught the sauce on my clothes, she took the spilt pot and said it was the 3rd time this had happened and went back.into the kitchen. A waiter came to spray and clean the floor but again no-one asked if my clothes etc were OK. It did transpire they had taken our drinks off the bill, I assume this was an apology but nothing verbally was said to this effect. This could have in fact been an error.in billing who knows. I would have appreciated some communication to acknowledge the situation. Our mains were tasty, good portions so no complaints re food but the general atmosphere in the restaurant was so off. The staff wouldn't acknowledge you unless chased, the head barman stood by the door singing in another language aloud and on the phone to someone which was incredibly off putting and unprofessional. Given restaurant was quite quiet. We were one of three tables in the entire restaurant and when we tried to get a coffee and the bill. We tried our hardest to catch someone but felt every staff member were doing what they could to be preoccupied to not deal with us in an empty restaurant. The waiter continued to sing or whatever he was doing on the phone by the door. The attitude of the staff brought down the experience considerably. While the food wasn't mind blowing we would return if the overall experience had been good but we felt let down and as a result would not return. I think basic service principles need to be considered and improved and this will bring people back to the restaurant in future. The food is good but more needs to be done to excel as an independent business.

Lovely roast dinner mixed meat, great service, and very polite staff serving, all in all a very enjoyable meal.

This place gave me the worst food poisoning I've ever experienced the food was dreadful avoid it like the plague

We went here for Mother's Day 2025 and had a really good time. My meal was the sirloin strip with fries (pictured) and while nice, needed a bit more seasoning to be truly excellent, although I will say it was cooked perfectly to my medium rare request. Every other meal was thoroughly enjoyed - three teens had three courses! Starters were generously sized. Service was a little slow, but not enough that it'll stop is going back. The atmosphere was great and we had a great time. Decently priced as well. Would recommend and will be going again.

Our party of three arrived a little early, shown to seats, I had to ask for front door to be closed as it was chilly. Waited a while to order drinks and longer to order food. A complimentary dish of garlic bread arrived which was welcomed as we were hungry. Starters eventually arrived but my beef carpaccio had to go back as it was cooked? Waiter told me it was raw and had to call manager to look at it. He suggested it had been under heat lamp for too long, but would have another one made. It arrived after my friends had finished. Very nice but should have been seared before slicing, fingers crossed I survive! A further wait for mains which I had to chase. Mains were good but after such a wait my appetite had already gone home. At this point it was nearly 90 minutes since we arrived. We ordered one dessert which was part of the two course option. Sticky toffee pudding with ice cream, I knew we were victims of the heat lamp when it arrived with steaming ice cream! The quickest item to arrive this evening was the bill! Overall food was good, lack of staff in the kitchen and service let it down. Sadly we won’t be returning.

Been a couple of times and both times have been great. Fillet steak is really good, nice cocktails too 👍🏻

We visited for the second time since moving to Liverpool. we had a Sunday roast and it was lovely, the food is delicious and they are definitely not stingy with portion size so come hungry! The staff are super friendly too, I had a latte to start and it’s was soooo good if you like coffee and I had cheeky cocktail (Pina Colada) it was fantastic! The prices are really good to especially for what you get if you’re comparing to other places and the restaurant is really pretty inside, would definitely recommend!

Tonight we spent a lovely few hours in this restaurant, we had a great meal with a few cocktails afterwards. Our daughter had the kids burger and a ice cream afterwards. Such a relaxing environment and very nice staff. We will definitely be visiting again

Great steak , had the dallas 10/10

Arrived at 9:05pm, was served by 9:45pm. Food came within 20 minutes but arrived cold. Was still waiting for our drinks after asking for them 3 times by 10:30. Was then offered them on the house which was the only positive. Restaurant wasnt even that busy, only 2/3 waiters working on New Year’s Eve. Every single customer here was complaining as we was waiting for our drinks and food too.

Friday before Christmas. My wife & I get a rare evening out together. The restaurant was fairly empty. Our food arrived one hour after we had arrived!? The steak was great. The sides were not good. Corn on the cob was flavourless & soggy (possibly frozen not fresh). The Grilled Corn was the same, although seasoned well, mine arrived cold. The grilled tomato was also cold. The staff seemed to float around aimlessly. One girl was okay. No one offered us more drinks or came to check if everything was okay with our meal. The saving grace was one male member of staff who was excellent (the other staff need training to be more like him). He asked about our meal, apologised, refunded the sides, gave a free dessert and even threw in a complimentary drink at the end. Without him, this review would have received less stars. For such an empty restaurant I am not sure why the kitchen was struggling so much?

Just to make people aware .. we went to Bavette Steakhouse Christmas Eve .. 4 adults and 3 children .. never been before and we were impressed as lovely decor and initially attentive staff .. My 9 year old granddaughter was eating her meal which arrived with our starters as requested .. She told me that the chicken tasted strange .. I checked it and it was raw chicken with visible blood ., we called a waiter and he agreed and said he would speak to the chef .. 20 mins later no response so we cancelled the rest of our order as we could not believe we had no apology whatsoever .. my granddaughter 4 hours later started vomiting and was vomiting until 2 AM Xmas day .. I will be reporting as raw chicken is not acceptable 😡😡😡😡

Had Christmas dinner booked here for 4pm - when we arrived had no table ready, told to come back so we did at 5pm again table was still being set, place was busy and a lot of disgruntled customers who had been waiting hours for food, they could not tell us when our starters would arrive and tried to buy us off by ordering drinks - they could not give us honest answer got to the stage that we asked for our deposits back and walked out - this is the very first time in 60’s that I have never had a Christmas dinner, the whole family have had Christmas ruined by the unprofessional organisational practises of this restaurant

We chose this place after a positive experience last year. This time was not the best. The price on the wall said £15.95 but £17.95 on the menu, the waiter said that the price on the wall would be honoured, until the bill arrived and it wasn't. The sauce that was included in the price cost according to the waiter cost an extra £4. The food took over an hour and a half after the startes were finished and the centre of the attention, the birthday boy got his food last 10 minutes after everyone else. The steaks were good but the chips and vegetables were cold. I won't be recommending this place again.

First visit and it was absolutely fantastic, great food great service and good price. The waiter was lovely ( sorry no name) and he treated the trick and treaters really lovely and friendly. Highly recommended.

Roast dinners are amazing, and very reasonable

3rd time eating here last 2 were amazing this time we waited over an hour for our starters of rockhard meat balls then our 'medium' steaks finaly came out cremated with clearly half cooked chips. We'd waited that long i didnt have time to send it back as we had something else booked which was paid for so rushed our food and left but the steak was honestly terrible. The couple behind us arrived before us and only got there food just before we left so they waited even longer. This is ran by the same owners of istanbul on the same road we left there last time after 1 hour 40 mins without even a starter on NYE ruining our night then aswel so obviously somethings wrong with the running of both restaraunts. Ive bigged this place up to everyone including my girlfriend whos birthday we were celebrating as my favourite restaraunt but unfortunately we wont be back again.

Just home from Bavette. Let me start with the waiting time, starters one hour, main course a further hour and 10 mts, after asking waiter's how much longer? We didn't bother ordering pudding for the 7 of us. We tried a few times to order drinks but the waiters were too busy serving the front tables, we were seated on the table in the right corner by the kitchen. We arrived on time for my birthday meal at 5 30 left at 8 20. Very disappointing.

Excellent burgers and steaks for a reasonable price. The atmosphere depends on the day, it can get noisy with some guests but food and service are very good

Visited yesterday and had the Sunday lunch it was absolutely delicious. I had chicken and my husband had beef both where cooked to perfection. Food was brought to the table piping hot and so tasty great portion size too. All of the staff where very friendly and we where made to feel very welcome. Highly recommend thanks guys 😊

Fab little place, amazing steaks and great service

Had my son’s 18th birthday meal here. 50 of us and no complaints. Food was beautiful, service was great, every one of us had a lovely night. They couldn’t do enough for us. We will definitely be returning

Room for improvement - Family of 4 ordering starters and mains. We were impressed upon arrival, decor was great and the atmosphere was lively. Food was well cook and tasted good but an over powering taste of oregano on everything was off putting. The real disappointment was the service, we eventually left the restaurant after 3 hours. My opinion is that is a really long time to wait for 4 starters and 4 mains. Floor manager does far too much, he carry's out the live show cooking and is the bar man. It will be a long time before we decide to go back

Went on Sunday 17th for a late mothers day meal, first time at this restaurant found it excellent,the food the service and the restaurant Deco were all excellent,as you walk in you can see the cuts of steaks in a fridge ,and they DON'T put a service charge on your bill which is a pet hate of mine even though i know its optional to pay. definitely be returning and as I'm a taxi driver will be highly recommending Bavette to my customers.

Lovely Sunday Roast at Bavette yesterday,I had beef & Neil had Rib of Beef both dishes melted in the mouth.,definitely would recommend & reasonably priced .Taz looked after us & all the staff were very attentive

My husband and I took my mother for lunch here today, the most unwelcome I’ve ever felt in a restaurant, no customer service at all! The one person working spent the whole time leaning in the bar on their phone. Considering how cold it is outside, you would expect some heating on, had to wear our coats throughout the meal. We had to request a drink, after being ignored, starters came, calamari stale and freezing! Goats cheese cold, one tiny piece of octopus, cold and overcooked, warm bread? Cold with cold oil and full of oregano, inedible. Cheapest cuts of steak, chewy and horrible, no flavour, chips and sauces cold. Over an hour, not to be asked if we would like another drink or how the food was, sat waiting for plates to be taken from starters for over 15 minutes. £153 for one of the worst meals and dining experiences possible, terrible food and non existent service! Disgrace and considering we were the only customers unbelievable!! So disappointed

Bavette is one of our favourite restaurants! Especially for steak and lamb chops! The food is always fresh! The staff are so friendly, and the place its self is lovely, light and airy. The Sunday lunches are really good too Definitely recommend it.

Visited for a roast dinner as a family of four 08/10. Recommended. Chicken and beef really good quality. Only downside some of the veg tasted as if it was cooked from frozen, and quite hard. Service was really good. Drinks prices are too expensive, £7.45 a pint of Guinness and a glass of wine £8 is extortionate. Groupons when available are also very good value as steaks as to be expected are good quality. It's nice inside but a shame on the two occasions I've visited at different times or when I've driven past it's always fairly empty.

Love a Sunday lunch here at Bavette The meat is always beautiful and plenty off it. Staff are friendly and helpful. It’s the best priced and highest quality Sunday Lunch in Liverpool. Lovely relaxed atmosphere too. I also like Bavette as the building is easily accessible with no steps and a spacious accessible wc

My husband Took our little girl here tonight for a treat got ripped of after looking at his bill they charged me £8 for 2 fried eggs absolutely disgusting behaviour

There is a “goodbye” from one of the staff members to a driver because he didn't obey rules such as “Shut up and do your job”. When the driver replies in the same way he did, he becomes a street fighter! The community drivers have been communicating about the incident, and they are aware of this restaurant!

After reading such great reviews we chose this place for my husbands 60th birthday only to be disappointed 😔 the cocktails we had were like a child’s slush drink with so much crushed ice that you couldn’t get it through a straw and it was too cold to drink from the glass. We left around £40 worth of drinks on the table. My starter of octopus was served with small hard potatoes so yet again that was left. My daughters calamari was so dry it was like eating cheerio’s. Then my £30 fillet steak which I asked for medium/well done came bleeding on my plate. They took it away to finish cooking it and when it came back it was like a brick. More money wasted and me left hungry. The only compensation I received was (supposedly) a complimentary Margarita which was again just a glass of crushed ice impossible to drink. Safe to say we won’t be returning 😢

Warning - the manageress has absolutely no manners, our food came out wrong after she took the order, another waiter kindly sorted out the issue. I was going to split the £7.00 service charge, but she just laid into me at the till with no respect and a terrible attitude, we are the customer - do you realise that? Very poor customer service skills, really no idea how to be courteous...

When in around 7pm for the 2 course deal, didn't expect it to be so nice 😋 the steak was perfectly cooked 👏 service was very professional by young very well mannered lads ..well done we will definitely be back xxx and thank you so much for following us to return my glasses xx. Best steak iv had in Liverpool, Odessa looked after us and was very professional, food was delivered very quick and have been twice now in the past week. Have also booked for Christmas!! Will be back Very soon!! Don’t have a picture of the steak but I have of the starter and pudding!!

Honestly, we were extremely disappointed. I'd like to start off by saying the waiting staff were fantastic, friendly and well presented, we couldn't fault them at all. The starters we had were the beef sushi, 4 tiny balls of rice with one layer of beef wrapped around them for £11, my girlfriend had a very salty ham crochet which wasn't bad but over salted by a country mile, it was her birthday so we decided to get the fillet mignon (medium rare) the menu said table show with it, what came out was honestly a pathetic sliced beef style very thin cuts on a slice of bread no table side show and for £40 each. She sent hers back as it was well done and tiny I'd unfortunately eaten half of mine by the time they asked how it was so I made do, they brought something else out also supposedly fillet mignon much thicker this time twice the size of what they gave me, but going off of the taste, shape and fat, this was definitely sliced rump steak, they had no fillet and decided to pull one over on us, when they took hers away to change it they took her beef dripping with it untouched and forgot to bring it back over £100 down the pan absolutely would not go back and would not recommend to anyone. Chips were cold and 40 minutes wait for mains after starters and the venue wasn't even full. Such a shame, we were really really looking forward to it and very excited. Disappointed isn't even the word, went home feeling robbed and deflated.

Superb service and food Well worth a visit

Had the classic burger, requested mixed veg instead of matchstick fries, absolutely no problem, veg was super fresh asparagus, tenderstem broccoli, carrot and corn on cob...First class service and fab food. Will definitely return. Just a little quiet in terms of customers, but it was Saturday lunchtime

Absolutely amazing meal would recommend to anyone to go. For the price its worth every penny the servers are fantastic and even if its quiet all the employees do their beat to make everything as lively as possible. The servers are always greeting you with a smile and are so helpful. The food was immaculate and I've never been so full so fast with such perfect food.

This man is a danger to public health. I recently learned he was in charge of a restaurant that caught fire 3 years ago. Now today, they have a 1 star health and safety rating. I am concerned for his staff's safety. They haven't learned anything.

We visited the beautiful looking Bavette restaurant midweek as a party of 4 and we're seated quickly at our reserved table. The venue was empty save for 2 or 3 other couples dining. We were served drinks right away. We ordered sirloin steaks, all cooked medium. There was a longer than expected wait for the food, during which we'd have liked more drinks but nobody offered, and we couldn't get the attention of any staff. When the steaks arrived, 2 were cooked perfectly but 2 were overcooked and luke warm. Everyone's veg was cold. The fries and sweet potato fries were fantastic, crispy and well seasoned. A side of potato and leek gratin was hot but tasteless. Service was a little frustrating as the pleasant lady didn't speak much English, so when we wanted to order desserts, we had to point at the menu. Having said this, she was keen to help and attentive. At £35 per head for a main course, I left knowing I could cook a sirloin steak and potato gratin myself at home better, so I really hope that Bavette improves service and consistency in food quality. I wouldn't order steak here again, but I would give the place another shot and maybe try the Sunday lunch.

We had a Wowcher deal for 2 for a Stirlin Steak & side & drink. I like mine very well done & that's exactly how it was served, which I was happy about as I've previously sent it back at other places for still being pink in the middle. It came with some vegetables & I got a side of lovely creamy mash. We were given mini garlic bread & salas to startxm, which was a nice touch. I loved the restaurant up market decor & laid back atmosphere & friendly service.

First visit but will not be the last. Good quality well priced menu. Steak cooked to perfection.

Delicious steaks with lots of choice.

Horrendous experience. We went on Christmas Day with a large party and the restaurant didn’t have enough chairs to seat us, leaving 2 members of the party stood up whilst they tried to find some chairs. We were given 4 menus between the entire party (which wasn’t even enough for one menu between 3.) The drinks were brought over and left on the table for us to pass down the table ourselves. When it came to ordering, we were told they only had 4 Christmas dinners left. We had no option but to change our order. When the food arrived, there was no cutlery to eat with. We asked various members of staff and the food was cold by the time the cutlery arrived. 2 members of the party (children) were not served with food until the rest of the party had finished. The sticky toffee pudding a number of the party ordered for desert was over microwaved to the point of being inedible. The cake was burnt solid. Will never step foot in this restaurant again. Avoid avoid avoid.

Just happened upon Bavette when we were looking for an evening out together. Best steak I have had in a long time. Proper steak house with good atmosphere. . Good, friendly service and prices average for this sort of quality.

Firstly, the food was nice - no complaints about the food. The service, was best described as completely inattentive. I could forgive them if it was busy, or at the end of the night, but it was 8 o'clock on a Friday, it was dead inside. The young girls serving, were friendly and nice. It seems a lacking of management that was the problem.

Apsolutely incredible steak, the filet mignon was amazing. The nicest staff and amazing decor. Also could watch the World Cup on the TV. Very fast service. 10/10

This is the best steakhouse in Liverpool by a million miles ........you simply must visit .....in a lovely area and surroundings......absolutely stunning.......we all agreed this was the best steak we have ever had EVER!!!!
