This place needs a new owner and a refurbishment from the food to the entire shop. Seems like the owner doesn’t get universal credit anymore so just wants to make minimum wage and close the shop. I can say a lot but when you go there you can see for yourself.

Iv Just waited 20 mins for chips and curry source instead they have gave me mushy peas she was spraying bleach spray in were the sausages are kept u need closing down I'm appalled... Never again my chips r dry cold and vial

Went in to order chicken meat and chips and told me the wait is going to be 30 mins because they have online customers to serve. Ended up walking out as they prioritised online customers over a walk in. Every time you go there is a queue and you end up waiting for ever because they are serving online customers. They are advertising all the time online, but cannot cope and end up giving service like this. I was a regular. Not anymore until they look after there actual customers. Shocking

I visit my girlfriends who livesvin this area, Visited this Chippy a couple of times, Edgy staff & poor food, Sorry ,it is what I have experienced, My one visit ,there seemed to be young attitudal people behind the counter, I am not a Computer, Just a average person who loves some nice chips & have visited lots of chip shops over the years so like to think I know good & bad?!,

I’ve had to write a review as I was disappointed with the quality of my order. The chips were dry, one piece of fish had a strange taste and extremely thick greasy batter that was overdone and the mixed Kebab the chicken was dry…overall a disappointing waste of money. The quality has gone down hill

We have used this chip shop for the last 5 years and the last 2 times we have had a disappointing experience. Today I ordered online and was told collection would be 15 mins. I arrived on time and had to wait for a further 20 minutes. I was told on arrival they were just finishing my order. It turns out I was waiting on the pitta bread for my kebab and the rest of my order had just been sat on the side. When I got the food home everything was cold and greasy. My kebab was absolutely saturated in grease and I had to wash my hands twice whilst eating it. Half way through I gave up and threw it away. I haven't seen the owner in there on the last couple of visits so wonder if this is why things are slipping. Sad to say I won't be coming back as chippy is a luxury and when you have to throw it away it's a waste.

This chippy has been continuously good since we moved to Redditch. Tonight I had mixed kebab and chips which I had not had for a while and it was better than ever. I went to the chip shop and it was packed with people and plenty of Deliveroo and Just Eat orders going out. This shows how popular it is with locals. Also you can order direct from them for home delivery - we have used this before and found it cheaper an quicker. Highly recommend

I am absolutely shocked to read some of the negative reviews on here. This place has quickly become my families favourite. Every single time I have ordered from here, not a single bite has gone uneaten. Its fresh, hot and delivered in time. What more could you want. Absolute top knotch. The best kebab I've ever eaten without a shadow of a doubt. Don't let the bad reviews get you guys down. All the best - a relatively new loyal customer. Thank you for continuing to prepare and deliver such delicious food.

Good food but last two times there’s has been over a 30 min wait. If they tell you two min wait it’s actually 20. This was just for chips and kebab meat only. Great food but over all customer service poor.

Sadly, the worst chips I’ve ever eaten-not that I ate many! They were hard, dry and tasted like they’d been refried. The staff were pleasant which is the only positive point of my visit. I picked out the few edible ones and threw away the majority. A waste of money and I won’t be visiting again.

Shocking!! AVOID!! Awful food! The owner is rude and not a nice person even in the reviews on here his reply’s he puts back to some people. ‘Should have called instead of write bad review’ ‘You serious’ ‘maybe got time wrong’ Maybe you travelled to far with the food’ it’s always ‘if this IF that’ treat your customers right and with respect they are ones who grow your business! And before you say anything to this review WE DID try calling and complaining, but we got attacked very aggressively accusing use of lying and not true also you wanted us to drop the order back to you after ordering delivery, but we can’t drive cause I’m disabled (that’s why we got it delivered and he knew this as we explained to him after asking us to return it! We said we would send photo evidence. Im right you’re wrong scenario he was basically getting at. I can honestly say from working in different chippies for years myself this is not how you treat or speak to customers and also cook food like that either! We will never use this chippy again and will be telling others also! My daughter was so upset when her saveloy was cold and burnt not edible at all! Burnt, cold and horrible! Delivered late also! Owner Asked US to return the food even when we paid for delivery and they delivered (we live 4 mins away) and we can’t drive due to illnesses otherwise would have returned faulty food. We don’t care about refund or another anymore. Don’t want others making same mistake now. Hardly any meat in the large. And the owner is in denial and outrageously rude! The staff are scared of him. One staff member told us on the phone that the owner told them to half the food and they know it’s wrong and can’t do anything as get in trouble also he puts them under pressure timing them also.. Feel sorry for the staff. Treat your customers and staff right and your business will grow! You can tell us you been doing it 40 years that’s don’t matter and call all liars! Next be saying the evidence and all the bad reviews are all lies. But all bad reviews and your actions the proof is in the pudding. Never ever will myself friends and others we know will be using this place again! Good luck and hopefully one day you will see customers can be right and you can get it wrong at times and expect that rather than attack your customers.

Absolutley shocking service!!! avoid at all costs

Awful food and awful serves! we ordered a large donner meat and chips which had 5 pieces of donner meat which was burnt a saveloy that was old and burnt with so skin left on it and the rest of the food wasn’t much better! When we called to complain we was told by the owner that we was wrong and lying I have never spoke to an owner so unprofessional and ignorant he ended up hanging up on us! We will definitely never be going back here again and I would recommend others avoid it! they do not care about the food or service it’s absolute Disgusting!!!

Usually a good choice but disappointing on this occasion chilli sauce when didn’t ask for it on the kebab so the mrs wouldn’t eat it pitta bread was disintegrated so couldn’t hold it…was cold too. Chips had to wait for. Staff was apologetic about this a service was good but food lacked the quality that I had recommended.. was a Good Friday an was nearly closing this was probably why it was sub standard as it was thrown together. Not sure if I would order from here again. Very disappointed with this. Please do better 😡

Good fish and chip shop, busy or order being bigger meant others with smaller orders went through before us even if they came in afterwards. Chips were good and the chicken kebabs was good, good flavours and portion size was value for money.

Food was hot that's the only gd news, food is over priced and the chips were not cooked long enough, they were dry, soggy yet still uncooked, I threw them away as getting a refund (known from previous experience) is a mission impossible. Will NOT use again!

God what a waste of money my husband and daughter had mixed meat kebabs they both only ate about half .thank god .As for me I ordered a cod which was grey when I opened it so went straight in the bin . Both my husband and daughter have now got upset tummies. I just can’t get over I paid over thirty pounds to make us I’ll .

An hour before closing no food only what was left, asked for haddock and chips and they had already thrown away the batter. Another customer asked for chips and curry sauce as had not much left just roe and potatoes but they had no curry sauce, shocking with time still to go. Went to Chinese disappointed as was really looking forward to fish and chips. EDIT: was there at 19:50 I prefer haddock but batter was thrown away so didn't cook a haddock for me.

Was disappointed with the standard of food, rather than slating them in reviews I went to get there number of there website and seen it said chat, so thought I'd contact them that way as Friday night are busy and they could get back to me if they wish when they could ( wasn't after free food), the attitude and reply was as bad as there food bloody disgusting so now I've put it there for people to see, you give bad food and give bad attitude

I went in for a piece of roe only . only 2 customers in front who had already been served . I was stood for 15 minutes before anyone spoke to me . Service not the same ..

Moved to Redditch in December and this has become our go to chip shop. Service and food is always good. Home delivery service is a bonus. Only 4 stars as the closing time is very early so not possible to visit chippy after a night out.

Came on here after ordering food last night, and I'm genuinely shocked to see all these bad reviews?! They have to be fake surely? I have been coming to Batchley chippy for 8 years now, staff are very friendly, always greeted with a smile, especially the owner who commented last night how my children had grown and that he remembers them being in pushchairs. Food is always delicious, generous portions, chips are cooked nicely, we love the spicy spuds as don't always get them in every chip shop. If there isn't something available they will cook it for you, and I definitely recommend the kebab wraps they're lovely! Also an important thing for me... they always put a grease proof paper on the chips after adding sauces!! Nothing worse than unwrapping them at home to find all the sauce is stuck to the paper and has been absorbed into it, leaving your chips mostly dry. I can assure that if anyone has had a genuine issue then you only need to tell the shop because they'd be more than happy to sort it out for you... just like you would in a restaurant. Clearly you didn't do that before coming on here and putting bad reviews. Anyway it's 5 stars from me - 100% recommend 👌🏻

Had our first F&C from this place this evening and were very happy with them. We've tried 3 or 4 other chippies in Redditch, including one very well publicised one across town, and these were the best by a country mile. Well cooked chips - no soggy ones, no tiny crispy bits to break my old teeth, and a huge piece of fish. I think we will look no further.

Have supported this fish bar for many years, only to have the last three orders delivered with poor food, paying for fish that doesn't even look like cod, you can tell by the flakes. Ordered a mixed meat, hardly any meat in the box, to be honest, i'm sick and tired of poor quality from this takeaway. Such a shame, I hate writing comments like this, but don't want people who work hard all week to then have a poor take away, just like we did tonight. Put the lot in the bin and made some sandwiches, home made food. I hope they read their trip advisors as something has to change for them.

Friday 7 may 6pm. Paid just over£25 for 3 fish large chips and large mixed kebab meat. Chips warm , Kebab meat luke warm , Fish evercooked dry hard and chewy. Disgraceful meal not the first time this has happened. Andrew your father George never allowed this to happen. I have been a loyal customer. Recommendations please for a decent chippy please.

I ordered a chicken meat meal for delivery but it turns out that £6 worth of chicken meat does not come with chips and chips have to be ordered separately. Why would I want £6 of meat with not chips from a chippy?! Rang up and they weren’t sincere and didn’t really care. The chicken wasn’t even that great, quite gristly. Only bonus was delivery was quick and the lady who delivered was very polite. I will not be ordering from here every again.

Food is generally good but I find the owner very arrogant, i was in there recently & saw him arguing with a young lady about a fish order. When she had been previously been she had ordered a large fish & was given a mini fish she complained straight away over the phone & was offered a replacement the next time she visited, they even put a note in the till, when she tried to get her fish (along with other items) at a later visit the owner kicked up a big fuss about it, practically calling her a liar in front of a packed shop? After he found the note in the till he never really appologied he just was moaning he made the poor girl feel really embarrassed. The other younger staff are all lovely, I think he should work at the back in the kitchen preparing the chips & not speaking to customers, he has a serious chip on his shoulder.

Honest review here i went here today got fish and chips absolutely horrible without exaggeration, by far the worst chippy i have ever visited in my life and iv been to many. The batter was so hard on the fish i chipped my tooth and the fish wasn't very nice either bad sourcing by looks of it. Never again will I visit here

Thought I had found a great Fish n Chip shop, too good to be true served two portions of batter hidden inside was a bit of fish, this came with two half full pea and curry sauce pots the one pea pot contained 5 peas, all this for 13 quid !!! what a shame the staff do not take any pride in their work.

Lovely place. Full of locals and fish is good quality. Chips get 9/10 from me but that is personal preference. I like mine more crispier. Great stuff, recently revised opening hours and form of serving. Go online for order and collect. No walk ins

I have used this chip shoo a couple of times in the last month but the quality of food has declined. The chips are soggy maybe to undercooking or re heating, and the general quality of food seems lacking something. Cleanliness seems ok but under staffed at lunch times. Does this shop have a new owner?

When i got home the wrapping paper was wringing wet & so were the chips. the fish was chewy and greasy. The mushy peas looked terrible,, tasted worse and went straight in the bin,, with the chips. Quite possibly the worst takeaway meal i have ever had. Avoid this place.

Service was OK and friendly. But a bit expensive compared to other chip shops in area. The chips were very nice but £3.50 for a large chips in a plastic container. Others locally would charge about £2 as this would be a standard portion. I have since been back in and got a £2 portion of chips. I actually had more in the £2 portion than the £3.50 portion I had the other week. Again the chips were very nice.

Haven't been impressed with this place for a while. Just brought what was allegedly a large chips for £3.50 tonight. Smaller than most chip shops standard portion. An absolute rip off. Feel as though I have been mugged! Won't be going back again.

Just popped in for mini fish and chips- had to wait for the chips, which is fair enough, but when I got home the server had put the chips on top of the fish so it was all soggy and the chips weren't quite cooked. Disappointing

Especially when you call the shop and the owner asks you what do you expect me to do and non of my staff have long hair ..well for a start follow food hygiene rules about covering hair not one member of your staff wear a hair net I retract my 5 star previous review hair was in 2 out of the 3 meals had human hair in it ...sorry are customers expected to inspect every meal for your staffs hair.. hair was in chips!

Just swung by, was going to grab a medium pack of chips but the chap behind the counter upsold me to a mealdeal with chips and curry sauce for an extra 1.20. It's all dry and the curry sauce had to be put in thr micro. Totally pants

Having read a couple of reviews I was pleasantly surprised with the service and quality of the food.Telephone an order through, parked outside, order ready within a minute of walking through the door. Friendly staff. Roast chicken was well cooked and chips more than acceptable. What's not to like.

Been a customer for 5 years now. Friendly staff who always remember my face/goings on and always ask how Im getting on. Food is good, however I don't particularly like their kebab meat, but that is probably me being fussy. Only gripe is that they turn off ovens early so need to get to chippy an hour before closing otherwise you may not get everything you want.

Tuve kebab de carne y patatas fritas y de verdad que era la peor comida jamás. La grasa de nadar y me hizo sentir enfermo. Pedí sal en unas patatas fritas, YO NO PIDO problemas de corazón ya que prácticamente toda la bañera de vertido de sal en ellos. El kebab de carne no tenía sabor y la piel estaba en el pollo y estaba cubierto de pelo, esperaba ser afeitado los pollos la próxima vez antes de cocinado. Nunca ir.

We visited this fish bar and bought 2 kebabs and chips, the meat on the kebabs was so thickly cut my dogs wouldn't eat it!! It was stone cold the pitta bread was stuck to the paper because of being undercooked, the chips were also cold all uneatable and a total waste of money , will never visit again which is a real shame because it's an English tradition to get fish and chips, but get in your car or most deliver now and get from another and don't waste your money

Well they had a whole 3 customer together in there and 3 staff serving yet they still chose to ignore me and all do one order after 10 minutes and not even a greeting or we will be with you in a minute and seeing the anemic chips they were served I chose to take my business else where. Shame as when the gentleman is in service is good and chips don't look like there still frozen. The 3 girls serving certainly won't be getting my business or any rewards for customer service how hard is it to ask what a customer wants or even greet them. When there the only one at counter.
