Basta - Falafel & Grill in Camden

I’ve had a lot of shawarma in my life, this is without a doubt some of the most beautifully seasoned I’ve ever tasted. The schnitzel is crunchy, well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Don’t get me started on the falafel. Basically, I can’t wait to come back.

We were walking through Camdon Market and one of the guys caught us and offered us free tasters, these were beautiful and hot! So obviously fresh. The falafel was Devine! We got the shawarma and both my friend and I enjoyed it. The salad was crunchy. The chicken hot and not greasy at all. The pitta, well it was soft and not hard to bite into like some pitta can be. Honestly a nice place to eat and great service.

Honestly, I am a gourmet and I have been eating Falaffel in many places and these are one of the best I have eaten in my life! Super healthy, super yummi, special unique creations. The owner is super kind and helpful and I had so many safe options vegan and glutenfree too! Me and my partner absolutely LOVE this place. GOGOGO❤️

Listen, in Camden Market we met a stunning Israeli named Shai...with the tastiest shawarma there is!!!! And we've already eaten... a real sweetheart who just made our day with a smile and bright eyes. The people of Israel live in the world and in London in particular. worth and recommended :)

The atmosphere there outside was so awesome but the person who work there they are so Ryde to talk. I just go there and ask for tissue and he rudely said he don't have, what type of behaviour is it??? I prefer not to visit that shop again because its not acceptable at all.

It is in the market so ambient is busy often . We were lucky to get there when it was empty. Amazing falafel! And all the bits that comes with it. The staff pretty friendly too. Not something common in the market.

After walking around London all morning I made my way to Camden market with a huge appetite. I wandered around the market for a good 30 minutes exploring the food options available but something about Basta called out to me (aside from the owner actually calling out to me offering a sample of the food lol). Basta had a very short line compared to its neighboring shops which made it even more appealing to me cause I was very hungry and definitely craving middle eastern food the longer I stared at them. Got a sample from who I assume is the owner and that was that, I was hooked. I ordered the chicken schnitzel bowl with rice and... wow. It was absolutely delicious. The sauce was addictive and the chicken tasted great. As I was sitting there I got mad at the people who weren't lining up for this amazing food. Which you get a lot of for a very low price. Even after I finished my bowl and felt very full I wanted to order and eat more. Staff were very friendly and fun to watch. I would fly back to London in a heartbeat just to eat here again.

People are a bit crazy with these opinions. And that's how you can be fooled. The food is definitely not fresh. The funny thing is that they put 90 percent salad, a little meat and chips. And for food from a fast food stand - expensive. We got food poisoning. I strongly advise against it! Eating at Basta and in general the whole Camden Market.

Normally such a high rating would make me think it’s not true. But it is! Amazing pitas filled to the brim. Could easily feed 2 people.

Customer service - The guy behind the counter was enthusiastic but the woman who made my pita seemed a little bit unbothered and mildly annoyed she make my food. Product - very very tasty falafel pita, tahini ratio to salad was very good and the falafels themselves were decent. Packaging - the pita came in a a little tin foil bag which I felt wasn’t suitable for the amount of mess that was involved in eating the pita. I would definitely return, this a wonderful establishment and I enjoyed my visit here x

The best Falafel in London, at Candem market. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten free. We came back from central London specifically to eat here. The most characteristic and multi-ethnic street food is here. We took 2 Pita Falafel with completely vegetarian and medium spicy vegetables, french fries with all kinds of sauces. Highly recommended

While visiting this neighborhood we were attracted by the small tastings offered. Then the dishes presented. Our taste buds said yes straight away. Very friendly English speaking manager. French. Possibly vegetarian dishes. It's a change from big plates of fried stuff. Neighborhood to see while stopping by Basta.

First time at Basta and I'm blown away. The staff are super charismatic and full of energy. They have a reason to be this enthusiastic, their food is amazing. I had the chicken shawarma, fantastic flavour! The fresh pitta they make is so fluffy and holds all the fresh ingredients elegantly for you to devour. I'll definitely be coming back here for lunch whenever I'm in the area 🙌🤙

World class, as good as L'as du Falafel in Paris. Admittedly we haven't had falafel in the middle east, but have across US central America and Europe, this is world class. Skip the chips in the next stall and get amazing food here. Had the falafel with all the toppings, spicy. On top added some sport peppers and pickled beets. From the bread to the falafel to all the toppings all were tasty and made with high quality!
