Best Indian by a long shot, the customer service is what keeps me coming back as they never disappoint. Even in their busiest times they still go above and beyond. The food is delicious and overall if you want to go to any indian go here.

This is the best Indian in the area 100%. I have tried them all but Basmati is excellent and the best. Ali, Syed and the team offer excellent service and excellent food. My favourite bit has always been how flexible they are on what you want. They really care that you enjoy your meal and have a nice evening. The food is outstanding. The tandoori peri peri chicken is the best chicken I’ve ever had. The lamb is superb with no fat. All the meat and rice is excellent quality and authentic. The curries are superb and naan first class. For me absolutely flawless every time. I come a lot but Tripadvisor lost my account so wanted to do a new review.

We were recommended Basmati by a few people lately and fancied something different as had not been before. So from the top. Booked for 20.30 for 4. Arrived promptly to be told to wait in the sitting area by a guy at the bar. That gave a chance to look at the surroundings, not bad, not great. After waiting for around 10 minutes a member of staff showed us to our table, it was a little cramped I thought (like we joined another family for dinner) but no matter. At around 21.05 after asking to be served a rather abrupt sweaty waiter asked “what do you want?”, I felt this was a little unprofessional, it was pretty busy to be fair but manners cost neither time nor money. We ordered drinks (a jug of water and a pint of lager). This took a good 10 minutes. As the waiter was there we took the opportunity to order some poppadums as we were, by now, pretty hungry and envisaged a bit of a wait. Again these took a long time to arrive. On a side note the waiter insisted on bumping into me everytime he came to the table. We ordered the meal at this point, again the waiter was clearly stressed and pretty rude in his demeanour. As we waited, the Indian ambience music was turned up so loud we could barely have a conversation. By 21.50 it was getting really frustrating, the rush had disappeared and only a few were left but still we waited. Eventually the food arrived, again in a very rushed manner with no customer service present. The plates were absolutely filthy, and to the waiters credit he took them away and brought some clean ones back. Now for the food. I had a lamb Achari, the lamb was really nice and tender, the sauce was far too salty but I’d have eaten anything by that point. The Mrs had murghi manchurian (I think it was called), it was the blandest curry I’ve ever tried. The kids had Chicken Tikka Massalla which they enjoyed. The naan was fine to me and actually got excellent review from the rest of the family. All in all, in summary, it could have been an off day for this restaurant as it has some excellent reviews but we will not be going back after that experience. I’ll stick to Monsoon up the road with their excellent food and customer service.

We have just got back from having an evening meal here and cannot fault anything about the place. Food was excellent, staff were attentive & personable and the price is very well balanced. We attended the day after valentine's day with our 8 year old daughter and never before have we left a restaurant and she has come out beaming about the way she was treated and spoken too. Staff gave her a heart shaped balloon and a rose (alongside one for myself) to take home. She felt really special. Food was amazing and the banquet menu is excellent value for money. Well done Basmati, we have never been treated so amazingly in any of the local eateries, you have made a little girl's week! 10/10 - highly recommended!

First time visit and certainly not the last! We went on NY eve and the restaurant was packed at 7pm. The overall experience was fab! Even though the staff were so so busy they delivered great food and service too! Food delicious fresh and tasty. The tilapia fish was absolutely amazing so light and flavoursome. Prices pretty average. Definitely recommend!

Haven't visited The Basmati for a few weeks. I realised what I had been missing. The food is excellent. Ali and his staff are very polite and professional. Early Wednesday evening and the restaurant was packed. I think that says it all about The Basmati, top class 👍

A family group visited for evening meal, warm welcome, quick service. Food was very nice, lots to choose from. Restaurant was very busy, only one niggle where we sat, on the lower level I felt very hemmed in, tables were too close, with chairs back to back with the table next to us, making it difficult to get out to go to the toilet. Staff were happy to serve. Would I recommend, yes, it's worth a visit, would I rush back, probably not.

Came here on a Wednesday night thinking it would be quiet with it being mid week. We were wrong. Place was full and had a buzzing atmosphere. We realised why it was so busy as they do a 4 course buffet for £16.95pp! The food was so tasty and fresh, the dishes even came on a stove to keep it hot until it got to the table - amazing. Staff were very friendly, the decor was nice and nicely dressed tables and napkins. Will definitely be coming back!

This year we fancied something different on Christmas day, unfortunately we left it too late to be able to dine in so we opted for a collection. The first time we've used this restaurant, definitely won't be the last, the best curry I've ever had and a reasonable price.

The food was excellent and so many good options to choose from and interesting specials menu. The set menu option was good value as well. The decor was very nice and I think many of the photos on TripAdvisor and Google are not up-to-date and the restaurant decor must have been re-done since those photos were taken. Was my first visit and would definitely go back again.

Called in with 3 friends and we were shown to a table that was too small for 4 adults. The restaurant was nice and the the staff were friendly enough. I ordered lemon rice , but i couldn't taste any lemon in it. I alos ordered a garlic nann , but this was bland and i couldnt tats any garlic in it. On the plus side my other friends said their meals were lovlely. At the end of the night the wiaiter gave us the meal saying " he had to go home!"

We came here for a meal with our children and it was fantastic. The staff were welcoming, polite and helpful. The food was amazing, without a doubt the nicest Indian we have had in the area. Our children loved their first Indian cuisine experience and we will be returning in the near future.

We often use Basmati and have had good meals in the past, but unfortunately we had a takeaway last night and the standard was poor. I went for a Prawn Rogan Josh but it was more like Prawns in tinned tomatoes, no spice or flavour.

Had a takeaway due to the Covid and it did not disappoint! The chicken jalfrezi was very flavourful and spicy, would be great to sit in once lockdown restrictions end.

So glad we found this gem a few years ago. Always superb meal and service is so welcoming. Once all this craziness is over and these guys get back to opening fully we will be back. Take away and delivery service is a fantastic alternative, food is always spot on. From the start I will say I'm a regular customer at the Basmati and the team there are probably the friendliest I have met in any restaurant.The food is of an excellent quality, but where they gain extra points is their willingness to change/cook items to the customers needs.All the team are attentive to the customers needs.Since lockdown I have had regular takeaways and the food has been of a high quality and under the restrictions that all restaurants are working under I'm amazed the service they still offer.If you live in the are and you haven't been yet give it a try because if you enjoy the takeaway when they reopen you'll be in for a treat.

I’ve been going to Basmati for 4 years since first going with a local social group. Have introduced friends, one of whom said it was his first ever curry and all have loved it. My daughter is very particular about her Indian food, she grew up in Bradford and has eaten in renowned Indian restaurants there from a young age and cooks her own authentic from scratch. We took her to Basmati for the first time and she loved it. - they impressed a tough customer We follow their Facebook page and they issue updates there. In recent days they had to close unexpectedly one evening due to a family emergency and issued an apology on Facebook beforehand. To the bad reviewer- majority of business websites can’t be adjusted for a, one day, last minute emergency!! Basmati did everything possible in difficult circumstances to keep customers informed. I would just like to thank the Basmati for continuing to provide a friendly and welcoming takeaway service in such difficult times. Their food is always delicious. We"ve had several curries from them during lockdown. Sadly there are always going to be people (aka the Tims of this world) who don't appreciate that sometimes businesses have to close at short notice due to unforseen circumstances. No business wants to let their customers down, or lose custom,The Basmati took the trouble to post that there was a problem even though they had an emergency to cope with. The owners and staff are lovely people and, likd all businesses striving to operate and make a living during covid, they need our support.

The website states that they are open. We planned our set menu and were looking forward to them opening at 6pm. However when we got through we told they had closed. This should have been highlighted on the website. For a professional business it’s pretty poor. Won’t be bothering again

This is a DELIVERY review, so the unsures at the bottom are simply because I have not visited the restaraunt. Made my 1st order a few weeks back after reading reviews and the food arrived quickly, hot and was very tasty, so well done guys. :)I decided to place an order last night (16th Sept.2020) at 9pm, only to be told no deliveries because the driver had gone home. At 9pm!! way to run a business.I try again tonight (17th Sept.2020) and this time told yes, we can deliver. I place my order and go to pay by card, since their site clearly shows and states, all cards accepted, only to be told cash only. Again, way to run a business. Especially during Covid where card is surely the safest way to do transactions these days.Unbelievable and this new customer is no longer one. :(

Our fave indian/bangladeshi restaurant. Can’t fault the food we had last night, had to bring some of my main meal home as was a large portion. It was very busy as was the last Wednesday of the 50% Dine In scheme but it still felt safe. We’ll be back soon!

Booked here over a week ago for a 50th Birthday via messenger, arrived to be told they have no booking in my name, which I said I have booked via messenger where the guy replied so rudely you can’t of as we don’t take bookings via messenger.So I showed him the message, but we don’t take bookings this way regardless of me showing him the message.They were going seat us but no chance the way he spoke to me and trying make me look stupid we were staying there and most definitely won’t bother again.

Absolutely amazing from start to finish. Superb service, great staff and brilliant food. Fresh authentic ingredients and really nice meat and sauces. Mixed kebab was amazing and Naga was one of the best I’ve tried. I eat Indian all over the UK and this was faultless.

Ordering easy, food very good, delivery standards worrying in times of Covid 19. The driver delivering the food was asked if he wanted the money on the side save handing it hand to hand. “I don’t believe in all that” was the reply. Food was great and ordering was easy, but don’t spoil it by potentially spreading a pandemic disease.

We have been to Basmati quite a few time now for a casual dinner through to Christmas lunch buffet, not had a bad meal yet but never tried the take away so decided to give it a try. Super meal, flavoursome and packed with spices (not chillies). I had Aloo Daan, my wife passanda, my sons an afghan chana and a murghi massala. Being dad I had to have a spoon of each, not dissapointed with any of them. Portions are pretty good so we shared a pilau rice each, a garlic naan and a cheese naan. Great value for money. Staff were great and food came out after id arrived - always a good sign. Highly recommended.

Arrived and seated promptly with drinks ordered super fast also popadoms brought out quickly they were lovely and fresh but the mint sauce had a fly on the edge of the dish but luckily this was taken back and changed straight away after we pointed it out. For starters we had king prawn butterfly the coating was a little thick and also for myself tandoori king prawn which was absolutely beautiful to which my husband got starter jealousy. For main I had chicken shashlick and it was cooked perfectly my husband ordered goa garlic chicken which was flavour some, the breads were fresh and light the rice was also delicious in all a fab meal out. Overall we were happy but when food comes off a pass you would naturally expect a visual inspection to make sure the food taken out was right and no flys , the frustrating thing was he did not apologise for it ..

Made a return trip once again to Basmati with friends. Guaranteed wonderful food, great atmosphere & exceptional customer service...”Mushy Peas” did his upmost to entertain. Friday evening 7/2/20. Accident on M6 prevented all the staff getting to the restaurant, everything running about an hour late. We were given this full explanation - couldn't be helped, staff were coping admirably. I said I couldn't wait that long as I'm diabetic, maybe we should go somewhere else. Waiter was brilliant, set up some poppadoms and dips at the bar for me. Very understanding and kind. Table was made ready for us in good time. We were given free poppadoms and drinks. More staff arrived and everything went very well. Food was gorgeous as always, staff brilliant and attentive. Free coffees. Can't praise them enough.

I am working in Newcastle under Lyme, and decided to try an Indian restaurant. The reviews were good for the basmati, and the prices were average. I’m from Birmingham and an avid Indian food eater. I’m no expert, but I couldn’t help noticing that 90% of the menu is made up of the ‘ easy curry’ . By that I mean the restaurant makes their dishes using precooked tikka style meats added to a standard curry gravy. The gravy is then added with other spices to make the ordered dish . Ie extra onions for Dupiaza, added Chillies for Jalfraizy etc. I’ve been eating Indian food for 30 years and my wife is half Indian, but I can’t help thinking that the British people are being ripped off by this style of cuisine. My local favorite Indian restaurants in Birmingham never put lumps of tikka into a sauce and call it a curry. The meat ( chicken and lamb etc) is soft and succulent, drawing all the spices into the meat as the meat is cooked in the spices ( not sealed in a tandoor beforehand). So if you want to still eat the food at the Basmati, insist the meat is NOT precooked in the Tandoor , and insist if the meat is not soft and tender then the dish will be returned. Stop ripping off the unknowing diners that don’t know any different. On a constructive note, Basmati restaurant, add a Methii Gosth to your menu, but use soft lamb cooked in the sauce, and I guarantee you will get great reviews, not disappointing ones from the like of myself.

Appalling. Waited 1 hour after being seated by very surly waiter before food order even taken. Then waited 2 hours for starter. By hour 3 had enough and asked to leave and pay for starter(which didnt really feel we should given shocking service) Was told we had to pay for full meal, staff were aggressive and intimidating. Eventually agreed but asked for remaining food to take out at least. Was not really that good. I was told by the one pleasant waiter(as I was trying to leave) that staff were stuck on the motorway that evening and they were understaffed, however they were sending out takeaways all night whilst ignoring customers sitting in the restaurant. Even though they were having problems staff were rude, aggressive and intimidating and food was mediocre. Avoid at all costs!

Very impressed with the quality of the food. Good, fast service especially as every table was full. We went as a party of 20 and there were no complaints amongst us. The staff are very polite and attentive.

On Friday 20th December myself and my work colleagues visited for our Christmas meal. All the staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble for them! They even decorated the table for me! The food is always of a high standard and it is very reasonably priced. I cannot thank the team enough for always making sure my guests and I always have a fantastic time!

We went as a group of 15 and it was my first visit. We had paid deposit but didn’t have to pre-order our food. I immediately noticed how friendly, helpful and patient the staff were. They gave us plenty of time to get our drinks in and peruse the menu before ordering our meals. We were all highly impressed that all meals arrived together and were very hot indeed. Not a single one of us 15 had absolutely anything to complain about. Each individual meal was cooked to perfection and beautifully served, right by our table. I had a fish starter, a vegetable madras with lemon rice and peshwari nan for mains. OMG, it was just simply gorgeous. The nan was the lightest, fluffiest bread I’ve ever eaten and the rice was very fresh, delicate and and had real lemon flavour. The madras was at perfect heat, not too hot at all but not too mild either. The ice cream dessert was delicious, soft and not overly sweet. All of us were unanimous that we would definitely come here again and maybe even make this a regular event.

Very disappointing Basmati. We use your takeaway weekly and our order is usually the same each time (mine is anyway) I always have a Panner Tikka Shashlik and this week I had a very unpleasant surprise of lamb in my meal. It may appear that there has been a key member of staff missing for a few weeks which has shown (as an order a few weeks ago was completely wrong)

We have been eating here for over three years and the food and service is constantly five stars, the staff are always professional and attentive no matter how busy they are. Hats off to the kitchen staff too who must work their socks off to get quality food out so promptly.

The food is alway excellent, there is a real buzz about the place and the staff are absolutely brilliant, always polite and very knowledgeable about their menu, you tell them what you like and they even suggest tweaks to suit your taste, great customer service, will be back soon.

All i can say was that it was ok, i have had far better curries elsewhere. Service was good and they were very busy.

My new go to Indian. Busy place, and there is a good reason why. Excellent food. Extensive menu. Really tasty, good portions. Already booked to go back.

Myself & 11 colleagues booked into Basmati for a meal on Wednesday night. Efficient to start off with but everything just took ages to come to the table.

Whenever we travel up country from Cornwall, we go out of our way to stay in Newcastle under Lyme so that we can visit this restaurant. Super menu, all of the food is delicious. Thank you to the chef who once again adapted a dish to cater for an allergy. The staff are welcoming and friendly. Thank you, we will be back.
