Been few times and food is always gorgeous. Lovely place, very friendly staff, highly recommended 👌 Best chutney tray around! There were 22 I in our party and all meals came out together and my garlic chicken was fantastic..Will be back very soon.

Looks great that’s all. Awful service, drinks never arrived, very average food, overpriced, food portions didn’t arrive. Never again.

Food was nice but waited 40 minutes and half the food was stone cold. Microwave saved it but shouldn’t have been needed. Not the worst experience.

Not been here for a few years and thought would try on New Year’s Eve. Booked online and on arrival we were give a set menu with the cheapest price being £32, I was not made aware of this on booking or I wouldn’t have come as I didn’t like anything on the menu. Questioned the waiter and he said we could pick anything from the normal menu which we did. When the bill was received they had charged us for the medium set menu (£36!) even though we didn’t have the starter, or the saag aloo but just because we chose the main from that menu. They then added an £8 service charge even though the waiter was rude and abrupt. When questioning the price again the waiter was rude and told it it was expensive because we chose something not on the set menu, even though he told us we can swap the dishes! The food was nice however not worth £90 for 2 people to have a starter, main and 2 soft drink , even if it was New Year! Will not be going back.

Not been here for a while so popped in for a takeaway at 17.30 when it opened, staff as allways where friendly and my food was out 25 minutes later my drive home was only 4 minutes then plated up and sat to enjoy unfortunately half the order was cold not Luke warm cold.

Food 10/10 as always. Great service. The best curry in the north west. Quickly sat down, quick to order drinks and food. Food come very quick. 100% reccomend will be back again soon.

Myself and my Family have been going there for 7/8yrs. Never had a single bad meal, never been sick and always been treated well. Never thought to write a review because frankly I assumed it would be highly rated. Recently noticed it’s on only 3.5 star and I couldn’t stand that. They are lovely people who serve, they are quiet but are friendly. The food is delicious, if you have ever been east z east in town it’s as close as you get to that standard of food but for around half the price. People said it’s expensive but In comparison to other Indians in the area and within neighbouring regions it’s priced well. Only slightly bad thing is that the takeaway does not travel as well, so I will highly recommend sitting in the restaurant. Lovely restaurant, lovely service and importantly lovely food.

This was the second time I had been to the Barton Rouge in the past six months with my daughter. Firstly I would say that the food is nice, even though it took an hour to serve us. On our first visit we asked for the bill and there were several more drinks on the bill than what we had ordered approximately £18 more than there should have been. The waiter blamed it on a new member of staff behind the bar!! Tonight they tried to pull the same scam, this time I asked for the manager but was told he wasn’t available and that they would take off the additional drinks from the bill. I told him that this wasn’t good enough and I insisted on speaking to the manager. After much arguing with the manager he agreed to knock off all of our drinks. I warned the fellow diners who were sitting near me to make sure that they check their bills

Been here twice now in the last month and can honestly say it's the nicest Indian we've ever had, good attentive service for drinks, lovely ambience (although a bit chilly so take a jacket) and the food is gorgeous!! Definitely recommend

First time visiting this beautiful restaurant, service and food excellent. I tried the chicken tikka for starters and a mixed grill for mains, my partner had the chicken biryani. Portions were more than generous, can’t wait to be back again!

What a pleasant surprise! Here for a work night out and we were looked after from start to finish! the food looked and tasted amazing and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Will be back soon as there is nothing like it in the area. Keep up the good work!

Was down for a game at Anfield and decided to come here after, the atmosphere is amazing and the place is stunning. The service was polite and prompt. Had a mixed starter to begin which came on a sizzling plate and for mains, we shared a Vindaloo and a lamb Bhuna (asked extra extra spicy for both and the chef definitely paid close attention to this request) . The food was delicious, the staff was attentive and accommodating, will definitely be back when up for another game.

We went for dinner on a Saturday night, the food was great and the staff were friendly and accommodating. My main dish was perfectly spiced for me having asked it to be hotter. The portions were also decent. Would go again if in the area.

Came here Saturday 29th July, it wasn't overly busy, just seemed to be lack of staff. Whilst waiting for a table, there were many people complaining that they had been waiting 2 hours for their food and a huge number of tables walking out without eating. As most had left, we decided to sit down and endure the wait. We sat very close to the bar, whilst waiting for our food we observed he staff. There was a collection of dirty glasses on the bar as they hadn't had time to put them through the wash.. one of the waiters seated a new table and took their drinks order, he then went behind the bar to make their drinks and took a dirty glass from the side which still had beer in the bottom, filled it up and served it to the customer!!! He not only did this once but twice, absolutely disgusting. Just to note, this wasn't the actual man who was working behind the bar - he was using clean glasses. It was one of the waiters. Manager came out of the kitchen and poured himself a glass of coke, drank some and pulled a face, poured it away and got himself an apple juice. If the coke isn't good enough for you to drink for free then why should the customers be paying for it?? Flat and warm. Won't be going back

Visited for Father's day meal. At first everything was ok. Wine very expensive for what it was. My husband had Chicken Madras and l had Chicken Tikka Masala. The Tikka was disgusting, it was like eating sugar. I passed my view to the waiter who offered another one but l refused as l couldn't face it feeling quite sickly. The Ladies toilets were filthy, 2 toilets closed and the 3rd completely blocked. We paid and its not exactly cheap and left. When we arrived home my husband was up all night being sick, he had only had Pepsi to drink so l new it had nothing to do with that. He was in bed for 2 days feeling dizzy and nauseous. So to say we will not be returning ever again.

Service is shocking. It’s like you’ve inconvenienced them just being there. Chicken was pink my mum has ended up really quite sick. I had to tell 3 people and literally got told sorry and then got given the bill. I had to refuse to pay for the korma and they still didn’t understand why. They have waiting staff who in their own words don’t quite understand properly- then they shouldn’t be working as waiting staff. Despicable

Mother’s Day - restaurant was busy which you would expect and we were in no rush. Food service was shambolic and the manager was very abrasive. By the time it took for naans etc to arrive for main course we had eaten the main dishes, despite asking 3 times for them and being fobbed off they were on there way. It took 3 hrs in total for food. Not an apology in site. We have been before and service has never been brilliant but this was off the scale As it was Mothers Day my sons’ didn’t want me to complain. I am furious they didn’t knock anything off the bill high was £160. Food itself was superb, but we didn’t enjoy it as we spent the night chasing each course up! We will never go back.

Large restaurant this & obviously not busy in January so difficult to decide how many heaters to switch on to heat it . I was cold for the first half hour until the mains arrived to heat me up. Can't fault the food it was really nice although I think it was a bit expensive against other local indian restaurants in Cheshire & Liverpool, I had to tell the waiting staff not to cook my main for a bit as I felt like I was at a drive through at the beginning .Our starters arrived as we were starting to tuck into our poppadoms, so this obviously just wound me up & pretty much ruined my first experience in this restaurant. If I wanted food in 1 go, I would have ordered a take-out, but the reason I go to a restaurant is to have a nice relaxing evening out with my wife , the restaurant was less about 5% full so don't see the point of throwing food out within minutes of each course , giving people the impression that your trying to rush them out door soon as they arrive. Don't think I will be doing a second visit .

New years eve meal was disappointing, to say the least , we were not advised when booking that it was a set menu , limited choices , food was lukewarm, and not very tasty plus very expensive for what we had. It was our first experience at this restaurant and we would not revisit or recommend unfortunately. The staff were unable to meet the demand of the amount of people that had been booked in to eat . The restaurant was noisy and felt uncomfortable to be in due to the chaos and lack of ambience .

Booked a table here with my wife for New Year’s Eve. We’ve been many times before but what a shambles it was. Upon arrival no name was taken and we were just advised to sit in the waiting area to be seated so I don’t think booking in advance was even necessary as they didn’t seem to care if you had a booking or not. When we got to the table we noticed it was a set menu with four options which were quite limited ranging from £35.00 - £40.00 per head. This was disappointing as there was no mention of this when booking the table and it is rather expensive for a dish you don’t particularly want. At this moment I really wish we’d just walked out and got a takeaway from elsewhere… The waiter took our drinks order and promptly brought a tray of poppadoms and dips over. After finishing these we still hadn’t received our drinks. I asked a passing waiter about the drinks and he said he would find out where they were. The starters then came and we also ate these without a drink. I had again asked another waiter in the meantime about the drinks but he never came back. After 35 mins still without drinks I decided to go up to the bar and eventually got served drinks which I took back to the table with me. A couple of other tables nearby had had the same issue but they actually received their drinks (eventually!). The mains came and I asked if we could order the same drinks again as we were likely to not receive them for a while judging by the first round. We ate the mains but never received any further drinks. After this we decided to just pay the bill and go home as we just wanted to get out of there at this point. After asking two waiters for the bill and still no sign of it after around half an hour, we decided to grab our coats and pay at the bar instead. I mentioned these issues we had had to the bar staff who didn’t seem bothered and just sort of shrugged saying ‘everyone had arrived at the same time’. Surely this is why you book a table?! This whole experience has really put us off coming here again. It seemed like they had tried to squeeze in as many bookings as possible but didn’t have the staff to handle it. The food is nice but much more expensive than other local Indians and the service is nothing short of dreadful. At no point did anyone ask if we wanted more drinks or even if everything was ok with the food. We wish we’d just ordered a takeaway and stayed at home as it ruined our last meal out of the year. It’s fair to say we won’t be rushing back…

Myself and a group of friends try and get together for a Curry once a week . We gave Barton Rouge a try and were not disappointed the food was very good . This restaurant is huge and gives you the feeling of being in a canteen , lots of mums and kids there even in the evening . The service is good but not excellent . All told good value for money

We ate here on Friday evening having booked a table, when we arrived were asked to wait in lounge while they ‘would see if they could find us a table’. Were then seated at a drafy table. Food was tasty and some more unusual options on the menu. But after one of the dishes arrived, Balti exotica, which was supposed to contain king prawns, the waiter came back to inform us they had no king prawns, if we had been told this before the meal was cooked we would have ordered something else. Waiter taking the order was rude and we think we were overcharged on some of the meals.

Disgusting worst food and service ever I visited the Widnes on never again they asked me did I enjoy my plat was full I told them it was disgusting they then asked if I wanted to take it home . I said no put it in the bin ... they didn’t even apologise or give us a drink rubbish disgusting

Ate here recently for my 30th birthday, it was my second visit. The food is amazing, probably one of the best curry’s I’ve ever had (I had the lamb special curry). It's a beautiful restaurant too, lovely decor. The only thing that lets the place down is the speed of service. Had to remind them of our drinks a few times etc but we were a big party. Will definitely be going back for that curry again!

Called in early evening to a very quiet restaurant, night didn’t start off well when ordered drinks to find out they had run out of Cobra, i only have a beer when out for a meal so had to settle for Carling which isn’t the best. Waiter who looked after us was great so no problems there although service can be off on occasions. We are regular customers, roughly twice a month and always find the food to be great but our visit two weeks prior we found they had added items we hadn’t asked for or received to the bill (cokes and naans) so pointed that out at the bar and they were removed, on the last visit 30/09/19 we made sure we checked the Bill at the table only to find they had added 2 Rogan Josh sauces to the bill when we only ordered 1, we mentioned this to the waiter only to be told they had given us 2 portions on 1 tray as 2 people wanted to share, the portion compared to the other main chicken curries ordered was approximately 1/3 so we told the waiter of the quantity of which he was adamant it was 2 portions, the manager then came over to us and was also adamant with a raised voice it was 2 portions and we again told him we only ordered 1, I was about to say forget about it and we would pay for it but he relented and said he would remove it from the bill. I think they were put out because we only ordered 1 portion between 2 people (veggies) who had appetisers and starters but struggle with a main to themselves. We were all left feeling shocked after having a heated discussion about something we hadn’t ordered and that visit was definitely my last.

Came here whilst in Widnes for a business trip. Stayed at the Best Western and this was very convenient at only a 10 minute walk away.

What a rip off! Food dishes wrong. Complained went back and wrong dishes again! Food poor, not good value for price. This place is always empty for a reason.

We have visited this little gem since it first opened. Unfortunately it has been through some rough times but I’m glad to say it is back on form. We decided to give it another try and were not disappointed. The food was fantastic, really enjoyed the mixed starter, my daughter wanted a Balti garlic chicken with sagg, although it isn’t on the menu our waiter sorted it and the meal was spot on. The staff were all very attentive, topping up the wine as required and having a bit of banter. Overall a very relaxing evening in very pleasant surroundings. Will definitely be going back.

Went with family for a belated birthday treat. The inside of the restaraunt was really impressive with a high standard of decor. The spicy popadoms were a bit disappointing but the mushroom pakora a fish starter and my lamb kebab was very tasty. The mains were all lovely my chilli chicken was spot on and father in laws fish was( nicest he’s ever tasted). Mother in law had a meal with all different meats that she really enjoyed. Other meals were nice also but can’t remember names.

We visit Barton Rouge usually for a mid-week evening meal at least once a month. The staff welcome us warmly and are friendly and attentive. The choice and quality of food are excellent with generously sized portions to suit all tastes. We prefer quieter mid-week dining rather than busier weekend evenings, but have never had poor service or a less than excellent meal. Lovely surroundings and spotlessly clean. Can’t fault it.

Visited as a family of four for the first time. We had pre booked our table but there was still a wait to get to it. The food itself was very tasty but we had to wait over an hour to get any food and even then, it was the main dishes that arrived and we had to wait then for our starters! Not used to visiting an Indian restaurant where the staff were not attentive, and the restaurant did not appear to be full. Good décor but constant thunder of kids running up and down the floor above us like a herd of elephants!

Haven’t been for a while but went for dinner with hubby. Had poppodums, onion bhaji, chicken tikka shashlik kharai and chicken tikka madras. It was all really tasty, and good service. Don’t know why it’s not busier. Could make more of the Sunday meal times with buffets.

We visited last night with Friends 8 of us in total on arrival we were welcomed by a Gentleman in traditional dress we then sat in a lovely seated area whilst we waited for the rest of are party. We were shown to are table and are order for drinks was taken straight away we ordered Poppadoms and a selection of Chutneys and Dips they were lovely. We ordered are mains and my Son has a bad Nut and Egg Allergy and the Waiter couldn't help us enough advising us what he could and could not have and my Husband who doesn't eat Indian food had the choice of Fried Chicken or Omelette with Chips. We had all chosen different mains and we ordered Rice, Chips and the biggest Naan Bread I had ever seen. At the end of the meal they brought a plate of Orange segments to cleanse the Palette.

Very pleasant welcome at the door and shown to a seat .it was not long until we were shown to our table .the service was excellent and food excellent .we did not have too wait long for service .The venue was lovely plenty of space and airy .we only live local and we have been meaning to go for a meal there but my sister by chance got a take away from them which she said was fab .we are coming back soon as we really enjoyed it .Thanks and see you soon .oh and prices were good .

We have eaten at this restaurant in the past but never on a Saturday night. We booked for 7:30 in the evening for 12 people, three of whom were celebrating birthday's. The service was absolutely shocking. No drinks service, and what when we did finally get an order in some drinks didn't turn up and we were constantly having to remind them We finally got our meal at 9:15, having sat down at the table at 7:30... Unbelievable. The venue was fantastic and the food (when it arrived) was great but the service totally let it down ans spoiled what would have been a fantastic evening. I don't know who the owner is but your seriously missing a trick here. Great food, great venue but service that was beyond amateur. It don't think we will ever go back under this management regime.

visited this place in a group of ten people ,we booked it the week after Christmas / new year so we thought it would be quieter , we booked the table for 8.15 on a Saturday night , my first impressions were very good, very modern nice feel about the place, unfortunately it all went terribly downhill from that moment , we waited nearly 15 minutes to get served with drinks as I said our table was booked for 8.15 it was after 10.oclock when we eventually sat down to eat , the starters were very nice but then we had to wait to nearly 11.oclock for our main course by that time nobody could eat the main course as it was too late , the food I ate was very tasty but the service was possibly the poorest I have ever received , my friends wife complained to the manager about the service who apologised and knocked a percentage off the bill , I can honestly say I didn't go with intention of a cheap meal and although the manager reduced the bill the night was a complete disaster its a shame its a lovely restaurant the food I ate was nice but the service really needs to be improved if this place is stay in business .

We have been here several times and love the food. We went again last night. There were three adults and had booked a table for 7.15. We were asked to sit in waiting area and got talking to a group of 7 people who had booked for 7pm. At 7.30 we were taken to our table. The others were still waiting! At around 7.45 our drinks order was taken. At around 8 our food order was taken. Poppadoms arrived at around 8.15 drinks still hadn't arrived. After asking again for drinks they finally arrived. Main course arrived 9.15! After catching manager to ask where they were. Everyone was in the same boat. The other group didn't get seated till 8.15, an hour and 15 minutes after their booking. The restaurant was full to bursting. Obviously they had taken too many bookings for the same time. There is one person pouring drinks and one delivering them. I won't go again. I don't mind waiting for good food but that was ridiculous.

Had takeaway for 4 starters and main good selection well cooked and very tasty. Service was good on time but it was early on a weekday. Separate entrance for takeaway orders we went to restaurant by mistake which looked very nice.

The service was slow for drinks and food and the meals were average at best. The draught bitter was off and the draught Cobra ran out, with Carling the only draught alternative. Most of the dishes were hotter in spice terms than in any other Indian restaurant that we've had them, which if that's how you choose what to eat you'll be in for a surprise. That said the passanda dish was also ludicrously sweet - I've had custard that wasn't as sweet. Six starters, six mains, naan & 3 rice and four rounds of drinks was £4 short of £200. Not good on any level.

Went Christmas Eve to celebrate my sons birthday. Place was really busy but the service was excellent as was the food. Generous portions and served quickly. All dishes were delicious. Highly recommended.

Food here is great, some of the best Indian food around. The service however is appalling. We have been a few times and it’s the same every time.

Food was ok but the service was terrible. Asked for drinks when we eventually got seated only to see the waiter walk off and forget because he was too busy on his phone. Definitely DO NOT get service with a smile. Most miserable staff I’ve ever seen. Never going back again

I went to eat here as part of a large celebration so it was a large arrangement to cater for 60-70 or so people. The style was buffet. Considering how buffets are, the quality was very good. A mixture of Indian and Bengali food, served within a UK/EU standard and decor. The owner of the restaurant, who owns several other restaurants at prestigious locations, was also present to greet us and see to good serving.

We got seated then we had to ask can we order some drinks after waiting 20 minutes then we had to ask can we order food. The starters come and to be fair they was nice then we waited 30 minutes for the mains to turn up after the starters and we had to ask where are mains was once they turned up they never give us any plates and we had to ask for these the main meal was ok nothing special I would not visit this restaurant again down to the very poor service and food being below average

Ok so we booked this venue on our doorstep for a party of 36 which they said was not a problem. Nice clean friendly atmosphere however the bar service is really slow so by the end of the first hour we had barley all had a drink. As the night progressed we noticed some of our party had been well servered and where ready to leave yet others had not even had as much as a poppadom, the waiters upon hearing this all walked off leaving food on a trolley and appeared unhappy, the service is very poor the staff are not professional at all which is a shame because the food is excellent.

Great service from welcoming attentive staff, lovely restaurant serving delicious Indian food. Good value for money, we will definitely be returning here soon.

First of all service rubish no atmosphere the staff cold no personalitys quite harsh.... Food terrible lamb full of griddle fat tasteless .. Me and my wife left 90% of the meal and nobody asked why we had not eaten our meal. A good restraunt would never ever let this happen.a

Been here twice now, surroundings very modern, nicely furnished, food I thought was probably one if the nicest Indian meals I’ve had in a long time on both visits. Waiters very friendly and helpful, hosts/bar staff I thought were quite miserable, rude to my friends/colleagues when asked about the menu and paying the bill. Not very professional, as it happened on both occasions I’ve visited. Would have been 5 star if this wasn’t the case.

The restaurant is a large, modern and very comfortable venue.

I don’t know why we haven’t tried this place before. We only live around the corner and we love Indian food. I had a Chicken Chaat starter with Chicken Tikka Massala main whilst my partner had a mixed kebab starter with a Chicken Pathia main. We both had Keema Rice. What can I say? It was gorgeous and we will DEFINITELY be going again as well as getting takeaways from here. It was the tastiest Indian food that I have had for a while. It is on a par with Bar Bursi in St Helens. Maybe a bit better? Or I may have been more hungry than when we went to Bar Bursi. Either way I can HIGHLY RECOMMEND the food. It is extremely tasty and the flavours are superb.
